Before this season has ended, I’d really like to see …

… a UGA running back go over 100 yards in a game. Richard Samuel is the only back who’s done it this season, and that was once against Arkansas when he had 104 yards, 80 of which came on one play. Mark Richt’s Georgia teams have a won-loss record of 38-3 in games where they have a 100-yard rusher.

Can Joe Cox make it through a game without a pick? (Associated Press)

Can Joe Cox make it through a game without a pick? (Associated Press)

… Joe Cox making it all the way through a game without throwing an interception. So far, this season, the closest he’s come to that was the LSU game, where Cox didn’t have an interception until a desperation pass on Georgia’s last play.

… Prince Miller taking a punt return all the way for a score. For much of the season, the Dogs weren’t even trying to return punts. Miller came close a couple of times against Vanderbilt. Remember that 92-yarder last season against Bama? It’d be nice to see the senior do it again.

… Willie Martinez changing up his defense to fit the offense an opponent is running. It would probably take the other guys most of the game to recover from the shock.

… The Georgia defense recording a shutout against somebody other than Tennessee Tech. I frankly am not sure that’s even possible this year, but a guy can dream.

… This actually is something I’d like to hear: Scott Howard calling a major Georgia touchdown without resorting to just screaming like a fan. I’m not really asking for anything Munsonesque. Just something memorable. So far for his play-by-play career at UGA, it’s “one and done, baby.”

… The stands at Sanford Stadium packed to capacity by the kickoff. Is it really that difficult to get to the game on time?

… A major SEC game without an officiating controversy. And, yes, it’d be even better if that game was this week in Jacksonville. Anyone heard yet where Penn Wagers is going to be on Saturday?

Speaking of officiating, David Hale of Bulldogs Blog thinks Georgia will benefit from the recent spate of bad calls and coaches being reprimanded for criticizing the conference’s officials (and the perception, real or not, that certain teams haven’t gotten their fair share of flags). At this point, he writes, “the officiating blunders are so obvious that the league simply can’t afford another one. That can only benefit Georgia.” From your keyboard to Mike Slive’s ears, Dave.

… Urban Meyer crying again. Heck, it doesn’t even have to be after the Georgia game. Oh, so you’ve noticed: I really really don’t like him.

... The Dogs upsetting a favored opponent. I have two particular opponents in mind. A win against either one this season would be sweet enough to make up for the debacle in Knoxville.

You don’t like Meyer because you’re a jealous little girl. You show it everytime you write this blog and bring up UF. Meyer is a better coach than Richt and accomplishes everything you wish Richt could on the field. Because of that you and your brethern make up BS on a daily basis to try and attack Meyer’s character. It’s sad you and your other UGA faithful are so petty and jealous that this M.O. is your way of business. Grow up Bill, from the looks of your picture you seem old enough to have stopped acting like a jealous 13 year old girl a long time ago.

Bill, I couldn’t agree more about Scott Howard. I think fans are beginning to hear his poor technique exposed even more. He is just not fundamentally sound with lots of “we” and “they” and very little identification of players, etc. But I suppose he matches our team in the fundamentals. oh well, we can hope for change on the field and in the booth.

Before the end of the season…I’d like to see one of our players prove they have a valid driver’s license. Just one.

You know when I was in highschool not one person I knew had a suspended license…and maybe 10 people I knew had suspended license in college. Yet nobody on the football team has a license. If you can’t follow the rules and keep your license…why should we expect them to be in the right spot on the field or not commit penalties? Maybe we are choosing the wrong players after all.

Hopefully our no drivin’ dawgs can pull out a W this weekend!

I would like to see six sacks by “our” defense in a game. We have done that once this year against LSU. This weekend would be a good one to have six sacks again.

UGA’s football team sucks this year, whereas Georgia Tech is 11th in the country, and should be higher. Yet the AJC has twice as many articles about UGA as GT. Makes a lot of sense. No wonder newspaper sales are plumetting.

Bill, while I agree with you on some of your points above, I am getting really tired of reading your blog. You have become very cynical towards the players, coaches, and all involved. Most Dawg fans are not happy about the season; however, your tone is getting very old and you sound like some old crusty geezer. Moreover, you write with an arrogance that suggests you actually have some sort of power and influence over the UGA Football team. The only strings you pull have Tampax on the label. I am getting to the point where I do not want to read your “blog” and frankly, you might be following Scott Howard out the door as your suggested!

I would like to see the Gator’s stuff Georgia’s running game, double Green, and thats the game defensively. Offensively, we will move the ball, whether or not we will only get field goals remains to be seen. Urban worked pretty hard to fix that this week, I’ll say 27-10 Gators.

