(University of Georgia)
A lot of bowl projections currently have the Dogs winding up in Atlanta’s Chick-fil-A Bowl, which certainly would please the fans since it’s the best Georgia can do bowl-wise. And it no doubt would guarantee another quick sellout for the bowl formerly known as Peach.
But there’s still a good chance the Dogs could wind up in Nashville. Or Shreveport. Or even Birmingham (which is where CBSSports.com sees Georgia playing).
A factor in determining where the Dogs end up playing will be how well the bowl officials think the Dog fan base will travel.
Mark Richt made reference to that on his TV show Sunday, pleading with the season ticket holders who can buy tickets in advance up until 5 p.m. Friday to go ahead and do so. The more tickets sold in advance, when fans still don’t know what bowl their team will get, the more impressed bowl officials are.
This is especially a concern when the team in question has underperformed, like the Dogs have this year. With half a dozen 7-5 teams in the SEC, the question in their minds is which fan base will follow their team despite not being that excited over the season.
Are you willing to follow the Dogs to Nashville or one of the other non-Atlanta bowls? Have you already put in for tickets? Or does a third- or fourth-tier bowl not interest you?
I’ll be off Tuesday, but the Blawg will return on Wednesday.

I think the fans would follow the team anywhere. My biggest question is who will be the opponent? There are some interesting possibilities? Would be cool to see Georgia play someone new for a change.

Loss to UK was a bigger blow than people realized. Cost us the Outback bowl as well as 2nd place in the SEC East. I don’t have the funds to go bowling no matter where they go. However, would rather see them in Atlanta than Nashville or Shreveport or Birmingham. Weather will probably be lousy in outdoor stadiums so lets hope they make Atlanta. I believe Dawg fans will follow them no matter where they go but not as many as in past years. Economic hard times will have an affect on this years bowl games in my opinion. There are too many games anyway so maybe some will be weeded out.

I would like to see UGA get the best bowl possible that assists the fans in making a decision on a trip. As a Tech fan I can tell you some trips suck – take Boise for example.
BUT, if UGA fans keep calling their victory over Tech Saturday the same as beating a high school team, then UGA will probably end up in Shreveport. That is where you go when you beat high school teams.
BUT, if you brag on beating a top 10 team, and beating them soundly, then you probably earned the right to take that spot Tennessee now holds.
Just saying.

Crow all you want, but GT is still the best team in Georgia, hands down. The tide is changing and Tech will be in the hunt for a BCS Bowl every year, and UGA will struggle to be 3rd or 4th in the SEC East (Where other than the Gators, the teams stack up like the MAC, at best). Congrats, you upset a great team on a day in which they played their worst game of the season (BY FAR), and STILL would have beat you if it hadn’t have been for some very questionable play calling on the last drive. If Tech wins out, they will be ranked in the Top 15, maybe even the Top 10 preseason next year. UGA will get the pity SEC Top 25 bid based on recruiting class, which the Dawgs have proven (this year) is about as strong as Uga’s right coronary artery. Florida will own you, as will Tennessee, and Tech will win 7 of the next 10, at least. There is the sad future for all the Dawg fans who live for UGA football.

To the Tech clod who claimed to be the best team in the state and would beat Georgia 7 of the next 10, quit sniffing glue. Georgia exposed that paper mache defense of yours and actually played assignment football against that throwback, Division 1A offense you run. Be happy that Gailey recruited Mrs. Nesbitt to the Trade School (as a passing QB) or you’d have little Jaybird Shaw getting a beat down and throwing picks all over the field. We proved that anyone with the right personnel can shut down that gimmick offense so Va. Tech, Miami, and Clemson will soon have your number. Johnson will do what any other coach worth his salt does and leave the Ghetto Campus within 5 years.

