Bulldog Bites: Christmas in Shreveport

(Georgiadogs.com)

(Georgiadogs.com)

Georgia wrapped up its pre-bowl practices in Athens today and the players will be hitting the road on their own for Shreveport, where they’re expected to report by 3:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday. First up once they get there, the athletic department says, will be a team activity at Barksdale Air Force Base.

The Dogs will practice again Friday afternoon at Independence Stadium, after beginning Christmas Day with a morning visit to patients at a local hospital. Some of the players have grumbled about being away from home on Christmas, but maybe they’ll feel less sorry for themselves after that. A dinner is planned at the team hotel Christmas evening.

The Dogs will practice again on Saturday and hold a walk-through session on Sunday before Monday’s game against the Aggies. The Dogs are a 7-point favorite with the game’s over/under betting total set at 64 points, which, considering the offenses and defenses involved, some might consider kind of conservative.

I’m hoping the Dogs don’t get into a high-scoring shootout with the Aggies. If they do, it’ll mean the game plan (run the ball, control the clock and keep QB Jerrod Johnson on the sideline) didn’t work.

I’m thinking it might wind up something along the lines of 38-21 in favor of the Dogs. What does your crystal ball say?

INDEPENDENCE BOWL FLASHBACK

(The Helmet Project)

(The Helmet Project)

Georgia’s previous visit to Shreveport, to play Arkansas in the 1991 Independence Bowl during the Ray Goff era, isn’t one of those games of the ages that fans like to reminisce about. But if you’d like to refresh your memory about the game (which Georgia won 24-15), UGA football historian Patrick Garbin provides an interesting look back.

For a lot of folks, that game is most notable for Goff having given in to the players by adding a black stripe down the center of the red helmets and black facemasks. Thankfully, that was the only time that design was used.

The Blawg is taking a holiday break the rest of the week. See you back here for the bowl game.

The season should be coal enough in their stockings. If you don’t want to be away on Christmas, play better next season, quit the team, or convince the coach not to go to the bowl game. Enjoy your extra Christmas gifts, i.e. bowl swag, and get ready to play a good A&M team.

10th and proud of it. Let’s just win and move on to next season and finish recruiting strong. Hopefully, CMR has a great DC picked out and we are just waiting. I would think that since Diaz from MTSU hasn’t been announced, he is not the one. I would say that “may be” a good thing. Not real sure what to think about him. I trust CMR! One of the best Bowl match-ups this year; two great defensive ends, two good running backs, a really good QB, and perhaps the most talented WR, Punter and Kicker in America.

ESPN actually pimped us a bit in 2007, which is extremely unusual, especially with the two-headed hater that is the Mark May-Lou Hotlz hosted CFB show on ESPN. I do not remember anyone thinking ESPN was the reason we did not make the NC game in 2007.

Given the less than high profile of the game why could they not be required to be in Shreveport on Christmas afternoon?

This is just stupid, but, as others have said previously, it is what it is when you lose to KY, at home, after being way up on the scoreboard at halftime!

Bill, I was too late to get in a comment on the earlier blog.
First, I think that the Bluebonnet Bowl and the Tangerine Bowl in the ’70’s brought about similar malaise amongst the Bulldog faithful.
And, I can guarantee you, when CMR finally leads us to the promised land of the mythical BCS Championship Game, it will sell out within 24 hours…
Second, one of my favorite memories of this Bulldog year was wehn you hosted Cuz and Baylie in the Sky Box.
And, finally, here’s to a very Merry and safe and peaceful Christmas for you and your family!

For those of you traveling to Shreveport, I can suggest some good places to eat if you want to hear it from someone born and raised there. Herby K’s is a very famous hole in the wall seafood restaurant. Order the shrimp buster and a draft beer and thank me later. The original Superior Grill also is a pretty famous Mexican restaurant and the atmosphere is great (and the margaritas are stout). Superior Steakhouse, right down the street on Line Avenue, is another good hot spot to get a drink at night, and the food is good there too, but it’s fine dining. Hope you enjoy your trip!

First, I think they should have elected not to go to a bowl, beating Tech was the high point of this season. Second, I think they should travel as a team, for several reason I won’t even get into.

