Dominating Dogs defense makes up for lackluster offense

The Dogs' John Jenkins slams Ladarius Perkins to the ground on a day when the Georgia defense dominated. (Brant Sanderlin / AJC)

It’s beginning to look like if you want to see the Georgia Bulldogs offense in action, you better catch the first half, because judging by the past two games they’re taking off most of the third and fourth quarters.

Fortunately, for the Dogs, their defense is playing a full four quarters and Saturday against Mississippi State the D turned in a dominating performance, holding the Maroon Bulldogs to a measly 56 yards on the ground, with an average of only 1.6 yards per carry, and letting Dan Mullen’s vaunted spread option convert only 27 percent of its third-down tries. Georgia also had five sacks on the day.

The only thing the D didn’t do was score, and they likely could have if they’d held on to several almost-interceptions that were dropped. As it was, they did manage to snag two picks.

Still, there’s one overwhelming conclusion that you have to take from a game where Georgia threw three interceptions (one a pick 6), had almost no offense in the third quarter, muffed two field goal attempts and yet still won the game by 14 points:

Mississippi State isn’t very good.

The Georgia offense actually looked pretty decent in the first half, though it only really needed to launch one long, sustained drive, getting the ball in good field positions a couple of other times through a nice Brandon Boykin punt return and another shanked MSU punt.

Isaiah Crowell had 104 yards on 22 carries, most of it in the first half and had another very impressive, weaving touchdown run canceled when it was ruled he had stepped on the sideline.

Aaron Murray completed 13 of 25 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns, again mostly in the first half. But besides having three picks on the day, Murray and the Georgia offense were largely ineffective after halftime. At least some of the blame had to go to the offensive line, which had a very lackluster day.

Crowell was spelled a good bit by Carlton Thomas (surprisingly effective) and Richard Samuel (mostly not), and the freshman back seemed more comfortable running out of the spread formation that Georgia used more extensively in the first half than the tight I-formation the Dogs hunkered down in for most of the last two quarters.

The frustration of the second half for Georgia fans was summed up by a third-and-inches play in the third quarter when the Dogs went with Samuel and somehow came up short. And then when Georgia again got the ball at the MSU 14, couldn’t get 10 yards, and rather than go for a fourth-and-short play brought in the still-troubled field goal unit, which couldn’t even get the kick off. Boos were heard coming from the Georgia stands.

Thank goodness one of Georgia’s units played up to its capabilities.

Still, it seems churlish to grumble too much after the Dogs won another conference game. Yes, the offense and special teams have a long way to go, but the Georgia defense seems to be for real.

And that’s definitely worth celebrating.

Feel free to share your own views of Georgia’s win over MSU.

kevin- do you know how many times in the last few years the dawgs have done that? I can think of 5 right off the top of my head. And 0 of those teams tried to start a fight. The worst was Auburn last year where not only did the puppies stomp on the logo at the start of the game but they also sent 31 coaches and players onto the field to fight after the game.

I’m not sure what’s going on with field goals, but that has to be corrected. The offense seems to be really hit or miss. The defense is looking pretty damn good.
If you take away the points the special teams and offense have given up to opposing teams (or put them inside our red zone), the D has been pretty stout. Hell, the O gave up more points than the D today.

And no one else can seem to stop their passing attack. The offense looks dysfunctional and out of sync. If we could just protect the ball better, we’d have a chance in all of the remaining games. It’s pretty clear that this team has found it’s swag on D. I’m still a huge fan of Richt and letting him go would be a major mistake. He made a great decision hiring Grantham. Bobo does a great job in the first half, but I can’t figure out what happens after halftime. Crowell is playing like a beast, so why do we go with Samuel and Carlton Thomas so much in the 2nd half, although Carlton played well. I’m not sure whats going on with Murray. Bobo needs to realize that his freshman are the key – Malcolm Mitchell, Isaiah Crowell, Michael Bennett.

Mike Bobo is the worse OC I’ve ever seen. How many times should you run a play right up the middle before you try something else? Crowell was upset. I would have been too. We must have the smallest playbook in the league. Bobo is holding Ga. back from being a better team. Richt is an idiot if he cannot see this for himself. Good Job D. Wat to play hard boys. Murray is not what he was billed to be. He’s scared and wants to force it to number 7. He wasn’t even looking where he was throwing the ball. Why not let Mason play some when Murray is struggling? We actually sat on the lead after halftime. We shoulda let some young guys play. Get rid of Bobo>

getbehindricht, i think we relied less on Crowell in the second half because he looked downright tired at times. i remember several times him being winded with his hands on his hips. Walsh must be in love or he just got dumped …………. he is totally out of it. He is walking up there thinking “I am a choke artist ………… oh no, I CHOKED AGAIN like in the Florida game and the SC game and last week vs Ole Miss”. CLOWN he has become. It is what it is folks.

