Dogs’ offense is at least efficient

Amid all the gloom about the state of UGA football, here’s an item that might make you smile … or just shake your head.
Georgia’s offense might not be the SEC’s most successful in terms of wins, but as of Week 9 of the season it tops MrSEC.com’s “pure efficiency” rating.
The rating is derived by taking the total offensive snaps run by a unit in conference games and dividing that number by the total number of touchdowns recorded by that offense. That tells you how many plays each offense needs (on average) to score a touchdown in SEC play, MrSEC says.
The Dogs have 18 touchdowns in 359 plays, or 19.94 plays per touchdown against SEC foes. I guess it helps the efficiency rating that more often than not this season Georgia hasn’t been a grind-it-out offense on scoring drives.
Georgia is followed in the Top 5 by Arkansas (20.56), Tennessee (21.60), Florida (26.53) and Auburn (27).
Dead last is Vandy, which has only scored three offensive touchdowns so far this season against SEC defenses. Of course, the Commodores scored that many Saturday against ACC foe Georgia Tech. …

So UGA takes fewer plays to score. I would also like see the # of 3 and out compared to the SEC. Remember 6 to UT and 6 to LSU.
Everyone knows UGA can score on the big play but can’t make a long multi play drive.
UT’s offense is #3 in the stat. I don’t think I would want to rival UT’s offense in many stats.
It is deeply annoying to see the homers keep making excuses for Bobo but want to usher CWM as the only problem.

Okay so Vince Vance recently got arrested and was bonded out of jail for $1,000 and then Vince Cuff got arrested and was bonded out for $1750 so I want to know who bails these guys out of jail and where do they get the money? Is it the coaches or alumni? I think we are going to investigate these incidents and there could possibly be some violations here.

Alumni – Coach Richt here and I just want to let you know that we are having a good season. I continue to receive my paychecks every week and have been paid about $2 Million dollars so far this year. We have some good games left, 4 of them I believe and I will receive the rest of the $1 million dollars owed to me. 4-4 isn’t to bad in the SEC and I am getting paid a reasonable amount, about $250,000 a game. I know the average American family brings home $45,000 a year but getting these wins has been real stressful for me and my wife. Anyway I have to go and shoot another Ford commercial so Go Dawgs,

Look folks, i am red and black through and through, but, if all we have is to look at our PAST, and stats of this and that, then my friends, we are hurting. I am no coach norr claim to be and it would be ignorant to sit here and say we need to do this or that. Someone needs to do something! When we USED to win, we never talked “stats”, they didn’t matter. Now we are lsoing on a regular basis and all we can do is talk stats???…lets get real, we stink this year plain and simple. I do give Tech the hats off for having a great year, we dawgs do need to show some class and give credit where credit is due. Don’t even bother about schedule, SEC, ACC…..BS!! 8-1 vs 4-4. It is as simple as that.

Offense efficiency paid off for Miami against Ga. Tech’s defense, but not so for everybody else. The time of possession in Ga. Tech’s favor has worn down the opposing defenses.
Willie M. has to think about this, too. Single coverage by the cornerbacks on every play against 6′3″ 230 lb. D. Thomas and 6′4″ 200 lb. S. Hill. Try to slip a double in there, and a) Ga. Tech has the numbers advantage on the triple option and/or b) CPJ will send an A back on a short or deep post.

What a depressing board today….gets worse after every loss…losing is no fun….but it’s the way we’ve been losing..very frustrating.. I was excited when we came back to make 14-10 Saturday….but that didn’t last long…not long at all…I was stupid enough to think we would come back and make it a game…..Can the dawgs finish 6-6 and be bowl eligible or do they need to finish 7-5..??? anyone know..?

Can it get much worse for Georgia? The Bulldogs just lost for the 17th time in 20 seasons to Florida, have to be wondering if they can make it to a bowl game and Georgia Tech is a top 10 BCS team. Yuck. On top of that, there are calls for Joe Cox to be benched and for Willie Martinez to be shipped out. And they wore those ugly helmets for motivation and went out and got hammered. Not a good time to be a Bulldog fan. Oh yeah, they did their dance on the sideline after they cut the UF lead to 14-10 and had a 15-yard penalty on the ensuing kickoff. Double yuck. I actually liked the helmets. Much better than Tennessee’s black jerseys. At least the Vols won.

Ugh, this is the wrong blog to make this comment on, but what a stupid statistic. Efficiency also needs to measure number of possessions; based on that stat, our efficiency rating only shows that we don’t create sustained drives (especially when compared to average starting position.)

If it’s a down year due to lack of talent, losing star players, etc, I can handle that. Those years happen. But it’s the consistent lack of discipline, lack of adjusting, bad defense over and over again that kills me. The coaches had 2 WEEKS to prepare for this game and the team once again showed all the usual signs.

There is only one stat that counts; wins. who cares about the rest. As bad as we play and as mad as I am about it I still want to win the next four games. It is a long shot but wouldn’t it be great to beat Tech in the year they win the ACC Championship? All we can hope for is to be the spoiler.
Believe me, the smart Tech fans know the Dawgs are better than their record and if they ever play a mistake free game they can be real competitive. Maybe we’ll get lucky and put it together against them.

