For Dogs, the colors were black … and blue

Is Joe Cox pointing to the next Gator he'll be throwing the ball to? (Bob Andres / AJC)

Florida defeated the Georgia Bulldogs again Saturday in Jacksonville with a large assist from … the Georgia Bulldogs.

After spotting the Gators two touchdowns in the first quarter, Georgia managed to pull back within four points. But the two bugaboos that have plagued the Dogs all season derailed any chance of staying in the game: penalties and turnovers.

The Dogs had eight penalties in the first half. They fixed that problem in the second half, drawing only one flag, but switched to their other favorite way of shooting themselves in the foot, turnovers, with four.

I don’t think that’s what they had in mind when Mark Richt and his staff have said the Dogs need to play “balanced” football.

Starter Joe Cox was lifted halfway through the fourth quarter after throwing his third pick of the half, and then we got the answer to the question of why we haven’t seen more of Logan Gray at QB this season. He is an absolutely terrible passer. The interception he threw from the Georgia end zone to Brandon Spikes, who literally walked in for a score, should become part of an instructional video on how not to play quarterback.

There were positives in the game for the Dogs, mainly in the second quarter when they showed their resiliency and threatened to make a game of it. While Florida looked on its first two drives like it was going to move the ball at will, the Georgia defense stiffened after that and was doing what it could to keep the game in hand, considering the Gators have Tim Tebow. But the second half giveaway staged by Cox and the Georgia offense put the defense in an untenable position, giving Florida a short field too many times. And Mike Bobo actually called a decent game, mixing up the run and pass and moving the ball … until a penalty or turnover would kill the drive.

Basically, the lack of discipline that has characterized recent Richt teams undercut everything good that they did. It’s tough enough to beat a team like Florida if you play your best football. Make that many mistakes and it’s impossible.

One last thought: I’m sure the idiot fringe of Dogs fandom will blame the loss on Georgia reviving the black britches for the first time in 11 years and breaking out black helmets for the first time in UGA history. That’s asinine. The color of what you’re wearing doesn’t cause you to commit penalties or turn the ball over.

Florida won because they’re the better team. But Georgia made it easy for them with too many stupid mistakes.

In Florida’s eyes, UGA is no more of a threat than South Carolina or Kentucky.
Since 1990- UGA 3-17, USC 1-19, UK 0-17.
What’s the difference?!

Uniform was okay. Coaching was plain aweful. Players were unprepared and still makes too many mistake.

Time to put in new blood. CRM is just an AVG. coach. Time to get rid of him and find somebody that demand respect and pride of the GA traditions.

UGA Fans might not have any saying with the school’s board, but when they stop donating and buying season tickets. The AD better have a back up plans, because he’ll be wating in line for unemployment check like millions of people.

Fire CMR now instead of prolonging it.

When my team gets beat, I hit the rack and see what tomorrow brings. I’ve watched UGA for years and in the past 3 seasons I’ve seen team discipline go downhill. That’s a testament to the coaching staff as well as some of the players lacking self-control. It will get better when the HC takes control. You gotta go to the top but too many only see the ‘away from the field’ goodness in their HC. I see it a bit different once it hits the field and when I see the pot calling the kettle black, it becomes a testament to some of the fanbase as well. On the outside, we call it blind loyalty. Alas, we’re all guilty…Congrats to all the victors today.

As bad as everyone thinks Joe Cox has been this year, and I think his performance has been fair overall and good at times, I’m really concerned about next year at QB because Logan Gray was absolutely horrible in relief! His passes were pathetic and he is clearly not the answer for the future. At least Cox came in and won the Colorado game in 2006.By the way. Tennessee Tech is not a BCS team and thus a win against them would not be counted toward Bowl eligibility. This should have been taken into consideration when this schedule was made! We may not even make it to a Bowl this year!