Aaron Murray continues to hurt UGA with his bone headed throws and nervous feet. He looks and looks and looks for Orson Charles, then simply tries to force it to him on a rope and the PIC SIX resulted!! He is a great HS QB and that is it.

Murray is not a big time QB in this league. THREE PICS TODAY !!! Yes, he is ok with mid level to bad teams but vs top drawer teams, he simply chokes. He will not be the UGA starter next year, all year long. He has become a liability. The fans will boo him if he continues to hurt UGA with his DUMB READS and THROWS.

D looks pretty good and we will hold final judgement until Dogs play UT and Florida and KY and AU and of course, GT. It appears to be far better vs last year’s D. MSU today averaged less than 2 per carry. Decent that is.

Offense? Both Richt anbd Bobo are supposedly coaching up AM and it looks like it. He is dreadful. He actually is regressing as a third year player, in a system that he runs only half way decently. This is shocking. O line has to take about 45% of the bad rap for this too.

Heck, we cannot even get 4 inches for a first down. THAT is awful.

It’s time for Aaron Murray to STEP UP and show and prove that he was worthy of being thought of as a TOP 3 QB rated out of high school. He had what….50 scholarship offers, was this highly sought after QB….what exactly has he shown in college to merit all the accolades coming in???

Some of the mistakes he makes, INT.’s, over and under throws, and fumbles are characteristic of a red shirt freshman and or backup QB – yet he’s the starter and number 1 on the depth chart.

If Aaron Murray doesn’t step up his game and clean up his mistakes….we are not beating Tenn, or FLA, or dare say GT.

On the other hand…very good to see the Defense raise their game up and improve…the only thing I’d like to see is making more plays on the ball when they have chances to intercept. We should have had double today’s total if we could have just held on to the ball.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy with the win…but there’s a lot of reasons for concern going forward.

Georgia’s defense has played pretty good, even in defeat. They are not the dominant force of say an Alabama, LSU, or even a Florida…YET! Georgia’s defense may make it possible for Georgia’s offense to simply manage the game and not lose it.

Aaron Murray is still LOCKING IN on targets and letting it fly with a “no matter what” type attitude. He threw only 8 interceptions last year, but is well on his way to surpassing that number this season. The offense MUST LEARN to take care of the ball. This inability to get a yard or an INCH has got to be addressed and soon.

I was VERY disappointed that Richt chose not to CONTINUE TO BUILD QUALITY DEPTH. With 8:30 left and a 24 – 3 lead, I really wanted to see Hutson Mason get some playing time to give him more live experience. Murray is still getting hit at a pretty alarming rate and Mason needs to get some prep time when it is available just in case.

And let’s throw your body our there to get pounded on for 30 snaps a game…do I think IC can carry it 30 times a game yes, do I think he should when it’s not necessary NO…if he blows his knee ou on the 30th carry, in a meaningless rep, you would rip CMR a new one for having him in the game…#stopbritching

Get something straight

I dont care about 50 point blowouts

But when we stil have 2 full Qtrs to play and your up by only 18 points and you are 4th and inches inside the redzone and have an opportunity to put the team away come on

Just like UCF a conference USA team in a meaningless bowl game 4th and inches and you cant go for it

This is a pattern of mediocrity and why we have become a joke

Are we here to win or lets play good enough and hope we can run the clock out every game

Concerning Crowel

Again Im not concerned about Crowel running him 30 carries.

Did I say run him when the game is out of reach and meaningless NOOOOOO

But when your coach makes comments like that and comments like he did before the Boise game, of well if we lose its ok the season is not over

My question is this does this coach want to play for NC’s or just hope to win 10 games

Sorry to say but Murray appears to have been really weak in the second half of most games, counting last year’s. I wonder if he is just getting tired easy. We may need to consider Mason on the third quarter and if he cannot do it give Murray the fourth quarter after resting.

