jerry,

How many fumbles did Herschel have in that '81 Clemson game in which you single out Buck for criticism? Obviously you are also unaware that Clemson went on to win the National Championship that year when their defense shut down a Nebraska offense made up of players that played on one of the greatest offenses of all time (in '83). You don't have the slightest clue about that, or, apparently, much of anything else having to do with UGA football.

Those of you trying to put down Buck for having been "nothing more" than the quarterback who handed the ball off when Herschel was here reflect poorly on yourselves and display your ignorance of Georgia football and Buck's contributions to the program. You obviously have forgotten or conveniently choose to overlook the '78 Tech game where Buck led us to one of the all-time great come-from-behind wins in UGA history. What about the one-of-a-kind pass to Lindsey Scott to win the Fla game to preserve the National Championship run? Yes, Buck had a terrible Sugar Bowl game passing against one of the great defenses of that era, but when he absolutely had to do it he completed the pass that allowed us to run out the clock. The next season he had one of the greatest seasons passing by a Georgia quarterback of anyone who had played up until Eric Zeier came to Georgia.

You can criticise his comments all you want but he was one of our all-time greats, and he deserves respect and to be treated as such.

Conditioning DOES really factor in when our totally inept offense keeps our defense on the field 2/3 of the game, if not longer, with all these damn 3 & outs.

To call out fans for not settling for absolute mediocrity is totally irrational. Like Herm Edwards said, "YOU PLAY To WIN THE GAME". While the fans my not be "playing", they are paying in terms of money, time, and emotional investment and they want their team to succeed. If it is blatantly obvious that parts of the organization are holding it back then it is only natural for the fans to call for change.

Last year the fans showed up in force for the ill advised blackout against Bama, but the football team did not. This was not because of player talent (we were ranked #1 for a reason), but because of poor game planning and preparation by the coaching staff. Yes injuries played a part, but not a big enough one to go down by 30 points in the first half.

Everyone knows CMW is inadequate, all we need to do is look at how VanGorder allowed 30+ points less than 5 times during his tenure while has done that 4 time THIS SEASON. As for Bobo he too is not a top 10 team coordinator. With the loaded offense of Stafford, Moreno, Green, Massoqui, and Southerland last year there is no excuse for not being on of the most prolific offenses in the country, and this falls squarely on Bobo with his mundane play calling.

If a team has top 10 recruiting classes for the past 5+ years there is not excuse for not being ranked. The talent is there, but the coaching, discipline and leadership are not. The only real difference between UF and UGA is the quality of the coaching staff. Dan Mullen was hired to be the head man at an SEC school, and Charley Strong would probably be able to coach at a school even better than Miss State if he wanted to. Would any other school in the SEC hire Bobo or Willie even as coordinator? Probably not. The only reason they have those jobs is because Bobo played here and Willie and CMR are best friends.

Richt and the UGA fan base need to understand that in order compete for a National Title you EXCELLENCE in every aspect of an organization. The Gators constantly strive for it in, but UGA does not.

I like Richt but if he is not willing to make the necessary changes in order to be the best he has to go, because if you aren't doing everything possible to be the best then you are failing.

If Buk Blu(sounds like a porn star) is an "IGNORAMUS" and a "BLIND HOMER" what is the "Hershel Talker"? Likely, some one that still lives in 1980, loves Vince Dooley more than his family, and listens to Larry Munson tapes in his beat up Pick-up. This blogging is fun!!

CulaDawg, You AIN'T coming back with the Rev in charge and he even throws it in your face with his insistence on retaining assistant coaches that even the REAL Georgia Jock Sniffers would recognize as CHALLENGED!! This guy cares more about the loyalty to his buddies than he does those people Buckie criticizes for leaving early.

BUT!! I'm glad you are happy and OPTIMISTIC that Markie will have you back--in the next28 years??

As a Florida alum this year has really not been fun. When it is recognized by players, coaches, fans and media that anything less than a National Championship is a disappointment, well it is extremely stressful. You guys are lucky---Because you love those 9 win seasons and they are even a cause for recognizing Richt's genius. NEVER do you factor in the ALLEGED Top 5 Recruiting Classes the guy has, the schedule that EVERY year includes Vandy, South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee(Florida 14-6 last 20 years) and a Homecoming Dog. That is 5 wins right there--IT SHOULD BE 5 WINS----Therefore if he goes 4-3 in the competitive games he is 9-3!!!!!!!!!! A Genius!!! A BRilliant coach!!

Have you noticed that Richt has NEVER got a sniff from the NFL! Do you really believe that is because of the NFL recognizing the "Loyalty" Mark feels for UGA?? I don't think so. and you don't either.

Hey, maybe he goes 9-4 again and you can say "What's the problem"

Just compare Richt to his father figure at Tallahassee and you will notice the similarities in stubborness and absurd level of loyalty to assistants. At least Mark appears to have no silly sons who he has flaunted state nepotism laws by employing as an assistant coach. I guess I should recognize Booby's 2 National Championships. Of course those 2 National Championships in his 34 years at FSU equal the 2 in Meyer's now 5th year at Florida.

Boobby Layne put a hex on the Lions after they traded him to the Steelers in the 50's. Think it was a 100 year hex. The hex involved Lions not seeing a championship game. Since the hex the Lions have won 1 playoff game in the last 52 years. They defeated Dallas in Aikman's rookie year. Think of that!!! 1!!!!!!! playoff win in 52 years.

Stafford NEVER had a chance.
