On Mettenberger and way-out bowl predictions

Zach Mettenberger hopes for a second chance somewhere other than UGA. (wsbtv.com)

Zach Mettenberger hopes for a second chance somewhere other than UGA. (wsbtv.com)

Well, one thing we know for sure about Zach Mettenberger: He won’t be transferring to Valdosta State, as some had speculated, since he’s banished from the town that calls itself Winnersville.

Monday’s news that the former UGA quarterback had pleaded guilty to two counts of misdemeanor sexual battery stemming from the spring break bar incident in the Valdosta area frankly came as no big surprise. As I said on the day news of Mettenberger being kicked off the Bulldogs first broke, the fact that Mark Richt had taken such drastic action pointed to more than just underage drinking. And, for once, the most prevalent rumor on the grapevine — which I first heard literally minutes after the news of Mett’s dismissal — pretty much was on the money.

A couple of other thoughts on the Mettenberger situation: He indicated in his statement taking “responsibility” for his actions that he hopes to get “a second chance to compete at another university.” That should put an end to the hopes some fans had that he could return to UGA. But despite being tainted by a transgression of a sexual nature and a very public demonstration of poor judgment, that NFL-caliber arm he has and his showing in Georgia’s spring game probably will mean Mettenberger’s wish will come true. There’s talk (how credible, I don’t know) that Tommy Tuberville is interested in bringing Mettenberger to Texas Tech.

And it’s been gratifying to see that most UGA fans speaking out on the subject accept that Richt kicking Mettenberger off the team was absolutely the right thing to do. I have, however, seen a couple of postings here and there from folks who don’t think there was anything wrong with Mettenberger grabbing a young woman’s breasts and buttocks against her will and who believe it’s ridiculous that he was punished for what they seem to think should be categorized as just being a guy.

Obviously these yahoos don’t have daughters.

RIDICULOUSLY EARLY BOWL PREDICTIONS
Moving on, CollegeFootballNews.com calls its bowl picks for the coming season “ridiculously early,” but really it’s only taking things one more step than all the prognosticators who already are picking Florida in the SEC East and Alabama to repeat as SEC champ. Besides, as CFN says, “it’s always goofy fun to look at the possibilities.”

Notable for UGA fans is that CFN sees the Dogs beating Florida this season and winding up playing Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl in Miami on Jan. 3 as one of the BCS at-large picks,  with the “Florida/Georgia loser” facing Penn State in the Outback Bowl on New Year’s Day. Says CFN of the Dogs: “Georgia has the right schedule and the returning talent to slip through to win the East over a rebuilding Florida. The Orange would snap up the Dawgs getting the first pick of at-large teams (after the Rose).”

CFN sees Alabama as an SEC champion carrying a couple of losses and winding up in the Sugar Bowl against Nebraska, though it notes “this could very, very easily be Florida, Georgia or LSU if Alabama winds up playing for the national title”— which they think would happen only if Bama has just one loss. If, as they expect, the Tide has two losses, CFN predicts Ohio State and TCU meeting in the BCS Championship game.

So … Dogs fans should root for Bama?

I’m sad for Mett, but it may be better not to have a controversy. It seems Mett was looking to cause trouble in that regard to me, but I’m just a fan so maybe I’m wrong about it.

Great point about Mettenberger. There is a fine line between flirting/drunken college shenanigans and sexual assault, but there is a line and he crossed it. Say what you will about Richt’s power of forgiveness, but he knows the difference in severity between typical college kids drinking and this type of reprehensible conduct.

Well the truth finally comes out. We all knew there had to be more to the story then getting drunk (underage) at a bar. People are going to try and lump this with the Ben Roth.. story. They are very different. What Roth alledgedly did was far worse. Either way, I kind of feel for Mett. He threw away a huge opportunity because he fondeled a girl that obviously did not invite it. It’s sad. But it’s not enough that I hope his life is ruined for this. Maybe he will rebound and make something of hisself somewhere. This is a very public, very embarrassing story for him. The odds are very much against poor Zach right now and I feel pitty.