Welcome to the hot spot for whiners. You have Dawg haters (I hesitate to call them fans of other teams; if they were they would be reading about their teams) desperate to point out any flaw along with “Dawg fans” who also are not content with mere victory. Oh no, they also roll around in the garbage of negativity and complaints. Its not so much that you find problems, its the way you present them. You are frankly, disgusting. Not naming any names, but if the shoe fits, wear it.

Personally, I’ll take a win with a dominant defense and some explosive skill players on offense any time. Al Davis said it best, “Just win, baby!”.

Bobo is a liability and needs to go. His play calling is awful and it is hurting the team in the second half. UGA needs to turn it on for all four quarters every game. when you have the opportunity to put your enemy away you do it. You dont let them stay in the game

I still scatch my head as to why we dont run Crowell more to the outside especially Carlton Thomas.
Crowell’s biggest runs this year have been to the outside

First off, it was great to see a touchdown on the first drive. Defense great the whole game. Mitchell is real deal!
Crowell is the key to offense. He must stay healthy. When MSU took him away in 2nd half, offense was impotent.
If Murray will not do better job managing game, give someone else a chance. Offense must quit giving points away.
I hope DBs practice catching balls this week. Great coverage tho.

Not sure what Gary Danielson is smoking or drinking, but to think the dawgs are in the drivers seat is kind of funny…Yes the dawgs got alot of help today and if they take care of business things could work out for them…but…this team has an extremely long ways to go, especially on offense…The playcalling, while better, is still puzzling at times and we do not have that killer instinct….I’m proud of the win and it looks like we got ourselves right back in the SEC East race, but Tenn will be a huge challenge in my opinion…Our O-lione has got to improve…absolutely no reason we can’t move the pile a few inches to get a first down….I know many of you get on Coach Richt for not going for it, myself too, but to be honest our O-line has not proven that we have that ability when its needed….The dawgs have a lot of talent and weapons, but it isn’t on the O-line…whether its coaching or lack of talent, or unfortunate injuries, if we want to be the team that I saw crush the gators tonight then we better make that a priority from this point on with our recruiting…..

Also, its quite apparent that the SEC West is much stronger than the East…I see know one in the East that can hang with or defeat Bama nor LSU…but hey thats why we play the game on the field, not in these blogs….go dawgs and great win today….

DEMPS AND BRANTLEY GOT KNOCKED THE HECK OUT

ESPN college football analyst David Pollack said he thinks Florida has a good chance to stop the run based on its strong front seven on defense.

“The defensive line is the best part of their team,” Pollack said. “I call them the baby d. (Ronald) Powell, (Dominique) Easley and (Sharrif) Floyd, with (Jaye) Howard and (Omar) Hunter, they are more deep and talented in that area than they have been in years past.”

On offense, Pollack said the game will rest on the shoulders of quarterback John Brantley. He said he expects Alabama coach Nick Saban to devise a scheme to take Florida’s speedy playmakers Chris Rainey and Jeff Demps away.

There’s good reason to grumble over missed opportunities to score and poor play in two games amounting to only 6 points in 4 qtrs of play. Those blown opportunities are points that are being squandered and points they will need to have in order to win their upcoming SEC games. Its going to get tougher and against AU and FL, TN as well, you better not give up those scoring opportunites and have to make 3rd and 4th downs otherwise they’ll be on the short end of the stick. The D has saved their bacon in 2 games now against lesser teams but that’ll all change in TN, etc., unless they break this habit of giving up on Off to end their games. There are no saviors on Offense but they better step up in the coming weeks as the Def may not play this well week after week in the SEC.

I wonder, if I’m a UGA player, if I’d ever listen to anything Mark Richt says. Or Mike Boo Boo.

Yeah, right, guys. Hutson Mason is just soooo darn impressive that he’s certainly earned more playing time. Right. Now we know that for what it was. Just some smoke to “motivate” Aaron Murray. Great. He’s now motivated to overthrow guys by 8 yards instead of 5. Good job, guys. Still staring down his receivers. Throwing into double coverage.

I honestly don’t get it. Since when is playing time handed out based on who the coach wants to see play rather than who’s the best player for that moment, for the UGA bulldogs?

Oh, right. Since now.

Murray’s playing like a freshman, in high school. But, it “didn’t matter” because the defense played so well? See if it matters against teams that can actually play the game.