I hate to be a grinch but viewing the comments and the seemingly bad karma surrounding the trip I don’t think the Dawgs show up and will be soundly thrashed by A&M capping a somewhat miserable season. I hope I’m wrong and we see more of the offensive philosophy which led to the Tech win.

Changing to a more positive subject, I hope everyone has a blessed, safe, and Merry Christmas. Santa, please bring us a “Real Defensive Coordinator”.

This is an open letter to UGA fans from a Tech fan. First of all, congrats on beating GT. I was at the game and although it didn’t end up the way I wanted, it was entertaining and in doubt up until the last pass that D. Thomas uncharacteristically dropped.
The blogs are filled with hatred that goes both ways…I understand passion, but it seems to get out of hand.
My take is that UGA was a better team last year and Tech won the game. I think the same thing happened this year. UGA consistently outrecruits Tech and most of DIV 1 football. To me, there is no reason for UGA to play as poorly as they did most of 2009. I think in the Tech game they played hard, smarter than usual, and were rewarded. Tech doesn’t have the luxury of 4 & 5 star athletes 2-deep at most positions. Coach Johnson has re-energized the Tech program and has an offensive system that works and is adaptable. I can’t imagine anyone seriously suggesting that UGA has gotten as much from their talent as Tech in the past 2 years. I think 2 strong teams from the state of GA is a good thing for all. I don’t expect UGA to be down long and Coach Richt has proven he is a winning coach in the SEC. I also expect Coach Johnson to keep Tech as a consistent winner capable of beating any team on any given day. Going into this year’s Tech/UGA game, UGA was hoping to avoid Shreveport and GT wanted to go to the Orange Bowl. Not much changed with the exception that UGA outplayed GT and earned back bragging rights. I hope the rivalry remains strong and fans from both sides can keep it all in perspective.

Paul Johnson and the Triple Option are not scary long term…I’d give him 5 years before the coaches and fans realize that the players’ chance of playing in the NFL is seriously diminished by playing the triple option. As a UGA grad, read and weep Bulldog players. You collective attitude has been lousy for awhile and now, you can see the results of that lousy, apathetic attitude. You ( D team ) laid low with OSU and with KY and also celebrated to excess vs LSU and laid low with Charles Scott on that toss sweep TD, Rennie Curran and whoever that corner back was. Lousy play begets a LOUSY BOWL and y’all deserve it. Dine at Shoney’s with all the fried shrimp you can order. You deserve it.

Snooze and you lose ( a major bowl bid ) and I for one am glad that Richt is having to face such a disaster. Now, maybe the UGA Athletic Dept and Dr Adams will start to sit up and take note.

Really, there were people here thinking we would beat Florida and play in the Sugar bowl, with a rookie quarterback and an undecided running game with horrible performance reports coming from practices? I do not remember that kind of optimism being spread on the blogs. I did not expect to loose to Kentucky or OSU, but the rest of the season turned out about the way I and most realistic dawgs expected. I figured we would loose to Auburn or Tennessee. Still shocked we almost beat LSU. So you can post your bit and laugh if you want, but I am pretty sure we will beat who ever you root for again soon.

Quit questioning why the players ‘travel on their own’. It’s been common practice for years – a way to pay the players mileage rates. They get a little spending money in their pocket and can pile it up if they share rides. Mileage is based on distance from their home to the bowl site. They couldn’t do it if the AA paid for team travel. It’s a reward system, been around a LONG time, and lots of schools do it.

It doesn’t really matter except that the kids get to play in a bowl game, and all the underclassmen get one more game’s worth of experience. It is hard to say which UGA team will show up, but if they want to go out in style they will play long and hard. The one thing to realize is that there are not alot of seniors on this team to begin with, and if the D coach, and D coach GA’s do a good job, then UGA will win this shoot out. I expect that to be an average game for UGA and A&M will try to make it a statement game. Our coaches will try to be building on something too!

