Bulldog Bites: Bowl tickets on sale Sunday night

Will the Dogs go bowling in Atlanta or Shreveport? (UGA Sports Communications)

Will the Dogs go bowling in Atlanta or Shreveport? (UGA Sports Communications)

Atlanta? Shreveport? We’ll find out Sunday evening.

I’m hoping for the Chick-fil-A Bowl but recognize there were times this season when the Dogs looked like they’d be lucky to make it to the Independence Bowl.

I noticed the other day when I wrote about how Shreveport is not a popular destination among SEC teams, some defender of the Louisiana city took umbrage in the comments. Hey, I’ve got nothing against Shreveport itself. But its bowl, in its last year of a tie-in with the SEC, doesn’t generate much buzz. Though whenever I hear the Independence Bowl mentioned, I think of a time back in the 1990s when I was at a UGA baseball game and a guy sitting behind me, who did a dead-on impression of Ray Goff, kept drawling, “Dadburnit, Vince, I like Shreveport!”

Anyway, whichever bowl the Dogs get, the athletic association has announced that tickets will be available to the general public beginning at 8 p.m. Sunday online via the ticket office Web site. Fans also can order bowl tickets by calling 1-877-542-1231 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. All ticket requests will be filled in the order in which they are received, subject to availability.

All Hartman Fund donors will receive the number of tickets to the bowl they requested during the pre-order process and also will receive priority on ticket assignments based on their cumulative donation score, the athletic association says.

The Dogs will be making their 45th bowl game appearance. Georgia currently has a 25-16-3 bowl record. This will be the Bulldogs’ ninth straight bowl appearance under Mark Richt.

SUPPORT BUTLER

All-American Drew Butler, who leads the nation in punting, is considered the leading candidate for the Ray Guy Award, given annually to the nation’s top punter. The winner will be announced on ESPN’s College Football Awards, televised starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday. ESPN is conducting a straw poll online as to who should win the award. To show your support for Butler, go here and vote.

GEORGA VS. GEORGIA TECH AGAIN

The Lady Bulldogs take on Tech’s women’s basketball team at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens in a game that will be televised regionally on CSS and carried on radio in Athens via AM 960 The Ref. The game will be the first of a school-record 14 regular-season TV appearances for the Lady Dogs this season.

Georgia, ranked No. 13 in the AP poll and No. 16 in the ESPN/USA Today poll, is 7-0 so far this season, while Tech, ranked 23rd in the AP poll, is 5-1. This will be the first time both teams have entered their matchup ranked in the AP poll.

Georgia leads the series 28-3, including an 11-0 mark at Stegeman Coliseum. Tech won 57-42 last year in Atlanta.

Go Dogs!

The Doggies are not playing in the Chik-fil-a Bowl. That game has already been decided. UT vs. VT. UT beat the krapp out of UGA so there is no way Chik-fil-a passes on UT. Well, me and the missus were talking about a trip to Florida just the other day. It’s a pretty long drive but warm. So when I seen the headline of this item I figured it would be a pretty good time, being the holidays and all. Give me a minute to read the whole article . . .

Shrevesport? As in the armpit of Louisiana? Somebody must be funning me. This is Georgia we’re talking about, not Texas Southern or some other podunk team. There’s got to be some mistake here. We always go to New Orleans or if not there Tampa or Orlando.

Anyhow, forget about that trip for now. I’ll just wait till the Junkyard Blawg gets it right. Then I’ll decide.

what’s the deal on chick-fil-a ?
i understood it to basically be a done deal for
UT and VATECH.

but, if CLEMSON loses, maybe they dont want
a rematch of them and UT of a few years ago.

whoever said UT deserves it b/c they gave us a

have a better sec record than AUBURN.

You mention Georgia owning the series 28-3 but as a Georgia fan I have been disheartened many of the last few years. Why not also add that the Tech women have beaten the Georgia women like 3 of the last 5 (I think) but it could have been 3 of the last 4. Considering we are almost always a top 10 womens program my hats off to the Tech coach that has actually done a tremendous job at a largely male school due to its engineering background. The LadyDawgs had best show up with their A game! This game would have been very interesting if Techs top rebounder and 2nd leading scorer had not gotten herself injured but they still have some decent weapons. Let’s get a 2for by adding to our football prowess.

SPECIAL REPORT!!!

We interrupt your regularly scheduled program to bring you this special news alert! Here is FOX News anchor Simon Poindexter.

Simon: Ladies and Gentlemen we continue to cover the bizarre story of Coach Paul Johnson of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team. This story has had many really creepy twists over the last six days.

We now join our correspondent Buzz Nutley at the scene.

Buzz Nutley: Thanks Simon. We are here at the athletics offices of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets football team. We’ve been here since early this morning after reports surfaced that Coach Paul Johnson spent the night in his office curled up in a fetal position and sucking his thumb.

We have been trying to get a word with Coach Johnson to find out why he is still here when the football team has already left for Tampa and Saturday’s ACC Championship game.

Recent events and outbursts have led some to believe that Coach Johnson might be suffering from a nervous breakdown. We are here trying to dispel those rumors. So far, with no luck Simon.