All I can say is, here we go again.

like I have said many times before.. A Murray is a terrible qb and I wish these sports announcer’s would quit calling him the best in SEC.. If thats true then the entire league’s QB’s suck… Murray have given the other teams 28 points this year.. Really u could say 35… Please CMR.. Listen to me… U got lucky yesterday… Lets see some Mason.. As long a as Murray feels secure in his position he will not get better.. However u in the hotseat can’t…. Bobo is a idiot, and “THE SHORTBUS” DEFINITELY WAS BACK IN ATHENS ” at Half time.. Murray cont to be the star of the shortbus week in and out.. Bobo u suck…

I am sick of Crowell asking to be removed from the game every time he taks a big hit. His post game comment is a classic: “When I get tired or have an ache” I ask to come out. I understand it is a big jump from high school, Class AA to the SEC, and he has been hit more times in five games than his entire senior year at Carver Columjbus, but he is a 5 Star recruit and this is a “big boy” league. If he does not like the pounding you take as an SEC tailback, then maybe he should considering transfering to Agnes Scott and play flag football with the girls.

Other than the one long scoring drive we were on the short field all game and with 3 gifts inside the red zone which we failed to capitalize on. We have offensive problems a good freshman RB won’t remedy.

The Bobo formula is obvious which is why we get shut down in the second half. Tailback will be two yards behind QB and a yard to one side -handoff to the 1 or 2 hole whichever is opposite the side the RB lines up on. Stuffed EVERY time for second and 9. So much talent wasted by the least diverse play calling in D-1. Second half is when we should be blowing teams out. Enough is enough.

Put in bogotay for field goals, leave kick off duty to Walsh. he can still kick the crap out of it hw just can’t angle it anymore. I don’t understand why Crowell doesn’t want to stay in the game. Leave him in until he falls over because Richard Samuel doesn’t run he stomps around flat-footed. Murray needs to calm down, because there’s going to come a time when he needs to win the game. 3 INTs are enough to put Mason in for a few series. 2nd half against Ole Miss, flat. 2nd half against Missy St, flat. I am a Murray fan, I believe he is destined for some greatness and he proved himself last year. However, he is still learning and often there are lessons learned one can only learn from the bench after major mistakes or failure to spark the offense. Bobo’s playcalling isn’t helping him any but, Murray is still the leader on the field.

We have the biggest OL in football. Yeah they are not very good but, they are adequate and getting better. Murray last year did much better with much less. Aaron needs to get his head out of his pooh hole. I guess he’s looking for Walsh

Serious Dawg fans need to start organizing and demanding that Richt be fired. Otherwise, sports writers will be asking the same questions this time a year from now.

Richt represents mediocrity. Saban, Miles, Spurrier, and Chizik represent excellence and championships. Richt simply isn’t in their class, nor will he ever be. Richt would have to be incredibly lucky to win the division, and the odds against him winning the SEC championship would be at least 50:1.

Those are the simple facts, and there’s no amount of enthusiasm or cheerleading or Top 5 recruiting classes that can get around it.

That said, anyone who thinks we are anything more than a second tier SEC team right now is drinking too much Kool-Aid. My name says it all. We’ve been that way since ‘08 when we were preseason #1……been a LONG slide down since…

A few salient comments:

1. Four different SEC teams have won the last five BCS championships.

2. UGA was not one of those teams.

3. During that period, UGA did not win the SEC championship.

4. During that period, UGA did not even win its SEC division.

5. Red panties.

In other words, UGA has sunk into total irrelevancy both regionally and nationally.

So why is UGA paying Mark Richt millions of dollars a year?

Oh, No Bobo

October 2nd, 2011

@hot dawg

Have we seen Crowell and Samuel in the backfield together? I think that would give Richard more opportunity because the defense would be focused on Isiah.

I loved watching Alabama’s offense last night. That was formidable. What was that quick flash by the qb before he hands to Richardson? That was neat and keeps the defense pinned. They either hand to the guy running past the qb, or they give to Richardson. Their QB can’t pass, but with a running game like that, it didn’t matter.

GUYS THIS IS A GOOD WIN! and I think Murray is the QB, but after that last pick he should have been sat down for the next series. After all we where not going to throw the ball again.
The troubling thing is the team is getting better but Murray is not. He has NO IDEA how to go through his progressions and check down to another receiver, He stares down his primary, hence all the ints. Also don’t you think it’s time for coach Richt to part with $200,000 of his salary for a full time special teams coach.

