The Dawgs have three games next year: USC, UT, and UF in that order.

Don’t overlook Arkansas, and Miss. State is tough to beat in Starksville(ask Urban Meyer)
Sorry to say, but the dawgs could easily have 2-3 SEC losses prior to the Florida game,
and we all know they will lose that one.

Chazzo, I’m with you on 2 out of 3. The “toughest” games I would say, are SC, UF, and Auburn. SC for a variety of reasons, not the least of all is it’s our first real game. UF of course. Auburn…Chizik probably has 2 games on his schedule as possible signature wins for him. Alabama and Georgia. Georgia, because we’ve won 4 in a row, and we will be playing something like 10 weeks in a row without a bye. This one will be brutal.

UT, I think CMR will look to have DD pay for (1) Kiffin’s mouth, and (2) DD’s own role in the Nance/Rogers recruiting trickery. If we’re up by 30, don’t expect CMR to call off the Dawgs this year.

Sure let’s talk…….

Let’s talk about the ABSOLUTE state of panic that Tech is in right now. They are sitting back and watching all the great things that are taking shape in Athens. And the Nerds can do NOTHING about it :)

I GUARANTEE that after this coming football season, the Nerds will be screaming for Paul “manboobs” Johnson’s head. They are about to see what HIS recruits can do with that HS Offense. And it is NOT going to be pretty!!

Sure, Tech can sit with their heads high when Favors goes in the top 5 in the NBA draft, and they wil undoubtedly run their mouths about how many UGA players were drafted….but then reality will set in for them. Our NBA talent decided to stay in Athens for another season, consequently attracting Mr. Georgia Basketball, among others, to join the happenings. Tech will still have Hewitt, and a NOBODY team who wil get waxed by a rebuilding UNC and every other ACC school next year. I am glad UGA plays basketball at Tech next year so we can see the tears from the Nerds ourselves.

Baseball….. who the hell in the state of Georgia cares about baseball outside of Turner Field…..

I figure since Tech is so obsessed with hating us, I can make a single post dedicated to the fact that I hate them more than they could ever scream their little “THWG” chant. Karma is a b**** Techies… and it’s biting you now.

Sorry Techies…. but WE. RUN. THIS. STATE.

I think that we don’t have a clue what will happen this Fall. We could win 10. We could win 6. Who knows. I feel good about it, but I have felt good going into some really disappointing seasons.

Bulldog59

Frank you are ABSOLUTELY correct, could be 10 could be 6. But, for the first time in years, the Bulldog Nation, myself included, is optimistic, believing we are at least “in” every game.

The optimism is showing in our recruiting efforts. Keep the faith!

What a difference a year makes. Look at UT. There is so little backing for Dooley, the Athletic Dept. is now selling “mini-packages” of tickets. One mini-package includes the UT-Florida game!

Was checking out a couple other posters’ “highlight play of 2009″ (mine was Samuel’s 80 yards against AR, someone else said B Smith’s end-around vs SC, also Caleb’s long TD agaist GT) and man, that youtube video “2009 Georgia vs GT Highlights” got me too exited way to early for this coming season. Ealey and King behind a good O line should be fun. Didn’t realize some GT players wanted to pick a fight on the last play.

Sounds like Tech might have a fine offense again this year. But it will it be enough to deal with UNC’s defense in Chapel Hill. Just saw where Phil Steele had 4 UNC players on his All-America Team. Three were 1st-teamers, and one was a 2d-teamer. How do you explain what Butch has put together on defense at UNC?

So, St. Simons, thanks for the respect. You now refer to us like the folks at Ohio State refer to themselves? Thuga, short for THE University of Georgia? Damn nice of you to show the respect.

The dawgs are putting together a top five class right now maybe end up in the top 3. We need to get Vaughters and Dickson do not let them go to Bama it may be to late on Dickson.

Bulldog59 –

Auburn beating Georgia will most certainly NOT be a “signature win” for the Tigers. Auburn will be FAVORED and SHOULD win that game.

Speaking of recruiting news…

Some pretty reliable sources seem to think that we have a VERY good chance to land Mr. Charone Peake from South Carolina. Probably won’t know for sure until after this seasons high school ball is over with.

LeMay’s commitment apparently carries some serious weight with more than a few recruits out there. That will give us three 4-star (Conley and Peake may be 5’s by the time it’s all said and done) WR’s and another ATH who can play both ways. That should close out this particular need on the roster.

