Dooley puts it all in perspective

Vince Dooley has the right perspective on Mark Richt. (Georgiadogs.com)

With writers and columnists in the border states determined to try and generate some heat under Mark Richt’s head coach’s seat (despite the fact that nobody who counts in Athens feels that way), Vince Dooley puts it all in perspective.

Dooley, who’s visiting his hometown of Mobile for his 60th high school reunion, talked with the Press-Register there and summed up the UGA situation pretty nicely:

“Once you establish a program at a high level and you win 10 ballgames pretty much every year, when you fall below that you become a victim of your own success a little bit,” Dooley said. “The other thing is that Florida has been on a roll of late. Our record against them is just atrocious the last 10 years.”

But, Dooley noted, while “this has been the first what you might call not-so-good year,” the other side of the coin for UGA is “you beat your rival that won the ACC and you won the bowl game. A lot of people would be celebrating, but not so [at Georgia].”

That’s because Richt set the bar high for himself with his first few seasons in Athens, and college football nowadays is all about what have you done for me lately?

Maybe you disagree with Vince and think there wasn’t any reason for celebration last season for UGA football. But like I’ve said before, anyone who believes 90 wins in nine seasons isn’t good enough should think back to the days before Richt arrived.

I’m confident whoever Georgia hires as the new AD will recognize what a good thing the school has in Richt.

The other part of this story is how the vols football players

ARE THE ATTRACTION at the bar

They advertise that the players on the football team are the only people who do not pay a cover charge

Therefore they are the attraction.

NCAA investigation on this incident forthcoming.

Love that the bar is so hi as to shoot for 10 games out of now 14 (includes division-II teams don’t forget) …. doubt any of the last 25 National Champions set their bar so low… conference is not in UF / AL’s vocabulary… There’ not enough fire in Athens to win it all… If Tiger just wanted a solid paycheck he could do that without winning anything … love him or hate Tiger he’s not satified with wiinning a conference… he wants to rule his sport – there’s no fire just content-dawgs….

Rumor has it that the Gators are considering moving their first home game in 2013-2014 season to the Georgia Dome to help improve recruiting in the ‘Peach State’. Unfortunately the state of Georgia has no really competitive teams in FBS football. UGA, a mid-tier SEC team, is the reining state championship team but really does not have any real competition.

Governor Purdue probably should file a protest with the GWCCA. You would think the Independence Bowl champion Bulldogs would take strong exception too.

Thank goodness that the Jan Kemp trial exposed Dooley for the sorry system of “remedial studies” and other crap that went on while Dooley was coach. You can trace the recruiting and coddling of thug athletes today at UGA to the system that Dooley created.

Dooley was planning to run for Congress, but Jan Kemp stopped him with her expose, God bless her.

In my opinion, Richt is the best coach Georga has had since Dooley. He has done an outstanding job. Can I say Go Devils without any UGA fans crap? That hurt.