As a girl, I have had plenty of people grab me where they shouldn’t if I am out at a bar. That said, I have to wonder the severity of what he did other than just ‘grabbing boobs and buttocks.’ There is always an a-hole that thinks he can play grab-a** at any establishment but I have never heard of someone pressing charges before so it must have been really over the top. That said, I wish him the best of luck and I hope that he really has learned a valuable lesson from all of this.

Why would anyone be surprised to learn that the Bulldogs are projected to play in a BCS bowl?

The mess with defensive coaches has been fixed. The schedule is much easier. The biggest obstacle on the schedule has a coach that is a basket case and lost boatloads of players to the NFL. The defense returns ten of eleven starters and the offense has boatloads of top ranked redshirts ready to play. The quarterback position has improved from a good quarterback to one of the top ranked recruited quarterbacks in America.

There is absolutely no excuse why UGA cannot be a BCS bowl team this year.

The only thing is that for an SEC team to be in a BSC bowl, you pretty much do need to win the SEC outright. Normally just winning your division is not going to lift you over the other national teams trying to get into just a couple of open BCS spots, and only if the SEC champ is in the NC game.

UGA will make us proud. They have 10 of 11 starters reurning on O including the guys who averaged 215 yards a game rushing over the last 7 games of the year. The defense will be better with a real DC there now and much returning talent there too. Look out for Houston, Rambo, and Tyson to start making plays there. We have the best punter in the nation returning, 1 of the 3 guys up for the Groza award kicking it thru the uprights, and the guy who set a record for TD returns on KO’s in the SEC. We might just make a little noise in the NC contention if we change up our turnover ratio a little.

dawggrl, I heard the touching was a little bit more aggressive and arrived to a region not mentioned in the reports. This is what I heard a long time ago. It may or may not be true, but if so that is even more reason why he needed to go. The punishment is severe and perhaps no one involved feels the need to be as graphic as possible at this point. Maybe if he DIDN’T plead guilty it would have come to that.

If it were my daughter the stated details would be plenty for me to expect his dismissal from the team.

I like UGA’s chances this year. Yeah, they’re breaking in a new QB, but the running game should be there and will have a good WR corps to work with. The O-line should be improved and should give him time to throw by allowing little penetration. UGA’s O-line allowed few sacks last season. Success will be predicated by the D. Whether or not Grantham can make the adjustments necessary to effectively run the 3-4 early in the season will be the key. The schedule is favorable, and UGA tends to do well when expectations are low.

UGA will have a deep and experienced offensive line, provided that another avalanche of injuries doesn’t happen again. The new quarterback will also have a wealth of skill position players around him, between A.J. Green, Washaun Ealey, Caleb King, Marlon Brown, Orson Charles, and Logan Gray. No one else in the division has that much proven talent at the skill positions—not even Florida.

I know this is a homer pick (so sue me), but how does Georgia not beat Florida next season? If Richt can’t beat Florida in a year where it loses its Defensive coordinator, a large percentage of its defensive starters, as well as its heralded 3 1/2 year QB, along with both main receiving options (TE and Cooper), AND at least one of its starting offensive linemen, then Georgia might as well fire Richt right now.

“Just seems like he lost a lot for something that happens a 1,000 time a week in college bars….”

I somewhat agree. However, there are a couple of things to consider.

1. The publicity of it. It involved a UGA QB.

2. Perhaps the severity has been understated as another blogger said. I’m thinking it had to go a little farther than a slap on the but and boob. My guess is Zach was way more drunk than any man should be and must of made an absolute A$$ of himself.

It seems that 99% of the problems at Georgia involve drinking. Find a way to clamp down on that and many of those problems may disappear. I don’t care how normal some folks think it is for college kids to consume/over-consume alcohol, in the final analysis many just can’t handle it and makes asses of themselves. I’m sure Mett would agree, if he had the opportunity to make his decision over again, that drinking was not worth flushing his career at Georgia down the toilet. Getting kicked off the team is a tough pill to swallow but hey, he ordered the medicine. What kills me is that, to my know knowledge (or lack thereof), there doesn’t seem to be any “lessons learned” teaching to the team regarding appropriate behavior because athletes continue to get into trouble each year between the bowl game and the first game of the following season. It’s really become more than a little annoying and begs the question “Are you coming to Athens to get drunk and make an ass out yourself or are you coming to play ball and compete for championships?” I know it ain’t everyone. And neither is it even a majority. But too many, in my opinion, are coming for the wrong reasons. I understand that no coach has a crystal ball but we need to try harder (yeah I know it may not be possible) to identify those athletes before offering them an opportunity to wear the red and black.