Simon: Buzz, could you tell our viewers…has there been any sign of Coach Johnson so far?

Buzz Nutley: Simon, we’ve been camped out here since about 7:00 this morning and Coach Johnson has not left his office, although he has had a few visitors that we have had a chance to talk with.

This morning a kid wearing a Mr. Spock t-shirt, who identified himself as an assistant to the assistant uniform washer, took in two dozen Krispy Kreme plain glazed doughnuts. We thought we heard some growling from inside the office and when Mr. Spock came back out he was minus a point on one ear and refused comment. We were not able to see or talk to Coach Johnson.

Later in the afternoon Pizza Hut delivered three large onion, sausage, pepperoni, ham, bacon, and anchovies pizzas with extra garlic butter. This time we definitely heard Coach Johnson shout “Are you f***ing stupid?”

The pizza delivery guy quickly exited and appeared to be quite shaken.
We managed to catch up with him and asked him what had happened.

He related to us that when he entered the office he could smell the fear and tension. Coach Johnson was drawing up triple option plays on his walls with different colored crayons, red crayons for defense and yellow crayons for the offense. I asked if he could remember what coach was saying. Not much he admitted. “….As soon as he yelled at me my fight or flight instincts kicked in….and everything was happening so fast….one thing though,” he did say, “Coach Johnson said if CJ Spiller breaks one Saturday he might just pull a Woody Hayes on him,” adding, “he threatened to punch me in the face if I asked for a tip and he took my lunch money!”.

Simon: Buzz, I wonder if….

Buzz Nutley: Excuse me Simon, but I think I see Georgia Tech’s athletics director Dan Radakovich approaching! ……Sir…Mr. Radakovich….could you answer a couple of questions?

Dan Radakovich: Briefly, I am in kind of a hurry.

Buzz Nutley: Sir, could you confirm or deny that Coach Johnson is suffering from a nervous breakdown?

Dan Radakovich: I can adamantly put those rumors to rest. Coach Johnson is dealing with personal issues right now but all those charges have been dropped, except for the neighbor who’s kid got punched in the face for walking on his lawn and a couple of Santas he allegedly roughed up this past Saturday night who took out restraining orders.

But no matter what happens I want the Yellow Jacket Nation to rest assured that we feel extremely confident in temporary Head Coach Dave Wommack’s ablility to lead our team to victory.

Buzz Nutley: Could you tell us Mr. Radakovich, why Coach Johnson is still here instead of in Tampa with the team.

Dan Radakovich: Coach Johnson felt he needed to stay behind and break down last week’s game film again to see what went wrong….(lowers voice)… He also has expressed some revelations about flying… But our School of Aeronautical and Space Age Stuff Engineering is working on an alternative plan to get him there. Excuse me.

Buzz Nutley: Georgia Tech’s athletics director Dan Radakovich is now entering Coach Johnson’s office. I guess that’s it from here Simon……………….Wait!……..Just a second Simon……

(Sounds of glass breaking, voices shouting, and someone screaming like a girl.)

Simon: Buzz….what’s happening?

Buzz Nutley: Just a moment Simon……….. I think someone is coming out!

(Georgia Tech’s athletics director Dan Radakovich exits Coach Johnson’s office sporting a big brand new shiner and a trickle of blood from the left corner of his lip.)

Sir……Sir…..Oh My God…..Could you tell us…..Sir…..Could you tell us what happened to your face?

Dan Radakovich: I….I…ran into a door! No more comments!!!!

Buzz Nutley: Unsubstantiated rumors indicate that Nurse Ratchit from the Grady Memorial Hospital’s psychiatric unit has been sent for……Well Simon, that’s all we know for now….but we’re going to stick around for now should the situation change.

Simon: Thanks Buzz for that exciting report. We’ll be back after these messages.

I don’t blame the three coaches for not coaching in the bowl game. Let the big boosters and all the bashers coach the defense. Let Mark Bradley, Jeff Schultz and maybe Terrence Moore coach them up. It’s not a lack of character that they are not coaching in the bowl game. If I were in there shoes I would tell them to kiss my ass. A lack of overall discipline was the reason for a 7 and 5 year.

Texas A&M Starting Quarterback is 10-12 as a Starter in his career. Jerrod Johnson was redshirted his freshman year. Then,, in his sophomore year, he did not start the 1st game, and Texas A&M was beat by Arkansas State. At this point, he became the starter, as Texas A&M ended not in a bowl last year, either, at 4-7.

This year, Jerrod Johnson’s Junior year, Texas A&M has 1 of the nation’s top 6 Offenses in the nation with a trio of running backs including Jerrod Johnson and a prolific passing offense.

This is not a good match-up for our secondary, apparently still coached by Willie Martinez.

Texas A&M has 1 of the worst special teams in the nation.

Texas A&M also has the worst defense in the nation at NCAA Rank Number 107 Total Defense and NCAA Rank 105 Scoring Defense.

+/- Over/Under on this game will be 100 points.

Texas A&M is Number 87 SoS at 57 wins by their opponents and 66 losses. My God, their Strength of Schedule is worse than Georgia Tech, if that is possible. Texas A&M’s SoS is better than Duke, Boise State, and BYU.