As much as I love the Bowl games, I can’t stand the schedule. Only one game should be played after Jan. 1 and that is the National Championship Game. I am an old timer that thinks that New Years Day should be the hight light of the bowl season other that the NCG. We don’t have a playoff because we are worried about losing class time and some schools will have to cancel classes for there games. Mark Richt has 9 letters in his name. So that would seem to indicate that his cycle will be completed after his 9th season.
9

So if 2010 is the year Richt wins the Natl Champ, to complete a cycle, you’d have to think his jersey number in college, like the 9 letters in his name, would have been “9″, meaning, he will experience something great after his 9th year as a coach. Richt’s jersey number at Miami as QB was in fact:
9

Hedgecutter, shut your mouth, sore loser. Your team lost to Georgia for the 8th time in 9 games. Losers don’t get to call their conquerors pitiful – it just makes you sound stupid. And if you want to talk about “luck” – explain how Tech was even still in the game after Georgia controlled the line of scrimmage so thoroughly. And it’s not our fault your guy couldn’t catch a pass that hit him between the numbers. Catching is still a fundamental part of a passing offense, right?

Try to maintain some dignity. Big deal – you lost to Georgia. Sheesh, you would think that you’d be use to it by now.

For those of you concerned about the players getting to the game on their own, I think it has to do with stipends. They each get a certain amount of money to travel, and they can spend it any way they want. It’s enough to fly, I think, but they can drive (and even car pool to save bucks). This is one way to pay them for their services, and what kid doesn’t want some extra cash before Christmas? My only worry is a accident along the way with any kind of injury. God speed to all the players, and safe journey to kickoff and return. Happy Holidays, everyone, and GO DAWGS!!

Truly, as an 85 grad and letterman, I could care less about the outcome.

The only thing it represents to me is leaving the office early on Mon. and take the game in at some decent sports bar.

Tell MR thx for sticking with Joe Cox and he should remind himself he’s 8-9 whatever yrs. in to this thing at Ga and he better tighten up over the offseason. Maybe shed the cruise after spring ball and he and Bobo get thier act together.

The defense is a job for whoever they bring in. I think Ga has a good shot next yr. but based on the past MR will drop one that he should win and hold up his tract record so far. Most likely Arky at home.

In 2010 we will have great running game, great O line and much better defence. Our speciality teams will be led by the best kicking combo in the country. 12 NATIONAL TITLES – 22 SEC TITLES!!!

Guys – I smell an upset – Texas A&M will win this game.

The vibe I am getting from the bulldog nation and Athens is very similar to Alabama last year = and we got UTAH’D.

– TEXAS A&M is fired up to play UGA
– They have sold out their tickets and buying UGA tickets
– Practice Reports are that they are fired up and excited to be playing this game – and sense a victory.
– UGA under Richt does not do well in bowl games when the clear favorite – save Hawaii (see BC and West VA)
– UGA is without a defensive coaching staff – and your DL Coach is rumored to be leaving as well.

Seems to me that UGA is going through the motions – and TEXAS A&M is preparing as if they are playing for a National Title.

Last year – underdogs won over 60% of the bowl games – for the reason above. Again – see Alabama – UTAH.

Also – last spring I predicted UGA would win 8 games most – might win only 5 games – but wind up with a 6-6 or 7-5 record. and several folks tore me apart on these blogs.

I am merely calling it as I see it – and I could tell that UGA was going to struggle this year for the following reasons:
– losing Moreno/Stafford/MOMass was huge.
– OL was not good last year – despite what UGA was saying (and same players this year – 2009)
– Defense has been sliding since 2006 – and no DE play last year with no stars this year.
– NO QB – Joe Cox = Greg Talley – although Cox (and Talley) are two kids that you want to root for.

Results speak for themselves.

Texas A&M wins – but this will not be an upset. UGA will earn this defeat with sloppy play – stupid penalties – turn over issues, etc (see Kentucky, OK STATE, TN, FL, – and dang lucky did not get beat by AZ STATE and SC.

I will root for the UGA team – but this has been a horrible “team” and a horrible coaching job by this staff.

Observor

December 23rd, 2009

Brucemac,

2010 dawgs will go 7-5 or 8-4 again. Florida is an automatic loss. South Carolina, UT, GT, and Auburn are probable losses but dogs will win 1 or 2 of those 4 games. If they split then that’s 3-4 losses.

