Dooley puts it all in perspective

Vince Dooley has the right perspective on Mark Richt. (Georgiadogs.com)

Vince Dooley has the right perspective on Mark Richt. (Georgiadogs.com)

With writers and columnists in the border states determined to try and generate some heat under Mark Richt’s head coach’s seat (despite the fact that nobody who counts in Athens feels that way), Vince Dooley puts it all in perspective.

Dooley, who’s visiting his hometown of Mobile for his 60th high school reunion, talked with the Press-Register there and summed up the UGA situation pretty nicely:

“Once you establish a program at a high level and you win 10 ballgames pretty much every year, when you fall below that you become a victim of your own success a little bit,” Dooley said. “The other thing is that Florida has been on a roll of late. Our record against them is just atrocious the last 10 years.”

But, Dooley noted, while “this has been the first what you might call not-so-good year,” the other side of the coin for UGA is “you beat your rival that won the ACC and you won the bowl game. A lot of people would be celebrating, but not so [at Georgia].”

That’s because Richt set the bar high for himself with his first few seasons in Athens, and college football nowadays is all about what have you done for me lately?

Maybe you disagree with Vince and think there wasn’t any reason for celebration last season for UGA football. But like I’ve said before, anyone who believes 90 wins in nine seasons isn’t good enough should think back to the days before Richt arrived.

I’m confident whoever Georgia hires as the new AD will recognize what a good thing the school has in Richt.

JZdawg, “The only reason CMR is even considered on the hot seat is because of the blowouts by UT and loss to UK last year.”

Good coaches do not lose games EVERY year to inferior opponents. CMR has at least one let down per season!

I tried to tell y’all that La’ Dick did us a favor by choosing Rocky Top. Laid up in a Knoxville jail after a big fight at the beer joint. Thats just another problem we don’t have to deal with. I heard he was with a feller with a case of the clap who was running through the beer joint hollering- My gooba on fi,my gooba on fi!

Good to get Dooley’s perspective. Right now, it’s true that Richt does not look like the best coach in the SEC. Earlier in the decade, one might have argued that he was at least one of the best 2. Time passes, perceptions change, based on opportunities and performance. Dooley spent a long time in the Bear’s shadow, finally breaking out with players like Walker and Hoage in the early 80’s. He knows that playing consistent, high quality football will pay off over time. Richt will get his chances again, just as Dooley ultimately did. And, like Dooley, he will do it the Georgia way–with class, tact, toughness and, to use a forgotten word, honor. Some people think that a Nat’l Title is the alpha and omega of college fb. They’d be willing to pay the price that USC, Clemson and other programs paid in integrity to win a title, or that UT paid in trading away its tradition for a year of high risk gamble. The good news is, these people have short memories, and when Richt returns UGA to championship form (and he will), they’ll be back on the bandwagon, just like all the “Dump Dooley” hand-wringers from ‘77 and ‘79 became “aw, I knew it all the time” supporters in the 80’s. Unfortunately for the new crop of fair weather supporters, we’ll be able to throw your recorded-for-eternity email comments back it you when the next trophy comes to Athens!

No wonder NOBODY reads Sports Illustrated Magazine anymore. They need to stick to the swimsuit pictures and leave football alone. They obviously have no idea what a good coach and bad coach are. To rank someone with Coach Richt’s record in the SEC as the #11 coach in the league causes the Magazine to lose any credibility it might have ever had. Obviously someone at SI doesn’t like Coach Richt. Haven’t seen this but if this is in fact true, I will never buy another SI nor will I look at a free one in the Dentist or Doctor’s office….

After not doing it at all his first 6 years, Richt has authorized uniform changes in 4 games the past three seasons, two of them ugly losses. And of course, the endzone group dance in Jax. I first noticed motivation problems with the team during the ‘05 Florida game when Georgia came out flat and looking as if they hadn’t seen a single tape of UF (very average that year), and it seems to have gotten progressively worse as time goes on. I think Richt lost the ability to motivate the team somewhere down the road. If that happens, he wouldn’t be the first. But if he can’t fix the problem then at some point the admin. will find someone who can. Richt would have no trouble at all landing somewhere else.

Georgia has one of the highest football budgets in the universe and is paying Mark Richt $2.8 million plus bonuses and endorsements. I don’t think the Dawg Nation should expect anything but Championships Plural. Richt is welcome to “land elsewhere” anytime he wants, the sooner the better.
Opportunity Cost is Opportunity Lost. Muschamp and Smart are going to be Head Coaches somewhere within the next two years. Richt is over the hill and lost the direction of the program. He’s fallen and can’t get up. It’s time for a change. Could Muschamp or Smart do any worse?

Vince Dooley is a crook who kept his athletes dumb and liked it that way. He should forever be ashamed of his mistakes which Jan Kemp helped expose. Sadly, his legacy will live on as long as his hand-selected people and the Uggah Foundation is staffed by his lackeys.

Honestly, the past few years we just haven’t put the best product on the field. We got lucky with Moreno, cause he caused defenses to have to stack 8 into the box, and stafford just chunked it. Then we had Cox last year, and it was back to having to run routes correctly, and except for AJ there really was no room for error.
I think with the addition of Todd it has snapped us back into it. He will spread into the defense, and the offense, because the Offense will see how hard they are working, and know this is coming from an NFL coach. It might be good to listen up. The other coaches might learn a few things about leadership as well. I think after the first few days, with the hard hits, and the great running game, the fans will get back behind it, and we are hard to beat when we are all there.

It's a shame what he did to that dog.