Here’s the most interesting thing about where Georgia is going bowling:
The ACC Title Game outcome will determine our bowl bid.
If Tech wins and Clemson loses, then Tech goes to the Orange Bowl, VaTech goes to the Gator, and Clemson goes to the Peach-Fil-A Bowl.
If Clemson comes to Atlanta, they WILL invite the Dawgs. Clemson vs. Georgia. Traditional, old-school rivalry game?
It’ll do really well on TV, and with all the Clemson people coming into town for the Bowl.
Now, if Clemson upsets Tech, THIS is how it’ll play out: Clemson to the Orange, TECH to the Gator, then VaTech to Atlanta.
If VaTech is coming to Atlanta, you better believe they WILL NOT pick Georgia to come. They just had that SAME match-up three years ago.
Kentucky will be taken for the Peach-Fil-A, if that’s the case, and then Georgia will go to the Music City Bowl in Nashville.
So, Atlanta or Nashville depends on whether or not Tech can win the ACC this year.

As a season ticket holder with 4 in the club section in Sanford I have been asked to put in my order. If UGA goes to Atl. I will go. I will not order my tickets through our athletic office. In 2007 when we went to Atl. and played Va. Tech I ordered tickets through the athletic office. I ordered Mezzenine (sp) seats and received mezzenine in the end zone. I have a high priority at UGA (upper 5%) I learned my lesson concerning ordering tickets through UGA. It is not their fault, the Bowls always send lousy seats to the participating schools. I will obtain better seats buying them online.
In answer to another question, I will not go to Nashville for a bowl game. I will only go to Atl. this year, a 7-5 record does not motivate me to travel this year beyond Atl. I will be back in my season seats next fall hoping to see some coaching changes and a new direction for our program, (especially on defense and special teams).

Real Dawgs will–unlike their Tech counterparts–travel and support their team. Fans can’t have it both ways. We have bashed the Tech fans who dug their gear out of the moth balls and jumped on the bandwagon all year. This year we have run into a bit of adversity and a lot of people are disappointed with the program–primarily people who have never played at any level higher than JV football or coached at any level higher than Rec Ball. I realize that some people just can’t afford to make a long trip–like Shreveport–for a basically meaningless game….and when you fall as far down on the pecking order as we did this year, you have to play on work nights….but if Georgia plays in Atlanta, Dawg fans need to pack the place or shut about Tech’s non-support of their team forever. Ditto Birmingham. It’s a day trip, for goodness sakes. Visit Bear Bryant’s grave and and teach your kids some SEC history. Nashville is a 4 hour drive and has tons of decent hotels in the $75 range. The team came through and beat the Number 7 in the nation in their own house. Now real Georgia fans need to put up or shut up. And as for me and my family, we will be wherever the Dawgs are–period.

Even though a local game in Atlanta is appealing and, on the surface, logical for Dawg fans… you make a good point.
Georgia fans are way more consistent than Kentucky or South Carolina fans. While it makes sense to send us to the Georgia Dome, it also makes just as much sense to send us somewhere else because they can depend on us to buy the tickets and travel.
I for one love traveling, but the difference in playing in some cold, small stadium is so unappealing in contrast to being in the noisy, and warm confines of the Georgia Dome.
Plus, for the smaller schools like Kentucky and SC and Tenn, Atlanta becomes a very appealing site that will attract foreign fans.

What really needs to happen is ALL fans DO NOT buy any kind of bowl tickets. Boycott the whole thing, all the bowls. Then hopefully after a couple of New Years Days of empty stadiums around the nation we’ll get a playoff system implemented like we need instead of the crap system we have now. Play it on the field instaed of in the “Beauty Pageant” polls. We all saw that for ourselves this past weekend with all the upsets.

Say all you want about owning Tech (which we do), but I would be really hesitant to start talking about taking back the Florida series. Yes, we still own the series lead (UF must have really stunk in the past if they still trail this series after two dominant decades), but the Jax trip is now a nationally televised showcase for the disparity between these two programs. And stop with the “we’ll win again when Tebow is gone” nonsense. That kid has been there 4 years. Florida has dominated this “rivalry” since Tebow was in Pampers, not just three of the four years he has been there. They have a stable full of athletes ready to step in and continue the domination, so Tebow leaving means nothing unless we get better.
Urban Meyer isn’t going to South Bend, people. He will never have it anywhere better than he has it at Gainesville. He’s already got two rings and is the odds-on favorite to win a third in six weeks or so (I just vomited in my mouth). Notre Dame offers nothing even close to that because that is NOT the plum job it used to be.
UGA needs to RAISE the level of its program to compete with Florida, NOT hope they come back to the pack.

