Keep talking Dogs

I’m a bit under the weather today and so won’t be blogging, but feel free to keep discussing the Dogs here. Congratulations to Drew Butler on being named the nation’s best punter in his first year as the starter. Go Dogs!

Shane, something is very intriguing, as the announcement take longer and longer. Its really not the custom to wait till after the bowls to announce hirings is it?. It seems like a lot of coaches know they are going someplace else by then. I dont know, maybe thats mostly HC changes. Still I can’t really see a “done deal” just sitting for another few weeks, because of a relatively meaningless bowl game in the big picture. Recruiting is way more critical than that. I would think the new boss and the old boss (who has to hire somebody else now) would want to address possible staff changes ASAP. Unless that bowl game is very very important?

Iowa’s offense kept opponents in the game. Their only games over 30 points were Iowa State (35-3) and Indiana (45-24). Northern Iowa was a 17-16 win, and Arkansas State was 27-24. Those teams played them as well as Big-10 opponents, except for Indiana and Minnesota (12-0 game). Overall they averaged scoring 23.1 ppg. They scored 10 in the loss to Northwestern.

I watched 2 of their games, plus part of a 3rd, and they were thrillers. Should be an interesting matchup vs. Ga. Tech.

Hey fellow Dawg fans, give them some credit. Those Tech nerds have come a lot way. They used to have slide rules hanging from their belts and wear bennie caps. A lot of them probably can’t find Miami on a map even wtih a laptop computer in the back pack.

No doubt, Dawgs stunk it up this year. However, IN THE STATE OF GEORGIA,
it was Dawgs 30–Jackets 24. 30>>24. We won, you lost. Yeah, you are
going to the Orange Bowl but you still lost to the Dawgs. Yeah you’re
11-2 but one of those 2 was to the Dawgs. We won, you lost so suck

The Dawgs and the Yellow Jackets have to date met 96 times on the football field, with the Bulldogs leading the 108-year-old series, 60-39-5. In 2002, Georgia hosted Georgia Tech and boasted its largest margin of victory in the series, 44 points. During the rivalry, Georgia has compiled a winning record in 8 of the 11 decades, including the past four decades.
8 wins in the last 9 games.
20 wins in the last 29 games.

If you take away the UGA-GT game, it is obvious that GT had the outstanding season compared to UGA’s pitiful year. You lost to Kentucky and Ten, 2 teams you should be embarrased that beat you. If you had won those 2 games you would be going to a respectable Bowl game. While you are freezing in Shreveport in December at a no-name bowl game, Tech fans will be having a great time in sunny Miami at a BCS Bowl game in January. UGA fans have one game this season to brag about, Tech fans have a whole season to brag about and more celebrating to do!

Altamahadawg,

“Gordon, so as you see it, if you were the head coach, you would have fired your defensive staff after winning 10 games playing third stringers, a year after finishing #2 in the country? Seriously.”

I meant my comment more as something in retrospect. My point was the timing is not the best to be looking for a defensive coordinator. And I seem to remember a whole lot of UGA fans wanting Martinez’ head after 2008. There were 5 or 6 game where the defense gave up 30 plus points. But I’ll admit hindsight is 20/20. I think Tech is facing the same problem with Wommack. I hope CPJ doesn’t take as long to pull the trigger if things don’t improve. UGA played their best game of the year by far against us, but there wasn’t any adjustment. We overpursued all night. It’s amazing we had a chance at the end.

Even with the season we Dawg fans endured, the future looks gleaming. Two true freshmen named all SEC (excluding Washaun’s snub), beleaguered DC dismissed, AJ Green, Two top QB’s in their states, respectively, when recruited………etc. etc

Oh, the 30-24 outcome helps too.

It’s great to be a Georgia Bulldog!

Are Tech fans really saying that Dawg fans are obsessed with GT?? Yall freaking made rings with the score of UGA-GT game last year on them, and we’re the obsessed ones? Yeah ok. And please don’t call us losers when you guys were completely outplayed by a 6-5 team. Have fun with Iowa. A whole month is plenty of time for a defense to prepare for the option. Just ask LSU.

This article is titled Deja Wrong:

Alabama fans, you’re welcome. I’ve been wrong on so many picks this year, it ain’t even funny. So, why should the SEC Championship be any different? I still can’t believe the way UF got manhandled, but who cares? Bowl season will soon be upon us. At this point, it ain’t exactly breaking news, but Saban’s Tide will face off against Colt McCoy and the Texas Longhorns to decide a National Champion.

Well, what happens if a Brian Kelly-less Bearcats squad gets dismantled by Tebow and the eye gougers from Gainesville? Does the Fiesta Bowl winner stake claim to one half of the National Championship? Based on their rankings (#4 TCU and #6 Boise State), I’d guess that the undefeated Horned Frogs would have the strongest argument. But, TCU would need to route the loss-less Broncos, in order to breed such a discussion.

If this scenario unfolds, it may add some fodder to the “we need a playoff system” debate, but let’s be honest. There will be no split National Championship like we saw in 1990, when G Tech and Colorado both claimed the title. Why? Because 1 program will be crowned king of college football and it will be the winner of the Rose Bowl. Tide fans, you outta be concerned. I’m picking ya’ll to beat Texas by 10.

Where will the national champion be crowned? Click on the link:

I continue to be amazed at all the time both Tech and Georgia people spend attacking each other. It is, IMO, a total waste of time.

As a Georgia fan, I’m more concerned about Richt having another year to further wreck the program. He is an incompetent and delusional. He’s presided over the rise and fall of the DAWGS.