Then they will probably lose one of their 2 games to a west division opponent and then there’s always Kentucky. Hard to believe but Kentucky actually now competes with Georgia having split the last 4 with the dawgs. And if Georgia doesn’t get a lucky 4th down td pass last year then UK would have won 3 of the last 4 against the dawgs.

Its shocking but dawg fans were leaving in droves when UK took only a 6 pt lead against the dawgs midway through the 4th qtr this year. That pretty much was the defining moment for Georgia football in 2009.

I’m going with 7-5 and 8-4 best case scenario. On top of everything else UGA will be breaking in a new qb and most likely it will be a redshirt frosh. Its never good to start a freshman even if they have a year as a redshirt to learn. We’ve all seen what Logan Gray can do: Not much.

Richt probably gets fired at the end of next season. And btw I’m not even a dawg hater. Just call it like I see it.

1. it’s always been travel on your own to bowl games, even for the sugar bowl in 2007
2. the money they get is NOT enough to cover travel. They get $125 for the entire trip and that includes for meals they have to pay for
3. they have to travel as a team to any other game, they don’t have the option to drive to any other game and pocket the difference

Brucemac,

I’m not Bama Stan, but I believe the proof will be in the pudding very early for the 2010 Dawgs with the 9/11 game in Columbia. USC is returning something like 18 starters and they seemed to gel later in the season. If the Dawgs survive that one, they might get on a pretty nice roll.

The road for Bama next year is going to be very, very hard. IF we win the NC, then the target naturally comes with it. Plus, this season we played three SEC teams who were coming off of bye weeks (Auburn, MSU and UT). More than anyone else in the conference. Next year? SIX teams will be coming off byes (Auburn, LSU, MSU, Ole Miss, SC and UT) four of which are in our own division. No other SEC school plays more than one in 2010.

Expect a shake-up in scheduling for 2011.

Mark:

I have to agree with just about everything that you said. tech outcoached and outplayed UGA last year when UGA had the better team.

UGA has not played a complete game of football since the 2008 season (that I can recall) and rarely have played even a good half of football in the last two seasons. I’m not talking about near perfection, just a good solid game of disciplined smart football for 4 quarters. I also agree with you that Paul Johnson is getting a lot out of his players. The only thing I disagree with you on is that UGA played smarter than they have against tech this year. I guess we played a “little” smarter, but there was no reason for that to be a close game. When one team can get 7-8 yards, at will, by running up the middle even in the 1st quarter when everyone is fresh… it shouldn’t come down to the final drive of the game.

UGA kept tech in it with some really boneheaded penalties and turnovers that were the trademark of our 2009 squad. Until we can force some turnovers, and stop leading the NCAA in dumb penalties and turnovers, it will be tough for us to compete in the SEC to any degree.

I should also like to discuss GIFTS.

I decided to look up the recruiting for 2010, now that the schools have the commitments that they will have for signing day in a few weeks.

Georgia Tech has ZERO Top 100 commitments.

Georgia Tech has ZERO 5-Star commitments.

Georgia Tech has no player considered any damn good at all.

Again, this year.

As every year.

Go play your schedules of six (6) games against “opponents” NOT even in a Bowl Game this year, as you just completed.

See, just see mind you, what kind of recruits you get for such a SORRY SCHEDULE.

Go play your HIGH SCHOOL OFFENSE.

See, just see mind you, what kind of recruits you get for such a HIGH SCHOOL OFFENSE.

Georgia Tech has only 3 high school players who want to come play on that offense.

UGA has players coming in next season such as :

Da’ Rick Rogers with 4.34 speed in the 40-yard dash with 6 feet 2 inches who is ranked the Number 1 Receiver in the Nation.

Brent Benedict a 6′ 6″ Offensive Tackle out of Jacksonville who is ranked the Number 6 Offensive Guard in the Nation.

Kolton Houston a 6′ 5″ Offensive Guard out of Buford who is ranked the Number 4 Offensive Tackle in the Nation.

Alec Ogletree a 6′ 3″ Safety out of Newnan who is ranked the Number 2 Safety in the Nation.