I am all for guys getting second chances but the NCAA should step in when a kid gets kicked off one bowl division school and then gets courted by another. At a minimum he should not be allowed to play at a bowl division school. If one coach feels the transgressions rise to the level of expulsion, the other schools should accept this as well. Let him go to a junior college or some small school. Letting him play at a Texas Tech or any other school makes a mockery of the NCAA.

Straight from Valdosta here..The Blazers have enough quarterbacks. Although the talent of Mettenberger would be a good thing and four years of his talent would be amazing for the Blazers, VSU does not need star athletes that are going to make the headlines for the wrong reasons. Already this season our starting quarterback (whose no longer at VSU), transferred to VSU from Indiana University (Kellen Lewis), was arrested for battery on his girlfriend, our two star basketball players were given the boot for weed just before our elite 8 matchup and now our all-american baseball player was suspended for not going to class.

He went 7-6 at Alabama.

Saban has gone 5-3 or worse in conference 8 times.

Richt has only gone 5-3 or worse in conference 3 times in his first 9 years.

Compare that to Saban’s record and consistency in his 1st 9 years.

Glad the whole story came out. CMR is definitely justified in releasing ZM. I’m sure ZM is reeling from the magnitude of the consequences he’s facing, and the realization that a few moments of drunken idiocy will now follow him for the rest of his life. At least someone’s not dead, as often happens in these circumstances. Hopefully, the rest of the team is going to start to get the message.

I just don’t get it. Who walks into a bar (or anywhere else, for that matter), sees a drunken, slurring, staggering fool, and thinks “I want to be like that.” Wake up, kids, you’re not missing anything that you won’t regret.

Don’t make any excuses for this type behavior. It’s (the lame excuses) almost as bad as the horrible action itself. Mett almost got through this with a handslap and possibly could have if someone close to the incident had not come forward and done the right thing. Then he gets lawyered up and gets the more serious of the charges dismissed and comes out smelling like a rose with a couple of misdemeanors and a little probation. Also, under the first offender plea he entered, the charges will not remain on his record. He will not have to register as a sex offender either. As bad as all this is in a career ruining way, believe me- it could have been worse. Lesson of the day: Working at the sawmill beats prison time any day! That’s Mett Life…….

Hoop Dawg, I agree Mett needed to go. Any place you went in Buckhead or Midtown in the late 90s, early 2000’s always had some a-hole who would play grab grab. I am not saying it is ok, but I just think we aren’t getting the whole story of what happened.

Indeed, TCU v. Ohio State would be a depressing matchup.

Will someone do a little research and see if there isn’t a Div I-AA school that has a tougher schedule than Ohio State? It’s amazing what a powderpuff schedule those guys seem to string together. I mean, maybe in 1948 those teams were formidable, but now???

I think Mett going to play for TT at TAM is a good fit. I would not doubt but Richt helped make that happen. Now… time to move past this. The summer practice gets underway in a few months, and we have bigger things to worry about. Long-term, the Dawgs wiill be ok. I don’t think Murray will be any worse than Cox was, and we will have a better OL and backfield, and our defense HAS to be better. With a good schedule, this could be a good (not great) year. If the prediction of the BCS is right, and we beat Florida, then I am going to be a very happy Dawg this Fall. Here’s hoping it happens!

Preston – Agreed. The SEC should have a default invite to the BCS championship until such time as we actually lose one. It’s laughable that the above website says TCU will play for the national title. If that’s not an argument for a playoff I don’t know what is.

Yes we should have a good shot at the BCS. The UGA/UF winner has a very good chance of being the SEC champ or an at-large invite to the BCS.

