Will Georgia's revamped defense have more success against Ryan Mallett this year? (Associated Press)
Although most Georgia fans are viewing the 2010 schedule as less daunting than last year’s, September still could be a tough month for Mark Richt’s Dogs.
After a cupcake opener against Louiana-Lafayette, Georgia plunges right into the SEC battle by traveling to Columbia to meet the Gamecocks. Many are viewing this as a now-or-never season for Steve Spurrier at South Carolina, which makes an always tough game even more interesting.
Then this year’s most hyped conference team and quarterback, Arkansas and Ryan Mallett, come to Athens. Another early test for Todd Grantham’s new 3-4 scheme, and if it turns into another shootout, can Aaron Murray keep up with Mallett like Joe Cox did last year?
The next week the Dogs are back on the road at Mississippi State, never a particularly fun trip for Georgia.
Chris Low of ESPN.com has pegged the Dogs as having the second toughest September schedule in the SEC, noting that they’re the only team in the league that has to play two away games against conference foes in the opening month.
So which September game worries you the most? Feel free to comment or vote in the poll or do both.

Not that worried about any of the three. Expect a beatdown in Columbia of the ever overly optimistic chickens. Arkansas — “can you say no D”. It won’t be a track meet this year. Just a solid win. Mississippi State… uh, no. The trolls here are Tech nerds seething with rage since their best team in years lost to Georgia’s worst in years.

The ol’ ball coach won’t have the luxury of spending all summer preparing for Willie’s defense. Spells trouble for the chickens.

Again, the mindless dribble of the Tech Trolls on here give me a great laugh. As usual “thank you.” You will always hate the fact that your not the top team in the state of GA. Never will be and it infuriates all of you. So please keep on.
SSIgator – we have some growing this year, I would have to go with the 9-3 record over the 7-5. Gators will lose 2 to 3 this year. The East will be down this year. Still good, but the West has the horses this year.

You’ve been smoking too much kaka. In the highly unlikely event the Dawgs wind back up in Shreveport, if that is the case it would be a damn shame that our only signature win would be in Jax.
Please be sure and comeback here at the end of the season so we can measure your (sic) predictions and resize your jorts

UGADAWGZ – When you get your tails handed to you 8 out of 9 years they will have to find something to fall back on. The small brain of a troll is that they have arrest going on over at Tech as well. It’s just a little more involved than underaged drinking. Go Dawgs!

I think that first game gives Murray time to figure SEC football out, so this SC East game isn’t as close as we are used to. Mallet between the hedges for game three means our 3/4 has had a minute to get it right and I think Petrino/Mallet gets violated. The first test as always comes in Jax.

regardless, it’s going to be fun watching the new d. perform against one of the best offensive minds in college football (petrino,) and then, watch how they stack up against a baby version of the florida spread (miss. state.)

Prediction: USC plays Southern Miss of Thursday, 9 days before the Dawgs and the good/bad news: Southern Miss beats them.
USC will be ticked off when they play us, but, as usual, they will find a way to lose. It’s in their genes. UGA will be the underdog despite USC’s loss, but wins in a cose one, 28-20.
Hell, my guess is as good as anyone’s.

Obviously, whomever comments that UGA will return to Shreveport, does not know their SEC Football. Figure it out….
Dogs toughest one will be in Columbia. Probably be a night game with rabid Gamecock fans blasting our young QB. If we keep the game on the ground with Ealey and King, some short dumps to Charles, and a FEW long ones to AJ we should pull out another nail biter. If we get into a shoot this year, it will not be good for us.
Not worried about the Razorbacks…I think our D will be playing with force by then.

In game #2 at South Carolina how good will Georgia’s defense be? I think Spurrier has seen a few 3-4’s. Spurrier’s starting wideouts go 6′4, 6′5 and 6′4. Can the Gamecocks’ D stack the run effectively?
Can Murray go through the progressions with the coverage? Watch the U-tube film of Murray and look for that.
Will Garcia drive Spurrier nuts? Will it matter? Zac Brindise is a former walkon, RS-FR Andrew Clifford was a 2-star, and Connor Shaw will be a true freshman.

UGA will whip Spurrier again. Garcia will get pulled after the 5th sack and the freshman will end up playing the rest of the year.
The Arkansas game will be tough but we will run the ball all day on them and win by 10.
SSI gaytor, your beloved gaytors will have a worse record than UGA when Jacksonville rolls around. Bama is going to clean your plow big time.
Our game will be a war and the winner will win the east.
Better worry about your coach making it through the year healthy.

SC because it’s first, SC because it’s Spurrier, SC because it in Columbia, SC because of the history of the recent games in the series.
Against the Hogs, this time it’s in Athens… we put up 40+, they score 20ish.
MSU will be closer than people think and closer than Dog fans would like, we wear them down and win by 17.

“cowbells have nothing to do with being a DAWG.”
I beg to differ with you here HanDAWG. The English Bulldog was originally bred for the old sport of bull baiting. the sound of the bell on the bull’s collar helped ignite the dog’s ferocity, and readiness for the fight. If the players on the field were aware of this part of bulldog history, the sound of cow bells coming from the stadium would be a great addition to “letting the DAWGS out” when the team comes out on the field at gametime! I’m sending a link; notice the bell on the bulls collar.

I aint expecting anything extrordinary. I just believe there is something different about this team. We will be tuff on both sides of the line, that is where the game Is won. Mallett wont have the opportunity to stand back there forever and look for a reciever. We can win 10 games with the right playcalling and 11 can happen if Murray just plays smart. He doesnt have to win the game , just dont lose it forcing anything this early in his #1 QB career.

You Dawg fans who keep repeating “30-24″ like a mantra enjoy yourselves all you want. The thing is… Tech alumni and fans have lives that don’t depend entirely on what a bunch of kids does on Saturday afternoons. College sports are fun to follow, but the biggest reason for going to college is to get an education.
UGA fans don’t seem to care about anything but football, and they don’t care if their players are enrolled in silly majors that no parents who are paying the bills would send their kids to UGA for. The very few football and basketball players who graduate have no job opportunities and end up unemployed or working in menial jobs that hardly require a college degree.
Georgia Tech is a real school with serious academic standards, and that includes scholarshipped athletes. UGA has a long history of being a party school, where parents send their kids for an easy degree, even if the degree itself is practically worthless.
Jan Kemp exposed the crap going on at UGA with athletes being enrolled in courses a ten-year-old kid could pass. That was almost three decades ago, and nothing has changed. If anything, the abuses are more blatant today. Way too many illiterate morons are being recruited, and the very high arrest rate shows clearly that Richt does not care if his players have any morals or self-discipline.
The bottom line is that most Tech fans have very good jobs and productive lives that don’t depend on Tech’s football record for their happiness in life. It would be great to beat UGA more often, but when you put scholar-athletes up against dummy-athletes, it’s usually no contest.
It’s pretty pathetic to see UGA fans who typically have never been within miles of a college classroom and who live or die with UGA’s weekly results on the football field.
So keep on posting your “30-24″ all you want, especially since you’re home with plenty of time on your hands. I wish you well, maybe you’ll get lucky and get your old job back at the Waffle House before your unemployment checks stop coming.