This will hurt UGA’s SoS at NCAA Rank Number 6 right now, our opponents are 67-45.

57-66 Texas A&M opponents. SoS # 87.

67-45 UGA opponents. SoS # 6.

vols’ SoS is Number 44.

Georgia Tech’s SoS is Number 49.

Outback Bowl is a rogue bowl. Something must be done with the Outback, every year now, picking 1st in The SEC.

As the Number 29 team in the BCS Rankings, and Number 17 in the Jeff Sagarin BCS Poll, Number 21 Kenneth Massey BCS Poll and as the Number 24 Anderson-Hester Seattle Times’ Poll, The University of Georgia deserved the 3rd best SEC Bowl Game. Our SoS at Number 6 in the nation is better than all the other SEC teams except for Arkansas whom we beat.

BCS # 29 UGA.

BCS # 30 Arkansas.

BCS # 32 Ole Miss.

BCS # 35 South Carolina.

BCS # 44 vols.

BCS # 48 Auburn.

BCS # 51 Kentucky.

And, Auburn gets the 1st SEC pick ?

B.S.

Also, that is not good for The SEC.

The SEC is going to lose bowl games this year, because the match-ups are all wrong.

Totally wrong for The SEC.

This bowl season will be very bad for The SEC, compared to last year for example, when the bowls were legitimate picks pitting SEC top teams against other conference top teams, who played no one. And, pitting the bottom picks of The SEC against the bottom picks of other conferences, who played no one.

Auburn’s NCAA Strength of Schedule is not even in the Top 25.

We beat Auburn.

Auburn is not in the Top 25 of any poll. UGA is in the Top 25 of 3 Polls before we play our bowl game, with an outside slim chance now playing Texas A&M at 6-6 against a weak SoS in the seriously down Big XII Conference, for UGA to continue the longest streak in the nation of being Ranked in the Final AP Poll now every year starting 1997.

We needed to play a Wisconsin and beat them, or a Virginia Tech and beat them, both of whom UGA would have beat.

This is the other part of the B.S. BCS.

1st please note that the BCS Public Relations’ Director states that the BCS is the best possible arrangement to assure that # 1 and # 2 play each other.

Excuse me, there are 120 teams.

34 Bowl Games.

BCS does nothing else but pit # 1 and # 2.

Postseason Football Licensing Subcommittee.

Postseason Football Licensing Subcommittee determines who will play in what bowl if there is a breakdown in the bowl’s selecting on their own.

I would say that UGA should appeal to The Postseason Football Licensing Subcommittee today, before the bowl bids are Official tomorrow.

We’d have a better bowl game if they just simply put all the bowls in one hat and all the teams in another hat, and drew a name from the bowls’ hat and 2 from the teams’ hat.

Tony Barnhart, what did you do to your hair, son ?

God, that look’s horrible. Like a Toupee that doesn’t match.

Color your Hair Tony Barnhart ?

Very disappointed in Coach Richt agreeing with the idiots on the Internet that the only issue UGA has is with our Defense.

B.S.

54 UGA Rushing Offense Rank # 54.

23 Texas A&M Rushing Offense Rank # 23.

79 UGA Passing Offense # 79.

21 Texas A&M Passing Offense # 21.

72 UGA Total Offense # 72.

6 Texas A&M Total Offense # 6.

58 UGA Scoring Offense # 58.

15 Texas A&M Scoring Offense # 15.

119 UGA Turnover Margin # 119.

67 Texas A&M Turnover Margin # 67.

47 UGA Passing Efficiency on Offense # 47.

33 Texas A&M Passing Efficiency on Offense # 33.

199 UGA Joe Cox Total Offense yards per game 199.

306 Texas A&M Jerrod Johnson Total Offense yards per game 306.

This is no different for UGA on OFFENSE this year than it was last year. UGA was Turnover Margin Number 73 Last Season with Matthew Stafford. UGA was Rushing Offense Number 56 Last Season with Knowshon Moreno.

For God’s Sake.

The Year before Last, UGA was Number 83 in the nation in Passing Offense with Matthew Stafford. We were Number 74 in Total Offense with Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno.

Can we please be REALISTIC ?

OFFENSE, UGA’s Offense sucks.

It out OUT-OF-DATE.

It is horrible.

Our Offensive Play-Calling SUCKS.

OFFENSE.

Why does UGA have a Losing Record of 17-20 against Final AP Poll Top 25 teams in the Coach Richt NON OFFENSE ERA ? Why does Coach Richt have 6 LOSSES against teams NOT EVEN IN THE FINAL AP POLL TOP 25 ?

Duh.

We go out there and stink up the field not knowing what play to call, dimwit. You cannot be a top tier college team with 24 games in the 5 Years averaging 14 points.

14 points UGA has averaged over the last 5 years in 24 different games.

14 points 24 games over the last 5 years. That’s our Average on Offense.

Who are you going to hire as Defensive Coordinator to overcome that 24 games over last years ?

Paul Brown, Erk Russell, Mike Smith, Chuck Noll, George Halas, Don Shula, Vince Lombardi ?