T.J. Stripling at 6′ 6″ out of Southwest DeKalb who is ranked the Number 4 Defensive End in the Nation.

Nickell Robey out of Frostproof Florida with 4.38 speed in the 40-yard dash who is ranked the Number 18 Cornerback in the Nation.

Garrison Smith out of Douglass High who is ranked the Number 1 Defensive Tackle in the Nation.

UGA has 7 of the Top Players in Florida and all the top players in the State of Georgia committed to UGA. This after your 1 good year since 1950, and after our worst year in the Coach Richt Era.

Who’s your Daddy ? 30-24. 8 of the last 9 years for Coach Richt. And, 60th beat down of Georgia Institute of Technology.

Why is Georgia Tech ranked the Number 41 Recruiting Class after your ACC CHUMPIONship, while UGA is the Number 6 Recruiting Class after we beat you 30-24 at your Stinking Stadium, again ? And, this LAME “we’re the Number 38 National University in the US News and World Report Rankings” doesn’t sound like crap to anyone either.

“WE’RE NUMBER 38.” What a hoot. That’s not a top school. It’s “top tier, tier 1” but so too is UGA. And, we absolutely OWN YOU in Athletics and in ACADEMICS of your Athletics compared to the Academics of our Athletics. We also beat your brains in at all sports, in the classroom and in each sport.

All of your Tech football commitments are ranked the Number 50 or the Number 90 in the Nation at their position. You have only 1 player recruited from outside the state of Georgia, and in-state you have nothing but the dredges, and they all will come to Tech and FLUNK OUT, as your Academic Progress Rate APR for Tech is WAY WORSE than the NCAA APR of UGA in football, who just beat your brains in, again doing little more than handing the ball off and lining up our men against your boys, who could NOT stop us, while by contrast, you GAVE UP ON YOUR HIGH SCHOOL OFFENSE and threw 4 passes to END THE GAME, 24-30.

UGA has 5 Top 100 players committed, three 5-Star Recruits, nine 4-Star Recruits and Tech has 0 Top 100, 0 5-Star, and 2 4-Star by direct comparison.

The ONLY 3 commitments on Offense Paul Johnson has are 2 OL ranked number 50 in the nation and a RB ranked number 50 in the nation. 3 high school football players in the entire United States of America want to come play in that high school offense. God Almighty Above.

Merry Christmas.

You can’t have too many good QBs and maybe some of them can play defense when they realize they will never play QB here. I agree with Mark on his post at 3:26. I watched the Pups play all year, as well as Tech. From my perspective UGA should have won more games this year, but failed to execute in some of them — the most glaring example was the Kentucky game. If the Pups has played all season as they did against the Jackets it would have been a much better record and a much better bowl choice.

Shreveport isn’t the greatest place to play, but at least you are playing in a bowl against a pretty good Aggie team. Play hard and smart like you did against Tech and you will end the year with a W and feel pretty good about things after all. I hope you do. Our state is well represented this year and both the Pups and Jackets can do us proud.

Once again congrats on beating us this year. Brag away, you earned it.

EVERY SINGLE O-Lineman is a SENIOR (have fun replacing an entire line)

Crompton is gone (senior)

Hardesty is gone (senior)

Gerald Jones is gone

Eric Berry is leaving early

At teh very least UT is going to have to replace 8 of 11 offensive STARTERS including #1 reciever, QB, #1 RB, and ENTIRE O-Line

I hate Tech as much as the rest of you guys. But if I hear one more nitwit refer to the triple option as a “high school offense”…

It was the dominant college offense of the 1970’s, and teams like Oklahoma, Colorado, and Nebraska were winning national titles with it (or a form of the option) in the 1980’s and 90’s. Alabama’s most dominant national championship teams ran that offense. Navy still uses it to lead the country in rushing every year. Nebraska hasn’t been the same since it went away from the option offense.

I have to assume that those who don’t get the triple option are under 30 years of age, or have memory problems. You can still hate Tech without disparaging their style of offense.

Just point out the following numbers: 60-39-5, 8 of 9, 30-24.

Enough said.

Posted this on Shultzie’s blog, but he is is bicoastal tendencies… this is for the faithful few.

Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the blog ,
not a creature was stirring
whether Jacket or Dog.
Shultzie’s gone coastal and Furman’s retired.
Some have moved on … and others were fired.

But out there in cyberspace
there arose such a clatter
I sprang to my laptop to see what was the matter…

With Grad assistants as coaches and no coordinator in sight
the defense stood poised for a a difficult fight.
We bulldogs are sleeping or crying in our beers
Cause Shreveport ain’t Miami
see the yellow jacket sneers.

With Saban usurping Urban’s fiery throne
what’s left for a bulldog?
Please throw us a bone.
you see our defense is porous and our morale is at a low.
Please help us find someone… yes someone in the know.
come Kirby… or anyone… please anyone with a clue.
The recruits they are wavering… and sampling Gator Blue.

But deep in the hearts of the true faithful few
burn memories of Sugar Bowls and and a hope that holds true.
So Santa if your out there and you’re surfing the net
We need a little break… we need the best you can get.

Shame on me for wasting the time to get to the end of this post just so that I could leave the comment that most of you big talkers about how you are so much smarter than CMR and he’d better get his act together or you’re going to straighten him out are fools. People should be required to post their annual and cumulative giving amounts in order to be allowed to post. CMR has won more Sugar Bowls than any coach in UGA history (2 out of 3), more top ten finishes than any coach in UGA history and on yet another post, the same fools are talking about how the # 1 rated overall player at any position by the Georgia Sportswriters Association, who just commited to Georgia, “isn’t good enough” to play in the SEC. Eskimo Joe and Mark the Tech fan are gems in a giant cesspools of idiocy, stupidity and foolish talk. CMR is the most successful coach in Georgia football history by any meaningful standard except two (NC and percentage wins against Florida). Under VD, UGA was happy to be Top 20, beat Tech and go to a Bowl game anywhere (until Hershel showed up). (No comfort to Tech fans either because in those days Tech wasn’t too hot either (except for a glorious tie against Notre Dame that we still appreciate)). I know about those days, I was standing there in Memphis freezing my rear end off against Arkansas and watching Boston College beat us in Tampa in the last seconds in the pouring rain. I hope that the people with real power don’t give the comments of the fools on this site any more credence than the drunk and insane ramblings of idiots and morons that they are. Sure, it was disappointing to lose to Kentucky. I was there when they beat the snot out of us in 1977 too. That was A LOT worse. I was there for the 38-0 loss at Homecoming to Virginia too. So, if you really are a Dawg fan, stop running your mouth and talking about how much smarter or better a coach you are than CMR. If you were, you wouldn’t have to post your brilliance anonymously to a bunch of strangers. And any Tech fan who has to crash onto a UGA post site just to prove that they are truculent, ill-behaved morons…..well…that’s just kind of sad. There, I think I’m done now. Eskimo Joe and Mark the Tech fan, I salute you and thank you for your refreshingly sane comments. CMR, I appreciate what you’ve done for the program and your accomplishments and look forward to more and greater things in the future. Merry Christmas. Go Dawgs.

I hope Texas A&M beats the sorry bulldogs. The more a hear about that GT vs ga game it makes me sick.If it is true that uga pups intenional hurt our QB,that is about as sorry as it gets.If that is the only way you can beat a good team, you need to give up as a team!!! I can’t wait to the next game, uga will keep the score up for a second!!!!!!!!!!

superDawg you need to be a real fan and support a real program.A program like ga is embarrassing. The fans I saw at that game act like they need help!!How would feel if one of our players intenional hurt a ga player and we called him the N word.Use your brain please!!!!

Tech man, you need to talk to your HC about looking after his players health. FYI, when you qb carreis the ball 20 times, people try to tackle him. Not to mention , there isnt a play in his book that your linemen don’t attempt to snap somebodies ankle.

AltamahaDawg, I played ball and I didn’t have to hurt people intenionaly to win.I beat them the right way and not the dirty way.You know and the some of the ga players knew they had to play dirty to win and keep the ball out if our hands. If you’ve been keeping up with your team at all,you got beat by Kentucky which Clemson will kill Sunday. Why do you think your coach didn’t like the drench of gatorade, because ga did not deserve the celebration.