IMHO it is a complete coaching deficiency. Our’s tend to throw talent to the wolves and then stick with them regardless with a “that’s our man attitude” to hide their deficiency as a coach. History is a good judge of this. Murray is good but, he’s still in a learning curve and has much to learn. I’m afraid he hasn’t learn squat from those picks yesterday.

i think murry can win when the game is on the line. just give him time to throw the ball and he will hit his mark. he is gettng hit way too many times and that can take a toll on any qb. and keep this in mind as well that he is just a sophmore so he is gaining expereince with every game. i wouldnt trust hutson right now with the way the line is blocking and how crowell is still learning to pick up blitzes, to be very productive. murry has a whole year of experience over hutson which is very important.

“he is in the film room alot” – maybe, he is sleeping?

Last week, posted that John Smoltz had a film of all his good throws put together by his sports psychologist, and he watched them over and over. Bobo needs the film guy to put together a cd of all the good plays that UGA has made, and he needs to watch them over and over and only practice and call those. Well, some accidental ones should be removed. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Murray? I don’t know. He needs to actually watch the pick 6’s over and over and never, ever, throw into those type of situations again. Does any QB in the nation have more points for the other team?

Good win! Yes, the D is looking good. The O looked great in the 1st half. But, fourth and inches with the biggest O line in the country, and can’t make it? I’m disappointed to say the least. Bobo called a good game…he can’t help it if Murray doesn’t make his reads…and throws INTs. He can’t help it if he calls a good play and the O doesn’t execute. They showed they’re plenty capable…in the 1st half…but for some reason lose the fire or something in the 2nd. I don’t blame Bobo as much as Will Friend. But then you look at the first half and know that even he’s doing something right.

I believe CMR, CMB, and CTG know more about the team and what it needs than any of us here on these blogs. I believe the major thing any of them are stumped about is Walsh. The rest, they can work on. And I congratulate CMR for hanging in there for/with Walsh. The only way to help him is to put him in there and show faith that he’ll come thru. Hopefully, Murray will learn from his mistakes; although it’s becoming questionable whether he can do so. Just too many INTs this season overall. Biggest O line in the country and we’re allowing so many sacks and hurries…leading to INTs. Is it because we’re “thin” and they have to play the whole game? But…you’d think they’d come out after halftime and be rested and only get worn down toward the end of the game. I just dunno. But, I believe the coaches see and know way more than we do…and that they’ll work to correct the problem areas.

Good win! Get ready for the Vowels! Goooooo Dawgs!!!

Well, just another in the long running series, “Let’s get a lead and sit on it.” The fans pay to see a whole game only to see 1/2 game … again. Apparently the coaches can’t see the opportunity a big lead affords. First you get to work your offense out against a real foe for 30 minutes. Secondly you get the chance to get more players involved building valuable game tested depth. I think the last full game I saw was the Hawaii game. Once again the secondary again had hands of stone and the quarterback, when you subtract the bad from the good, would have cost us the game against a good team.

Saw a TV poll during the game. Seems all you UGA fans actually believe you’re still going to win the SEC East. Amazing!!! Knew you all were delusional but never thought you were THAT wacked! Guess SC loosing to AU really blew your skirts up.

@GT83…Lets see…Georgia has beaten Tech 9 out of the past 10 years..Hmm?….Still believe we play you guys later this season…Will it be 10 out of 11 years…Don’t know, but alot of football to play yet for both teams…..Also, I believe the majority of true dawg fans realize we have a long ways to go but we are still in the hunt as it stands now for the SEC East just as many others are…but it won’t be decided by some poll or ingorant bloggers that post on here more often than not…It will be decided on the field just as our game with Tech will be, as it has for the past 9 out of 10 years…Now enjoy your success to date and worry about the games Tech has upcoming….Hopefully you will keep your ranking and make our game just that much bigger….go dawgs

UGA has 2 losses to quality teams. Despite whiners and trolls on the blogs (who should be ignored since replying encourages them), we’re coming along, thank you. Tennessee has put numbers up against inferior opponents but not so much against Florida. Or defense should be more than adequate to stop them. The offense needs to step up and play consistently. If we continue to improve on offense, we’ll be OK. As for Tech, this isn’t a Tech blog…

Georgia has the 7th. rated defense in America. A great defense with an average offense will win a lot of championships. Just ask Alabama.