The latest scoop on the UGA search for a defensive coordinator. Richt did make a call to Van Gorder and as expected he declined. Now the #1 target is going to be Kirby Smart. Sources say he will go hard after Smart and if that doesn’t work out here is a list of potential candidates Georgia will talk with. Vic Koenning DC Kansas st., Reggie Herring (linebackers coach dallas cowboys), Tyrone Nix Ole Miss DC, Manny Diaz MTSU DC, Ellis Johnson ( assistant head coach clemson), Kevin Steele Clemson DC. What do you guys think about these candidates?

Hey Jason – I don’t know anything about UGA football. I know more than you will ever know. I agree a change had to be made and I love Coach Richt. But anybody knows that if the Dawgs had of had the same business like attitude they had against Tech this year things would have been different. Why all of a sudden do say nobody smiles on the sidelines until the final horn. I’ve watched the dancing, smiling and clowning around on the sidelines for 2 and half year when games were not nearly decided. I think Coach Richt just tried too hard to be a players’ coach. His first year he made Tony Gilbert cut his hair and told him he better not see it out from his helmet. This may be a little thing but it carries alot of weight. Don’t question my knowledge of UGA football unless you know your facts Jason.

The voice of truth and reality has returned. Petty is the new word to study class. Yes, the vast majority of GT fans search for petty excuses. You can make all the excuses you want but the results are in. UGA defeated GT. We defeated your highly ranked team in your own stadium. The vast majority of the excuses have little to no validity. Our best player did not play in the game. The lucky excuse is self-indulgent at best. I heard one delusional fan saying they would win 8 out of 10 games. I will win the lottery if I had the winning numbers too. The reality is that the results do not reveal that believe. Check out the last ten games and you will see that belief is just delusions of grandeur. Yes, that GT fan is full of bull feces. Then I read a GT fan attacking UGA recruiting. Why would GT care? That is just an inferiority complex in action. I could care less who GT signs. I don’t care if they are 1 stars or 5 stars because that is nothing more than recruiting propaganda. What was the Dwyer kid rated coming out of high school? How many yards did he get in the game? That argument does not hold water either. I am still amazed at the number of GT fans reading UGA blogs. That is sad. Then we hear the typical academic excuses. If your players are so vastly intellectually superior, you could devise a scheme to defeat the Dawgs. It didn’t happen. Do the math. The Dawgs dominated the game. Your defense was non-existent. Our very average running game dominated the game. This was a football game and not a chess match. It was revealed last Saturday that the SEC is vastly superior to the ACC. Your two best teams were defeated by average SEC teams. Yes, your conference championship game should be called the below average SEC championship. The results prove that the ACC is a very weak conference. With the national title coming to a SEC team again this year, why don’t we just save time and declare the national champ after the SEC title game. Ask Ohio State about the dominance of the SEC. At that point, we hear the pathetic wait until basketball season claim. Why not gymnastics, tennis, baseball, equestrian, swimming, and soccer? In typical GT fashion, they manipulate results to serve their petty justifications. Try winning back to back games and then we will debate the issues. At this time, you excuses have no meaning. 30 – 24 speaks for itself. In terms of the coaching deal, we defeat GT and fire some of the coaches. That tells you just how little defeating GT means to UGA. Defeating GT is just a given. We will bring in great coaches and continue the dominance. For the future, all our elite talent is extremely young. Your elite talent are upperclassmen. Give up now because it’s only going to get worse. Go DAWGS

frank james, well is it the players or has the CMR gone soft? Yes there are discpline problems, but the HC is the one who got lax. Funny thing about that gatorade incident, that was alot mor fire than earlier in the game when Gamble slammed the kid 10 yrds out of bounds. I’m not harping on the undiscplined players. You stated it was the players. My guess it is the coaches and the players. More so, the coaches (mainly CMR) who let the undiscpline start in the first place. I just don’t like the fact that you seemed to want to throw the players under the bus. I think all should be held accountable, all the way down to the water boy.

If you had the right leadership from players like a David Greene or Pollock even if the discipine had of gotten lax they would have chewed some tail. It’s okay to simply put the results of our defense and say that it’s not good enough for UGA and because of these results changes need to be made. However, it’s not okay to hurl insults at coaches who were trying their best and it just didn’t work out. These coaches wanted for UGA to be successful more than the fans did. These coaches are the ones that spent 20-30 hours a week with the players and have gotten to know them closely. Things didn’t work out and these coaches paid with their jobs but they don’t deserve the personal insults hurled at them. Coaches can coach to the best of their ability but if you have players that won’t listen then it’s all for naught. I’m not saying this is the case but we don’t know yet.

There is nothing more satisfying than to watch Tim Tebow cry on the sidelines.

Even if we didn’t have anything to do with it.

He will NEVER be drafted in the NFL as a damn Quarterback.

Florida will NOT play Alabama in the B.S. MNCG as a re-match.

While The SEC CHAMPionship Game dominated the day, how about those other conferences ?

Big XII totally sucks.

Texas has beat NO TEAM who is a Ranked Team.

None.

The Big 10 obviously sucks.

The PAC-10 sucks.

The ACC continues to suck.

The Big East only sucks.

Quite clearly The SEC is THE ONLY CONFERENCE IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL.

