UGA fans can show support for the team by showing up Saturday

dog LOGONothing is a sure thing in college football, but Georgia shouldn’t have too much trouble picking up its first win of the season against Coastal Carolina. So the biggest uncertainty about Saturday’s game is whether the game will continue UGA’s string of home sell-outs, and even if it does, how many Dogs fans actually will show up to cheer the team on in a one-sided nonconference match-up.

Unsold tickets to this game keep popping up, first when the opponents returned some and now with unclaimed UGA student tickets going on sale to the general public today. The athletic association says tickets can be purchased prior to 3 p.m. Friday online or by calling the ticket office at 1-877-542-1231.

And tickets will also be sold Saturday at the east end will-call windows beginning at 10 am., which reminds me of those Saturdays of my youth when kids could line up on the morning of a game for cheap “high school” tickets. Unfortunately, there won’t be any discount this time; they’ll still be the full $45.

As for those of us who already have tickets to the game, the decision remains on whether we’ll show up. My wife and I will be there, but several other fans I’ve talked to this week have been undecided about going. After all, it’s only Coastal Carolina.

Yes, but it’s also one of only a half-dozen opportunities this season to see the Dogs play Between the Hedges, and I can’t see passing that up, no matter who the opponent is.

I’m not a big fan of UGA President Michael Adams, but I like how he put it Thursday: “I’d love to see the stadium full Saturday for probably what will not be the most high-profile opponent we’ll play this year. I go to the locker room. I know these young men. I know a number of our student-athletes. We had a heck of an effort last Saturday. There’s nobody here who likes to win more than I do. But it’s time for us as a community to get behind this team, support them from now ’til the end of the season.”

Some fans already have thrown in the towel on this season after only two games, but others are like Eric Zeier and think Georgia can run the table, as Adams urged the players after the South Carolina loss. Whether you’re that optimistic or not, if you call yourself a Georgia Bulldogs fan and you are able to go to Saturday’s game, I hope you’ll do so.

For those who can’t, the game will be televised on a pay-per-view basis. Cable and satellite systems in both Georgia and South Carolina will offer the telecast for $34.95 and commercial establishments may purchase the game for $400, so I imagine most area sports bars will have it on. For viewers in other states, the game will be available on ESPN Gameplan and ESPN3 online; the ESPN feed will be blacked out in Georgia and South Carolina, though fans in those two states will be able to access the broadcast online at georgiadogs.com for the same price as the pay-per-view.

Production of the game will be handled by CSS with Bob Neal doing play by play and Buck Belue as color analyst.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and it should be a fairly glorious fall day with the high expected to be in the mid-70s. The 1971 Bulldogs, led by my old classmate Andy Johnson, will be honored at halftime.

Even at 0-2, it doesn’t get any better than Saturday in Athens. So let’s fill those seats!

Go Dogs!

@ DC
Mullen showed us his great offensive mind last night (did you watch the game?) two field goals…I’m not a fan of Bobo, but he’s head and shoulders better than Mullen calling plays. Mullen at Florida, Tebow run up the middle, Mullen at MSU, Relf run up the middle.

Why go see a 0-2 team and the “Hollywood” sunglasses coach when you watch better football on TV where you can see some excellent play calling and coaching instead of just mediocre!!!

Next head coach? Bill Parcells? Dan Mullen? I thought all you know-it-alls had this thing figured out…guess not. Hey, how about Jim Tressell, hear he’s available and then you can wear your sweater vest!

Mullen played against a very stout LSU defense..no shame in getting popped around against them. besides he has exceeded most expectations out at Miss ST..especially with the quality of recruits he gets each year..imagine if he got UGA’s recruiting class..just saying..if you think richt is the answer still you are living in the past..

Good luck to all this weekend. War eagle!

Just in Crowell is going to the NFL after the Coastal Carolina game. He failed basket weaving and will have to leave before the Auburn game.

What a shame. He was doing so well in learning his ABCs in remedial reading. And he was about to go on a field trip for his Psychology 101 course – Getting Along with Your Cellmate.

MR has without question has had two consecitive down years, but overall has a winning percentage of .727. The great Nick Saben, probably the best in college footbal at this time, only has a .708 winning percentage. My point is all coaches go through ups and downs. Mark Richt is a very good coach and will get UGA back to the top.

Anyone else watch the LSU game last night? Man, that was some SEC football…Close your eyes for a minute and it could have been Vince Dooley and Johnny Majors down on the sidelines…Fun game to watch

“My point is all coaches go through ups and downs. Mark Richt is a very good coach and will get UGA back to the top.”

This. Then add on top that Ricth represents me and my alma mater with the upmost class then… It’s going to be a stretch to get rid of him.

1. Do the kids still play hard for him?

2. Is he really a direct problem? (Most of you are too quick to answer this one.)

3. Is he an embarrasment to me and my school?

4. Do we field a competetive team? Do other teams see UGA as an easy W?

Those are the questions I ask myself when deciding if our head coach should be fired.

This is Bull. I have a lake house in South Carolina and have Dish AND the ESPN PAID game day package and getting blacked out. I don’t want to see N. Mexico St and the Taliban play. $ 129 bucks down the drain. Fool me once…….Not next year.

@DC and others that seem to have the answer..not taking anything away from Coach Mullen, but lets see what is track record is after 10 years as we have with Coach Richt…Its real easy to go after a coach after they have had one successful season or maybe they were an productive OC when they had the best player in college football…not so easy now for MIss St, although they appear to be a good team…Whether a change should or should not be made at UGA doesn’t mean that the next guy will be the answer…Kind of like putting in the 2nd team QB…Everybody wants to see what they can do, but alot of times the results are minimum at best…Pesonally I feel that with the changes that have been made in several areas will pay benefits for the dawgs at some point this season and next to go along with alot of undeveloped talent that we have and will get this recruiting season….When all is said and done we again will get the Number 1 RB in the country along with some other very talented players…The future is bright in my opinion, but unfortunately many of you don’t see the possibilities for this team….but you will be the first to jump back on that bandwagon when things turn around…Wont You?…..Can’t wait for Sat…Will be there as always and support the team, coaches and players…I’ll let our AD and Uga president decide our coaches fate at the end of season….but until then I will be there along with my son and possibly future dawg, but thats a story for another time….go dawgs

“4. Do we field a competetive team? Do other teams see UGA as an easy W?”

This seems like a pretty low standard. With our facilities and recruiting base, we should CONSISTENTLY be amongst the best. Settling for just being a competitive team which is not an easy W for other teams seems like being happy with mediocrity.

Adams was very careful with what he said about Richt, and there is no doubt he is pulling for him, Any hint of success this year brings him back, even 7-5, which will be sold as an improvement, although McGarity, IMO, would want a new coach at 7-5, he’ll be overruled, IMO

Maybe the lack of fannies will ...........

Maybe if “only” 60,000-68,00 fans show, then the staff might get it. Players play for themselves or their game day attitudes. Always been that way. Pride? They do play for that but IF they want to. It starts with them.

Murray will have a huge day …………….always does vs below average to fair teams but in big games, he is THE CHOKE ARTIST of the program so far.

Go Dogs.

Not saying I have all the answers but its extremely evident that the SEC has passed richt…

Heck..look at AU as the benchmark of a conference passing a coach by…Tommy Tuberville..decent coach but horrible at recruiting…AU knew it was time for him to go..i was upset when he left (great guy)..but looking back..it was the right thing to do.
