A season’s high points, low points

bulldogMark Richt is still searching for a new defensive coordinator, the players have exams and I’m on vacation this week, but that’s no reason for the discussion of all things Georgia football to stop here.

I’ll get you started by asking what you think the high points and low points were in this disappointing season. I’m guessing the win at Tech tops many people’s lists of high points, but there are others: the emergence of a running game late in the season for one.

Low points? So many to choose from, but I’m stuck on picking which was worse: the domination by the Vols in Knoxville or the Dogs’ second-half collapse against Kentucky.

Anyway, comment away, but keep it clean and civil, please. And the Blawg will return next week.

Go Dogs!

High point: knocking that goofy grin off of Tech and shutting their pie hole for awhile.
Low point; The feeling i had before every game knowing we could lose vs. all the other Richt teams in the past knowing we had a chance to WIN every game we played.

Big time?? Not

High point,….the upset over Tech. Say that again ugag. You know it was your biggest win since you upset an injured Tebow and the Gators. There’s going to be plenty of chances to beat you,…right now,..we”re busy getting ready for the Orange Bowl. As for the ugag,….plenty of problems and issues,..just ask Rex Robinson.

What exit is Shreveport on? Too funny.

High Points

AJ Green, orsen charles, brandon boykin, branden smith, the emerging running game, beating Tech to damper there greatest legal season since 1990, firing 3/4 of the defensive staff.

Low points

losing to florida, tennessee, kentucky, lsu, and oklahoma state. watching our defense look inept, watching our offense sputter, UGA VII passing away.

Kinda optimistic for 2010 if we are a run first ball team that has an intelligent defensive coordinator. Go Dawgs! We Run This State!

LOW POINT: WATCHING BRANDEN SMITH FIELD MULTIPLE KICKOFFS 8 YARDS DEEP IN THE ENDZONE AND ATTEMPT TO RUN THEM OUT

HIGH POINT: WATCHING ALL THE AUBURN FANS LEAVE SANFORD STADIUM, NOT SPEAKING TO ONE ANOTHER, KNOWING THEY HAD A 2.5+ HOUR DRIVE BACK TO METRO OPELIKA, AL

FRESH ICING ON THE STALE CAKE: {{{{{30-24}}}}}

MOST ENTERTAINING MOMENT: STILL HAVING GEORGIA TECH FANS ON HERE EATING THEIR SOUR GRAPES.

WHO CARES WHAT HAPPENS ON DEC 28TH…… 2010 IS LOOKING GREAT!!

High Point the SEC again proving how inferior the ACC is by beating them 5 of 7 games and one of those losses was GT beating Vandy.

Low point was having a team with 11-1 caliber players go 7-5. Losses to LSU and Kentucky both of whom the Dawg’s should have beaten.

Bright Spot – The prospect of another 7 year win streak against GT.

Go Dawg’s Sic em woof woof woof.

Beating Tech is never a high point. It is expected. After all, they are nerds………………………..

High point-Watching Spurrier realize again that maybe he should have changed the way he treated people over the years as he watched his team go up in flames against the team he hates the most-UGA.

Low point-Realizing that 3 fine people were going to lose their jobs.

The high point was probably the Auburn win, with GT being a close second. The low point was Kentucky, continued problems with conditioning and penalties and the continued slide into second-tier status in both the SEC and National spotlight… I’m afraid to say that I don’t see it getting better anytime soon. We’ll be out of the pre-season top 25 almost certainly, don’t have an experienced QB and losing a good deal of our big guns on D. 2010’s schedule is favorable, but without the bye week before Florida and too many unknowns on both sides of the ball 2010 may not shape up any better than 2009.

Low points: Injuries to Sturdivant, Strickland, and Durham. Hope those guys get well. A bad personal foul call in the OK State game and the awful excessive celebration call on AJ in the LSU game. These 2 calls heavily influenced the outcomes of those 2 games that could have changed the entire season.

High points: Some veteran guys like Kade Weston came into their own. The Defensive ends kind of came around. The O-line came around. There is some stellar young talent that got some good experience. Charlie Strong left the SEC.

I don’t really get the criticism regarding conditioning. They seem to be in good shape. I mean I understand the comments about discipline because of the turnovers and penalties. I think there are some guys who don’t have that “every last breath” attitude, but they don’t seem like they are out of shape.

I think just being UGA every day is a low point. Our players are not as smart as some of the other teams we play. We get good recruits sometimes but we can’t coach them. UGA has never been anything to anyone even when Walker played in the 80s.

I think for any SEC team, that if you can beat an ACC team that should always be the highest point of the season (so UGA beating Tech should be the high point). Teams from the South Eastern Cupcakes just don’t have the overall quality of the ACC. The SEC only has 2 teams in it!!! If you took out Florida and Alabama what would you have left? Think about it. I would be more afraid of the Pioneer Conference.

High point- beating Tech and shutting them up. Watching them leave Bobby Dodd with that “how the hell did that happen?” look on their faces was priceless.

Low point- “celebration” call on AJ vs LSU. I have never been angrier or questioned the integrity of officials more than that moment. That was the point when the whole season turned right there.

The high point was beating Georgia Tech. Not so much the individual game. Beating Tech is a standard affair for Georgia. What was important about that win in particular was that it exposed the conceptual weeknesses in Johnson’s schemes on both sides of the ball. The Bulldogs domination of that rivalry should remain intact. There were a number of low points. But the let down against Kentucky showcased all that has been wrong with the Bulldogs the season and was probably what ultimatley cost Martinez and company their jobs. I trust now that he no longer has to protect and defend his good friend Coach Richt will make a good hire at Defensive Coordinator.

High Points: 1.) Wins vs.GT and Aub., 2.) Drew Butler, 3.) Blair Walsh, AJ Green, 4.) Rennie Curran, 5.) Brandon Boykin returning kicks 6.) Rambo’s performance 7.) Reshad Jones against GT 8.) Running Game in the 2nd half of the season 9.) Orson Charles

Low Points: 1.) Sturdivant’s injury 2.) Undisciplined, sloppy play/stupid penalties (this team definitely wasn’t good enough to overcome these mistakes Like an FSU or Miami team from the 90s), 3.) Overall play of defense throughout the year with the exception of Auburn and GT games 4.) Performance of Offensive Line in 1st half of season, 5.) 2nd half meltdown against Ky, 6.) Turnovers, 7.) Termination of 3 coaches

never is winning the game over a bunch of f(l)agboys a high point , especially when coach by a guy that coached at Ga. southwestern…that said the high point is we got through a grueling schedule , 8 games in a row against mostly bowl eligible schools and finished the season with a winning record even after the loss of 3 bona fide nfl stars to the draft ..the future is bright with tebow and spikes gone from Florida, a bunch of returners on offense and defense in Athens, and kiffins Hostess Cupcakes coming to athens in 2010..schedule in 2010 looks alot more suitable ….and if we were to lose a bunch of games next year we are still blessed to have Tech on the schedule just after thanksgiving..so we do have alot to be thankful for