Congratulations Alabama. Your 22nd SEC Championship.

I rooted for Alabama from the start to finish.

I picked Alabama.

I Guaranteed Alabama was the better football team than Florida, who played no one and ran up its stats playing no one.

Florida played 1 ranked team all season long, Number 13 LSU and beat them 13-3. Other than that, Florida beat no Ranked Team.

SoS shows Alabama Number 5 in the nation.

SoS for Texas is Number 31 and Texas didn’t even PLAY a Game against a Top 25 team all season long.

SEC Wins The National Championship, and it will be Alabama’s 18th National Championship.

Honestly, I will root for Florida to lose their bowl game, too.

I think many voters will have a hard damn time pitting Texas with that weak schedule of having NOT EVEN PLAYED A TOP 25 TEAM, as Number 2.

29 percent of the Georgia Tech Student Body are women.

29%.

Women were not allowed to take all classes at the Georgia Institute of Technology until 1968.

The 1st Georgia Tech Women’s dormitory was not until 1969.

Georgia Tech, according to the AJ-C only, is a Top National University.

However, in fact, Georgia Tech is the Number 35 Top National University, about what the top ACC school is ranked in the AP Poll in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll and that is NOT GEORGIA TECH.

Number 35.

“We’re Number 35.”

No one claims to be Number 35 at nothing.

Crime continues to be the Number 1 problem on Campus.

This last weekend again, another DOZEN Georgia Tech students were victims of robbery inside their own living quarters.

When Tech students venture outside their home, they are attacked and have their laptop computers stolen from them on the streets of their own campus.

29% women at Georgia Tech is the MOST UNBALANCED STUDENT BODIES of ALL NATIONAL UNIVERSITIES.

Women do not feel SAFE at Georgia Tech, and never have been safe at Georgia Tech.

This is the fact.

71 percent of the Tech students are men.

College of Liberal Arts is the fastest growing Georgia Tech college, yet Tech football fans act as if this does not even exist at Georgia Tech. Sure it does. It is the only college at Georgia Tech that actually leads the way in growth, but even here, the women make up only 29 percent of the student body at Georgia Tech.

Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts ?

That what you want ?

Georgia Tech offers such a degree.

Georgia Tech students are heavily stressed and avail themselves of no social functions.

Stress is mostly from the crime on campus.

Stress also from the fact that Georgia Tech is now no longer as SELECTIVE in its ENROLLMENT as at UGA, for example. It is more likely that a student who applies to Georgia Tech will be accepted, than if he applies to The University of This Great State. And, the women are not about to go to Georgia Tech.

Never have.

Never will. It’s not safe and daddy would not let them go after he visits the slums of a city of 6 million, where the Tech campus is in fact located.

Tech should sell the land downtown and move to Gwinnett, as the AJ-C has recently done, with it now quicker for AJ-C reporters to get to UGA than to get to Georgia Tech.

PRINCETON REVIEW now reports that Georgia Tech students are the LEAST HAPPY STUDENTS ON ANY CAMPUS AT ANY NATIONAL UNIVERSITY IN THE ENTIRE NATION.

“GETTING OUT” is what Georgia Tech students use as the phrase when they no longer are on the crime-ridden non-female campus.

21 percent of the Georgia Tech student body are in the Greeks. Buy your friends.

CRIME

Minor crimes around Georgia Tech are commonplace, a reflection of the Institute’s densely populated urban surroundings. The most common crime reported over the last few years, by a large margin, is larceny. Between 2004 and 2006, there were only 32 violent crimes reported, most of them robberies. That the crime rate in Atlanta during the late 1980s and 1990s was the highest in the nation, is what has contributed so highly to the perception that Georgia Tech sits in the middle of the slums of one of the world’s worst crime-ridden areas. Yet, we are to send our children there, especially our girls. Yeah, right.

LARGELY IGNORED

Georgia Tech is largely ignored even in the city of Atlanta where it is located. Students on campus are surrounded by the city, but the city does little to assist the students, or even to protect them.

With 10 times as many graduates of The University of Georgia living in Atlanta than there are Georgia Institute of Technology graduates living in Atlanta, it seems as if everyone is against Georgia Tech, adding to the biggest stress of all college students being in fact on Georgia Tech students. The lone local paper, AJ-C, tries to assist with this when asked to by Georgia Tech administration chiefly during enrollment periods, by seeking to have folks say “Well, I live here in Atlanta, I might as well root for Georgia Tech and go to the Georgia Tech sports venues to support Tech’s teams.”

The only problem with that is that the student-athletes at Georgia Tech are nothing like the rest of the Tech students.

NOTHING LIKE THE REST OF THE TECH STUDENTS.

Tech student-athletes currently are ON PROBATION WITH THE NCAA in men’s basketball, with the NCAA LIMITING Georgia Tech to ONLY 11 scholarships currently because the Georgia Tech student-athletes in men’s basketball have the LOWEST ACADEMIC PROGRESS RATE of all colleges in America.

NOT WHAT YOU THINK OF WHEN YOU THINK OF GEORGIA TECH.

Tech is supposed to be his great National University. Number 35.

