If he were laid up, I might cut his grass if he let me ride his mower. I bet he’s got some nice power tools. Arrrr!

Grantham’s 3-4 will have two definite effects. Garcia is not the brightest bulb and will be confused. It will give the dawgs experience playing against Saban’s scheme. Great hire, Richt!

Anyone one else worried about Arkansas besides me? I also agree with some earlier post about possibly winning 10 or 6 games.

You can’t spell NASCUGAR without UGA.

That was cheap grab for a laugh, stupid, and crass, and I apologize. I’ll go back to my role as impartial information provider.

I bet Jeff Schultz would have liked it, though.

>>>>>>>>How does UGA get to a +20 scoring margin?

1- Bobo needs to have the offense average 33 points a game
2- Grantham needs to have the defense hold average down to 19 pts a game
3- Special teams average 6 MORE points a game on kickoff returns/punt returns/field goals than LAST season
4- Grantham needs 6 MORE fumbles/interceptions returned for touchdowns than last season
5- Special teams needs to BLOCK 4 MORE field goals/punts than last season
6- Bobo needs 6 MORE touchdowns in the red zone than last year
7- Grantham needs to have 6 MORE goal line stands in the red zone than last year
8- QB’s needs to limit int’s to 5 per season as a unit
9- RB’s need to limit fumbles to 3 per year as a unit
10-Defense needs to force 2 takeaways per game
11-10 more rushing TD’s than last year

Simplified, that’s score as many points as you can, stop the other team from scoring, don’t fumble, don’t throw interceptions, and smack the heck out of the opponents’ running backs and receivers.

That’s the Philip Crosby “Zero Defects” method of quality management. The other metrics will be favorable.

Congratulations to Teresa Edwards for her nomination into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame. For you UGA grads who are to young to know, or so wrapped up in football to care, Teresa Edwards is the most honored UGA athlete in the history of UGA athletics.

Teresa Edwards is the first and only basketball player — male or female — to have competed in five Olympics (1984, 1988, 1992, 1996 and 2000), in which she came away with the gold medal every time except in 1992 (Barcelona). In total, she competed for the United States 19 times in international competition. Her teams won 14 gold medals. Teresa Edwards is the most decorated Olympic basketball player — again, male or female — in the world.

Not bad for a girl from Cairo.

Improvement in each game is what is needed and if that happens UGA will have a good season. It all depends on the O line for the first half of the season and then the D should be able to play with everyone.

Hope not …… & really hope we take care of SC. Otherwise , it could get ugly much too early in the season. Still optomistic that we start out 5 – 0 ; 6 – 0 & riding the wave into JAX …..

I ask the question will the Dawgs get the bulk of all the huge talent in the state this year in the recruting battle? Guys like Rome, Dantzler, Crowell, Dickinson, Drew, Vaughters, Swann, etc. etc. Could UGA have a dream team and win a NC in a couple of years?

swampratdog, the quick and dirty is, UGA had Da’Rick Rogers “wrapped up.” UT came in (not certain but believe it was Coach Jim Chaney) and discovered that Rogers was best friends with his HS QB Nash Nance. Suddenly in January 2010, Nance is a hot commodity to UT and gets an offer…..go figure!

Bottom line, very late in the game, UT put on a full court press for Nance. I read a quote where Nance stated, Dooley gave him compliments telling him he could be a top QB in the SEC, etc.

There were rumors that Nance’s dad promised Da’Rick, if he attended UT, a car and cell phone so he could talk to and visit his mom, etc.. Even if that is true it will never be proven. Regardless, Richt was HOT, personally initiated an inquiry by the NCAA….. He even mentioned it during NSD.

Forget reporting to the NCAA, possible violations, etc., Richt needs to remember this incident each and every time we play UT from this point forward. He should also continuously remember LK’s promise to NEVER lose to Georgia again.

I noticed Steele had 4 UNC players on his 1st (3!) and 2d (1) team All-American listing. Has Steele lost his mind, or does UNC really have equal or better players than UNC? If he is right, then UNC is going to stun a lot of SEC’rs, because they give UNC no credit.

$750K for a football coach when teachers are being laid off all over the state. Wonder how many teachers we could hire for the price on the UGA coaching staff?

Georgia schools always have money for football coaches, but never any money for things that a school is supposed to do like teach students.

Oh, I forgot that education is the enemy of republicans. If we cared as much about education as about football, wonder what our state might be like.

Woof, Woof, suckers.

NEWS ALERT!!!
Sports anchor Stretch O’Leary: Al Groh, Defensive Coordinator of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team was found last night in Ames, Iowa, wandering aimlessly around a Walmart parking lot. Reports indicate that Coach Groh was supposed to be on a weekend recruiting trip to North Carolina. Coach Groh was flown home and is currently under observation at the Grady Memorial Hospital Psychiatric Unit. We now take you to the scene with our intrepid correspondent…Buzz Nutman.

Buzz Nutman: Thanks Stretch, we’re here with the Head Nurse of the Grady Memorial Hospital Psychiatric Unit…Nurse Ratchit. Nurse Ratchit could you tell us anything about Coach Groh’s condition?