I was glad to see the Special Teams rushing the punter. The kickoff coverage is great. The defense is really coming around. When they learn how to hold onto an interception, they are going to be awesome. Crowell is the real deal. He will get stronger as the year goes on. Carlton Thomas is looking good as well. May need to look at moving Samuel back to defense as they need to continue putting pressure on the opposing QB. It’s a shame about C. Washington. That sack at the beginning of the game was text book. He was putting pressure on the QB all day. When the offense performs consistently, things will come together. Loved to see the team defend the home field and it was great to hear the crowd come alive. Keep the faith and Go Dawgs!

One more thing. When you draw the defense offsides, why take a knee? Why not complete the play and see if you can get more than five yards. Worse case scenario is you just get the five. Best case you catch the defense flat footed and score.

Brillant coaching job by Dan Mullen, send his team out to stomp on G, run that same sprint out to QB getting him killed almost every play, run Ballard inside where they were getting manhandled. Outcoached by CMR and assistants completely.

Wheres old rolled tide today after Rokevious Watkins got his QB sacked, false starts, got beat all night by young Barn defense. He could brag a little on the Tide

Believe Dawgs will run table, but LSU will be to tough in SEC title game.

Maybe Ol Bobo can coach Murray on the finer points of not staring down his primary receiver.Boy can’t even look the safety off.Walsh smiling after the missed FG let’s me know there is no competition with Bogotay.CMR needs to let Bogotay kick against UT and maybe this will wake ol Smiley Walsh up.

Brian’s comment – “At least this year, people shouldn’t be talking about how UGA is a “bunch of thugs.”
Well – Brian, the prez of UGA, the new athelitic director for UGA, and CMR have gotten sooo tired of being the laughing stock of the SEC (much less the country) for all the off-season arrest that they decided to do something about it – let’s just say the players are not suddenly more “saintly” – MUCH MUCH and MUCH just no-longer “appears” to happen any more. Hmm – now THAT is interesting.
I can hear it now – “but officer, I am a UGA football player” – officer responds as instructed – “oh – I’m so sorry – have a good day, son”.

Keep in mind Walsh did not flub the FG hold and he also was attempting a 48 yd kick, with the wind, but down on the field that can be tricky despite what it looks like from the stands…@the Diesel…not sure that smiling has anything to do with it…If Bogotay was the better kicker and was doing in practice, I’m sure he would be the guy…Walsh will be there when we need him, and deserves the benefit of the doubt…Amazing how easy you forget what he has done in his career for the dawgs…Not even going to comment on your absurd comments about Murray…Maybe you could stand back there and deliver when you O-line blocking breaks down and you are getting hammered…don’t know many QB’s that can overcome that…buit hey its easy to bash these young men sitting behind a computer, isn’t it?…..

Ga needs to dump the ball 4 to 5 yards on a crossing rt or on a slant rt on 1st more often. Need more 2nd and 5’s. Offense just can’t score like they should and hold onto the damn ball. How many times did Bama turn the ball over due to an ill advised throw…..NONE. QUIT TURNING THE BALL OVER!!!!!! If you turn the ball over 3 to 4 times a game and not score on your possessions you are going to either continue to squeak by or get your doors blown off.

Dawgster,I will agree with you about the wind in Sanford/I am not forgetting what Walsh has done.As far as Murray,my comment was directed more toward Bobo who is the Qb coach as far as the staring the primary receiver down.Murray does it when he has time to throw.Maybe this will clear it up for you

Mississippi State letterman last year, sophomore jersey # 5 Nickoe Whitley is captured on photo doing number 1 on our famed Georgia Hedges during the football game Saturday, 1 October 2011. This player should be arrested, and suspended from further SEC play, making the 70-man Mississippi State traveling roster. Their University should see to this, themselves.

Couldn’t agree more. And calling C.Washington a thug because he got a DUI is absurd. He made a mistake just like ALL of have at one time or another. He’ll pay the price and move on, as will the team; as have most of us after we’ve made a mistake. Yes, it’s unfortunate and maddening. But what’s done is done.

And, absurd comments about CMR and CMB (eg “the worst offensive coordinator in the history of college football”?). We win and they still get bashed. We won the durn game folks. If all you can do is find the negatives even in a win, the Dawgs don’t need you as a “fan”. The first half showed the potential is there and that CMB knows something about calling plays, and coaching. Yes, the O has some work to do. I believe they’ll put in the work and get better. I can almost guarantee that if we beat the Vowels, the usual Negative Nellies will be out in force, as per the usual. And the same ones will tell us what plays and players they “should” be using. Go figure.