If CMR and staff don’t offer any more receivers then that sources validity could prove true.

And Vaughters is seriosly considering us now, so don’t assume he is an automatic get for UF or Bama.

OL, DL, DB, and LB will be the focus for from here on. Maybe one RB.

That would definitely put us in the top three at least.

Does anyone know if there are any plans in the works (and if so, when, and by how much) to enlarge the seating capacity in the stadium? I thought I had heard or read that there may be a plan to enlarge it some, but still not close off the bridge opening.

George C-

Auburn will be favored?

Really?

How many times has AU been FAVORED over us and lost?

Favored? Please.

SHOULD win?…hmmm…let’s see…Why should they?

Sorry, but I just can’t think of a reason why we can’t beat you this year just like the previous four.

Because you’re at home? That means nothing to us.

Because you have Cam “Get rid of the evidence!” Newton at QB?

This ain’t St.Matthew’s School for Wayward Boys he’ll be lining up against.

This is UGA!

Not this season, Aubie! You better be worrying about your western division foes. Your coaches job depends on it.

George G., my Auburn buddies tell me, losing to Alabama tops the list of course, and Georgia is definitely second. Auburn is feeling 4 years of that. Trust me, it’s a signature win, and Chizik would most certainly use that in recruiting players from the state of Georgias.

Agree or disagree, we both know it will be a heck of a game again this year!

Defense better?

May 20th, 2010
3:33 pm

I know everyone is excited about the new 3-4 defense. But, with Mr. Everything Rennie Curran, Jeff Owens, and Geno Atkins gone, do we have the guys that can stop the run?

Defense better?

May 20th, 2010
3:39 pm

I’m afraid we are going to take a step back on defense seeing as how Rennie Curran made all the outside tackles, and Owens and Atkins were able to negate the middle running game. Hopefully, others will step in and step up. Is Samuels going to redshirt this year? The last I heard, Richt hadn’t made up his mind yet and would see if he was in the top two or three first.

Defense better?

May 20th, 2010
3:44 pm

Are there any JUCO transfers coming in this year on defense? I know we have gotten guys from Georgia Military College before to plug immediate needs. I’m just trying to figure out how everyone sees us being so much better on defense simply by a change in philosophy/coordinator.

Bulldog59

May 20th, 2010
3:49 pm

Defense better? Good questions. Curran, Owens, Atkins and Weston will all be missed and hard to replace.

The hope/belief is, (1) the 3-4 will be picked up quickly by the new players, and (2)the knowledge and coaching ability of the 3 new assistant coaches will show greatly on the field providing more “looks” on D as well as much more pressure into the backfield.

No decision yet on Richard Samuel.

Bulldog59

May 20th, 2010

Also, DB, Jakar Hamilton, comes in from Georgia Military. He is the only JUCO I’m aware of.

Defense better?

Bulldog 59
Oh Yeah! I forgot about him. He’s the one they call “Hitman” right?
Thanks for your answers. Hopefully, there will be a new attitude with the defense this year. Smith and Boykin should be really exciting this year also. They have so much potential, speed, etc… They had some freshman growing pains early on last season but now with some experience, I can see them becoming lock down corners as the season progresses. This could be a season like 2007 where we come on strong the second half of the season. The South Carolina game is so pivotal. With Florida playing LSU, Bama, South Carolina, they could have two losses. Same with South Carolina. So I think the East could be interesting with the winner having possibly two losses.

Dale

May 20th, 2010
4:25 pm

Yep, if LSU and Bama do our heavy lifting, we could lose to Florida and still win the East.

Defense better?

May 20th, 2010
4:30 pm

South Carolina has some freshman running back that is supposed to be the missing ingredient for them. He may be a threat running the ball, but do you think he will be able to pass block enough early in the season to worry us a lot? I know it is hard for most guys to come in and pass block well enough to play a lot of downs. (At least that is the case at Georgia it seems)

Another Shockley?

May 20th, 2010
4:52 pm

Does anyone know how tall DJ Shockley is? I’m just curious about the comparison of Shockley to Murray. A mobile qb. Obviously Murray doesn’t have Stafford’s arm, but maybe he could be comparable to Shockley? Like a lot of others, I cringed at his performance in the G-Day game, between struggling to find receivers, to looking like he was having to put a lot of effort to get any zip on the ball. But, I know he is a highly touted qb, and Tony Barnhart says he is all that. So, maybe there is more to him than I’m realizing.