The Tech game is likely to be even easier this year. They lost most of their talent to the draft. We have the same dominant line and running game and they are more experienced this time. Can’t see that game as a big challenge this year.

Mettenberger will probably do very well on the field at a Texas Tech or Louisville type school. With his arm that’s an ideal situation for him.

It is a shame for Mett, IMO he was the best QB UGA had, hopefully he has learned and gets a 2nd chance in D1.

If there is cell phone video why was it not released? Maybe the girl did not want it released, afterall she was not charged and who knows, there maybe a civil suit too. I am not saying there is a video or not but we do not know all the facts and both sides have reason to keep it private. Maybe he was punished more than an average College Student but he should have known that being on D1 team and QB at that comes with more exposure. He has less excuses than most growing up around the program.

I understand why CMR let him go and after the suspension that would be required if he was on the team, he would be out of the QB race anyways. It is in Mett’s best interest to start over. I can see CMR recommending Mett to Tubberville too. Mett should be walking on egg shells as long as he is on probation making him as close as you can get to a sure bet in terms of off field actions. Another year under a good QB coach at the pace he has been learning would make him an even more solid QB.

Ohio St. vs TCU? I can not think of 2 more overrated teams. Atleast project Texas vs Boise St. Boise St. atleast wins their bowl games compared to TCU…..

UGA over UF? doubtful. A defense in transition and an OC that has not won the big game often. If CMR calls majority of the plays UGA may win.

The point on Mett that everybody is missing is that he lied to Richt and said nothing happened but a brush across the backside, so he actually didn’t “own up to his transgression” to get a second chance with Richt and UGA. UGA 12 SEC titles…Fla 3

UGA 6th all time in winning percentage for bowls…Fla losing record in bowls

UGA lead head to head by 8 games

UGA has finished ranked top ten 6 times in last 9 years…Fla 3.

UGA has 11 bowl wins in last 13…Fla not even 50%

Yep other than backing into a NC solely because USC lost to UCLA on the last week of 2006 and to Ore St in 2008 UGA has a far better record while Richt has been caoch

UGA has 90 wins to Flas 90 wins but Fla needed a total collapse from UGA last year to catch up to them in wins.

Yep Fla is clearly a better program.

under Richt

He is 24-7 against the SEC West.

He is 28-16 against the SEC East.

He is 38-4 against nonconference opponents.

He is 8-1 against Georgia Tech.

He won four of his first five games against Tennessee, but has lost three of the last four against the Vols since then.

He was born the same year as Chuck D of Public Enemy.

Ranks third in winning percentage among active college coaches that have coached for at least five years, now that Pete Carroll left USC for the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks.

He is 90-27, trailing only Urban Meyer (96-18) and Bob Stoops (117-29).\\yeah he is pretty damn good

Mark Richt is one of only six coaches to win two SEC football championships in their first five years coaching. He is also one of only five head coaches in SEC history to record four straight 10-win seasons

Coach Richt’s Red and Black outfits have never posted a losing record in conference play and six of his last eight squads have finished 6-2 or better in regular-season SEC contests.

Mark Richt’s overall success in Southeastern Conference action—including two SEC titles, three conference championship game appearances, and four finishes of no worse than tied for first place in the East, with no losing records in the process—is without parallel in Georgia football history.

yeah whatever…are you really trying to argue this? Ask anyone who has no bias, toward either program, who has the better program and universal opinion will be Florida. Florida over the last 20 years has emerged as a “big boy” in college football with Steve Spurrier and now with Urban Meyer. Watch espn, read the news occasionally….Florida has won 2 BCS National Championships in the last 4 years, produced numerous top draft pics, recruited top classes, had Heisman winners, and is consistently a top ranked program. UGA recruits like Florida but doesn’t produce anything close to the success that Florida has enjoyed….so how is UGA the better program again?

No its not an insult. It was a cleverly worded metaphor intended to illustrate how I view UGA fans in relation to the 2002 season. Insults are meant to demean and lower someones self worth or value. For example: ” Yeah Whatever is stupid” that’s an insult. I use clever diction, prose, and other writing tools to formulate an argument that would incite a response while at the same time showing my opinion on your “whining” about the 2002 season.