Derek Dooley ended his vacation, much as Michael F. Adam$ did last weekend, and returned home to ObKnoxiousville last night to deal with the OPEN BAR for all Tennessee vols’ football players, and the 2 patrons the 7 vols’ football players beat up.

Darren Myles Jr. recently arrested a couple of months ago, has been KICKED OFF THE VOLS’ FOOTBALL team by Derek Dooley, exactly as I said Derek Dooley would do, following his second arrest in the span of 2 and a half months.

“I am disappointed and embarrassed in many ways in the lapses of judgment by several members of our football team last night,” said Dooley.

“It’s a privilege not a right to be a member of this football team.”

He just doesn’t fit in up there with the Hillbillies and they all better figure that out, right fast.

Defensive tackle Marlon Walls and linebacker Greg King have both been indefinitely suspended.

Eric Berry, son of former vols’ player – not recruit stolen from the state of Georgia – departed.

In steps Darren Myles, Jr. to take Eric Berry’s defensive back position this up-coming season as a promising sophomore.

3 months ago, April 20 then, Darren Myles, Jr. was arrested for public intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after a disturbance at a Knoxville restaurant and nightclub. Knoxville police say Myles was arrested Sunday about 2:30 a.m. after bouncers removed him from the restaurant. Police say the sophomore then created a disturbance in the parking lot and fought with officers as they attempted to take him into custody. They say he smelled of alcohol and was unsteady on his feet.

Now, this on top of that.

6 feet 1 and a half with blazing 4.39 speed in the 40-yard dash, Darren Myles, Jr. was rated Top 10 at his Safety Position in the nation.

Under Armour All-America.

SuperPrep All-America.

Darren Myles, Sr. is the Football High School coach at Carver High School here in Atlanta, not reported by the AJ-C.

Sent his little boy to ObKnoxiousville and watched in horror as Derek Dooley leveled the axe in front of the little boy’s mother, as well, crying.

3.2GPA.

Bench 260, Squat 550, vertical jump 36, this is one of the premier athletes and students in America.

Really a shame.

THUG.

Georgia did NOT recruit Darren Myles, Jr. – no scholarship offer.

Alabama, Florida, LSU, and Georgia tek offered Darren Myles, Jr. a scholarship.

I would like to get back to this OPEN BAR, VIP status, all vols’ football players invited to the bar with COVER CHARGE WAIVED for all vols’ football players.

Tennessee freshman Da’Rick Rogers and sophomore safety Darren Myles, Jr. have both been released on bond after being arrested overnight as a part of a fight at the Bar Knoxville night club on Cumberland Ave.

How RICH is that ?

Da’Rick Rogers.

Let’s see; ran his mouth about commitment to UGA.

Ran his mouth on Signing Day that he would play, instead, in ObKnoxiousville. It was the difference in UGA having a good Offensive Recruiting Class including the Wide Receiver seen as the replacement after this season for AJ Green and seen as the dual-threat this year, with him.

12-2

July 10th, 2010

It also elevated the vols’ recruiting class better than UGA’s with Da’Rick Rogers signing with Derek Dooley. The Top Rated Derek Dooley Signee.

Rivals Ranked Derek Dooley’s Recruiting # 9 in the nation, UGA # 15.

Scout.com Ranked Derek Dooley’s Recruiting # 16, UGA # 21.

The Big Problem with UGA’s Recruiting this 2010 Signing Date of Da’Rick Rogers, according to the AJ-C was that we WHIFFED on Da’Rick Rogers, a big area of need for UGA.

We also whiffed on the top running backs in this state.

And, every other Offensive Position, while we RACKED UP on Defense with new DC Todd Grantham.

But, on Offense, we got nothing.

5-Star Recruit Da’Rick Rogers with his too even more blazing 4.34 speed in the 40-yard dash, is 6’ 3” and 206 lbs. out of Calhoun.

Calhoun High School.

41 inch vertical leap, he is a freak.

Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Ole Miss, and of course UGA gave him Scholarship Offers along with the rest of the known world.

Tony Ball, the great former Running Back, we have coaching Wide Receivers whiffed on Signing him, the AJ-C reported.

# 1 Overall Football Recruit in the State of Georgia this 2010 season, Da’Rick Rogers (much like Caleb King was a few years’ earlier and since a total bust.)

Ranked the # 2 Wide Receiver in the United States of America.

4.34 speed.

6 of the 7 vols’ players involved in the barroom brawl were detained this time yesterday by Knoxville’s finest.

Cumberland Boulevard Strip.

2 Arrested.

Da’Rick Rogers.

He only visited 2 colleges, ObKnoxiousville and Athens Georgia.

So.

Darren Myles, Jr. had made 80 tackles 15 pass break-ups, 2 fumble recoveries, an Interception, scored 5 touchdowns, and 5 sacks as a Senior in 2008 playing for his Dad at

Carver High School.

July 10th, 2010

Rogers was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Myles was charged with evading arrest, resisting arrest and simple assault.

According to UTPD reports, Myles fled on foot southbound on Lake Ave. After a foot chase Myles, according to the police report, struck officer Brian Greenlee with his elbow under Greenlee’s left eye.

Myles then fled and was found hiding under a white BMW. When instructed to come out from under the car, Myles fled again. Myles ran through the breezeway of Greve Hall. He was later located in bushes next to Henson Hall and was taken into custody.

The investigation continues into the fight that left an off-duty officer unconscious and a patron inside the bar unconscious.

The vols just got a lot worse.

Those detained include defensive tackle John Brown, freshman wide receiver Matt Milton and receiver Denarius Moore.
