Caleb King's 75-yard touchdown run was a thing of beauty. (Brant Sanderlin / AJC)
So, how’s that ACC championship game looking now, huh?
Finally made it home from Historic Grant Field (MARTA may be smarta but it sure isn’t faster) with the chants of the UGA student section we sat near still ringing in my head.
Early on, Tech’s hip-hop heavy video board had video of some of the Jackets leading the gold-and-white crowd in the popular number “All the Way Turnt Up” but it wasn’t long before the Georgia students appropriated that as the theme song of the evening for the Dogs.
Man, it felt good to see Georgia rediscover the joys of running the ball straight at the opponent. Washaun Ealey, with his 183 yards, and Caleb King with 166 made it look easy at times, particularly on King’s 75-yard run. And Joe Cox discovered, as Buck Belue knew all those years ago, how good you can look at QB when all you have to do is hand off to your backs.
Actually, that’s selling Cox short. He made a couple of key throws tonight and did a great job of managing the game for the most part. It shouldn’t have been as close as it was, with the Dogs having to settle for field goal tries too often in the second half, but that’s a minor point in the afterglow of a terrific win by the unranked Bulldogs over the nation’s No. 7 team.
Those takeaways by the Georgia defense were pretty sweet, too.
And the middle of the Georgia defensive line finally lived up to its billing, making Tech’s Jonathan Dwyer not much of a factor in the game. You had to wonder why the Jackets kept trying to run up the middle, when obviously they had more success on the perimeter. And their decision to go to the air exclusively on that last series of downs? Curious, but it worked out well for the Dogs.
I’ll take a closer look at the game Sunday, but for now let me just say that I haven’t decided yet which game is coming off the list of my 10 favorite UGA wins over Tech … but I definitely know which game is being added to the list!
It’s a great night to be a Georgia Bulldog!
And as the student section chanted while the seconds ticked off the clock at the end, SEC! SEC! SEC!

BuLLdawg,
Who did either Florida or Alabama beat so far this year? After all every team they have played is worse than them. Therefore, they have played NO ONE and do not deserve ANY recognition or ranking for having beaten NO ONE.
This is the exact same type of logic you use in EVERY ONE of YOUR MORONIC posts. YOU are not only a MISERABLE human being and a LOUSY example of a DAWG fan but YOU have NO BRAIN.
NO ONE cares about your AGENDA to fire all of our coaches and start over from scratch. I can only hope that YOU are in no position to directly have ANY influence on other HUMAN BEINGS who would might be harmed by your presence. Unfortunately, ALL who read your posts have to suffer. YOU and H. Talker need to go very far AWAY and NEVER come back.

Congrats UGA on a good game Saturday. You ran it down our throats, and we couldn’t stop it. Your rushing game showed up that last game of the year. Where was that at all year? Keep Joe Cox handing the ball off, and he looks like a great QB. Still don’t know what happened in the Kentucky game. You showed up to play and were on a mission. Good job.
Now, although a win over UGA would have been nice, in seasons past, it would have made our year, like last year. This year, not so much. It still does not diminish the fact that Tech finished the season 10-2 and will be playing for the ACC championship and a berth to the Orange Bowl. Not a bad year. If UGA was playing in the Dome this weekend, then I am sure UGA fans would have enjoyed the win a lot more. The fact still remains, UGA is a middle of the pack team in a good conference that finally played up to their potential Saturday night. But in the end, Florida and Alabama remain the cream of the crop, and UGA has a long way to go to catch them. Congratulations on your win, enjoy Shreveport.

Well, congratulations to you Bulldogs from a disappointed Tech fan. You guys had a great game plan, and more importantly, you guys came to play. A great game, but I sure do wish that CPJ would’ve stuck with the game plan on that last drive. Looking forward to revenge next year.
PS – if anyone knows the idiot sitting in the back row of section 210 (if you were sitting close, you know who he was), tell him to stay home next year and offer to take his poor kid to the game for him…