Agree with “uuughh” above. Does ANYONE associated with UGA football have a valid driver’s license?? Is it a requirement for signing on with UGA to NOT have a valid license?? The progam is in “free fall” and no one seems to want to admit it. The fact that the vast majority of those responding on these blogs have lost confidence in Richt and his staff is telling. It WOULD be interesting to see a John Gruden or Bill Cowher as DC. Can anyone imagine how it would go if Mike Adams or Damon Evans tried to step in their way? I’d love to be a fly on the wall at such a meeting. But, for such reasons, no coach like that would come to UGA. These ar PROFESSIONAL coaches that have won Super Bowls. They aren’t gonna accept poor play and lack of discipline. The program is about where it was at the end of the Ray Goff era.

I’d like to see the coaching staff acknowledge that this season is a failed bit and start working towards next season. Specifically, I want to see Murray get reps at qb. Don’t give me this bull-crud about not wasting a red-shirt season on him. If he’s worth a darn he won’t stick around for his senior season anyway. Lots of other coaches around the conference have figured this out long ago. You play your best players, regardless of age or class because you probably won’t have them around for four seasons. To waste valuable experience in game situations (which Cox did NOT get last season) and have your starting qb start next season completely green AGAIN is the height of idiocy. Richt and no one else should be held accountable if he refuses to prepare his team to rebound in 2010!

Amen brother on the wish for changing the defense to attack the opponent’s strength and take it away. Same for the offense, watch the film a scheme things to attack the other defense’s weakness. That is what coaches get paid $$$$$$$$$$$ to do. Look how well the UT game plan on offense worked vs UGA. They saw a weakness and drew up a plan to exploit it and it worked. Seems like alot of teams do that to us and we don’t seem to do that to our opponents.

As strange as this may sound, I’d love to see uga beat the reptiles this weekend. You can have all the headlines for a week while Tech quietly takes care of business in Nashville. Then at least one of our final 4 games will be against a team with a winning record and the pups might have a little less fire in their bellies for the game at the flats.

The first two plays of every possession by our DAWGS be running plays. Old Dooley ways are difficult to break. Hit Orson Charles early in the game. “I’m highly frustrated,” Richt said Wednesday night, “and I’ve taken things a little more into my own hands.”

Richt later says that this type of behavior will not effect his playing status for Saturdays game.

Another player is arrested and jailed and this does not effect his playing status for the “big” game? WOW, I understand now why your team is simply going to POT. There is NO accountability and NO leadership from the Head coach! I would have never believed this from Coach Richt…

It is indeed unbelievable that college kids that we expect to win games do not have the responsibility to take care of such a personal necessity as a drivers’ license. This also means no insurance if they hit another car. Add this category to the RIVALS and SCOUT ratings along with academically qualified, another star if they have a valid driver’s license coming out of high school.

Dawg Days it’s comedy you or any dawg calls Meyer classless for calling the timeouts considering the endzone dance party Richt had the dogs do the previous year. Typical hypocrisy from UGA fans. You’re lucky the timeouts was all Meyer did in response to something that actually was classless like the celebration. You say he’s classless and spoiled because he kicks your teams tails and actually wins championships, it’s called being bitter and jealous which you, Bill and most of the dog fans show you are whenever talking about Meyer, Tebow or UF. If you had a coach that could accomplish half of what Meyer has at UF you and the other dog fans would care less if he acted like the devil spawn of Lane Kiffin and Bobby Knight but worse. You would be running around acting as if that coach were the lord himself. Maybe one day your team will actually do something on the field vs. UF and also win a title so you won’t have to resort to displaying such weak-minded jealousy and hypocrisy. Good luck with that.

BillEGoat…Meyer is not classless because of the timeouts. Meyer is classless because of the unethical way he recruits. Who was the QB that blew the whistle on Meyer’s recruiting lies.

Richt never lies to a recruit and if they get injured he will honor the offered scholarship for the full 4 or 5 years. Was I proud of the Celebration penalty? No. Richt may not be a very good coach but he is an honorable man…much moreso than Meyer.

Actually, my antipathy toward Urban Meyer is based more on his personality. I admire his success on the field. I’ve cited his approach to special teams as one that Mark Richt should emulate. But he just seems like a self-important, humorless jerk. In contrast, I hate Steve Spurrier whenever he’s taking cheap shots at the Dogs (as he loves to do), but when he’s directing his sarcasm at other programs, I can appreciate the fact that he can be a pretty funny guy. And he can be disarmingly frank about his own teams.

I think you’d have to agree that he is a good representative of
