Richt's FSU style offense is old news. Fullbacks ?? Come On !! The game has changed. We need a totally new offensive scheme and plays. Defense ?? Total embarrassment. Strength and Conditioning ? Where is it ?? Look at the fat, slow slobs on our line. I think our team has quit on him, because they know they can't compete running the same predictable plays.

People have made some good points here. When I roll it all around in my mind, I keep coming up with the inescapable conclusion that Richt should be fired before the football program goes completely off the map. He's clearly not one of the top 3-4 coaches in the SEC, and anything less than that will not take UGA back to the competitive ranks.

So the question is will Dawg fans start to get comfortable with 7-5 or 8-4 seasons and playing in minor bowls, or will we demand more? From the turmoil that I see on the blogs, Dawg Nation is demanding more - much more. So do we want to have Mark Richt doing more of the same, in which case, we'll be having these same conversations a year from now, or do we demand that Richt be fired, followed by an all-out search for a coach who can win in Athens? And by the way, a coach who will recruit players with more class and intelligence than Richt has been recruiting.

Kev - If we don't make major changes, we will certainly see "two or three years of this crap." In fact, I submit that we saw some of "this crap" last year, to wit: Alabama, Florida and Tech games. Those 3 games were clear indicators that CWM had to go. Any body paying attention could see that. What happened? CMR gave CWM a raise!! Now that's what I call "crap."

BTW, I've already seen enough of "this crap."

Again, UGA under CMR has more wins in the last ten years than any SEC team...........so we wanna fire him??????? Thats stupidity ! Two or three years of this crap and I will be in front of the line for the firing ceremony, but UGA fans need to give this guy his due repspect and the credit he deserves. If we act like idiots, we will never be able to hire a decent coach(if we need one), because a good coach will not put up with this crap! Look at Richt's record.....none of the clowns that coach in the SEC has that record over ten years.....so go pull for Paul Johnson and Ga. Tech if you just like riding bandwagons!

Why people are reluctant to say get rid of Richt is troublesome to me. Doesn't the man in charge bear the responsibility for what his subordinates do? In that case, CEO Richt has been a total failure. He's a stubborn guy. Starting Joe Cox, for one, is a disaster. He's gone in four games. So what happens if Joe goes down, or Gray goes down? Anybody got an answer? Richt is in over his head. He just flat out has lost his edge as a coach. I find him incredibily detached and unaware of what is going on. He's lost control of the team that he promised would tackle harder and cut down on the penalties. We haven't done the former and we're at or near to the top of being the worst in the FCS. Why would anybody want to retain such a person who has presided over the sinking of the Titannic? Why would we expect to have highly qualified DCs, OCs lining up to come to UGA? And coach for some who's delusional? Hardly. This is a disaster that's already happening and shows no signs of abating.

Fire Mark Richt. Fire Mark Richt. HE is the problem! It all rolls down hill, folks.

It's a downward trend that started in '05, in my opinion. Georgia blew a coverage on a 4th and 10 play and consequently blew the Auburn game. Against a decent but not great Florida team, we found out how good the team was after losing just one player - Shockley - to injury. We had a complete team meltdown in the Sugar Bowl against WVU - only a second half comeback after WVU appeared to go to sleep prevented a total embarrassment. We backed into the SEC title game, then beat a probably superior LSU team that was exhausted from playing for the 12th straight week after Katrina messed up their schedule.

In '06 Georgia barely survived at home against the worst Colorado team in more than 25 years and lost to Vandy and Kentucky. In '07, Georgia played anemic football at home against a mediocre South Carolina team, got run out of the stadium at Tennessee (a place Richt once owned), and barely survived a second straight loss to Vandy. Then, the infamous endzone dance in the Florida win. Florida turned out to be pretty average that year, and the dance shows that Richt had probably lost control of the program. Georgia had a great second half run which caused many to forget just how terrible the team was in the first half of the season.

In '08 we had embarrassing losses to Alabama and Florida. In both cases, Georgia got rocked (1st half against Bama, 2nd against UF), and didn't respond. That same year we reached the defensive lowpoint - 29 points and a ton of yards in a single half against Georgia Tech. To many observers the defense appeared to quit. Horrible fundamentals, like tackling, were exposed.

This year, more of the same. Without Moreno and Stafford, Georgia appears to have no heart, leadership, or composure (not that those traits were displayed in abundance while they were here).

I think the program has been in trouble for quite a few years, and it's finally beginning to show in terms of the W-L record. Stop the uniform gimmicks and get back to football.

Why don't we go get Ron English from Eastern Michigan? He was a solid DC at Michigan, University of Louisville and may be ready, after a disappointing season as a head coach to return to the defensive side of the ball.

"good call coach to start Cox again ..look out for Tn Tech, could be your App State"
App state was a FCS power house and beat an overated Michigan
TTU is 5-3 in the FCS

"UGA is mediocre at best and has been for several years. Meyer, Saban and Miles are just as good as Richt at recruiting. The difference is the coaching and winning attitudes at the elite SEC programs."
LOL the past few years Georgia has been a top 10 team with numerous 10 win seasons the only reason UGA has not got it done is because when they are very good 02,05, and 07 they get cheated out
