(Georgiadogs.com)
With Saturday’s game between the Dogs and Tennessee Tech available only as a pay-per-view telecast on cable and satellite systems in Georgia and Tennessee, fans outside those two states will be out of luck. Even the PPV Webcast available through Georgiadogs.com’s GXtra subscription service will be limited to residents of Georgia and Tennessee.
For those who do live in those two states and aren’t going to Athens for the game, the price for individual homes is $29.95, and commercial establishments can purchase the game for $400. The GXtra Webcast is available to nonsubscribers for $19.95 and to regular GXtra subscribers for $14.95.
The production is being handled by CSS, which does the Sunday morning cable replays of Georgia games, with Matt Stewart handling play by play, Buck Belue as the color analyst and Sandra Golden doing sideline reports.
With the Dogs suffering through a disappointing season, this game against a 1-AA opponent from the Ohio Valley Conference is expected to mean more empty seats than usual at Sanford Stadium — though probably not as many as there would be if this weren’t Homecoming. Is the match-up between Mark Richt’s 4-4 Dogs and Watson Brown’s 5-3 Golden Eagles compelling enough that you should shell out for the PPV?
Well, that depends on the depths of your devotion to the Dogs and whether you find listening to Scott Howard and Eric Zeier on the radio sufficient. It is worth noting, though, that the last time Brown brought a team Between the Hedges, Georgia barely beat his UAB contingent 16-13. Of course, Tennessee Tech is no UAB. But they are a pass-happy offense, and with Georgia’s secondary that can always lead to some unintended excitement.
And there’s also the edge-of-your-seat anticipation of Georgia actually making it through a game this season without Joe Cox throwing an interception — though let’s be clear here: I’m not flatly predicting that will happen. I just like the odds.
So, if you live in Georgia or Tennessee, do you plan to buy the PPV or not? And if not, why not? Share your thoughts in the comments, vote in the poll or go whole hog and do both.
(Addendum: The 16-13 game actually wasn’t the last time Watson Brown brought UAB to Sanford Stadium. That was 2003 and UAB again played Georgia three years later, losing 34-0.)

Not willing to pay for the Florida, Auburn or Tech VS. UGA this year…….It hurts to bad. I said after the Tennessee game I would judge Mark Richt by how this team reacts the rest of the year. First test, Florida. How’ed we do ?

Every Dawg fan I talk to say’s the same thing. ” I can take a hard fought lose, what I can’t take is a total break down of all phases of the game and a beat down against every decent team we play”. Beating a down Vandy team does nothing for me.

Months ago, I told my wife and a few friends that I’d buy the game this weekend. I talked to them all again yesterday and it was unanimous…the decision that gives us the best chance to have fun is not watching Georgia football.
I can give my kid a yellow flag to throw up in the air and watch him run around falling down in his UGA jersy for free!!

Go to Rival.com and read interview of Richt about our ” problems”. doesn’t sound like a man looking to replace some staff. Hope somebody ” above” him has a different view. The interview was from YESTERDAY before practice. It’s the Georgia Rivals site.

Absolutely, This could be our last win this year. I’ve already contributed thousands, what’s another $29. I do feel bad for the coaches, how do they live on those measly million dollar salaries?

If Georgia had a football team, I would pay to watch. This poorly coached and undermotivated group of so called athletes is not worth hard earned money. They have not earned the right to be watched. UGA now means Underacheiving Georgia Athletics.

Expect ESPN360 and ESPN GamePlan to be blacked out in GA to protect the PPV and GXtra revenue streams. Fans in other states are NOT out of luck as the game will be available to ESPN360 and ESPN GamePlan subscribers outside GA. See this: http://assets.espn.go.com/gameplan/images/2009/blackout/293110061.jpg

The Game is availavle thru ESPN game plan in S.C. If I can watch the basketball team score 40 points or fewer, I can certainly watch this. Golf is too expensive and crowded on the weekends this time of year.

Have we ever played a team where Richt didn’t compliment them? We could be playing the worst team in the NCAA, and he would find something great to say about them. Won’t be watching or listening to this game. The way we’ve played this year, I couldn’t care less.