General…to me it is about being an active coach or a passive coach. A passive coach prepares a team on what to do when bad things happen. This tells the team “We Expect you to screw up.” An active coach prepares a team to prevent those bad things from happening.

If Richt spent as much time on teaching kids to not screw up as he does on poise and regrouping…we’d be a good team!

Brandon Spikes deserves to be suspended for the rest of the season for his INTENTIONAL attempt to SERIOUSLY INJURE another player. Coach Mark Richt needs to bench some of our players for a game or two for their personal foul penalties also. But, they were not even close to what Spikes did.

GatorGirl needs to leave and never return. She personifies every Gator fan, player, coach who has no class.

General Neyland, you obviously missed the late hit and helmet-to-helmet contact by Spikes on Ealey that in FACT started the whole thing. As others have pointed out, shouldn’t you be somewhere else enjoying your own win against USC, rather than trying to be an expert on OUR game.

Dear Mr. Evans,

It has come to the attention of the UGA fans that the current UGA football team really sucks. We have been understanding. We have been told at the end of last season after the Michgan State game that the defense would be better this season. We were told that more discipline would be coming and the number of flags thrown against the team would be reduced. Mr Evans, the program has not executed on either of these this year. We are now the laughing stock of the SEC and ACC. GT stands to win more SEC games than GA.

Mr Evans this was once a proud, tradition rich program. Now its a program for clowns. You have some tough personnel decisions to make. Make them quickly and lets get on with rebuilding this program before it is too late.

Let them sit on the bench for several plays. Cant get any worse. The talent is there, the coaching is letting Dawg Nation and the team down. How do you play off the receiver 15 yds and he still beats you by 10 yards down the field. They dont understand (coaching) what their assignments are????? Put in a freshmen or a walk on or anyone that can pick up on the play calling or get rid of the coach.

Lame black helmets.

Lame coaching staff.

Lame offensive play calling.

Lame defensive game plan; for God’s sake, they only have 1 player to defend against.

Alabama and Florida continue on at Number 1 and Number 2 in the nation.

LSU won again, has only 1 LOSS still, and also is CONSIDERABLY better than UGA in the Coach Richt Era.

Texas undefeated and the best football program in the Coach Richt Era.

Boise State won again and clearly is a better football program than UGA in the Coach Richt Era.

Southern California LOST and is still 10 fewer LOSSES than UGA in the Coach Richt Era.

Oklahoma won again, and is still way better than UGA in the Coach Richt Era.

Ohio State won again, and is still way better than UGA in the Coach Richt Era.

Average Number 6 Recruiting Class according to Rivals and Scout.com in Coach Richt Era because the state of Georgia has the 4th most high school football players who go on to the NFL.

WORST “coaching staff” in the nation by far. A lame group of college roommates and buddies who sit around and pray together, but are clueless on offense, special teams and defense; and frankly on recruiting positions which are huge glaring holes on our teams every single year of Coach Richt Era.

41-17.

Abysmal.

Special teams, we cannot even line up 11 players on a field goal try by our “Rival.”

Special teams, we did not even try to field a punt all night long.

Out-rushed 2 to 1.

Again.

LEAD THE NATION IN PENALTIES of all 120 teams.

Coach Richt says “when I was at Florida State, we led the nation in penalties, every year and we did alright.”

Sorry “coaching” of our boys.

The real shame is we have some real talent on this team. Players who will play in the NFL.

You’d NEVER KNOW IT, watching them play here the way we “coach” them.

121 arrests and suspensions in the Coach Richt Era. 2 more this week, Georgia week, our “Rival” Florida calls it. Coach Richt didn’t even SUSPEND 1 of the 2 arrested THIS WEEK.

LEAD THE NATION IN TURNOVERS of all 120 teams.

Our players tackle and throw down their opponents, standing beyond the 5 foot white out-of-bounds lines LOSING by 4 touchdowns.

Our players can not even be told which 11 are supposed to be on the field against a field goal try.

