After two big wins at home, the Dogs take their rehab project on the road this week. (Brant Sanderlin / AJC)
I’m getting back into the work routine today after being on the disabled list, and I figure that’s a good time for a quick check on the confidence level in the Bulldog Nation.
I’m trying to decide which Georgia team is likely to show up in Lexington Saturday night, the one that looked dominant against Tennessee and Vanderbilt, or the one that looked so hapless against Mississippi State and Colorado.
As the pendulum has swung back this week with talk about the Dogs being back in the SEC race, the showdown with Kentucky looks bigger and bigger.
Let’s face it, while the wins over UT and Vandy did a lot to get Georgia back on track, neither opponent was a very good team.
Which raises the question of just how good Georgia is. Have the Dogs really turned the corner? I liked what rarely quoted offensive line coach Stacy Searels told the Bulldogs Blog when that question was put to him.
Said Searels: “You gotta go out every Saturday and compete. If you think you’ve arrived because you’ve won two games in a row, you’re not very smart, I’ll say that.”
Yes, the Dogs have made progress since Starkville and Boulder. Now they’ve got to prove they can do it consistently against better competition. And at night on the road.
So what do you think? Is your confidence in Mark Richt’s team restored or are you taking a wait-and-see stance? Has Georgia really improved that much the past two weeks, or was it all about the Vols and Commodores not being that good?

vandy and TN are not that good, but still SEC competition. The scores of those games show a definite change in the way the team is playing, but I am still waiting to see how the team plays against Kentucky before I get any iota of confidence.

I saw some 4-3 last week and a lot of 5 – 2 fronts last week from the Dawgs. Anyone who thinks Grantham is not adjusting his philosophy as he learns about the SEC hasn’t been watching.
The Dawgs will be fine. Coach Richt is taking control… The players are taking note… When King comes back, he will run like a man with something to prove… A lot like Ealey ran last week.
Murray’s drops were quicker out of the I Formation. He looked very sharp, more poised, more decisive….Bobo’s play calling looks a lot better when the players execute…
Running game is coming. Ealey wants to prove something…. Pass to open up the run is the philosophy. With our receivers…..AJ… Durham…T. King….Orson Charles…..These guys play to their potential, nobody can stop em…. Just ask Big Bad Bruce!
Could be a really fun rest of the season! GO DAWGS!

Good question – I wish I knew, but I think confidence and momentum is so important in college football that even if the answer is Tenn and Vandy are that bad, UGA’s in a much better place than they were 3 weeks ago.

Look, other very good teams didn’t beat Tennessee or Vandy as badly as Georgia did. Georgia had Vandy and Tennessee both well in hand by half time. What other quality team did that to either of the two teams?
It looks as though Coach Richt has righted the ship just as any good coach would do. I believe Georgia’s problems with the losses were directly related to the mental side of the game. Georgia has very good coaches, very good recruits all with skills, and talent. Everything was in place except the mental side which includes the discipline of the players as well.
I believe doubters will see by the end of the Kentucky game that Georgia has put it all together.

Tenn almost beat LSU, I’d say LSU thinks Tenn’s pretty good. Vanderbilt put up 14 on Ole Miss, and 21 on UConn.
The defense is in the top 20 in the country in total defense and in scoring. It’s not a fluke. Includes stats from teams like Arkansas, and South Carolina.
Georgia’s defense played South Carolina and Arkansas better than Alabama and has improved by at least 10 points less in every SEC game against Ark, SC, Vandy & Tenn than last season.
Kentucky is an explosive offense. Will be a test, but the Dogs defense is hitting their stride, as you will see Saturday.
Grantham is no fluke, compare him to Saban’s 1st year at Alabama in 07′, and you’ll see Grantham’s AHEAD of Nick Saban so far. Impressive. Belin has his inside LB’s turning into tackling machines, and Houston is leading the SEC in sacks and tackles for loss. Lakotas’s guys have played well, except for giving up the deep ball on a handful of plays. Garner’s D-Line is finally starting to be a factor.
The O-Line is cooking, Ealey’s back on track, AJ’s back, Durham’s playing lights out, the tight ends are clicking, King’s playing well, Murray’s getting better, this offense will be a nightmare for Kentucky to try and stop.