Instead, the APR of Georgia Tech’s FOOTBALL team, men’s basketball team and women’s basketball team, are ALL LOWER than the APR for the student-athletes at UGA. And, UGA is FAR MORE SELECTIVE in applications to UGA both as a student-athlete and as a REGULAR STUDENT than is Georgia Tech ANY LONGER.

COMMON SENSE

Common Sense is lacking in the curriculum of Georgia Tech according to its own students. Anyone reading the spins in retort to this article here by me, will see that common sense is something that does not register with Tech students.

Does it make common sense to go to the WebPages of UGA 10 times the size of your local alumni and brag how you are going to utterly destroy a team you have LOST to 60 times, and then return a week afterward and state that you do not feel that a 6-point LOSS is UGA destroying Tech ? That is so obvious that you Georgia Tech fans, said that you would destroy UGA, wait a week before you have the pair to even come back, and then offer up after a week to think about, that oh well, a 6-point loss is not destroying Tech, you tell UGA fans. It is not that you are that stupid to say that, you just lack the common sense that UGA students have to see right through it, that it was you who said you would destroy us, while our common sense fails to see how a 6-point LOSS is destroying us as not we said, but you.

NERDS

Part of the reason why college life is supposed to be the happiest time of your life, is that you are challenged to think by others not like yourself. You are off away from home. You are confronted with opportunities to both better yourself and challenge yourself and opportunities in social growth by being surrounded as I, by 1000 women at Brumby Hall and 1,000 women at Creswell while I studied day and night at Russell Hall with a 1,000 men. At Tech, you are afraid to even go outside for all the crime. And, you are so stressed by the crime and the Georgia Institute of Technology with NO WOMEN at this critical juncture in your life that is supposed to be your happiest time in your life, as with UGA students on our beautiful campus, you end up without social graces as demonstrated on these WebPages by your every post.

LOCK YOUR DOORS.

Tech students even at Fraternities, lock their doors and do not even venture into the common areas.

UGA students are not like this, at all. Yet, we study as much if not more than Tech students.

So, what in the hell are the Tech students doing ?

There sure ain’t no women in there with them behind the locked doors.

The dating scene is dismal at best. And, it is not a good place for women, the number 1 stressed students in the nation of all National Universities, vastly Asian men, Nerds locked in their rooms doing God Knows What in what should be the happiest days of their life, and worrying stressing about the CRIME.

FRATS AND GREEKS.

Even the brothers at the Fraternities are stay largely to themselves and no one really interacts with anyone else, even in the Frats. The doors are LOCKED in the Frat Houses as well.

GEEKS and NERDS.

Greek Geeks are Nerds too, and although they drink, they largely even do that by themselves, locked behind their LOCKED DOORS in the Frat House by themselves.

WHAT IS THE WORST FACTOR ABOUT GEORGIA TECH ?

The social life.

BuLLdawg, you must have nothing better to do than spew lengthy dissertations in this blog. What a blow-hard.

Congrats on the huge win over Tech last week. By your behavior it salvaged your season. Looks like things are changing doesn’t it? Remember when Tech could “salvage” a season with a win over UGA?

By the way, do your research on schools. If there are so many more UGA alumni why is UGA’s total endowment just a whopping $600 million? That’s a pretty pathetic number and just over 1/3 of Tech’s.

Congrats again on the win.

You’re right Tech could NOT salvage Tech’s season by beating UGA.

6 of Tech’s “opponents” end up NOT EVEN IN A BOWL GAME.

Orange Bowl has been the LOWEST RATED BCS BOWL GAME.

This year will be no different.

For CRYING, Florida drops ALL THE WAY TO 6TH IN THE BCS.

No ACC Team in the AP Poll Top 10.

No ACC Team in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll Top 10.

Winning Record against The SEC by Georgia Tech ? B.S., you played the only 2 SEC Teams not in a Bowl Game this year, and then, well there is the game against 5-Loss UGA – with your 60th LOSS to UGA.

Which explains why Tech FANS spend their time in this Bulldog Blog typing away how :

Now that the football season is over except for the bowls, let’s sum it all up.

UGA recruits players who are mostly illiterate felonious goons. Very few of these players graduate, and the ones who do have silly, worthless degrees like “recreation and leisure time activities.” Most players end up in low-paying nonskilled jobs if they have jobs at all, and most live in trailer parks or public housing. Many former players have prison records, some dating back to their playing days. The coaches at UGA know this, but they don’t demand any more, since they only need these players to perform on Saturdays for a few years. The typical UGA fan has never darkened the door of a college classroom.

Georgia Tech players have high school grades and SAT scores that are miles above UGA players. They earn degrees in engineering, science, and industrial management. GT alumni and fans are mostly in high-paying technical jobs and are a credit to their communities.

Would someone please remind me why anyone with any self respect would admit they are a UGA fan?

What’s the deal with questioning the character of the 3 coaches for not sticking around for 3 weeks in a job they do not have. If you can’t figure out why the awkwardness for the rest of the staff, the players, the new hires, and the recruiting would be the last thing everyone needs, you simply are just picking a fight with gentlemen that you have never met for no appearant reasons. “losers” huh? Because they did exactly what Coach expected when he made the meaningless offer. Nice.