Our players get up after a play is over and hit, push, shove, jaw at our opponents and have no respect for anything but looking like a bunch of thugs who are poor sports.

We purposely knock down our Opponents’ Heisman Trophy Quarterback AFTER THE PLAY IS WHISTLED DEAD without him even having the football. 5 seconds after the play would have been legal.

EMBARRASSING.

We run players out there willy-nilly like in Week 8 we do NOT YET KNOW who should be our running back. Take the redshirt off 1 of the running backs touted as 1 of the top in the nation, in week 6 with 3 quarters of the game OVER. Before that, we got to watch KNOWSHON MORENO play only 2 years here before the NFL took him with the Number 7 pick in the 1st Round. But, our “offensive coaches” cannot figure out that he should NOT BE REDSHIRTED.

Special teams kick-off returns, we got the ball to the 9 or 11 yard line all night long. Nice.

What kind of special teams’ coaching is that ?

We allowed a 56 yard field goal against us, LOSING by 4 touchdowns.

I presume our “coaching staff” did not feel that we should be trying to block that 1 with AJ Green.

Interviewed Coach Richt at half time and they ask how do they get AJ Green more involved in the offense. Coach Richt says throw the ball to him more. Excuse me, who is the offensive coordinator any more for this team, Coach Richt since that is YOUR STOCK IN TRADE for your CALLING, sir.

4-4.

UNRANKED.

Every team starting 1997 for UGA has been ranked in the Final AP Poll Top 25.

NOT THIS YEAR.

NOT that we should have been ranked in the Final AP Poll Top 25 in 2001, in 2006, in 2008, and in 2009.

Coach Richt says that our FANS DO NOT KNOW.

Fans of UGA number the 5th most in the nation who spend the 3rd most on team gear and we get this “coaching staff” the average Number 6 recruiting ranking by EVERY SOURCE including Rivals and Scout.com.

We travel better than every team in the nation.

BUT WE DO NOT KNOW, Coach Richt whines after EVERY LOSS.

So, he sends his players out there in an us against the world mentality and NO GAME PLAN. Instead, he is OFF WATCHING HIS SON play Division III football.

5 touchdowns, half of his total in his career, every year scored against UGA by Tim Tebow. 1 player on their entire team to defend against. And, he scores 4 more touchdowns against us this year.

NOT A CARE IN THE WORLD.

Take your furlough day off and your “coaching staff” and then go watch Division III football games out of state, instead of figuring it out how you have a LOSING RECORD against top teams and a LOSING RECORD against 2 teams from The SEC East and The SEC West in your 8 years and 8 weeks here in the Coach Richt Era of WORTHLESS “coaching staff.”

4 of 12 on 3rd down conversions by the offensive offense. On 3rd and long the announcers are left saying, the reason why UGA is calling a running play (WITHOUT A RUNNING BACK) is that they are AFRAID to ask their 4 Top 10 Quarterbacks in the nation to throw the ball downfield.

Yank Joe Cox whom Coach Richt has repeatedly said is HIS QUARTERBACK. Really Coach Richt, have you coached him yourself 1 damn minute in his 5 years here ? Doesn’t look like it.

Put in another Top 10 Quarterback, also not coached, and he throws the football 3 yards from his end zone to the best player on Florida’s defense. Not a receiver for UGA in the picture.

Nice.

At least we can put to rest that the NEXT COACHING STAFF at my alma mater can move along to Aaron Murray and forget this crap that we have coached and brought along Logan Gray with his 1 play for 3 games experience, all running plays.

At least we got Logan Gray in there to find that out.

Now.

Aaron Murray will play here what ?

2 years like Knowshon Moreno.

Logan Gray zero for 3 on passes, with a PICK 6 interception and a SACK.

Great coaching to finally let him play in a game, Coach Richt.

Jerk.

3 passes.

We threw 3 passes to AJ Green.