UNDER Richt

Vs. SEC foes: 52-23

.
Vs. Top 25 foes: 29-18
.
Vs. Top 25 foes away from home: 18-12
.
Vs. Top 10 foes: 8-6
.
In postseason games (bowls and championships): 9-3
.
In games decided by a touchdown or less: 34-14
.
Record at home: 46-11
.
Record on the road: 42-6 (including bowl games)
.
Losses to unranked teams: 6
.
Top 25 finishes: 8
.
Top 10 finishes: 6
.
Fact:………UGA was 12-1 in 2002 (prior to bowl selections)
.
Fact ………Fla was 12-1 in 2006 (prior to bowl selections)
.
Fact ………Not UGAs fault there were 2 unbeatens that year. “unlucky”
.
Fact……….Not Flas credit that there was only one unbeaten in 2006. “Lucky”
.
Fact:………Luck (not merit) had more to do with Fla getting an invite to the BCS not that Fla was more deserving to go to a NC than UGA with identical records.
.
Fact:………No SEC team has ever lost a BCSNC game and if UGA would have been invited nothing indicates that it would have been different
.
Fact……….UGA has 2 SEC titles..same as Fla in last 9 years and equal amount of total wins (90) over all.
.
Fact……….UGA has been ranked more times top ten in last 9 years than any SEC team at 6. Fla has only been ranked top ten 3 times in 9 years (real impressive).
.
Fact……….In 9 years under Richt the only SEC team with more wins is LSU

Fact………..UGA has won 4 str8 bowls….more than any other SEC team.
.
Fact……..UGA has won 11 of last 13 bowls…Thats more than any team (tied with LSU and more than FLA)
.
Fact…… UGA has won 8 or more games in last 13 years…more than any other team in the nation including Fla.
.

Fact…….UGA is clearly as good or better than any SEC team over last 9 years. Only a fool or a fan of the mythical BCSNC selection process (non playoff) would think otherwise.
.
Fact…….UGA had same record when they won the SEC title in 2002 as Fla did in 2006/8 when they won the SEC title. But UGA had the misfortune (luck) to have that record in a year that had 2 other teams with undefeated records.
Hardly an indictment on UGA but rather on the NC selection process.

I did. I said 2 trumps 0…that’s the only stat that the majority of the nation cares about. Thats all I was saying. Im not even a Florida fan….like I said I was just presenting the broader view. Im not saying its right or wrong but Florida is the better program in the eyes of the majority as a result of there recent success in the BIG GAME. I understand your facts and while they are valid to me and you they most likely don’t matter to anyone outside of the state of Georgia. So 2>0 in opinion polls is not as strong as actual events on the field. Fla did win the bowl called a BCSNC but its no more than that … a bowl. However, 12-1 is no better or worse than 12-1…unless you use unicorn opinion polls.

What Zach did was absolutely WRONG. I do think however that Richt should have left the door open for Mett to redeem himself. The courts have given him punishment that they deem appropriate. At least Richt could have given him some hurdles to meet to gain re-instatement to the team. As it is now if he goes to another team he won’t have to do anything but show up and play. Rarely in our society do we deliver such harsh punishment for the first offense.

Flo-Ri-Duh!

May 4th, 2010

Mett did not make a “mistake” – what he did was on purpose. Try as you might to change the definition of “mistake” – it still means unintentional error. I guess that he temporarily went blind and grabbed hold of her breast not knowing what he was doing? If you said he was stupid and used poor judgement then I would agree with you. Sometimes poor judgement is a crime.

harsh? It’s an amateur sports team. A Game. He got kicked off of a sport team playing a game. He’s lucky he didnt have to go to jail.

I think its also been widely (speculated at least) that the first offense occured in the bar, the second offense most likely occured in Richt’s office.

As far as earning his way back, he certainly will not just show up and play, not till he sits a year, if its a D-1 school. I am positive he will have earned a spot By sitting and practicing with no chance of playing for a year.

