I’m a bit under the weather today and so won’t be blogging, but feel free to keep discussing the Dogs here. Congratulations to Drew Butler on being named the nation’s best punter in his first year as the starter. Go Dogs!

We have some friends here in SW GA who are UF fans. Tebow is their eight year old son’s hero. In much the same way, I grew up a dawg fan in Central Florida because my dad had gone to school there (in fact there was someone at UGA in my family from 1936-1986 and a few since) and Herschel Walker was my hero. Anyway, this kid was wearing a UF belt buckle one day around the time that Tebow got a concussion in the Kentucky game. A grown woman, who happened to be a nurse, points at the kid and starts taunting him, going on and on saying things like, “I guess your Tebow isn’t Superman afterall.” This was related to me at a Christmas party yesterday.

Now I know that I am setting myself up here, and this will most likely be disregarded, or some will rip it apart without even reading the whole thing. But, I was reading some of the posts and vents from UF and Alabama fans, and it dawned on me that many of the Bulldog nation are spiteful, vengeful, jealous, and mean spirited. (Count me among you as I have been razzing my Florida friends about Tebow’s tears and such.) In the case of a grown and educated woman crapping on a little kid’s hero, I would add stupid, thoughtless, and inconsiderate.

I just want to point out that none of these things are part of a winning attitude, and keeping it up will only contribute to failure. Now some of you will get this. As for the rest of you, go ahead and tell me what an idiot I am, but know in your hearts that I am speaking the truth. You want to have a good team? You want to win an NC? Respect people, reward sportsmanship, and support your team with positive thoughts and actions.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I continue to be amazed by some of the pre-pubescent rantings of GT people like “Jealous Puppies.”
Over the last 15 years or so Georgia Tech HAS DONE NEXT TO NOTHING. they play in an league that couldn’t hire people to watch their championship game last Saturday night.

IF TIGER WOODS WAS GEORGIA TECH– HE COULDN’T GET LAID!

I hope I see the day when UGA, GA. Tech, Ga. Southern, Ga. State and Kennesaw ST. are all very competitive and give the high school football players of Ga. and surrounding States just that many more opportunities to continue their dreams. I also have been impressed with the Shorter program and the job they have done there.

FSU has hired DC from Arizona. CMR wasn’t looking at him, so one obstacle cleared.

By the way Techies – IF, IF, IF. If Reshad had tackled Roddy Jones last year instead of throwing him a shoulder, you would have lost THAT game. Quit your whining. You got beat, beat EIGHT OUT OF NINE years. So shut the F up!

Today’s Dawgs
- It’s no longer about the season’s body of work, it’s only about an in state game.
- It’s no longer about a conference title, it’s about hopefully winning more games vs. the losses.
- It’s no longer about a BCS bowl game, it’s about just getting a bowl game.

So based on UGA’s new set of sub standards, you just had a GREAT year! Enjoy Shreveport I hear it’s wonderful this time of year!

Hey Dawghater – UGA has a target on their back every week. Many teams would rather beat UGA than anybody except for maybe their big rival. You know why? Because if you beat the Dawgs it carries alot of weight. That is respect my friend whether you want to admit it or not. No matter what our record is a win over us carries alot of weight because of all the traditon and history.

it is obvious georgia will not be reporting anything news worthy until after the national championship game and that will upset everyone including far left so-called newspaper here in the atl.
kirby needs to make a name for himself and that will never happen with nick saban.

the dawg defense will be back with 8 returning players and yes four- five very good defensive tackles to go along with
an abundance of other defensive ends.

it is amazing how so many people have attack our coach who has the best record ever in georgia football history for the same time frame and that includes coaches (dooley, butts or mehre).
georgia has won two SEC championships during his tenure and finish second in the nation and we have so called fans asking for our coach’s head including of all things; a field goal kicker ripping this program with all coach richt has done since he arrived on the scene.

yes, it was pretty bad when he arrived with drug sales running rapid among certain players, and 20 years since the dawgs had won an SEC chamionship.
yes, it was a long dry period since dooley brought much glory to our beloved school, but now is the time for all true dawg fans need to rally and support this program and it’s coach who has had HUGE success for our school.

we just need a little patience and it will come back!

Look folks, we lost five games so we are who we are…a 7-5 SEC team that finished behind Fla, Tenn and KY in the East. But, we are in a bowl game, playing a team that will bring a lot of fans and a lot of fun (plus I’d rather hear the A&M war cry – or whatever they call it – than some fat guys doing their version of a couple of hogs fightin’, which is what we were subjected to in ‘91), in a town that’s a lot of fun (not so big that you gotta run ’serpentine’ between the hotel and the places to see and do and eat.). Shreveport’s got casinos (who besides the Las Vegas Bowl can say that?) and horse racing…tons of restaurants (more cajun and creole than Atlanta’s got BBQ joints or Miami’s got stone crabs)…it’s easier and cheaper to get to and to stay in…and gets to show us Dawgs just what ‘Laissez les bon temps rouler’ is all about without the New Orleans’ prices.