No one said it meant nothing to us Bulldogs to beat you.
You are a nothing of a football program with 7 years you have gone losing every single solitary game.
You play in a dump of football stadium, down there in the slums of a city of 6 million people, where all the drugs are and where all the crime is.
And, you know it.
You have NEVER ever won a single 1 Final AP Poll National Championship in Football.
Your football players nowadays have a WORSE Academic Progress Rate in FOOTBALL than we do at The University of This State, UGA.
You named your football stadium for Bobby Dodd, and he is a college drop-out of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
You have Lost to UGA in Football 60 times.
60.
Only 4 schools in all of America have ever lost more games in 1-A football to any one team than the Georgia Institute of Technology has Lost to UGA.
You play in a sorry conference.
Your entire conference does not have 1 single solitary team in the Top 10 of either the USA Today Coaches’ Poll nor in the AP Poll Top 10.
Again.
You never do.
You play an ACC chumpionship game wherever you can find a place to play it who will have you. This year it is in Tampa, and it consists of 1 team who isn’t even ranked in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll.
Not at all.
You have the lowest ratings in college football.
You have the fewest attendance in college football.
You travel the worst.
You can’t even get people to come down there giving away 4 cokes, 2 hotdogs, 2 bags of boiled peanuts, and a parking pass to just buy any ticket.
You blew up half your stadium to make it look like it is full.
You still can’t fill it up.
NCAA states that Georgia Tech played the Number 48 Strength of Schedule in the nation this year.
Congratulations.
You live for only 1 goal, even if Paul Johnson doesn’t understand, and that is to only beat UGA.
It is all you care about.
You accomplish that 38.7 percent of the time.
37-60-5.
.387 winning percentage Georgia Tech against UGA.
Your fans are the stinkiest in the nation.
You have to appeal to the fans of Georgia Tech (both of them) to not throw trash on the field.
You have spent the time pregame going to all WebPages you can find to say how badly you are going to utterly destroy UGA.
Your 1 wide receiver who did not quit the team when your coach brought his all run no pass scheme, dropped the ball on 4th down thrown right to him standing there all alone wide open with no one anywhere near him but himself.
Your coach who says he runs the ball only threw passes on the last 4 downs to end your chances again this year.
It is your obsession with beating UGA in football that you brought on yourself that finds you now whining that Oh, BuLLdawg sir, all you UGA fans said that it didn’t mean anything to us UGA fans to beat Tech. All you do is whine, when you lose to UGA. Whine waah waah waah. Look nerds, we own you in football and always have and always will. I absolutely hate to lose to Georgia Tech in football. It means nothing to me to lose to Georgia Tech in football ? B.S. It means a lot more to you to beat us, than it does to us to beat you, coming from my side of the street. I would far prefer to beat Auburn than to beat Georgia Tech. That means something. They don’t cheat, kick and whine. They play football on the Plains. On the flats, you don’t play football and no body cares about Georgia Tech football, least of all, you Georgia Tech fans (both of you.) But, by God, you want to beat UGA at football more than anything in your life.
You Lost again.
60th time.
30-24 at your Grant Field in the slums where all the drugs are and where the crime is.
I would NEVER name my field Grant Field in downtown Atlanta after what the Commander in Chief of the Union Army in the War of Northern Aggression did burning down the Proud City of Atlanta. Why don’t you just sell the land downtown and move to Gwinnett where the AJ-C moved to, closer to UGA than to Tech anyway nowadays. Maybe you could engineer a sports complex there, because you sure as hell don’t have any venue for sports any one would want to come to where you are now. The AJ-C states that there are 29,700 Georgia Tech alumni in its readership and that there are over a third of a million UGA graduates in the AJ-C readership.
You spend your days and nights in here at the AJ-C telling the AJ-C that Georgia Tech is great at football and that you did NOT play the Number 48 NCAA Strength of Schedule this season. You sure as hell did.
You beat 1 team ranked Number 11 in the AP Poll and Number 11 in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll, Virginia Tech and now they are ranked AHEAD of you. There is not 1 other game all season long that Georgia Tech has won against ANY Ranked Team in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll Top 25. Not 1.
And, we don’t care about beating that kind of B.S. for a football program ?
You’re a nonentity of a football program in a nonentity of a conference of little itty bitty teeny weenie schools, and you went out of conference besides us to play the only 2 SEC schools of the 12 SEC schools who are not going to a bowl game. 10 of the 12 SEC teams are bowl eligible. You chose the other 2. And, don’t give me this crap that you didn’t know that before you scheduled them along with Jacksonville State and your sorry lot of football programs in the ACC. All cupcake conference.
30-24.
The entire ACC are insignificant in the discussion of college football, and have been. You have no team in the Top 10 of the AP Poll and no team in the Top 10 of the USA Today Coaches’ Poll.
Your conference chumpionship game against Not Top 25 USA Today Coaches’ Poll Climpsum Farmers, none of you will go to. None of you will watch. No one else will go. No one else will watch. You will not even sell the tickets given to you.
And, we are not supposed to care about Losing to you ? B.S. Have you seen Paul Johnson’s wife ? Listened to her that she doesn’t even care about football. I take it for granted that we are going to beat you. With a 38.7 winning percentage against us, I can see how you would be so obsessed with beating us. But, don’t bring that weak B.S. around here Wes and the rest of you nerds that UGA fans said we don’t care about Losing to you. We just take it for granted that we are going to beat you. I guaranteed it. And, I have read the posts, and all you sorry fans of Georgia Tech who bragged before the game what you guaranteed, have every single one of you failed to show up and take your medicine, for which I have no respect for you fans of Georgia Tech, and that includes especially the AJ-C, Tony Barnhart, Jeff Schultz, and you fat slob Wes Durham.