Ga will be way down in 2010, with a new QB who is not that good. Tech will be loaded with quality depth, more speed and size and a system that UGA can’t defense. Look for an easy tech win in Athens next year, and more hedges cut down!!!!

AltamagaDawg,Do you want to know why that game hurts us so much? Because we were the better team. There were games in the past that we lost and it didn’t hurt as much! Didn’t it hurt when ga got beat by Kentucky, when you had the game in your pocket.AS long as we got a great coach like Paul Jhonson and keep getting excellent players we will have a lot of wins over the pups and Paul Jhonson realy knows now how important that game is to the fans and the program.

Tech Man you weren’t the best team this year or last year..difference this year was that CMR and company outcoached and out played the Bugs..now deal with it! And for the love of god go and look at the game tape now one tried to injury Nesbitt..a tackle hurts if applied correctly at least the last time I played the game..and that’s what happened he got tackled..and wait till next year and it will be 9-1

What is Most Incongruous about GA tek fans posting again about Florida are their posts about Paul Johnson as a name on the list to replace Urban Meyer at Florida.

Paul Johnson played 6 games against teams not even in a bowl game, and YET LOST MORE GAMES than Florida did playing only 4 teams who aren’t in a bowl game.

I mean how good is Paul Johnson, anyway ?

He recruits very poorly.

His offense has zero tight ends and at most 1 receiver on the whole entire roster.

A QB who in 35 games has only 13 TD passes to 11 interceptions and is the Number 115 Passing Offense in the NCAA this season, yet this is what they went to when they scrapped their high school offense and threw 4 plays in a row to lose to a 7-5 team playing in Shreveport, NE LA at a high school stadium (larger than Tech’s Grant Field Bobby Dodd Stadium.)

There are only 3 football players in all of America who have committed to come play on this high school offense of Paul Johnson.

3.

He fired Jon Tenuta to hire the linebackers’ coach at So Miss to come be his Defensive Coordinator.

With 6 games against teams not even in a bowl game, Paul Johnson’s “defense” is Number 57 against the Run, 54 Total Defense and 58 Scoring Defense.

And, his recruits are IDIOTS, not suited for the purpose for which they are intended as “student” – athletes.

Florida lost 1 game against # 1 Alabama. GA tek with Paul Johnson lost to UGA for God’s sake who LOST TO 5 OTHER TEAMS including Kentucky AND lost to Miami of Florida who otherwise beat no one, like UGA.

Soft schedule GA tek played.

It is, after all, all Paul Johnson has EVER COMPETED AGAINST.

GA tek fans think Florida wants their head football coach.

Now, that’s funny.

Go read the posts.

Right up there before now.

And, they keep saying it.

What is the 1 name NOT on Jeremy Foley’s list ?

Paul Johnson.

There is 1 area common to Florida under Urban Meyer and GA tek fans nowadays, and that is that they are crybabies when they lose.

I see Joe Cox as a young man with great character. And very good ability. Imagine his having a great defense. And the great offensive line that showed up for the last 2 games that paved the way for what could become a truly devastating running game. He has never complained nor has he shifted blame. He would have had a great freshman season. What if Eric Zeir (sp?) had had a great defense?

The Aggies will steam roll the dawgs 56 to 19 in front of all 400 UGA fans. How far can you fall? Preseason # 1 a year ago to a 6 loss team with only a hand full of fans at the bowl game. The INDEPENDENCE BOWL will never invite UGA again.

Hey hedgecutter, wake up to reality. The Acc is a weak conferance going way back. Look at the facts, before Miami, Fla. State, Virgina Tech, and Boston college joined the ACC they were strong programs. Since joining the ACC the talent level at those schools have dropped. Ya think it may have something to do with getting quality recruits?

Good grief ! Kentucky is awful. How does a team like this get into a bowl, even a nothing bowl. If this is representative of the SEC the conference should withdraw from the NCAA. Who did they lose to ? Clemson ? An ACC school ? Has the SEC ever reached such a low point ? Did UK beat anybody this year ? Surely, they didn’t beat UGA. Oh, say it ain’t so.