It’s somewhere in the middle. Tennessee has no depth, and Vandy beat Ole Miss badly as well as almost beat Northwestern. If UGA loses in Lexington, all this is moot. They will finish no btter than 5-7 with losses to Florida, Auburn and possibly Ga Tech. This Kentucky game is the most critical game for UGA in years.

STOP looking at who they played. Look at HOW they played. The team as a whole looked different in a good way. This team looked different than the teams that lost 4 straight. Even then they should have won a couple that they didn’t. The team looks to be a different team, and it doesn’t matter who they played they look better, and I don’t wanna hear we played two bad teams

By simply writing an article like this, you are opening the door for every Tech idiot to come on here and bash our team for winning the last 2 weeks, when positivity is REALLY what we need right now.
WHY WHY WHY does every writer at the AJC try and bring disgrace to UGA??
In Birmingham, the media LOVES the Tide. In New Orleans, the media LOVES the Tigers. In Dallas, the media LOVES the Longhorns. In Orlando, the media LOVES the Gators….. and on and on.
But in Atlanta, the 8th largest media outlet in the country, and very powerful source…. ALL we do is bash the Dawgs. Don’t worry. Recruits are reading all of it. And then we can write more negative articles about how they didn’t chose the Dawgs. And wonder why………

Go to the Athens Banner for info. at least it is neutral at worst but definately more positive that the AJC.
Example: Shultz and Bradleys first post regarding the C.King situation was theft of electronic equipment…. then comes out later that it was only a traffic violation and failure to show for the court hearing …. Bill, Tennessee had LSU beat in Baton Rouge but had that darn penalty. So give the DAWGS a little credit for drilling the Volunteers. And Vandy beat Ole Miss at their place, so again, give the DAWGS some credit for killing the Commodores. Still two SEC teams and they were both MUST win games and after the debacle in Boulder I only saw us beating Idaho State the rest of the way. Now we are back in it, so be happy with what we’ve got. The past 2 weeks are a step in the right direction. Now it’s time to take another step. The Dawgs are playing a significantly better team (at least offensively), and it’s on the road. We’ll see if they have continued to improve each week as the coaches have stated. But let’s not get carried away, this team still has a lot of work to do to get to where they should be. Remember, we’re talking about Kentucky, not a top 10 team. Think about it, we’re worried about playing Kentucky. That is not an acceptable position for this program. The Dawgs should absolutely dominate UK, just like the past 2 weeks. Now we’ll see if they can do it. Go Dawgs!

It’s pretty sad that we are in the 8th game of the season and we are asking if “we’ve arrived” in a game with Kentucky. It’s 100% Richt and this staffs fault for not identifying the proper talent in preseason and putting the correct players out on the field (on offense). The defense has been more than adequate and has kept this team in virtually every game, it’s the offense that has been HORRIBLE.
It can’t be overlooked that once again this coaching staff has underachieved and yet some how we are championing the cause of mediocrity. I dare anyone to come up with a recent (within the past 5 years) were Richt and his staff have “over achieved” or “surprised” anyone with the outcome of a season. Even the year that UGA was preseason #1, the local writers in the SEC voted the Gators to win the east…goes to show that Richt and his vaunted staff are not highly regarded and need to be replaced. HE HAS NOT EARNED ANOTHER SEASON!!!

I am a little leary and think that maybe the competition was that bad. They did for sure what others recieved from us. Turnovers and costly penalties.
I hope this woke us up but the talk of now winning the east scares me. I think we need to take one game at a time and not get ahead of ourselves and see where that leaves us at the end of the year.