I added jobs with salaries, benefits and commission checks out to sale people that earned well over $100,000 per year ( in the 80s, 90s, 2K ) and provided for their families and they played golf and they tipped well at nice metro Atlanta golf clubs and flew Delta to exotic vacation destiantions is what I ADDED here in Atlanta since 1971, my FIRST GRAD year …………..you 15 year old idiot!!! Atlanta Sports Council will not pick VT for ChickFilA. That would put their fans in ATL 3 times in 4 months. vs Bama in kickoff classic, @ nerds and in Chickfila bowl. IT will not happen. Plus ChickFilA bowl automatically gets the #2 ACC team. So the only other possibility it could be with a nerds win vs clemson would be a UGA v Miami ChickFilA Bowl.
I put in for Nashville, Atlanta and Tampa with my season ticket package.

Wow…another UGA football player arrested, what a surprise???? NOT!!! UGA got lucky…anyone with any football knowledge knows that the GA Tech football team (this year) is better than the UGA team and I’m not a fan of either school’s football program. That is just the facts no matter how you want to portray the truth.

41-17. Gators win the National Championship. Enjoy the Chickfila bowl. Beating GT can’t cover up the fact that UGA is a second-rate program and shows no signs of improvement.

Tech fans, having guaranteed a win over UGA at Bobby Dodd Stadium (named for college DROP-OUT of University of TN at Knoxville), have all had to change their login AFTER the game. 2 new posters showed up to say that the refs cost them the game and would’ve should have could have, or Tech is the better team playing in the stinking ACC with 3 more wins than UGA who faced Oklahoma State, Georgia Tech, Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, South Carolina, Arkansas, and LSU.
So, now they post as if they are a Florida fan.
Yeah, hide behind your keyboard Tech fans.
Nerds.
By the way, we beat Florida more when Tim Tebow was there than we did, when he was NOT there.
Famous UGA alumni ? How about me. I’ve made 2 million dollars in the last dozen years, a lot more than you Tech nerds posting here will see.
Famous UGA alumni : Founder of Gold Kist, Chairman and CEO of Georgia-Pacific, Prime Minister of Yemen, CEO of AFLAC, Country Singer Bill Anderson, Chairman and CEO of Synovus, Tom Cousins Chairman and CEO of Cousins Properties, 5 UGA Football players who were the MVP of the NFL Championship Game including Super Bowl MVP Terrell Davis, Teresa Edwards, M. Did you think that I would not know this when UGA is the foundation of public higher education and Number 58 in the U.S. News and World Report Rankings with nearly a half million now graduates of UGA ? Are you that stupid ?

