Caleb King's 75-yard touchdown run was a thing of beauty. (Brant Sanderlin / AJC)

So, how’s that ACC championship game looking now, huh?

Finally made it home from Historic Grant Field (MARTA may be smarta but it sure isn’t faster) with the chants of the UGA student section we sat near still ringing in my head.

Early on, Tech’s hip-hop heavy video board had video of some of the Jackets leading the gold-and-white crowd in the popular number “All the Way Turnt Up” but it wasn’t long before the Georgia students appropriated that as the theme song of the evening for the Dogs.

Man, it felt good to see Georgia rediscover the joys of running the ball straight at the opponent. Washaun Ealey, with his 183 yards, and Caleb King with 166 made it look easy at times, particularly on King’s 75-yard run. And Joe Cox discovered, as Buck Belue knew all those years ago, how good you can look at QB when all you have to do is hand off to your backs.

Actually, that’s selling Cox short. He made a couple of key throws tonight and did a great job of managing the game for the most part. It shouldn’t have been as close as it was, with the Dogs having to settle for field goal tries too often in the second half, but that’s a minor point in the afterglow of a terrific win by the unranked Bulldogs over the nation’s No. 7 team.

Those takeaways by the Georgia defense were pretty sweet, too.

And the middle of the Georgia defensive line finally lived up to its billing, making Tech’s Jonathan Dwyer not much of a factor in the game. You had to wonder why the Jackets kept trying to run up the middle, when obviously they had more success on the perimeter. And their decision to go to the air exclusively on that last series of downs? Curious, but it worked out well for the Dogs.

I’ll take a closer look at the game Sunday, but for now let me just say that I haven’t decided yet which game is coming off the list of my 10 favorite UGA wins over Tech … but I definitely know which game is being added to the list!

It’s a great night to be a Georgia Bulldog!

And as the student section chanted while the seconds ticked off the clock at the end, SEC! SEC! SEC!

Every single bulldog fan that is flapping his jaws here didn’t give their team a chance to win this game. Hats off to the bulldog players who watched the fans stream out of their stadium by the thousands when they still had a chance to beat Kentucky. They came and played tough , made a few more plays than the Jackets and won a tough game. I tip my cap to the players and all you bandwagon supposed Bulldog fans just keep on flapping your jaws. It is what you are best at!

I can handle the GT bloggers more than your idiotic posts. It’s an embarassment to have you as a fellow DAWG fan. Criticize and insult the players and coaches when they lose and then jump on the bandwagon savor the victory and still criticize the coaches when they win a big game. I’ve asked this question before and i know the answere….Did you every play football before or are you one of those wimpy ass people that sit and watch a game and think it’s so easy and everything is so simple because you’ve never done it before…I question your manhood….

Jake has summed the situation up perfectly. I said basically the same thing after last year’s bowl win over a very weak Michigan State team. Changes are needed if we want to compete with the teams in our own conference. Like it or not, we are not members of either the ACC or the Big 11. Obviously mediocre teams can win 10 games playing in the ACC and play for the Conference Championship and a birth in BCS bowl. Mediocre teams in the SEC East win 7 or 8 games, get humiliated 2 to 4 times a season (have we already forgotten the UT and UF games?) and end up playing in a December Bowl game.

As I said last year: CWM and Fabris must be replaced or we will suffer through another terrible season next year. They weren’t and we did. They must or we will again.

Okay, Willie, we saved your job. Just don’t change anything for next year. Enjoy Shreveport or Birmingham, and oh, by the way, being ranked 50th isn’t all that bad. At least its better than you rank in penalties and turnovers.

LOL, dog fans are getting so hyped about this win. Just proves that this was your biggest game of the season (since FL and LSU and bama dominate you now).

You idiots have to realize that THIS was your Super Bowl game, not OURS. Same goes for USC. Clemson and Tech ran into talented but inferior teams that had nothing else to play for. It happens.

I thought you leg humpers measured yourselves by how you perform vs. FL or LSU or Bama? Now it’s Tech, cause your team has dropped into the abyss of irrelevant, and Tech is #12 and BCS bowl bound.

Don’t believe me? Your UGA win didn’t even make the top headlines at espn.com.

Side note: so funny hearing such happy leg humpers with a 7-5 season.

Is there any doubt that Tech loses out to end the season? Clemson will beat them into the ground which means they go to Jacksonville for the Gator Bowl and lose to Pittsburgh or Cincy.

Then Paul Johnson leaves for Notre Dame and the process begins again.

And you dogs fans running around beating your chest saying you are the best.we all know GT was not a #7 team with a defence like that.and with 1.22 seconds left and the GT receiver on the 15 and droping the pass for a 1st down.had he caught the ball as bad as GT played they should and could have won the game.as bad as thier defence is and thier over all play.that should give you some observation of how good or bad the dogs are.

Lets face it, we are no better than a high school team. Alas UGA is the greatest team in the state once again, and your comments to shield your pain are so obvious. Its Ok, just cry, we are of course tech fans so we are used to it. Clemson will no doubt beat us next week and then we will get killed in our bowl game, because we are just a fancy high school team. It’s GREAT to be a Georgia Bulldawg!!

It was like watching the Dawgs of old!! We have a great group of up-and-coming young players in Ealey, Caleb King, and others. Chapas is developing into a good fullback; he made some great blocks last night. If we can fix the problems (and they are fixable), who knows, we could be on the radar screen this time next year. Hopefully Bobo and Richt now realize how important the running game is to the passing game. Right now Georgia has a good shot at either the Music City or Liberty Bowls. I’m kinda partial to the Music City Bowl. Having been there myself a few times, Nashville is a great city for the fans to visit (although Memphis isn’t too bad either).

You and some other bloggers have convinced me that the biggest thing we need to do in the off season is to purge you losers and drive you back to where ever you come from. I am going to send my letters to CMR, DE and President Adams and beg them to make no changes in the coaching staff this off season just to make you all sell you season tickets, burn your UGA gear and go absolutly insane (I think some of you are already there).

Great game, Dawgs. Let’s be happy this win, and look forward to next season. It’s obvious that alot of you guys let St. Simons get way too far under your skin with his incessant “45-42″ posts over the last year. We’re better than that, and we should act like we’ve been there before; that’s the same reason coach Richt was mad at Bryan Evans for throwing the gatorade on him. Let GA Tech fans go back to their old reasons for not caring about that game. Good luck against Clemson, GT…try to represent the state well for us. Here’s a tip-keep the ball away from CJ Spiller.

Funny, now UGA knows how it feels to think that their win was soooo important over their ‘rival’… This is usually the position for Tech when we pull off the upset of Mighty UGAy from the SEC (on ESPN). It is a big game, but isn’t all that to Tech fans this year. Sorry to disappoint you mutts. We still have quite a bit to play for, but this was it for UGAy fans/players. Take your little victory and keep spitting nails while we keep playing real football for 2 more games. You also might want to look up what Tech’s #1 goal is/was this year – and let me give you a hint – it’s not beating UGA.

As for Saint Simons, it is remarkable how much that guy got under every one’s skin, but I am glad to say that he should be quiet for a while (at least). Hey, Saint Simons, what’s the good word? SILENCE!

Oh, and “ha!,” one of Tech’s goals this year was to go undefeated at home, so that would mean the Dawgs crushed that goal. However, we are not having the greatest of years – that is, we are not in the hunt for the SEC and National Championship – so I won’t talk much smack. Still, good to win our last game, and it made Thanksgiving that much better.
