In celebration of Jarvis Jones deciding that playing linebacker under Todd Grantham is the best way to prepare for an NFL career, here are five more reasons it’s great … to be … a Georgia Bulldog, presented in no particular order …
You get to go to school in Athens. I mean, really, is there any better college town than the Classic City? As Southern Living recently noted, there’s a vibrancy there that many other college towns can’t match. Great places to eat or drink beer. A beautiful campus. The best-looking women in the SEC. An internationally renowned music scene. Plus UGA sports. What’s not to love?
One of the most impassioned fan bases in college sports. As Mark Richt put it in an interview with Dawg Post, “There is so much passion and love for Georgia. Some of the folks have never stepped foot on campus and love it — that is their team; they want them to do well.”
You get to wear red. Not orange. Not yellow. Not blue like half the schools in the country. And not some off shade like Alabama or Arkansas wear, but rich, bright Georgia Bulldog red! Gotta love it.
The best-looking helmets in college football. And here’s a plus: As a UGA player in the future, chances are you won’t have to don the ill-fated black helmets trotted out for the Florida game last year and widely panned by the Bulldog Nation. They’re selling them off as collector’s items.
Saturdays at Sanford Stadium, the crown jewel of college football stadiums, with Uga, the best mascot in America.
That’s just scratching the surface, of course. Why else is it great to be a Georgia Bulldog?

USC’s loss is the Dawgs gain!! I wish Jarvis well at UGA, and I think a years rest of that neck will do wonders for him! A Linebacker with a bad neck ain’t gonna happen! Good luck Dawgs!!

There’s obviously something wrong with this kid performance-wise if Lane had to chase him off. Probably just not good enough to cut it at USC. Lane strikes me as the kind of guy who would find a way to play him regardless of the injury if it could help them.
Probably a waste of a roster spot.

Stealing something is when you take it without asking, dooley asked green bay for that logo and they were more than happy to let us have rights to it. Green bay might of had it first but atleast Georgia is thought about first when you see that logo. Also i think there are some other teams out there that have done it as well…cough cough..Alabama-Atlanta braves

Reasons why it’s great to be a Florida Gator….
1. You get to let your hair grow out into a mullet so that you can be accepted into a Fraternity
2. Get to wear jean shorts every day of the week.
3. The best player in school history cried on national TV because he is a sore loser.
4. Never had an undefeated season.
5. College football was invented in 1990.

Dancing to R.E.M. on Herty Field in front of the Law School with a beaufitul German law student with the bell ringing, and the early Fall late sunlight throwing a guilded, golden sheen over the festivities. Captured by the moment,the German law student leaned in. This Fall, I hope to recapture that moment on its 20th anniversary.

Thanks, Burdell for your classy comments. Agreed totally with you. No matter where your heart lies- Tech, UGA, wherever….Athens is a great college town. There are other places, but Athens is one of the best. And UGA-Ga Tech is always an electric atmosphere, whether it be played in Athens or Grant Field. No matter how good or bad both teams are, nothing like that game. Best of luck to the Jackets this year, but GO DAWGS!

Welcome to UGA. Where we ripped off one of our fight songs from the Union troops during the civil war but still try to maintain a good-old boy image (rednecks are too stupid to research anything).
Also we ripped off our mascot (which we can’t even keep alive because they are such horribly inbred genetic freaks).
Also, seen that “G” logo somewhere before? Yeah, we yanked that from Green Bay.

Michael Adams being in bed with the liquor distributor Don Leebern results in thousands of underage kids being put at risk for alcohol abuse. Have they no shame up there? It’s about protecting the kids, not putting them at risk so Adams and Leebern can make a buck. No person with ties to the liquor industry should be allowed to serve on the State Board of Regents, much less as Chairman. It’s an incredible conflict of interest. Adams, Leebern, Sonny Perdue and the rest should be ashamed. Athens and Uga are a dangerous combination.

Funny how so many Dawg haters sure are interested in what we are saying, doing, and posting about from the Bulldawg nation and feel compelled to comment. Makes me wonder why they care so much if they’re so sure they’re going to kick our ass, as the claim, this year. We say “bring it”.

I would not brag about running this state with the way it is now. How history would change if UGA had keep their first names of wildcats or goats. GSU still has the most NC of anyone in the state!

UGA is a great school in a super college town… pretty girls.. fine education.. we need doctors, lawyers, teachers, business leaders… Engineers can go to Tech… new coaches.. reinvigorated recruiting…great things going on in Athens !! jealous folks from Fla. and Tech.. don’t you have better things to do ????

A great thing about being a Bulldog: We spend all year (not just the season itself) with our focus on our beloved UGA. Judging by some of the comments here, so do many of our rivals. Most of these folks spend more time worrying about UGA than their own school.

We boo our players and coaches. Love to scream “Fire HIM!” or “Fire THEM”! Leave at halftime (see Bama game). Have a constant obsession with 1980 and Herschel Walker. Try different “gimmicks” when we have no hope of winning—helmets, jerseys. Pretend to be with the big boys of the SEC….blah blah….

And not a bad college band either! Actually, many years ago, Georgetown had to change their Bulldog logo since they stole it from UGA.
Some of the Big Ten schools have some good bands also, but no women…no majorettes, no flag line…no women.

Get all the great recruits you can, but until you get a coach who knows what to do with them you’re wasting your time. This kid is smart to get out of USC, and UGA is a great stepping stone to the NFL, but I hope he doesn’t have high expectations for his college career because CMR takes excellent talent and coaches it to mediocrity.

Two reasons:
1) You can live in Big 10 country and still have people tell you how much they love the Bulldogs.
2) You don’t have to associate with white trash, jean short-wearing Gator fans.