I just had to get on this pathetic blog about your pathetic dogs & write on your wall since most of you dog fans have nothing else better to do that write on GT’s blog. Can you not stand it for one minuet that GT is better than Georgia? Yeah, you beat us, but I think we lost because we felt sorry for you mutts & you needed some reassurance that the season is not at a loss. I just want you pound puppies to try & to remember this passed year…. how many Georgia players have been arrested, in jail & taken off the team? Now if you can follow us “nerds”, here is another question…how many Tech players have been arrested, in jail & kicked off the team? You want to support a team that has no class, no morals & no coach that can actually have control of his team? Your coach just shows how others should not act. He needs to be a coach, no their buddy to come get them out of trouble. Now, here is another question…where are the pound puppies ranked & where are they going for a bowl game…….I will give you the answer because I know your heads are hurting right now for all the thinking you had to do… you are not nationally ranked & you are going to the toilet bowl to play yet another bad team that barely made it; maybe you will win the plunger as the award. Face it Dog fans, you had a horrible year & Tech had an outstanding year…get use to it!! GO JACKETS!

UGA is not ugly.

UGA is a cute animal.

And, the # 1 Mascot in America.

Now, ugly would be that Georgia Tech returns home from Athens in 1893, after Tech the year before had won ZERO games all season long, and cheated and played as your best 3 players all players who were NOT students at Georgia Tech (Trade School, then.) Recognizing this, UGA fans threw rocks at the train and then the train rear-ended a freight train outside Lawrenceville.

RAMBLING WRECK RETURNS TO ATLANTA

the headlines of the AJ-C read.

Now, ugly is that Tech tries to pass off a model A from 37 years later then as your “RAMBLIN’ WRECK.”

It is NOT.

It’s a TRAIN.

And, for Good Damn Reason, it’s a TRAIN.

BuLLDawg

December 6th, 2009
9:53 am

It was the first day of 3rd grade, and a new school for BuLLDawg

As a test, the teacher went around the room and asked each of the students to count to 50.

Some did very well, counting as high as 30 and 40, with just a few mistakes. Others couldn’t get past 20.

BuLLDawg, however, did extremely well. He counted past 50, right up to 83.

He was so excited that he ran home and told his Dad how well he had done. His Dad nodded and told him, “That’s because you are from Georgia, son.”

The next day, in language class, the teacher asked the students to recite the alphabet.

Most made it about half way through without much trouble. Some made it to M and N, but BuLLDawg rattled off the alphabet right to W.

That evening, BuLLDawg once again bragged to his Dad about his prowess in his new school. His Dad, knowingly, explained to him, “Son, that’s because you are from Georgia.”

The next day, after Physical Education, the boys were taking showers.

BuLLDawg noted that, compared to the other boys in his grade, he seemed overly well endowed. This confused him.

That night he told his dad, “Dad, they all have little tiny ones, but mine is three times bigger than theirs. Is that because I’m from Georgia?”

“No, BuLLDawg,” explained his Dad, “That’s because you’re 21.”

This year is our year, folks, and CPJ is in this for the long haul…

On January 5th, after you’ve shaken off that 4 day hangover watching everyone else play in a BCS (or top-tier) bowl game, grab a few beers (and perhaps a few of your players), head over to CMR’s house, find a spot on his sofa (it will be a little crowded… you may want to call ahead), throw your feet up and enjoy the Orange Bowl!! We’ll take care of our business in Miami, enjoy that win for a few minutes, then turn our attention back to the cheap shot on Nesbitt last week and start preparing for next November in Athens…

The times, they are a-changin’ my friends, and what was old (gold) is new again…

Go Jackets!!!

BuLLdawg, congrats again on the upset over Tech. For a non-rivalry that you claim to not even be important on your schedule you are so excited about that win that you have been on this blog for hours typing about that win. Sounds like it made your season. Have fun in Shreveport.

So this is Tech’s first BCS game. Georgia has been to a BCS games as SEC Champs and with an at-large bid. We’ve been there before and will be there again, probably before Tech gets back to another BCS game. We’ll take our invite to whatever lousy bowl we get this year and use that extra practice time to get the young pups ready for next year. Can only imagine how many points Tech will give up to TCU or Cincy!

Tom

December 6th, 2009

Seems there are basically two types of folks on these blogs these days.

Type A) Georgia Tech fans trying desperately to convince themselves that the paper crown of an ACC title will fill the void left by falling short against their in-state rival.

Type B) Georgia fans trying desperately to convince themselves that a victory over an overrated Georgia Tech team salves the wounds of a underachieving 7-5 season that featured blowout losses to Florida and Tennessee, not to mention a slow-drip nightmare of a loss to Kentucky.

Denial…it’s FAN-tastic!

What is pitiful is this, we will take more to the weedeater bowl than the mighty jackets will take to the Orange Bowl. Last years Orange Bowl with the ACC champ was the least viewed BCS Bowl game ever, end of story. Tech just isn’t a relevant team, especially in the State of Ga.

BE#3

jojatek — actually, this looks like it is Bama’s year. You can beat up on the bottom of the SEC but you can’t even beat the middle of the SEC. You would get drilled by Bama or Florida. Kinda like you got drilled by LSU in the bowl game last year.