Frankly as far as his career, Richt probably did him a favor depending on where he ends up. And you can bet Richt is doing everything he can to find him another program.

What a crock that statement is. CMR is paid millions of dollars to win as many games as he can, period. Before CUM and CNS came to the SEC, Richt’s coaching was fine. Those two coaches have raised the bar, and CMR hasn’t met it. These are the expectations placed on him by the fans, otherwise their wouldn’t be so many people on these blogs calling for his head.

Saban has taken two SEC teams to a MNC in his first three years of coaching each team. CUM has won two MNC’s in five seasons. Richt has won ZERO in ten years. That’s all that needs to be said about that subject.

Also, i’m not upset that Mett was kicked off the team. He broke the law and he was punished for it. I don’t understand the double standard that CMR has, though.

Why give Montez Robinson a second chance after he BEATS his woman, yet kick Mett off the team because he grabbed some chic’s a$$ in a drunken stupor??

The message I read is that it’s ok to beat a woman, as long as you don’t lie about it. So lying is a worse sin than woman beating in Richt’s book??? Hell Robinson would still be on the team if he wasn’t stupid enough to beat the same woman. The same chic who had a freaking restraining order against him.

Honestly, the only reason Mett was kicked off the team was because of all of the bad pub that the Bulldog program has received recently. So much for “making fine young men.”

I disagree w/ you. I have a three year old daughter. If what I hear about Mett’s case is accurate, this young female as is much to blame as he is. She wore a short skirt and a low cut top??

Ever heard of this saying, “Don’t advertise what youre not selling.”

If this were my daughter, I’d be the first in line to kick Mett’s a$$. THEN I would chastize her for what she was wearing in a club where she knew drunk men would be.

Did Robinson not get kicked off the team because he “came into contact” w/ the same female that had a restraining order out on him??

Secondly, Mett was kicked off the team for lying to Richt, which i’m fine with. But why give Robinson a second chance after he BEAT a woman? All Mett did was “innapropriately” touch a female. What he did isn’t any worse than what Robinson did.

Seems to me the lesson is not to lie to the honorable Coach Richt.

It’s simple my man. They are looking for this attention. Of course when they get it they are sorry.

And just like w/ Dez Bryant of Okie State, poor Mett is kicked off the team not because he broke a rule/law, but because he lied and tried to cover it up.

In the mean time, REAL women predators like Montez Robinson get to beat these females yet get a second chance.

Well first of all , I don’t know if she had a restraining order or not. I never read that. As I recall the second dispute happened in somebody bedroom. I don’t recall any kind of trespassing or breaking in being mentioned so I’d say she wasn’t exactly hiding behind a restraining order of her making. Maybe. Either way, no matter, he got boooted for that and should have.

But the point you are missing is that his first arrest was for busting her tail light. The police, not her, made that case against him based of there being a previous domestic dispute call, and some kind of continuation law.

So NO, he did not get a second chance after beating some woman. No charges were pressed. Obviously there was no evidence of physical harm, or they would have had to arrest him on the spot.
Look I’m not defending him for the first instance. Obviously he has some issue with the girl, he acted inappropriate. But you don’t kick a guy off the team because of accusation. You seem to be critical of the even handedness right? OK then nobody gets kicked off because they get into an argument with another person. THAT would be inconsistant. The tail light incident……you make the call on that. Is that the level to get kicked off or suspended? Then he had his SECOND arrest (BEAT up a woman in your words), he is gone. How is that not by the book?

And either you think lying to the coach about his very serious issue is a big deal or not. Either that was strike 2, or it’s not. Either it’s acceptable or its ground for dismisal. If so, then the sarcastic “honorable” comment is just out of line.

Altahama,

I’m pretty sure that I read that she had a restraining order out from Tucker’s blog when the news broke that Robinson was arrested. I could be mistaken though.

You said the police arrested him the first time because of a broken taillight and the fact that she had called police once already because of a “domestic dispute.” THIS should have been grounds for getting kicked off the team, IMO.

Afterall, Mett was arrested once but because he lied to the almighty he gets the boot.

You call it evenhandedness. I call it being fair. We know that’s not what this is about. When you give certain players special rules THIS is what happens.

