Should UGA fans be optimistic despite all the question marks?

Aaron Murray is a big reason for optimism in Athens. What are some others? (Associated Press)

The players officially “report” to UGA today, though most of them have been in Athens working out and/or going to school all summer. The first practice is Thursday. And then we can all start obsessing over the reports over which line is dominating the other, who’s tweaked their hamstring, and all the other joys of college football in August.

Major questions remain to be answered before the Dogs meet Boise State in the Dome. Will anyone step up to fill the gaping hole in our offensive production created by the departure of A.J. Green and Kris Durham? Will any of the tailbacks look like they know what they’re doing? Will the offensive line stay healthy long enough to jell? Can the linebacking corps overcome its inexperience?

Lots to worry about if you’re the worrying sort, which it seems most college football fans are.

But on the other side, the infusion of fresh, exciting young talent is likely to be the greatest we’ve seen in several years in Athens. The Dogs finally will have a legitimate nose guard this year (maybe two) to help Todd Grantham’s defense work the way it’s supposed to. Aaron Murray returns as the consensus best quarterback in the conference. And Georgia’s stacked at tight end and has the nation’s best special teamers.

So before we get into the ups and downs of preseason practice, let’s put a positive spin on all this. What about the 2011 Georgia Bulldogs makes you the most optimistic? Murray? Isaiah Crowell? The schedule? Share your thoughts on why this should be a great year to be a Georgia Bulldog …

Ive have given you facts and not just opinion

Im still waiting on an original response from you instead of the same crap of Troll, your nothing but a Tech or Florida fan crap, for fans that are fed up with the crap that has gone on here. They have an opinion as well.

Just because it doesnt line up with your opinion doesnt give you the right to sit there and say they are not true UGA fans

Somebody needs to tell Murray we don’t need no more cheerleaders, we need a leader. If Murray makes the transition from cheerleader to leader, and wins some big games this time around, will be a big year.

Opps, looks like this was posted a couple of weeks too early.

Issues? Problems? To what are you referring? It is August 1st and the ajc homers have spent the summer throwing out the usual UGA has the best QB, WR, RB, DL, LB, CB evah, even if we have no idea who they may be on Sept 3rd.

Who let this out before the implosion?

While I’d agree Murray hasn’t had any significant team accomplishments to date, Murray’s team did win the game on G-Day, it’s a small step, but a first for Murray. Granted, Lemay led the game winning drive for Murray’s team on G-Day, but bottom line, Murray’s team won.

Anyone remember Murray saying things that resemble rah rah cheer leading? The few things I recall were pretty critical about his own, and the teams shortcomings last year.

I guess half the bloggers on here expect a team player to be putting down his own team. What in the hell’s fire would you expect a player to say about his own team. You all act like Murray is 22 people, or did some of you not know that football is a team sport. The kid was a freshman last year, put up good stats. and had very little support most of the time on the offensive side of the ball. Our defense, in a 3-4 formation was also brand new, and didn’t have the big uglies we needed, but I suppose that is Murray’s fault as well, to some of you buffoons. Most of you folks on here are so full of hate and jealousy, when it comes to UGA, you seem to abandon, all intelligent forethought and reasoning. 31 more days folks and then, you will either have some legitimacy in your claims, or a new handle.