Just wish they would resurrect ‘The Louisiana Hayride’…now that would put it over the top. Shoot, they could just bring George Jones in, prop him up and let him rip and it would be good enough for me. And, in case you didn’t notice it, it – the bowl game – gives us another few weeks of practice to get better at stuff.

We’ll have a DC, but probably not until after the NC game. You see, I believe that ‘for the right price’ Kirby Smart will indeed ‘do the smart thing’ and take an attractive offer from us and set himself up for whenever Mark Richt decides that he wants to go do something else – or the same thing somewhere else. I’m not in support of CMR leaving us anytime soon, but it sure would be nice if Kirby were to be ‘in the wings’ if, and when, it happens. Just sayin’.

huff, Coach Richt rarely tells the blogs his intentions, sorry.

For the record, I am one that does not think K Smart has much to gain to make a move right now, and if he did It would be a very short stay. So I don’t think he is going to be the new DC. I think its going to be some young up and comer that most folks are going to have to google when they hear the name. BUT if he were to be the hire, there is absolutely NO way that already hasn’t been done. NO way we are going to wait till the middle of January and not have somebody solid lined up, scrambling a few weeks before signing day.

Is any UGA fan out there that knows when Kirby Smart was under CMR for one year, Richt had him coaching RUNNING BACKS!!! Yes, running backs and now he has Bryan McClendon coaching backs. McClendon was a receiver and in fact, his dad Willie McClendon ( mid 70s ) was far superior at running back than was Bryan MC at receiver. Oh well.

Does Richt have a clue??

“Fat and stupid” are the out of work truck drivers on this blog that claim to be a so and so university fan and they NEVER,EVER attended any school, JC or any college. THIS SITE is their vengeance directed toward REAL UGA, TECH or Auburn or Bama or UT or Florida GRADS, they think. They cannot stand to know that folks attend their alma mater’s games and have so much fun, WIN OR LOSE. They cannot stand that and so they bad mouth so and so school. Punks. Alumni do not take it that seriously ……….as they have rich and full business lives.

Truth,
If the running backs coaching job was so bad, then why did Smart take the job? Why didn’t he stay with Saban? Me thinks he wanted to take willie’s job eventually, but things didn’t go the way he thought so he left again. You can’t blame Richt for that one. Heck, he could have been sent to Saban by Richt to learn more defense. See my previous post.

The whole point of the Bowl Consensus System putting Boise St. against TCU in the Fiesta Bowl was to eliminate the possiblity of *two* non-BCS teams being undefeated and claiming/being ranked #1 by somebody after the bowls. That would have been very embarrassing to the BCS dons and caporegimes.

I think professional football coaches rely more on well established drills and methods to coach particular positions, and don’t really stand around saying “this is how I used to do it” all day. Maybe Richt, who probabaly has a “clue” doesn’t think that you can only ever coach your former position.

I have questioned McClendon being qualified at this level, although nothing to do with his college position (I’m sure he was a RB somewhere along the line since peewee), just his experience in general. SOGa88 just answered that for me though. The recruit angle him makes perfect sense.

I think Searles was promoted as “running game Co-ordinator” to help him out as well.

Hope you get well soon Bill. Just getting a new DC ought to help — I think that side of the ball was in serious need of some fresh eyes and fresh ideas. Letting Martinez go takes a huge monkey off CMR’s back and removes a huge distraction that he’s had to deal with for sometime now. I also wonder if CMR had taken too much of a hands off approach when he gave up playcalling. Hiring some competent defensive coaches and new special teams approach should improve things pretty quickly. This team has a lot of talent and a lot of potential playmakers. This is not like trying to rebuild a horrible team. A couple of fixes and these Dawgs will be tough again. I believe CMR will make the right moves.

Well, two things.

1) You UGA fans acting like Tech fans : holding on to one in-state game. Your own HC ranked GT higher than Dawgs.

2) Tech fans, UGA is having a typical Tech-like year before CPJ got here, and they are acting like it’s end of the world. That just shows the difference of these two programs.

Let’s just take care of our respective bowl games.

We don’t need to let ESPN determine the Natl Championship again, like Herbstreet did when LSU jumped from #8 to #1.

We don’t need to let the ref’s throwing 12 flags a game effect the outcome.

We need to win every game by so many points, that the refs, and the ESPN BIASED ANTI-GEORGIA BIASED REPORTERS have absolutely ZERO EFFECT.

WIN EVERY GAME BY 40 POINTS……

We need some of that MIAMI and FSU SWAGGER that RICHT was a part of back in the day.
