Bobo is not a problem? Did anyone watch the OK State, TN, LSU (first half) games? Poor, predictable play-calling. Penalties. Turnovers. Moreover, Bobo doesn't seem particularly concerned about developing young QBs, RBs, offensive linemen.

shards1967,
I am a huge fan of VanGorder, but he is never coming back. When he left UGA, he said that his ultimate goal was to become a head coach in the NFL. Being an NFL def. coordinator (which he is right now) is his best path to that goal. By the way, BVG tried being a college head coach at GA Southern and that ended horribly. Not only did the Eagles suck while BVG was there, but he also managed to piss off the legendary Erk Russell, the godfather of GA Southern football.

The past couple weeks it has seemed like UGA has been using scripted plays to open games (I remember how well we moved the ball at the beginning of the UF game). I wonder if we are doing that and, if we are, why we don't script the whole game. It seems that our offense starts really well and then becomes stagnant.

Yeah, there's no way Van Gorder or Smart will come back. Why should they? They seem not to get along with Richt. Waving a bigger paycheck doesn't help at those levels when it will get taxed away, anyway. Unless they can be in charge of a program, they'll probably stay put.

I'm wondering if they'll demote Willie and move Garner up, just to keep all MR's homies in place.

B Van Gorder is tough as nails and he and Richt were at odds with Van Gorder's style. Same with that now departed UGA O line coach who moved over to the U of A - B'ham, as head coach.

Anyway ...........Van Gorder is our man. He wants the head job somewhere and it might as well be at UGA. He could bring in some top NFL caliber kick butt coaches and they would elevate the program, which has become stale and rancid. It would tkae them two complete years but by 2013 UGA would be in the hunt for the SEC and the rest that comes with that deisignation.

I do kknow that ricth cannot coach to the highest levels NOW in the SEC. The conference has changed right before Mark's eyes and he ( we ) did not recognize it. Change is due whether UGA wins the next 4, including some sad lil bowl in Shreveport.

It is time for a major, major over haul, or this time next year ............we WILL dump them all after another horrible year.

UGA, Class of 71 & 73

Tailback U,
I agree with you that there have been some games where Bobo needed a bit more running and less passing. But watching games across the country, I could say the same thing about most offensive coordinators. NFL guys too. Check out a Denver Broncos game some time, and you'll see Knowshon pick up a first down and then they switch to the pass and the drive dies.

Richt tried the no-huddle offense his first year at UGA but abandoned it because the refs kept penalizing UGA for not allowing defenses time to reset. Richt scratched his head and said he'd never seen that penalty called in the ACC...

I never thought Bobo was the issue, either. He is still a little inexperienced though. The problem with the offense aside from Cox is that the play of the defense dictates what the offense will try to do. How many of you actually dread a big play by our Offense? I do. While it is great to see Smith run 60 yrds for a TD, I jkust know what will happen once the Defense gets back on the field. If you think about it, the D does not rally give up alot of yardage on big plays. No 50,60,70 yrd plays. Just 10-15 that eat up clock as well as gather first downs for the oppisition.