I dont see us being as good as some would say but I sure think we can compete with Kentucky. Im real anxious to see if our D can shut them down.I feel pretty good that our offense can put up the points to win. Don’t forget Vandy scored 50 something on Eastern Michigan the week before we played them. They were ranked 3rd in the SEC in pass defense and our QB put up 250+ on them…I don’t think they are good teams by SEC standards, but they can play…what I took away are some really good prcatice games that allowed our guys to work against better competition than at practice and at game speed. You can see reaction now as a matter of fact opposed to that “thinking and THEN doing”..they are now just “doing” – reacting….I watched Kentucky last week and they do in fact have a much better team than Vandy or Tennessee. They will have a packed and loud crowd because they have as much riding on this game as we do. I think though that at the end of the day it will come down to turn overs and penalties at dumb times…how does our special teams play? In other words, I think we will be fine against this Kentucky team if we don’t beat ourselves – and even THAT trend is moving in the right direction…will be a tough game but based on what I see now, we should take this…lots riding oin it going into Jax… Finally for me I can watch a game at a decent time!!!!

Yes, they were that bad, but I still think UGA is “on track.” They didn’t struggle with Vandy, and better Georgoa teams have, and with Temnnessee they gave no quarter. So, while anyone has to admit that the competition was not tough, they will also have to admit that Georgia proved its mettle.

Couple things – who cares if Vandy beat Ole Miss? Jax St did too. And second, everyone knows or should know that comparative scores are irrelevant. Florida beat UT pretty handily in Knoxville and LSU barely beat UT in Baton Rouge on fluke penalty. If comparative scores mattered Florida would have killed LSU in Gainesville. Except they lost.

In the game of college football it is almost impossible to gauge the greatness of a team or the poor play of a team each week. Take the SEC teams for example: Cats get blow out by UF,but beat Carolina.Tenn is one play away from upsetting LSU,but get blown out by UGA. Vandy beats Ole Miss and scores 52 on E.Mich, then lays an egg in Athens.Bama looses to Carolina. Each week each team seems to have a different personality. With the expections being AU and LSU. Any SEC team can beat another SEC team at any given time. So is it fair to question the UGA wins over TENN and Vandy? Will it be a better measuring stick against Kentucky? I think the same conversation will still being held next week ig UGA wins only this time we will debating if the win over the Cats vaildates UGA to beat UF

If UK uses Cobb as a QB, then our OLB’s need to be very disciplined in their rush lanes and not lose contain. They did not do that in Boulder and we paid for it. We also need to be careful if he lines up @reeiver to not roll too much attention his way and leave their other receiver #8(i can’t recall his name)un attended. they actually have a pretty formidable tandem. I would to see us grind it out and pound ‘em , use up the clock, and get back to Athens with a win. I think if we get into a shootout we are in real trouble.

When you’re playing well, you dominate inferior teams. Georgia wasn’t able to do that against Mississippi State or Colorado; they did it against Tennessee and Vandy. The question in my mind is whether that reflects improvement or simply an ability to play better at home. This weekend will go a long way towards answering that question–if UGA wins decisively (the game in hand midway through the 4th qtr), the trip to Jacksonville might just be fun this year.

It absolutely cracks me up when I see Tech fans say UGA is irrelevant because we haven’t won a NC since 1980.
Tech acts as if they won a NC in the last couple years or something. 1990, they GAVE THEMSELVES a title, but didn’t Colorado celebrate their 1990 NC team while we were there a couple weeks ago?
Even if Tech did win an outright NC in 1990 (which NOBODY outside Tech Nation, all few hundred of them, thinks), what is the big difference in 20 years and 30 years when speaking on this topic??
There are 120 teams battling for a NC. That means in 119 years from TODAY, at least 1 will be talking about their 120 year NC drought. (and we all know it will be more like 100 teams). To win one is pretty darn special. Tech doesn’t just win them at will like they would like to think. And either do 99.9% of all programs.
So next time you Techies want to pull 1980 out to feel like you are not a virgin, put the whole picture into perspective.

Bill, it’s both, isn’t it? UT and VU aren’t very good. And, I’m no football expert, but it seems to me that UGA’s coaches have finally figured out which personnel to have on the field and at which positions. It took a while for the new D coaches to figure that out because they were, well, new, and still had to figure out how best to deploy their personnel in actual games–always different from practice. Something similar seems to have happened on the O Line. Plus, AJ’s back. Also, “Old Lady Luck” as Larry would say, has decided to smile on the Dawgs again. The bounces went the wrong way for 4 weeks, and went our way the last 2 (e.g., UT turnovers and Vandy missing out on a surefire early INT for a TD). Can’t underestimate that! We’ll beat UK, but have to assume a loss to UF, just based on recent history.