UGA is a “Tier 1 University” according to the U.S. News and World Report and we have a far greater impact in society than the itty bitty tiny teeny weenie Georgia Institute of Technology does with 25,000 UGA undergraduates to Tech only 12,000, of which are men and mostly from Asia. All day long, all I deal with are UGA grads. Everyone. Nearly half a million of us, and a third of a million of us here in this readership you spout your mouth off to with 29,700 of you, if you are a graduate of Tech, like I am of UGA. We are Number 58 University in the U.S. News and World Report Rankings, Tech is Number 35.
Yeah, we are Number 35.
Number 35.
No one brags they are Number 35 at anything.
And, you have Lost to us 60 times in football and your football players don’t go on the NFL, don’t graduate, and have zero impact on anything anywhere which is your point. Further, your football players’ APR is far worse than UGA’s football players’ APR.

I love this…all you Ga fans a few weeks ago wanting to hang the entire coaching staff, but when you won against Gt, you seem to have forgotten the hatred for the team & the coaching staff!!! I hope the team goes to the toilet bowl…that is where they belonged all year!!! But as usual, they will probably go to a bowl close to home so all you Georgia fans will be able to go; they know you will rather spend $$ on this rag tag team than pay your bills!!!

Do I have to go? I hope it is to Atlanta and they pick a weak team from the ACC that we can beat. I do not want anything from any team in Florida. It has become embarrassing how Florida drills us since Mark set up that weak running on the field stuff in Jacksonville, followed by the silly changing uniforms prior to the game, when we should have been using the time to coach defense.
I think a Pizza Bowl probably best fits where our program is today.

So BuLLdawg is nowhere to be seen virtually all year until Georgia wins a meaningful game. Had to wait all year, didn’t you, BuLLdawg ? Then, after Bill K. and L-Dawg assure everyone that Georgia doesn’t obsess over Tech, BuLLdawg spends several thousand words-worth of his vitriol obsessing about Tech. This is why Georgia fans are widely regarded as some of the most obnoxious in the country. BuLLdawg, I think your mommie’s calling you.

The funny thing is that as usual a middle of the pack SEC team is still better than a “top” ACC team. Chick Fil A Bowl proves it every year. The ACC has no business being entitled to a BCS bowl and taking it away from a deserving team like Boise St or TCU.

Under no circumstances would I attend a bowl other than the Chick-fil-a in Atlanta to watch this UGA team play. If it’s convenient, yes – if it requires the effort of driving – well a team that performed as UGA did in that 2nd half game vs. Kentucky isn’t worth that effort.

I just laughed out loud at that comment.
If they do play in the Dome, can they leave a cornerback in the locker room so the Falcons can use him next. Granted they aren’t very good cornerbacks, but they sure as hell beat what the Falcons are trotting out these days. Sheesh!!

In regards to “Who needs a motel when you can hitch up your house and drive to Shreveport” comment, we obviously watched different games because UGA dominated GT the entire game. Oh and the score was 30-24 in case you dont remember!! So true we may of not had the best season and may not be the best in the sec (this year, but just wait until next), but were obviously the best in Georgia-that was settled on the field saturday-30-24!!! GOOOOOO DAWGS!!!!!!!!
I hope we get to play in the chick-fil-a bowl so we can play another ACC team and win, but I will travel where ever to watch the Dawgs play in their bowl game! Go Dawgs!!!!!!