Now Richt has been put in a situation where he had to kick Mett off the team just because of public scrutiny. This, even though it was his first offense.

Jimmy

May 4th, 2010
10:10 pm

…and don’t even try to pull that comparison off. Hooters waitresses are dressed like they are to attract men. We all know that. Even though I only go for the chicken wings!

AltamahaDawg

May 4th, 2010
10:29 pm

So it is your contention that Richt has special rules because he favor women abusers over a white suburban kid whose mom works for him?

BTW, I know from my dealing with my own almost grown kids now, I can overlook a mistake or poor judgement, and trying to make it right, but the punishment goes considerable higher , if they outright lie about it, while I am trying to be forgiving of the initial transgression.

When I was growing up, we drove around the country at about 14. I remember wrecking the folks LTD one night while they were gone. Dad was just going have just made me pay a small part of getting it fixed, but when he found out I had lied about the circumstanses, that’s when I lost the driving graces till I could get my own car.

Jimmy

May 4th, 2010
10:39 pm

While you make a fair point, I guess we’ll agree to disagree. Mett was kicked off the team for lying, which is fine.

I’m still talking about beating a female, or “slamming her to the ground” or however it was worded in the police report, compared to groping a female in a bar when youre drunk.

It’s an apples to oranges comparison to me. And I still think Mett was only booted after all of the other moron UGA athletes got arrested because they decided to get drunk in public. This is why i’m making all of these sarcastic remarks about his holyness.

It is apple and oranges, so I have no idea why compare them. That was my original point, One has nothing to do with the other.

You may think it’s OK for your ‘boy’ to be drunk in a bar – after all boys will be boys – but not OK for a girl to be in that same bar – and I doubt if any here really know how she was dressed or was acting – but, again, I assure you it your ‘boy’ does to my ‘girl’ what Metts did to this young lady, you and/or your boy are gonna have hell to pay.

Root for Alabama now, on May 6 ?

Put the bottle down. Our season is not lost, not yet. Not like last year when we were down to nothing but root for Alabama with our own season down the drain, long since.

Virginia Tech, that has been is who UGA aspires to play as our reward this year, for having Coach Richt take over complete responsibility for the lousy horrible offense we have had from our current still here offensive coaching staff, all coaching positions they never played themselves. And so we produce nothing but penalties, fumbles, throw interceptions, and cannot figure out to put our better players out there on offense.

I doubt seriously that anyone will even begin to consider us a Top 25 team before we go out and prove something offensive in the new season. Look at the last 2 years we prepared zero quarterbacks. That would be 2006 with our 4 Losses that season, and 2009 with our 5 Losses that season. Here we are again. No quarterback prepared again, exactly as we accomplished 2006 and 2009. Well, it is entirely clear that with 14 seniors and 5 juniors all leaving after this season, it is totally impossible to call this a rebuilding year. 11 returning starters on offense.

We have several more years ahead of us in this downward spiral since 2005.

10-3 or 9-4.

Beat Florida.

Oh, give me a damn break Bill King. Every year we hear the same damn thing. 3 times in the last 2 decades. And, you have the unmitigated gall to quote College Football News’ idiots that we will beat Florida this year. God Almighty, son. But the damn bottle down Bill King.

We will beat Florida and play in 1 of 2 BCS Bowls, either the Orange vs Virginia Tech or the Sugar vs Nebraska.

Your choice of what you talk about, is just amazing Bill King. It always has been. But discussing what you call multiple postings saying, like Aron White, that what Zach Mettenberger has done is not all that bad, reaches new levels, even for you Bill King.

There is NO difference between what Montez Robinson a 4-Star Top 10 Recruit at his position did in 1st slamming the little lady student at UGA against a dumpster October 20 which got him a 1 game suspension, then November 30 attacking her car in a parking lot breaking the tail lights, finally April 4, picking her up at McWhorter Hall in public and slamming her repeatedly to the floor, to pick her up again and slam her yet again and again criminally into the floor

and, what

Zach Mettenberger a 4-Star Top 10 Recruit at his position did in repeatedly grabbing a college student at Valdosta State, and in public committing multiple sexual criminal offenses against her.