Again, Georgia knows what it’s like to be in BCS games. Glad you’re finally getting a taste of it. And as for the cheap shot, how is gang tackling the ball carrier a cheap shot? Nesbitt wasn’t the only guy that went down. Georgia whooped Tech up and down the field in the trenches as well. That’s SEC football my friend.

I called about getting something off of my credit card, and it of course went to India. It was a Tech grad that answered. He said that it was a great school, and that he had fun, but that there were no women there. He said that he wished that he had gone to UGA so he would have a degree that was relevant these days. He said that he spent almost 5 years earning an engineering degree that was essentially worthless. He said that Tech ranked about 13th on the pecking order for engineering in the US and in Asia that they were in the 50’s. So for now he is resolved to working at a call center and getting a business degree so he would be able to; as he says, got a “job real”. Keep looking in the mirror and telling yourselves how great of a degree you have with Tech. Maybe you should take heed from those leaving your school and add some real majors at your school. It is pitiful when you are ranked the 4th best academic institution in the State of Ga. Jackets will win the bowl and they should be given all the credit, and I hope that they win big. Just stop all this other BS

It’s really sad to see how frustrated the UGA fans are that they’re going to a pizzant losers bowl this year. Let’s do something nice for the former UGA players, at least the ones who are out on parole. Give an orange to the guys on the garbage truck this week. Oranges are nutricious, and they’ll appreciate the gesture.

I have been going to college football games along time and I have never been to a game where they gave away two cars like at the UGA-Tech game. You Tech people get on here and brag about your degrees and your athletic program. At least at UGA we support our programs and don’t depend on commercialization. If it weren’t for a UGA grad., Billy Payne and the Olympics I would hate to see the facilities at Tech. I remember Techwood drive and if not for the building of the new dorms and other buildings there would be more robberies than they are now. Congratulations on the ACC Championship and if you think I sit around and worry that you are going to a better bowl than us for one year, you are crazy. I’m still waiting on someone to tell me why on the Jumbo Tron they tell the majors of all Senior Band Members, but they don’t tell the Majors of the Senior Football Team. Go Dawgs! Should be an interesting matchup. They gave Texas a pretty good game. All you Tech people, I just have one question, where were you for seven years during the streak. You come on here blasting UGA and I don’t think I would if I had gotten beat 8 out of 9 years. Winning brings all the negative out of your opponents. If they had of had instant replay Tech would have two out of twenty. So you better get on your knees and thank the good Lord you didn’t have after further review.

Duh. Winger. The Bowls that currently make up the BCS. Referred to in the short hand as “BCS Bowls” rather than saying “Rose, Sugar, Orange, etc.” or “The Bowls that currently make up the BCS” or “The top Tier Bowls for the last forty years.” ESPN refers to them in the short hand as “BCS Bowls” which makes sense to most people who follow college football. UGA beat Georgia Tech 65-60 today on TV Channel 45 CSS. MaChelle Joseph and Georgia Tech still have never beaten The Lady Dawgs in Athens, ever. The all-time record stands at 3-29 for Georgia Tech against UGA women in basketball. The Georgia Women also have a higher ACADEMIC PROGRESS RATE than Georgia Tech’s Women’s Basketball Team.

UGA looked like the smarter players today by causing 29 Turnovers by Tech’s women and by UGA going on a 13-2 run to end the game. UGA is in the Top 10 of the RPI and Georgia Tech is not in the Top 25 of any Poll. So far this season The Lady Dawgs have beat RPI # 4 Oklahoma, # 14 Rutgers and then # 21 Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech has beat no team in the Top 107 of the RPI.

On the men’s side, Georgia has a Winning Record against Paul Hewitt, who also not only has the worse APR in men’s basketball than UGA, but more importantly is on NCAA PROBATION for having a men’s ACADEMIC PROGRESS RATE of 914, not only the lowest APR in the country, but also causing the NCAA to LIMIT GEORGIA TECH IN MEN’S BASKETBALL TO ONLY 11 SCHOLARSHIPS THIS SEASON.

Congratulations to MaChelle Joseph, who LAST YEAR WHEN SHE LOST TO ANDY LANDERS, had Andy Landers come up to her after the game and extend a handshake, only to see the battle-axe MaChelle Joseph just purposely walk by Andy Landers who has NEVER LOST to Georgia Tech in Athens EVER.

This year, after the defeat of Georgia Tech, MaChelle Joseph went ahead and shook Andy Landers’ hand.

Georgia Tech just has a hard time competing with The University of Georgia’s Athletic Department in ACADEMICS.

And, sports.

MaChelle Joseph had said before the game today, that beating Georgia at Georgia would be the defining moment of the Georgia Tech Women’s Basketball Program, today.

She isn’t any different than Paul Johnson and the women aren’t any different from the football players who were totally sure they would beat UGA before they played us, too. Defining Moment ? Why not wait until you beat UGA ever in women’s basketball in Athens, and then say it was the defining moment MaChelle instead of bragging pregame that it is before you actually ever have beat UGA in Athens in Women’s Basketball.