I read the drivel in the paper about the “difficult” decision Richt had to make concerning the keeping or firing of his friend Coach Martinez. I understand the friendship part but the coaching part leaves me gasping for air. He should have been fired at the end of last season. Instead he was allowed to continue another year. In fact, had it been my call, I would have fired everyone beginning with head coach Mark Richt.

It seems problematic to me that anyone seriously expects that Richt can right the ship that he, himself, has torpedoed. That scene at the end of the Tech game where he appeared to be furious is another in the series of delusional actions by our head coach. I’ve watched or attended every game and I find his facial blankness distressing when I watch a tackle out-of-bounds and a fifteen yarder imposed thereafter. I would be downright furious because this goes on and on and on DESPITE Coach Richt’s assurances that he would fix the penalties. If what happened this year is what he considers “fixed”, well just chalk it up to delusion.

No, I do not think he can right the ship. That ship has sailed and is plowing through the harbor on its way to the ocean with all hands on board.

Coach Richt’s absolute lack of personnel management skills has created two losing seasons out of one, this one and the next. We don’t have a QB who has taken a snap in real time. Couldn’t he see that Joe Cox wasn’t up to SEC caliber play? That takes nothing away from the fact that Joe surely appeared to give it his best and he was a valiant warrior. But he was a middling SEC QB and that’s being generous.

When it was clear that Joe had no shot at leading us to an Eastern Division championship, why didn’t he decide then and there that the seson was lost and that we needed to get ready for next season.

Sic gloria transit, Coach Richt.

I am also an old dude that understands that coaching is not always as clear as your black and white philosophy.I can also recognize a rather pathetic young man who is terribly frustrated with his team because they are not winning 10 games 10 years in a row.Relax young man ,take a look around the country, now take a deep breath, you might just realize if you are a UGA fan you might just have it far better than your narrow perception tells you.

You think we go on the Kentucky boards braggin’ that we have a better record than they do? heck no. they beat us on the field so they have bragging rights. Just like you guys did all year long after you beat us, LAST YEAR!
You guys ought to be wondering why cpj isn’t replacing his DC. What’s up with that? At least Richt got rid of his long time friend and dead weight. Tenuta is available now, you guys ought to pick him back up. I think anybody would be an improvement over Wommack. Everybody has the gameplan (why the acc teams couldn’t figure that out after the miami game says a lot) for beating you guys, just beat you at your own game. Too bad Clemson’s OC waited too long to figure out what to do.

Janzen Jackson 2 times this season was suspended for multiple games with drugs involved.

The 1st suspension was the Memphis game the 1st week of November, when Janzen Jackson failed a drug test.

The 2nd suspension was just 2 weeks later when he exclaimed to 2 felony armed robbers he was in the getaway car with with drugs and CO2 powered semi-automatic pellet gun, “We’ve got to go.”

Both times drugs were involved.

Both times drug tests were run.

“We hold our student-athletes to an extremely high standard on and off the field. Janzen has seen the effect personal decisions had on his former teammates and is excited to rejoin our team activities.”

Of course, it had nothing to do with the fact that the other 2, he didn’t say shouldn’t be robbing people at gunpoint, just that they had to go now, but those 2 vols’ football players were not doing well this their true freshman season too.

Janzen Jackson had the 2 felony armed robbery vols’ football players and the woman with the drugs for all 4 to do, get back into the Prius and go back to the athletic dorm where they all 4 were arrested on multiple charges including drugs.

Yes, indeed Lame Kitten, those are an “extremely high standard” you hold Janzen Jackson to.

Never mind the other 2 were doing very poorly and Janzen Jackson All-Freshman All-SEC selection at DB for defense that was not doing well with Lame Kitten’s father as Defensive Coordinator.

8 NCAA recruiting infractions later, now Ed Orgeron is rumored to be leaving. Ed has a checkered past himself, and Lame Kitten was at Southern California during the recruitment of Reggie Bush, part of an NCAA Investigation still on-going with a million dollar mansion provided to Reggie Bush’s family.

vols’ are ranked Number 42 in the Final BCS Rankings for 2009.

7-5 against a Strength of Schedule the NCAA says is the Number 52 SoS, 1 worse than even Georgia Tech – who played 6 games against teams not even in a bowl game.

vols beat no team ranked in the Final BCS Top 25 rankings this entire season. In fact, the

vols’ wins this season are over :

BCS Number 120 Western Kentucky.

BCS Number 62 Ohio.

BCS Number 40 South Carolina.

BCS Number 49 Kentucky.

BCS Number 29 Georgia.

BCS Number 98 Vanderbilt.

BCS Number 112 Memphis.

Did I mention the vols LOST to 7-5 Number 38 Auburn.

Did I mention the vols LOST to Number 31 Ole Miss.

Did I mention the vols’ LOST to 6-6 Number 53 UCLA.

“Extremely High Standard on and off the field” according to Lame Kitten. What about the 2 suspensions both times involving failed drug tests for Janzen Jackson ? I am supposed to forget about that ? Good try. It’s in there for the duration.

I love me some GT, but Georgia beat us plain and simple. They were the better team this year. I’m thrilled to be able to spend my first weekend in January in Miami getting ready to watch the Jackets in the Orange Bowl, but as far as in state trash talking goes, we have no voice for at least a year. You guys need to understand (as in the other Techies on this board) that you talk trash when you win. Period. I tip my hat to UGA for beating as at our own game. I hate the Dawgs, and I hope they get whooped in Shreveport, but keep your mouths shut when we lose. UGA is unfortunately the state champs again. It’s getting old, but those are the facts.
