Baylie is the readers' choice as the ultimate Bulldogs fan.
Readers have picked a little girl named Baylie as the ultimate Bulldogs fan. And I think that’s a shining example of the true spirit of the Bulldog Nation.
The photo of Baylie with some of the UGA cheerleaders was submitted in the Junkyard Blawg Fan of the Week contest by her dad Mark Symms, a longtime and frequent commenter on the Blawg under the name of “Cuz.” He says, “My daughter Baylie is disabled and unable to attend many games. She is a fervent Dawg fan and we watch on Saturdays together.”
Baylie, who has had to undergo multiple surgeries in her young life, drew 51 percent of the vote in our online poll and numerous expressions of support from readers in the comments, even from the daughter of one of the other contestants.
The Symms family will get three passes to join me in one of the sky boxes at Sanford Stadium on Saturday for the game against Kentucky. Plus, Baylie’s picture will be shown before the game on the big video screen. (When you hear barking coming from the screen, that’s the cue that the Junkyard Blawg spot is beginning; usually it comes right before David Chandley’s game-time weather update.)
That’s it for this season’s contests. Congratulations to Cuz and particularly to Baylie.
Go Dogs!

Wow! I am at a loss for words, which is not common for me. This is a real great honour and gift that the Bulldawg Nation and enemy bloggers, I only mean opposing fans not real enemies, have bestowed upon my daughter. Many of you know that Baylie had to have surgery this year at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN. I lost count a few years back at fifteen as the number of surgeries she has had in her short life. I would guess twenty and some change. This is a wonderful prize for her after having such a rough year. She is very excited about attending her third Bulldawg game. She was the one that told me she won.
Thanks to all who voted for Baylie and thanks to all who have posted such kind comments. This is one reason why I think that College Football Fans are the greatest in the world. And this is the greatest sport in the land.
Thank you, thank you all. You have made one thirteen year old girl feel on top of the world. Her Dad feels very humble and cannot express in words his gratitude.

L-Dawg… ( IN A PREVIOUS BILL QUEEN BLOG )
ONCE THE CHAN GAILEY RECRUITMENT CLASS IS GONE, HE WILL BE UP THE CREEK IN RECRUITING, JUST AS HE WAS AT EVERY STOP ALONG HIS CAREER. SUCCEED EARLY, THEN PANIC BECAUSE NO KID WANTS TO RUN THAT HIGH SCHOOL OFFENSE, AND NEVER PROPEL THEMSELVES PAST THE HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL.
YOU ARE AN IDIOT. The last three CHAN GAILY recruiting classes were 2005 ranked 62nd in the country, 2006 57th in the country and 2007 18th in the country. These are the classes that Chan Gaily recruited that you say are making TECH look so good???? Over the same time span UGA’s classes were 2005 10th 2006 4th 2007 9th. I guess these are the classes making UGA look so good RIGHT? Johnson was recruiting 1 star player’s while he was at Navy now he is getting 3 and 4 star players at GT. You are ignorant when it comes to recruiting. You should do some research before you post something and make yourself look like an idiot.

Congrats to Cuz and Baylie, it sounds like she has endured and long and tough road and deserves this honor. Anyone who has kids can understand how terrifying it is for your child to go to the hospital, much less go for more than 20 surgeries. Bob, I only mentioned she was disabled because she is and has always been from birth. I did not go into details because I thought it would not be fair. Google Baylie Symms and then KT syndrome. She has been fighting her entire life. Thirteen years old, the birth doctors never thought she would make her first. Neo-natal ICU for a week. She has proved them all wrong.

Second. How classless/ignorant/stupid/pathetic do you have to be to argue on THIS particular blog entry? Posters such as L Dawg and zz and j and that ilk are a disgrace to any college/institution they claim to support. The idea of Anonymity and The Internet combining to bring out the worst in people seems safe enough.
Then seeing Dawg fans, tech fans, and auburn fans with decency (ATL AU ALUM) makes you realize that some people actually have class and what REAL college football fans in the South are.

Cuz- Being a Tech Fan, this is the first time I have visited this blog, but I was curious with the headline on the Sports home page. When I saw the picture of your daughter I decided to read on. Congratulations to Baylie and best of luck to her! My late son was an ardent Dawg fan and we enjoyed ribbing each other thru the years until he passed away when he was 25 following a life long illness. In fact, the AJC ran a front page story on him (for a number of reasons) shortly after his passing. Of course, he was wearing his prized Georgia cap in one of the pictures they used with the story. I never pull for UGA, but I will this Saturday night. God speed.

I came back to read some comments about my new friend, Baylie, and have been really touched by the heartfelt sentiments. Well said flagboy, about REAL college football fans in the South. And God speed to you, too, Old School. I can’t imagine suffering the loss of a child (I have 3), nor the struggle to care for a daughter with so much required care. But, bless Baylie’s heart, she is a true inspiration to all, young and old alike. This is no place for dissing rivals, so let me wish everyone the outcomes they’re looking for this Saturday. Like Baylie, may the best in the contest win their games!

Bill, I never mind attacks on me, I throw myself into the ring and I am used to being hit with folding chairs. I am pretty defensive with Baylie. But there have been many others much worse than you. You had forgiveness before you asked for it. This is the way we live, and no, it does not make us better than anyone else. We will imagine you in the stands cheering the triumph and bemoaning the tragedy of the play on the field while infusing our team with your overabundant courage and heart. Hope you both get a photo with UGAVII and team members, especially Curran. I realize that may be physically unaccomplishable, but maybe Bill and others can pull a few well-placed Bulldog strings. The rest of us will cheer mightily for you and Baylie.
