Which September game looks toughest for the Dogs?

Although most Georgia fans are viewing the 2010 schedule as less daunting than last year’s, September still could be a tough month for Mark Richt’s Dogs.

After a cupcake opener against Louiana-Lafayette, Georgia plunges right into the SEC battle by traveling to Columbia to meet the Gamecocks. Many are viewing this as a now-or-never season for Steve Spurrier at South Carolina, which makes an always tough game even more interesting.

Then this year’s most hyped conference team and quarterback, Arkansas and Ryan Mallett, come to Athens. Another early test for Todd Grantham’s new 3-4 scheme, and if it turns into another shootout, can Aaron Murray keep up with Mallett like Joe Cox did last year?

The next week the Dogs are back on the road at Mississippi State, never a particularly fun trip for Georgia.

Chris Low of ESPN.com has pegged the Dogs as having the second toughest September schedule in the SEC, noting that they’re the only team in the league that has to play two away games against conference foes in the opening month.

I don’t think anyone in red and black is really too concerned about Dan Mullen’s Maroon Bulldogs, though if Georgia enters that game undefeated, it could turn into one of those “trap” games. The other two conference opponents definitely look challenging. South Carolina’s nearly always a close game for the Dogs, and while there are still big questions about the Razorbacks’ defense, their offense will provide a test for Georgia’s young secondary.

Color me crazy, but SC doesn’t scare me as much as they have in the past. I think the ole ball coach has got into the mind of Garcia. I think the kid is toast. We might even see the frosh from Flowery Branch, Connor Shaw as the starting QB by then, and that would put a totally different perspective on that game.

Now the Arky game scares me. Say what you will about Petrino, but the guy’s an offensive mastermind(minus his one near season in the league). Plus I think the Dogs will overlook them coming off a huge win at SC. Could be a trap game.

I hate summer,I don’t like that sorry ol Petrino for the way he did the Falcons.
Nothing against the hogs in general but I hope they go 5-7 and he gets his ass fired, along with a good thrashing by the Dawgs for a little measure of payback.

…or they could continue struggling against mid-level teams and getting blown out of the stadium by the better SEC teams.

Anyone seen Patrick this morning? The last time I saw him was last night, he was rambling on incoherantly to some prostitute about how much better Richt was than Myer or Saban. She was laughing uncontrolably. Gotta go! Here he comes a/ a jar of vasonline. Somebody help me!

I think the Dawgs need to come into every game with the mentality that if they do not show up mentally ready to play they will lose. The Dawgs have some talent, but they are not talented enough to bring their C game and expect to win games in the SEC. So with that in mind, they need to go into all 3 of these games( USC, Arkansas, and MSU) with the belief that if they don’t play well they could lose 1 or all 3 of those games. Because I can promise you, those 3 teams might think that we’ll be a tough out but they still think they can beat us. UGA has to prepare for every team’s best shot and they need to be prepared in return to match the other teams intensity. They do that, and they are capable us beating all 3 of these teams. But if they don’t? Well…..let’s just say there will be a LOT of heads rolling after this season.

2-0 and Mississippi State will be a trap game, that is hilarous, Georgia will be 1-2 by that point and probably lose against Mississippi State, the dawgs are over buddy, stop living in the past, and even that produced zero national championships!