Nurse Ratchit: Because of privacy issues I can only tell you that Mr. Groh is indeed a patient and is currently undergoing psychiatric evaluation. By the way Mr. Nutman, would you happen to know who Bill Parcells is?

Buzz Nutman: That would be his former boss.

Nurse Ratchit: Here then. Could you see that he get’s this. (Hands Buzz a sack). He insists he has to deliver these or “they’ll be hell to pay”.

Buzz looks into the sack to discover a half dozen doughnuts and a bag of Dunk’n Donuts coffee.
Just then Coach Groh run’s screaming down the hall dressed only in an untied hospital gown followed closely by Assistant Head Nurse Diesel.

Coach Groh: (Screaming as he runs) He called me Gramps and laughed at me when I showed him my Super Bowl ring!!!

Nurse Ratchit: Mr. Groh did threaten to punch him in the face.

Buzz Nutman: That could explain why he’s having a hard time recruiting. A sad day indeed for the Yellow Jacket nation. There you have it Stretch. Buzz Nutman…Signing off.

Buldawg,

DJ Shockley is no longer with the Falcons. He was beaten out last year for the 3rd team qb spot on the roster by JP Wilson formerly of Bama and aka sarah jessica parker wilson to Bama fans.

Also Christian Lemay does not have “world class” speed. That’s the nuttiest thing I’ve ever heard said about a recruit. The overhype on this kid has reached epic proportions when people say he has world class speed. He’s a high school qb and could just as easily end up being like a lot of formerly high touted high school qbs like Ron Powlus, DJ Shockley, Jordan Jefferson, Russell Shepard Star Jackson at Bama. The Jackson kid is an interesting story cause he was a former super 11 qb recruit who is transferring because its obvious he will never be the starter there.

So the dawgs go undefeated including beating Florida which has blown out the dawgs 41-17 and 49-10 the last 2 meetings and whose coach is 4-1 against Richt? And then beat Bama 31-27 in the seccg. Mmmmh. So the Georgia offense behind a freshman qb is going to rack up 30+ points on Bama? And while doing this they’re going to hold the Bama offense under 30 when Florida and Texas couldn’t do it. And they are gonna do this in the first year of a new 3-4 defense with 6 new starters. Mmmmh. I’ll have some of that koolaid please.

Now that we’re officially in the off-season, wouldn’t this be the perfect time to take an in-depth look at UGA and have a free-ranging discussion about the problems at UGA and why the arrest rate of players is the highest in the country? it’s common knowledge that UGA is a party school, but have any football players every actually graduated with a real degree? Jan Kemp exposed the school and the coaches almost three decades ago, but there is no sign that anything has improved; if anything, the arrest rate shows that things are getting more outrageous every year while Mark Richt – a decent fellow with no coaching skills – has no clue what to do.

UGA has become a major embarrassment to all Georgians, and we want some answers starting now.

Why do so many of the UGA fans conveniently forget about the incredible sweep of the three baseball contests this year? Now that’s a beatdown of epic proportions!

I guess because it’s so humiliating.

JAXDAWG

Probably because we care more about professional baseball instead of college baseball. UGA fans only care about football against Tech because that’s all that matters to us. We don’t come on here talking about how we are National Champions at golf and gymnastics and a top-5 tennis program every year or even Equestrian National Champs. We don’t do that because we don’t have this inherent urge to live up to something that Tech is not. Get a life Tech fans.

“Get a life Tech fans.”

You Dawg fans who keep repeating “30-24″ like a mantra enjoy yourselves all you want. The thing is… Tech alumni and fans have lives that don’t depend entirely on what a bunch of kids does on Saturday afternoons. College sports are fun to follow, but the biggest reason for going to college is to get an education.

UGA fans don’t seem to care about anything but football, and they don’t care if their players are enrolled in silly majors that no parents who are paying the bills would send their kids to UGA for. The very few football and basketball players who graduate have no job opportunities and end up unemployed or working in menial jobs that hardly require a college degree.

Georgia Tech is a real school with serious academic standards, and that includes scholarshipped athletes. UGA has a long history of being a party school, where parents send their kids for an easy degree, even if the degree itself is practically worthless.

Jan Kemp exposed the crap going on at UGA with athletes being enrolled in courses a ten-year-old kid could pass. That was almost three decades ago, and nothing has changed. If anything, the abuses are more blatant today. Way too many illiterate morons are being recruited, and the very high arrest rate shows clearly that Richt does not care if his players have any morals or self-discipline.

The bottom line is that most Tech fans have very good jobs and productive lives that don’t depend on Tech’s football record for their happiness in life. It would be great to beat UGA more often, but when you put scholar-athletes up against dummy-athletes, it’s usually no contest.

It’s pretty pathetic to see UGA fans who typically have never been within miles of a college classroom and who live or die with UGA’s weekly results on the football field.

So keep on posting your “30-24″ all you want, especially since you’re home with plenty of time on your hands. I wish you well, maybe you’ll get lucky and get your old job back at the Waffle House before your unemployment checks stop coming.