If you cannot see how wrong those 2 top football recruits here, are, then there is nothing I can write to you that will make you understand.

There is no difference in what the 2 have done to bring such shame on their fathers and to bring such shame on anyone else in their life such as Aron White.

I have no respect for Montez Robinson or Zach Mettenberger. You act like what Zach Mettenberger did was to get drunk. Uh, no that is not at all what Zach Mettenberger did. Oh, it is; but it is so insignificant in the entire time from March 7 when he got drunk and being kicked off the team once all this was known to Coach Richt. It is just like Montez Robinson. I don’t believe Zach Mettenberger. He got drunk. Hey, even the police dropped all those charges, 2 fake ID, obstruction, public drunk, causing a disturbance. That was NOT what Zach did that was so bad that I took such a hard stance against Aron White for defending him. He lied to the police, lied to Coach Richt, lied to himself that he thought he could get away with it, just as anyone who thinks that what Zach Mettenberger did to the young Sorority lady was any less than what Montez Robinson did to his girlfriend.

What we have here is 39 in the last 3 years alone who have been Arrested / Suspended according to David Hale last week on macon.com on this Georgia Bulldogs’ Football Team, and it is the same they do off the field they do on the field averaging # 96 in NCAA Penalties the last 4 years in a row too.

They think they can do whatever the hell they want to do.

On the field or off the field.

The G-Day Game ended with Nick Williams holding down Washaun Ealey. Then, Washaun gets up finally and hits Nick Williams in the face.

No Penalty called.

We are not teaching these kids a damn thing.

And, we absolutely are not recruiting the right type of players here, not with 94 Arrests / Suspensions I have URL Links to everyone of in the Coach Richt Era for us.

And, to those of you who say there are no comparisons with other football teams that is available for you to read, you too should spend more time reading, and less posting.

I still don’t understand with all the discussion about Zach Mettenberger’s poor mom, and nothing ever said about his Dad.

Does no Dad sit down with his Son and talk to him about young ladies anymore ?

I am appalled.

Disgusted.

Horrified.

These Georgia Bulldogs’ Football Players have NO RESPECT. If you are going to suspend a guy 1 game for slamming a young lady who is a University of Georgia student into a dumpster and 2 more games for breaking her taillights, and only then throw him off the team for repeatedly picking her up and slamming her to the McWhorter Hall floor; then this is what you get.

A guy thinking he can do whatever the hell he wants to do on TV in the G-Day Game, with NO PENALTY CALLED.

Or, off the field to any young lady any way he wants.

I am a big football player at UGA.

I am entitled.

I can get away with it.

I did not even do anything wrong. Days later he tells Coach Richt he did nothing else wrong. No more will come of the incident. I am going to be good. I was good. I just made a small mistake.

Now, in Coach Richt’s defense, he did not know. When he did know, he kicked him off the team and could not tell us why. But, I don’t think team rules was right. It was clear that it would all come out. There were 50 people in the bar. We all read what they all said, that they saw first hand.

AM680 the Fan carried the story and reported 3 SOURCES.

I read 2 more.

Coach Richt should have said, we have to have some respect around here, and act like gentlemen. I am sorry but Zach Mettenberger is kicked off the team and his Scholarship given to a walk-on. This press meeting today is about that walk-on and how he promises me that he will not let me down.

You sit in here making excuses.

And, this what we get.

10 Losses to 10 SEC East teams the last 20 games, and 5 of those Losses are to teams not ranked in the Top 25 of the Final AP Poll these last 4 years and 39 Arrests / Suspensions OFF THE FIELD with # 96 every year the last 4 years in a row average in Penalties ON THE FIELD.

RESPECT ?

We have NONE off the field or on the field and we are # 9 in The SEC out of 12 football programs in Graduation Rates.

You make all the excuses up you want. You say that what Zach Mettenberger did is not as bad as what Montez Robinson did all you want. I will tell you the truth, that what they both did was exactly the same.

And, you are not going to turn this around in this program.

I am quite sure, I will.