Bill,
You are asking the $1,000,000 question. Looking at the season thus far, you have to scratch your head. Of all the things that went wrong, lack of concentration appeared to be the achilles heel. The fumbles were lack of concentration/execution but I have to really question the early season offensive philosophy that was placing so much pressure on a defense in transition. The first thing CMR has ever said that left me dumbfounded was when he was questioned about the offense not helping out the defense and he basically came across as saying that the defense is the reason the offense was not successful I think that in a nut shell has described his coaching tenure. He wants to be patient on the offense, not force the issue, and rely on the defense to hold on. I think that philosophy is what put those games early in the season into the loss column. Have we turned a corner? i believe so. Ultimately, the offense has got to find better ways of being productive to allow the defensive system to work well. Again i point out that our offense was sluggish because we never opened up the play book to attack. When we got down early, it changes how the defense plays.
Case in point… look at baseball. If a starting pitcher gets a couple of runs early, chances are, he pitches a lot more relaxed and tries to do the things he does well. When he is behind, he is looking at trying to minimize his mistakes to “keep” his team in the game. The offensive needs to score first and often early to open up the defensive attack scheme.
If that happens, I think you will see a W this saturday… if not, another L

Wouldn’t we all love to play our schedule over again right now?

Dawg Day where did that come from? I looked back and observed no posting with any tech fan saying anything at all about UGA here. Did your boss just yell at you or soemthing and just because he graduated from GT you became upset and decided to rant? Oh and the resaon some GT fans give the idiot dawg fans grief over that is because every year some of you go on and on about how dominant UGA is and act like the road to the NC passes through Athens. Just like all the idiot band wagon UGA fans had nothing to say and stayed away from GT blogs for weeks then Tenn and Vandy fall and once again some of you think you are world beaters.
Ed. note: This does not pertain to the rational UGA faithful who can actually be objective.

UGA won those games because of inept QBs. We have problems with mobile QBs who escapes for positive yards after the defense collapses the pocket. This game will get us prepped for Auburn and Cam Newton. Run a 4-3 defense, with our fastest LB spying the QB…and we’ll be fine.

This weekend will be a big measuring stick for how far UGA has come this year. The wins against Tennessee and Vandy were impressive but at the end of the day, they were Tennessee and Vandy. Not trying to knock on the dawgs, just trying to keep some perspective. As for Dawgman.. I am a Tech fan but I also like to keep up with the dawgs because my wife and many family and friends are dawg fans. I try to keep it classy but sometimes you can’t ignore the ignorant rants of some of the UGA faithful who live and breath nothing but Dawg. Try looking at the GT posts from time to time and I will guarantee you it will not take 3-6 posts on the blog before an UGA guy comes on there bashing Tech..

Cam Newton, he was a Florida commit that got kicked off the team. Auburn took a chance on him this past year.
You have to remember that UGA had 3 QBs that we liked at the time Newton came out of JUCO…UGA didn’t need Cam Newton at the time and I doubt that he would’ve come here if GA offered. There was plenty of competition at the time and UGA runs a Pro-style offense.

It’s obvious that the defense is learning more and more about what each player has to do on the 3-4. UGA could have beaten Tenn. and Van. much worst. The reason UGA has done so much better is because AJ has spread out the other teams’ defense and the run has fed off of the passing game. Bobo should have realized, this year you have to establish the passing game first, then the running game next. We lost the SC, ARK and the COLO. games because when you focus on the wrong thing, the running game , and if you aren’t ahead in the game all you will do is help the other team run out the clock. I know in the SEC it is important to establish the running game but UGA has some of the best receivers in the country and by far the beat I have ever seen at UGA.
I remember all the dropped passes when Stafford was at UGA. If we had these receivers back then, UGA would have won the NC. We need to take advantage of our receivers while they are here because our running attack will be our spotlight on offense soon enough.