Time for Richt to go! I’m tired of looking at him on the sideline. He’s a subpar coach folks. Mark runs a dinosaur offense and we all know about his defense. The guy poses on the sidelines and worries about his hair. Yes his hair! Watch him on the sidelines! Also he checking out the chicks in stands and seeing if they’re checking him out. Stop worrying about you looks Richt and start coaching mannn! The whole christian thing is fake in my opinion. He hides behind that persona. Maybe he should teach Sunday school? How about his Southern Accent? I remember his first press conference when he came to town and Mark had no southern accent then three months later he came up with this thick fake southern accent. I think it time we bring in Bryan Kelly or Jon Gruden. We need a tough coach with emotion. Richt makes me want to fall asleep watching him on the sidelines. This guy is a fraud and fake holyroller. He needs to go now!

The coaches are at practice every day with these guys. If we had a better QB than Cox at this time I would have to believe he would get some playing time.
Richt sat Joe T III down and played Stafford. So much for loyalty. I can only guess that the young guns are not quite ready.

I know it’s just a dream,but I sure would like to have seen what would have happened at the 5 min. mark of second quarter with the score 17-10 and The Dawgs with the ball after a good defensive stop,allowing a fieldgoal and having a good runback.On first down #24 have a 12 yard gain and we have a firstdown on our 40 and low and behold one of those convient holding calls that CK from Tenn mentioned happens and instead of a firstdown at our 40,we are back inside of our 20 with long yardage.Fla stops us,they score right before half and there goes the game.So instead of us possibly driving down and hopefully scoring and making it 17-13,or 17-17 at half,and getting the second half kickoff,we go in at half doiwn 24-10.I wonder what would have happened if that holding call had not conviently appeared.That is my dream and I will never know.GO DAWGS

I hope our coaches do not study anything this week as that has proved ineffective. Just put 11 players out on the field and tell them to pretend this is a pickup game and we will crush them, and everybody else on our schedule. I am a GA fan, but attended UC 86-88 and we used to play pick up games at Nippert Stadium on Sundays. We always played 11 on 11, man to man defense and as a DB/WR I never remember anyone being more than 2-3 feet away from a WR, who if caught a pass would be quickly tackled. Why is playing D so hard! UC has never had a top 50 recruiting class, but they play sound fundamental football. I really really do not understand what is going on at GA. I never coached or played organized HS football although my son (15, 6′2” 180 does now ) I have watched his team win and loose over the past 7 years and still do not think football is rocket science. Block, tackle and execute the game plan, I do not pretend to be a coach but it seems so simple, cover wide receivers and tackle players in front of you. Please help me understand what I am missing with Georgia.

Joe Cox is not tall enough or have the arm strength to move the ball except on short yardage situations.Our running game is lacking substance.In my opinion the (O) lost the game saturday and that is all I have to say until next year.GOOD LUCK.

cinci – coaches put players in positions to make plays. Our DC is not able to run the 3 – 4 defense which is what most successful colleges use. This is not the same league it was 8 years ago. Its much much better. TN is about to blow the lid off recruiting. Ga’s coach’s salaries match their abilities.

Its called Vanilla efficient. BoBo needs to go back to QB coach. CMR needs to lure Sonny Dykes from Arizona as O C . Willie, Fabris and the strength coach needs to be replaced as well. Muschamp wont come, maybe a Kirby Smart for Defensive Coordinator. Dawgs need new Blood bottom line or its more of the same as UGA will get blown out here and there and struggle with the programs of mediocrity in the likes of South Carolina. If Richt refuses to make changes then he too needs to be shown the door.

I feel compelled to comment on two recent announcements;
1. Green, you are a terriffic talent and one of the finest receivers in the country. I hope you recover quickly and am sorry you will not have the chance to juice those stats against Tenn Tech. You deserve better than the coaching you are receiving. We are fortunate you are a Dawg. Best of luck.
2. Cox, you have much more talent than you are being given credit for. You are not the problem. The coaches are the problem. Joe Namath could be our QB and we would still be 4-4 my friend. Having said that I believe that it is time to shift you and Murray every other series to open the door for him for next season.
I hope Dawg Nation sees / reads how Richt administers as a Head Coach. Something to the effect of, “We took a vote and all agree Cox should stay as QB”. Richt doesn’t have the experience and is not tough enough to call the shots himself – he needs his buddies to give him an answer or go along with him. He has just proven he is not qualified to continue as an SEC Head Coach.
Please resign Mr. Richt and take MarBoFab with you to Hawaii. You can replace June Jones.

Where to start? The time has come to see what Logan can do at QB. I realize Joe is well-respected among the team, but we have witnessed what Joe is capable of. Logan needs experience and offers a more run to his position. I feel we need to keep the red-shirts on Mett and Murray.
Bobo- I can’t understand his thinking. Against UF, 2nd and 17 and we run Samuel up the middle out of a 2 WR set?????????? Somebody please explain this to me. Another favorite play of mine, the screen play to a fullback???? Our full-backs run like potted-plants!!

I agree with Herschel. L-Dawg is an annoying as they come. But Saint Simons is just as bad if not worse.