UGA vs. FLA rushing

2009: Dawgs 121 Gators 210: Gators win 41-17
2008: Dawgs 106 Gators 185: Gators win 49-10
2007: Dawgs 196 Gators 107: DAWGS WIN 42-30
2006: Dawgs 64 Gators 154: Gators win 21-14
2005: Dawgs 171 Gators 153: Gators win 14-10* DJ Shockley hurt*

Rushing ball might not be the only answer, but when the Dawgs have success in most of their games it’s because they are able to establish the run. Look at the Auburn game this past year. The Dawgs got down 14-0 in the 1st quarter and instead of panicking and ditching the run, they stayed patient with it and eventually they won the game. Running the ball might not be the only answer, not turning the ball over is definitely a huge part of the equation as well. But the Dawgs have had tons of turnovers in the passing game the last few seasons vs. Florida, hence the lopsided scores. I say run the ball on 1st down, and mix the run with play action passing on 2nd and 3rd. It’s a good place to start.

$750K, this has been explained before. The Athletic Dept. is it’s own entity and pays it’s own way, totally separate, financially and otherwise, from the education side of the university. Last year, Georgia’s Athletic Dept. budget showed income over $84M and expenses close to $69M.

Football in particular, at UGA , like most schools, pays for itself totally as well as funding other sports that wouldn’t survive otherwise.

As for football season, Georgia should be better than last season just based on schedule. I know they won’t put too much pressure on Aaron Murray early but there will come a time when he will have to win a game for Georgia. Hopefully he will be ready and stay healthy. Hopefully the run game will produce like at the end of last season and the defense should be improved just by staying off the field more.

Bogus stat of what your won / loss record is in The Coach Richt Era against Top 10 Final AP Poll teams at just 3 wins out of 11 games (3-8.) ?

First, let me address the other half of that point of mine meansonny :

I said that Coach Richt in the entire Coach Richt Era has won only 3 games against Final AP Poll Top 10 teams and lost 8, removing us from consideration to then beat in a big bowl game on the National Stage a Top 10 Final AP Poll team AND that he has LOST 8 MORE GAMES to teams NOT RANKED in the Final AP Poll Top 25 even.

I see you are trying to IGNORE meansonny that Coach Richt has lost 8 games to teams NOT RANKED in the Top 25 Final AP Poll.

As for Alabama, last season for example :

BEAT # 2 Final AP Poll Texas 2009
BEAT # 3 Final AP Poll Florida 2009
BEAT # 10 Final AP Poll Virginia Tech 2009

That is 3-0 just LAST YEAR meansonny, more wins over Final AP Poll Top 10 teams. In just this one 2008 season last year Alabama beat three (3) Top 10 teams in the Final AP Poll Top 10, while Coach Richt has beat 3 in all his years here, now Year 10 this up-coming season, while LOSING 8 instead. Quit making excuses for Coach Richt’s failures vs Top 10 Final AP Poll teams meansonny.

Let’s look at Florida, also an SEC team beating us, the year before last :

BEAT # 5 Final AP Poll Oklahoma 2008.
BEAT # 6 Final AP Poll Alabama 2008.
BEAT # 13 Final AP Poll Georgia 2008.

That is 3 MORE Top 10 Final Poll teams yet another SEC team beat. Two (2) are Top 10 Final AP Poll wins by Florida the year before last (And, to listen to UGA fans citing the USA Today Coaches’ Poll Top 10 Finish by UGA in 2008, that is again 3 Top 10 Final Poll teams Florida beat in 2008 – as many once again like Alabama last year that Florida beat the year before, as Coach Richt has beat in all his entire career here now starting year 10 with but 3 wins over Top 10 Final AP Poll teams and 8 losses for entire Coach Richt Era.)

I thought this was bogus meansonny ?

I thought this never happens meansonny ?

BOTH of the last 2 years, for example, SEC teams OTHER THAN UGA have BOTH won as many games against Top 10 Final Poll teams as Coach Richt has in his ENTIRE CAREER here now starting year 10. And, both of them went UNDEFEATED at 3-0 in just 1 year while in now his Year 10 here at UGA, Coach Richt is 3-8 vs Top 10 Final AP Poll teams.

By the way, Won / Loss record is NOT A STAT, it is our WON / LOSS RECORD against non Top 25 Final AP Poll teams of which Coach Richt already has 8 such losses and 8 more losses to Top 10 Final AP Poll teams of whom he has beat but 3.

We don’t beat the good teams and we don’t beat the really bad teams either.

Since when is whether you won or lost the game, a stat ?

We ALSO are 10-10 won / loss over the last 4 years against just SEC East teams, and 5 of those are against SEC East teams NOT RANKED in the Top 25 Final AP Poll. By your theory they should be ranked because they BEAT US. And, not ranked because we beat them. Yet, once again, it is COMPLETELY the opposite.

So what we have is

2009 Alabama went 3-0 vs Top 10 Final Poll teams.
2008 Florida went 3-0 vs Top 10 Final Poll teams

Coach Richt has 3 games (as many as either Alabama just last year or as many as Florida just the year before last alone) vs Top 10 Final Poll teams in his entire career lost 8.

NOT BOGUS. Good try meansonny.