The game at Kentucky, I’d say they are 10 point favorites, at least. Also, any dawg that fumbles, acts up, takes himself out of the game and pretends injury, should be put in a cage with Herschel and be on the receiving end of 3 body slams by the Heisman winner.

Why is common sense so uncommon?
There is a tiny rip in the fabric of the space-time continuum that is located deep underground in Athens, Georgia. This occurred almost thirty years ago when Jan Kemp exposed the rotten, unspeakable way that UGA was sending sthletes through the now infamous “remedial studies,” with many athletes playing four years and never attending a real college class.
Unfortunately, the once-tiny rip has become a giant hole through which goodness and common sense have completely escaped, leaving Athens a dead, burnt-out, and joyless place fit only for thugs and morons.
It’s actually a bit more complicated than that, but it would take a rocket scientist to understand, and the closest ones are fifty miles away at Georgia Tech.
And that’s just one of the reasons why UGA is known far and wide as The Cesspool of the South.
Did I mention red panties and the Fulmer Cup?

Who knows? We will know something after the KY game. Ky is decent, which is apparently about as good as it gets in the weak SEC East. I’m thinking SC, KY, FL and UGA are all about equal. Obviously TN and Vandy are not very good at all.
If we can get by KY, we have a shot at beating FL. Auburn seems to be improving, but has had some moments where they did not look that good. Tech seems pretty weak (losing to a terrible Kansas team, stc.). So the schedule is not that difficult from here on out. Could finish strong considering the miserable start. But only time will tell.

AJ’s return coincided with the team hitting the track a little better. The value of experience on the 3-4 will help us at the end of the season. We are certainly better than we were at the beginning of the season. Will that stop the losses this year? We shall see. Should everyone jump on the Fire Richt bandwagon if we lose a couple? No. I think we are seeing the slow birth of the next wave of winning at UGA.

Tech didn’t say we own the SEC after beating Vandy and Miss St last year. What we said is that UGA shouldn’t act like those wins ment that much. Wondering how good the dogs are, is getting a bit old. The dogs have feasted on hapless teams to beome a three win team. The Vols and Commodores are not good or even average teams. Playing Kentucky maybe a good game to watch, however the dogs should win and could win out, as you boys are so fond of saying. Bottom line is dogville has the ability yearly to win the sec and be in the hunt for the mnc, but they cannot put it together. What is the problem? Even herschel is weighing in now. Until these five star recurits begin to play to their ability, beating tech every year will just about be all that dogville has. You will be a region team. Nothing more.

This UGA team is miles away better than last year’s version, despite the W-L record, and appears to have fixed whatever mental bugs were screwing with them early in the year. Bill, welcome back, and you pose a great question. Are we back? Did the last two weeks prove we are better? Clearly a maybe (oxymoron)?
We have to beat Kentucky at night in Lexington, which in past years we could easily, but lately with Kentucky’s competitiveness and resurgence we may lose. Just not sure we can answer that question by beating Kentucky and/or Florida this season. But win both and the Auburn game, it would be safe to say, Georgia is back.
I have been pleased though with the effort our coaches and players are giving. These players could have quit at 1-4, but we have fought back with two strong wins, yes against inferior opponents at home. I guess what I am trying to say is that if we lose to Kentucky it may not indicate whether we are back or not. We could play well and still lose the game.
Hartline and Cobb are real gamers, so I have my fingers crossed that Grantham’s “doghouse” dawgs will play like they have in the past 2 weeks. It is the only way we can win this game.

In the Colorado game we showed flashes of how we played the last 2 games (when AJ was getting the ball). There were times in that game where both the Offense and Defense were dominating CU. However after AJ got cramped up UGA just absolutely fell apart on both sides of the ball and didn’t recover.

