Bulldog Bites: Bowl tickets on sale Sunday night

Will the Dogs go bowling in Atlanta or Shreveport? (UGA Sports Communications)

Will the Dogs go bowling in Atlanta or Shreveport? (UGA Sports Communications)

Atlanta? Shreveport? We’ll find out Sunday evening.

I’m hoping for the Chick-fil-A Bowl but recognize there were times this season when the Dogs looked like they’d be lucky to make it to the Independence Bowl.

I noticed the other day when I wrote about how Shreveport is not a popular destination among SEC teams, some defender of the Louisiana city took umbrage in the comments. Hey, I’ve got nothing against Shreveport itself. But its bowl, in its last year of a tie-in with the SEC, doesn’t generate much buzz. Though whenever I hear the Independence Bowl mentioned, I think of a time back in the 1990s when I was at a UGA baseball game and a guy sitting behind me, who did a dead-on impression of Ray Goff, kept drawling, “Dadburnit, Vince, I like Shreveport!”

Anyway, whichever bowl the Dogs get, the athletic association has announced that tickets will be available to the general public beginning at 8 p.m. Sunday online via the ticket office Web site. Fans also can order bowl tickets by calling 1-877-542-1231 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. All ticket requests will be filled in the order in which they are received, subject to availability.

All Hartman Fund donors will receive the number of tickets to the bowl they requested during the pre-order process and also will receive priority on ticket assignments based on their cumulative donation score, the athletic association says.

The Dogs will be making their 45th bowl game appearance. Georgia currently has a 25-16-3 bowl record. This will be the Bulldogs’ ninth straight bowl appearance under Mark Richt.

SUPPORT BUTLER

All-American Drew Butler, who leads the nation in punting, is considered the leading candidate for the Ray Guy Award, given annually to the nation’s top punter. The winner will be announced on ESPN’s College Football Awards, televised starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday. ESPN is conducting a straw poll online as to who should win the award. To show your support for Butler, go here and vote.

GEORGA VS. GEORGIA TECH AGAIN

The Lady Bulldogs take on Tech’s women’s basketball team at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens in a game that will be televised regionally on CSS and carried on radio in Athens via AM 960 The Ref. The game will be the first of a school-record 14 regular-season TV appearances for the Lady Dogs this season.

Georgia, ranked No. 13 in the AP poll and No. 16 in the ESPN/USA Today poll, is 7-0 so far this season, while Tech, ranked 23rd in the AP poll, is 5-1. This will be the first time both teams have entered their matchup ranked in the AP poll.

Georgia leads the series 28-3, including an 11-0 mark at Stegeman Coliseum. Tech won 57-42 last year in Atlanta.

Go Dogs!

The holiday season in Shreveport…how good can it get. I wonder why Willie & Co. don’t want to coach the Dawgs in the bowl game his defense got the Bulldog nation to, can it be any better? You can’t get any better than Shreveport. You may have a problem though, does Shreveport even show up on GPS?

Guess no respect for beating the ACC Champ, doubt many Dawgs will drive nine hours to see a 6-6 Texas A & M team that beat one team with a winning record and played on Monday afternoon. Unless you like riverboat gambling LA style and a fairgrounds stadium not much calling. I have spent too many nites in Shreveport for biz, depressing is an understatement! Disappointed to say the least!!!!!! I will remenber next time Chicken Bowl wants the DAWGS!!!!

Go Dawgs! Should be an interesting matchup. They gave Texas a pretty good game. All you Tech people, I just have one question, where were you for seven years during the streak. You come on here blasting UGA and I don’t think I would if I had gotten beat 8 out of 9 years. Winning brings all the negative out of your opponents. If they had of had instant replay Tech would have two out of twenty. So you better get on your knees and thank the good Lord you didn’t have after further review.

I find it amusing that Dawg fans refer to the acomplishments of the SEC as “we” did this or “we” did that….Fact is Fl, LSU and Ala make up the “we” in the SEC…Everyone else is just ROTC.(rest of the crowd), the bottom-feeders, the ones your like to talk down about. Welcome to the crowd Dawgies, and enjoy your cheesie little bowl in Sh$tport.

UGAg should feel right at home. There’s not much difference between Shreveport and Athens except there’s more to do in Shreveport, so the mutts should have a good time gambling. If that doesn’t work they can get themselves some rings to sell on eBay.

You poor mutts deserve what you got. LMAO

So, it’s UGa (not ranked) vs Texas A&M (not ranked) in the AdvoCare V100 bowl (not ranked) in Shreveport (not ranked) on ESPN2 (not ranked) while there’s no other football on TV. Keep squawking your 30-24, and we did it better back in 06, and the SEC (not counting UGa) is better than sex. It’s all you’ve got.

Duh. Winger. The Bowls that currently make up the BCS. Referred to in the short hand as “BCS Bowls” rather than saying “Rose, Sugar, Orange, etc.” or “The Bowls that currently make up the BCS” or “The top Tier Bowls for the last forty years.” ESPN refers to them in the short hand as “BCS Bowls” which makes sense to most people who follow college football. Sorry I didn’t spell it out for you.

UGA beat Georgia Tech 65-60 today on TV Channel 45 CSS. MaChelle Joseph and Georgia Tech still have never beaten The Lady Dawgs in Athens, ever. The all-time record stands at 3-29 for Georgia Tech against UGA women in basketball. The Georgia Women also have a higher ACADEMIC PROGRESS RATE than Georgia Tech’s Women’s Basketball Team.

UGA looked like the smarter players today by causing 29 Turnovers by Tech’s women and by UGA going on a 13-2 run to end the game. UGA is in the Top 10 of the RPI and Georgia Tech is not in the Top 25 of any Poll. So far this season The Lady Dawgs have beat RPI # 4 Oklahoma, # 14 Rutgers and then # 21 Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech has beat no team in the Top 107 of the RPI.

On the men’s side, Georgia has a Winning Record against Paul Hewitt, who also not only has the worse APR in men’s basketball than UGA, but more importantly is on NCAA PROBATION for having a men’s ACADEMIC PROGRESS RATE of 914, not only the lowest APR in the country, but also causing the NCAA to LIMIT GEORGIA TECH IN MEN’S BASKETBALL TO ONLY 11 SCHOLARSHIPS THIS SEASON.

Congratulations to MaChelle Joseph, who LAST YEAR WHEN SHE LOST TO ANDY LANDERS, had Andy Landers come up to her after the game and extend a handshake, only to see the battle-axe MaChelle Joseph just purposely walk by Andy Landers who has NEVER LOST to Georgia Tech in Athens EVER.

This year, after the defeat of Georgia Tech, MaChelle Joseph went ahead and shook Andy Landers’ hand.

Georgia Tech just has a hard time competing with The University of Georgia’s Athletic Department in ACADEMICS.

And, sports.

MaChelle Joseph had said before the game today, that beating Georgia at Georgia would be the defining moment of the Georgia Tech Women’s Basketball Program, today.

She isn’t any different than Paul Johnson and the women aren’t any different from the football players who were totally sure they would beat UGA before they played us, too. Defining Moment ? Why not wait until you beat UGA ever in women’s basketball in Athens, and then say it was the defining moment MaChelle instead of bragging pregame that it is before you actually ever have beat UGA in Athens in Women’s Basketball.