We tried a 4th pass, out of 70 plays, but it was into quad coverage. 4 Florida players man on man against AJ Green on the play. A 5th who jumped up trying to disrupt the pass in flight before it got to him and a 6th who was just to the left of that defender. And, we threw the ball to him anyway.

Nice play call their Coach Richt, who has MADE HIS CALLING in THIS WORLD as play caller, offensive coordinator and Quarterbacks’ Coach.

Only had 4 punts.

That is an improvement.

We are like a Vandy now, where our best player is visibly our DAMN PUNTER.

Only had 4 punts, because we never had the ball because we lead the nation in penalties playing BAD BOYS and therefore cannot sustain a drive, and because we lead the nation in turnovers and don’t have to punt when you turn the football over every series on offense.

But, of course, it is just Willie Martinez who has to go.

B.S.

17 wins 20 LOSSES against Final AP Poll Top 25 teams that year we played them in the Coach Richt Era.

15-17 LOSING RECORD against LSU, Auburn, vols and Florida combined in Coach Richt Era.

Well, well, well. All hell has broken lose around the weenie dawg nation. Quick, hit the panic button. I’m thinking “reap what you sew.” For those of you who are calling for the canning of Richt, I seem to recall a time when you constantly ridiculed UF during the Zook era and GT during the Gailey era. You made a mockery of players like Reggie Ball and laughed at UFs multitude of disciplinary problems. Now the tables have turned. You weenie dawgs have what you deem a subpar quarterback and yall now have the team full of thugs. Doesn’t feel so good now does it? Well I sit back and laugh because instead of worrying about Gailey and his boys and Zook and his boys, you should have been taking a long hard look at your team and realizing that Richt’s style of coaching was never going to lead you weenies to dominance in the SEC. And you definitely should not be even dreaming of a National Championship.

I guess you weenie fans think like your weenie dawg players and coaches. You think that people will run in fear if you bark hard enough and bully people with your silly worthless jeers and antics. Well think again. You weenies are all bark and no bite. Many of the players and coaches have no integrity and neither do a lot of you fans. If you did, you would be concerned with supporting your team and rallying them to play better instead of taking cheap shots at Tech and Florida fans and players. At the end of the day you are still losers, and that cheap shot that made you temporarily feel good will fade when you are reminded again and again that the weenie dawgs are nothing and will continue to be nothing if they don’t change their mentalities on and off the field , their methods of preparation and/or their coaching staff.

You fans and your players have your priorities mixed up. Proof: When the weenies were winning , Richt and the thugs were your heroes. The Black jerseys were a great idea then. There wasn’t much complaining about Richt’s coaching style and the gimmicks when you thought those things were working. And Finally, to your lovely little weenie boys. When former UGA weenie dawg players were asked recently what their most memorable moment was, an overwhelming number of them stated “Celebrating in the endzone against Florida in 2007.” Now what’s wrong with that picture? Well let me spell it out for those of you who can’t figure it out. Instead of being proud about winning an SEC Championship or just being proud of beating Florida in 2007, winning just didn’t matter to them. What mattered most to them and the thing that they want all of you weenie fans, family, and friends to remember is that they showed up the UF players with the childish 3rd grade field day endzone celebration. Wow what great character the weenies have!! They really represent UGA and the Weenie Nation well. You must be so proud of them and most of all you must be proud of yourselves. Congrats!!!!!!!! And if for any moment anyone wants to question what I am saying, look back over any past posts to any of these blogs and any responses that will follow my post, and you weenies will simply prove to be your own worst enemies much like your little weenie dawgs did Saturday against the Gators.

I cannot figure out why UGA does not take those speedsters on the special team (i.e. Boykin) and use them on offense. Just having that speed on the field and not on the bench would be a great balance with the pass catching threat of AJ. Georgia needs to open it up with a solid running game. Georgia also needs a running Quarterback who is a threat. Tebow is a clumsy runner, but he just topped Herschel. Georgia has no balance.