Herschel Walker didn’t say that at all.
That is what you said.
You also say that I keep repeating myself when the facts are that we are firmly in the news for 11 arrests since March 7 and now 2 NCAA probes into illegal benefits to Georgia Bulldogs players at both wide receiver and at running back. Both are our Starters. Both have missed numerous games and chunks of games in their time here, and largely those have been our games we LOST.
Losing at 12-11 over the years 2006 2007 2008 2009 and now 2010 to SEC East teams has grown worrisome as it has marched on. Yet, YOU POSTERS repeatedly make up your LIST OF EXCUSES that our players do not care about the team and that 12-11 vs a SERIOUSLY DOWN SEC EAST 2006 2007 2008 2009 and 2010 is really really great. Best coaching at UGA ever, you repeat yourself. Best Quarterback in the history of football, you repeatedly state.
TOUGH YEAR you reiterate, amid your CRIES into the darkness that our team needs our SUPPORT this ONE YEAR.
It’s NOT BEEN 1 YEAR, not been 2 years either; but, it has been instead FIVE (5) YEARS now this season. Vandie opening kick-off and CMR this morning at 7:15 am on AM750 said that Sailors # 5 is great. Lifts him up to The Bulldog Nation by name for his play. And, what was his play ? He TAUNTED the Vandie kick-off returner after his teammate tackled him. He got into his face, he jarred at him, he walked completely around him, taunting him repeatedly but got no penalty for reasons only the Officials can explain.

Cam Newton, we have no room for on our Roster ? Are you out of your mind ? Cam Newton like so many other recruits in this great state of Georgia, we whiffed on getting. Don’t bring your LAME EXCUSES in here for our lack of star power on Offense, Defense and Special Teams when the recruits themselves make it plain as day to everyone that our coaching staff is weak, that we don’t recognize talent, that we play FAVORITES instead, that we bury on the Depth Chart better players who are younger, that we totally lack any discipline on the field off the field or in the locker-room – and that this has killed our recruiting.
You think if I am not allowed to come in here and say that, that the recruits we do get are so stupid that they don’t or would not see it on their own.
That I should support this crappy excuse of a “coaching staff” because it is a TOUGH YEAR you tell me. Yeah 11 arrests and 2 NCAA suspensions for multiple games each with possible sanctions of VACATED win over the vols and over La Lafayette in a season which then probably will read 1-6 to-date after 5 losses last year and 4 losses the 2006 season and 3 losses against the only 3 teams we played in 2008 with NO SEC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME appearances even after 2005 is a TOUGH YEAR to endure this season.
Even tougher when you honestly look at our recruiting and discipline through the eyes of
HERSCHEL WALKER.

The Dawgs defense has played fairly well most of the season (especially the last 2 weeks). UK should be a litmus test for the Dawgs. UGA has had issues with “scrambling” QBs in the past, so they must contain Cobb. Overall, I’d say the key is establishing the run, controlling the clock/ball & scoring TDs in the red zone.

UGA’s offense will put points on the board in all 4 quarters and the defense will do enough to keep Hartline and Cobb from keeping up and matching our offense’s output. It will be a relatively high scoring game and UGA wins by 10.

You can say what you want, but LSU barely beat Tn and are a top ten ranked team. We beat Vandy by over 40, so we should be ranked higher than LSU. We will beat Kentucky by at least 30 points saturday and the Gators will go down 50-10. You heard it hear first.

It will all come down to how the Dawgs react to adversity in this game. There will be a big play for Kentucky that will fire up the crowd, and the way the Dawgs respond will dictate the rest of the game. Will they fold like they did in Boulder and Starkville or will they bow-up and make the Dawg fans proud. We’ll see.
is this what passes for articles at the ajc these days?

Bill, would love to have a G flag like the one on your site to fly from the mtn tops here in East Tennessee….As Coach Dooley said a few weeks ago, most of their troubles are between the ears, these two wins gets those ears cleaned out!

The key to the game is: burnt turnips.
Look for the burnt turnips and you will understand.

I’m dying to try some – where do GA fans buy their “Kool-Aid”? I’ve looked in Publix & Kroger, but can’t find any. Do I have to shop at the stores in Athens or something?
Then you get 2 whiners (Dawg Day & GBal – 10/21, 10:59am & 11:17am) b*tching about negative articles; as if nothing negative has been happening with their dogs recently! Fellas, get out of the candy-as* mentality – ONLY 1st place gets the trophy, not every team that competes!!
BTW … UT and Vandy are NOT good football teams! But GA did what they were supposed to do to bad teams … beat them bad. And I still don’t think UK is GA’s barometer on whether or not the dogs are good. It’ll be FL, Auburn, & GT. And just like many Jacket fans thinking GT is vastly impoved after convincing wins over VA & Midd Tenn St … tomorrow vs Clemson will be the barometer followed by VT & Miami before heading to Athens.

this is another step towards the SEC champ game and a birth in a BCS bowl. the first team in a BCS bowl game with 4 losses? a victory there will put us in a preseason ranking next year of top 5. back where the dawgs belong.

We are good enough to beat a lot of teams, but bad enough to lose to anyone. They still have to perform on the field and not make critical mistakes. Win the turnover battle, win the game.

Even if Dawgs beat KY there is still FL and Auburn to play. I’m won’t be convinced until the Dawgs win both of those games and also beat KY.
Look for a long season to get longer!

I’d say Georgia is almost as good as its talent level suggests it should be. The bigger question – what happened in weeks 2-5, and how could a team with so much potential seem so unprepared heading into the season?
That’s the aspect of Richt’s tenure, at least the last 4 years, that’s been so baffling. Fans who think that Georgia got robbed of a shot at the national title in ‘07 forget how dreadful we were the first half of the season with premium talent. 5-2 going into the UF game, but should have been 4-3 after a lucky escape against Vandy. The pollsters didn’t forget.
It’s possible that the same team that stunk up Columbia, Starkville and Boulder come end up as one of the better teams in the nation by year’s end – with no hardware to show for it.
Whatever – kick UF’s butt and I can live with the rest of the season.

We will certainly find out if the Van. and Tenn. games were a fluke or if the defense has really had the light bulb come on. I feel real good about the later. The defense looked a lot better in the last two games. Kentucky will be the perfect test. Stop Cobb and look convincing doing it and UGA will finish the season well and set up a great 2011. Not to mention it will sway the fence sitters recruits.

What amazes me is the negativity. Everyone just keeps feeding the Techies. Stop already! We have improved and will continue. This is a big game, but I look at every game as a big game. Any given Saturday, something can happen. Upsets are called that for a reason. Look at the top 4 in the BCS. Who the heck do they play? We gripe that they don’t play tough schedules, but we beat ourselves down for winning against even better opponents than they play. So what if Vandy is Vandy & UT is rebuilding, we still beat them & played well. We had fire!!!! Something I had not seen in a while.
SC screwed the pooch last week & the old ball coach made a horrible coaching decision. That’s FOOTBALL!!!! Yeah, Oregon had a real toughie last night against UCLA, but do you think their fans care that they beat a crappy team? Nope! It’s all about the W. Ugly or pretty, we all want the same thing.
This is what angers me about fellow UGA fans. We have to be the worst about kicking ourselves when we’re down. I personally don’t do it, but since I’m a Dawg, I have to lump myself in with all of you naysayers. I agree with Dawg Day. He’s spot on with his first post. When I’m at the games, I see it & if you don’t think those boys on the field see it, you’re wrong. The doubting, the sitting down, the faces….UGH!!! Get off your butts & keep cheering. Every other team in the country does it when they’re down by many points, why can’t we? Even when we are at home watching the games, we only sit during commercials. Sometimes, not even then.
This is my first time posting, but I read every article & every comment every single day. I’m just tired of the crap we feed to our opponents. We give them their food. Let’s starve them.
We have a great QB in Murray & will see great things from him. Despite what our opponents say, AJ is the BEST receiver in the country. And whoever the dipwad is who keeps calling him EBAY, do your research on how the jersey was sold. Our lines, O & D are finally coming together. It didn’t matter who we were playing, you could see it. They are finally playing as a team. That will get you everywhere.
I’m hoping for a W against KY. Pretty, ugly, however we get it, I’m always a Dawg. If we lose, we need to learn from it.
Let’s just GO DAWGS!!!! SIC ‘EM! Get on your red & black & wear it proudly.
