Fred Munzenmaier scores. (Frederick Breedon IV / Special)
The problem with a win by a struggling Georgia team over an opponent like Vanderbilt is that it’s difficult to know how much of the result was due to improved play on the part of the Dogs and how much to the Commodores just being lousy.
Still, there are positives that can be taken from the game — along with some nagging problems that haven’t gone away.
On the plus side, Georgia numerically had its best day in a long time running the ball. But 120 of Georgia’s 173 rushing yards came in the fourth quarter. One the one hand, you could say that the game already had been decided and Vandy was flagging somewhat by that point. On the other hand, it was a rare occurrence of the Dogs being able to put a game away by grinding it out even when the Commodores knew we were going to be pretty much doing nothing but running the ball. At the very least, the Dogs spent some time working on the running game against someone other than the scout team.
As for the tailback situation, as Mark Richt noted after the game, there’s still no one back who “can run everything we do … There’s some things that we think some guys do better than others.” In other words, there’s still no breakout performer, but I’d say it’s pretty obvious the bulk of the carries need to go to Washaun Ealey, who was the leading ground gainer mainly thanks to that 33-yarder, and Caleb King, who was superb in pass protection, had a couple of nice runs and looked good turning that screen pass into a 21-yard scoring play. The Dogs also should continue to make an effort to get Carlton Thomas the ball in space. Richard Samuel looked pretty much the same: good for a couple of yards but no more.
It was also painfully obvious, especially in the first quarter, that Georgia’s offensive line still hasn’t mastered run-blocking. The penetration into the backfield they allow also makes it difficult for the Dogs to run the toss sweep or the end-around. At this point, you have to wonder if that’s ever going to improve this season. As noted yesterday, though, using two tight ends at times in the fourth quarter seemed to help quite a bit.
And I really liked the play of Fred Munzenmaier, who got to start at fullback because of an injury to Shaun Chapas. Munz had a nice 9-yard touchdown run and caught three passes (as many as A.J. Green) for 21 yards. Chapas should be able to play in Jacksonville, but considering how inconsistent he has been this season, here’s hoping Munzenmaier gets the start against Florida.
Joe Cox opened the game just 3-of-11 (mainly due to drops) and threw another pick, but he completed throws to 10 different players, plus the tight ends got back into the mix, which is definitely a positive. And overall Georgia racked up 399 yards of offense against an SEC defense ranked No. 22 nationally.
On the defensive side, Georgia’s pass rush continued to develop nicely, with three sacks of Vandy QB Larry Smith and numerous hurries. You do have to keep in mind, though, that Smith looked pretty hapless back there. And I wasn’t thrilled with the way Vandy was able to move downfield on the first drive of the second half and on the Dores’ last drive with backup quarterback Mackenzi Adams — though on the latter drive Georgia had its backups in and was in even more of a prevent defense than usual … and did get a fourth-down stop.
It was encouraging to see Reshad Jones get an interception. Some things never change, though. Bryan Evans again got burned on a long pass. It’s past time for Bacarri Rambo to be the starter at that safety spot.
And Prince Miller finally was given the chance to show he’s a much better punt returner than he is a cover back.
I guess the best thing that can be said about the win over Vandy is that the Dogs never trailed, pulled away at the end and got back into a positive frame of mind. Whether that does anything at all to reduce the odds of them getting embarrassed by Florida is impossible to say, but it certainly doesn’t hurt.
Did you see anything Saturday that makes you feel better about Georgia’s chances against the Gators? Or did Vandy’s ineptitude merely mask some of the Dogs’ continuing deficiencies?

Rambo at corner? You meant safety. Putting starters on the kickoff team sure seemed to help the coverage.
Why was Wooten yanked after his dumb penalty? Yeah it was stupid but he made the catch and that’s more than I can say for Mike Moore.

Would be nice if we would block to our running plays and running plays that would key in on the different running backs strengths. I have not seen many well exectued blocks from the O line or the fullbacks this year. R Samuel had a good yards per carry avg against most of the teams we played, but he gets pulled after 5 or so carries. Run him between the tackles, run the nimble guys off tackle, but block somebody please!!!

Saw nothing that gives me any glimmer of hope against Florida. Only reassures me of the fact that we will get blown out. Can’t run the ball. Joe Cox will throw 3 or 4 interceptions against Florida and push his interception totals ahead of his TD totals.
How many fake punts will Urban Meyer run against the Dogs? Why can’t anyone on the Dogs staff recognize that as soon as the other team’s punter recieves the snap that our guys turn tail and run back downfield?
WHY CAN’T ANYONE SEE THIS???????????
It’s been this way for several years now! Even Vandy knows this! Who the hell is in charge of our punt coverage?
Just one of many problems I know, but this one can be fixed easily.
Florida will beat us by 50.

hello UGA fans … see below for another crazy rant from one of your own. Since this guy (who calls himself BuLLdawg) feels obligated to litter the GT blogs with his nonsense, I’ll just keep copying and pasting it on the DAWG blogs (where there may actually be someone who cares what has to say) … Enjoy ::
ACC has only 3 teams ranked, and the best is Miami of Florida who plays no one the rest of the year. Georgia Tech LOST to Miami of Florida 17-33.
CollegeBCS.com projects Virginia Tech in the BCS Bowl, and Georgia Tech relegated to the Gator Bowl.
Not that it matters, because no one from Georgia Tech will go. Georgia Tech is the very worst school in the Southeast in traveling well.
Jeff Schultz can write all he wants, and the facts will REMAIN the SAME. Georgia Tech is NOT going to a BCS Bowl. Miami of Florida plays NO ONE. There is NOT a team in the Top 25 remaining for Miami of Florida to play, not 1. There is not a team in the Top 50 remaining for Miami of Florida to play, not 1.
Never mind that Georgia Tech has an even softer easier schedule than Miami of Florida. Georgia Tech has games against NO ONE, except for UGA to end the season. By then, Miami of Florida will face off against hapless Boston College who has an even softer schedule than Miami of Florida and Georgia Tech.
ACC.
Bunch of junk.
Has been.
Is.
Will be.
Weak Forest, Maryland and Duke all 3 have the 3 softest schedules of any BCS school in America : SoS # 83, #84 and # 85 in the country. This is because there is NO top ACC team. Never has been. Never will be. And, certainly is NOT.
As the announcers said on the TV game of Georgia Tech Saturday night, it is BAD for the ACC that Virginia Tech lost.
10 AP Poll Number 10 Miami of Florida BEAT Georgia Tech 33-17.
13 AP Poll Number 13 Georgia Tech LOST to Miami of Florida no one there.
15 AP Poll Number 15 Virginia Tech blown out by Alabama, lost to Ga Tech, also not even a sell-out.
In the Atlantic Division, there is NO RANKED TEAM.
CUPCAKES PLAYING CUPCAKES.
Whichever Coastal team goes to the ACC Chumpionship Game, plays yet ANOTHER CUPCAKE.
Georgia Tech plays Georgia.
Georgia Tech knows NOTHING about the PASS, not on Offense, and NOT on Defense either.
114 Ga Tech # 114 Passing Offense.
108 Ga Tech # 108 Passing Efficiency Defense.
78 Ga Tech # 78 Total Defense misses Jon Tenuta against soft schedule.
68 Ga Tech # 68 Rushing Defense.
79 Ga Tech # 79 Kick-off Returning team.
72 Ga Tech # 72 Scoring Defense.
60 Ga Tech # 60 Net Punting.
86 Ga Tech # 86 Pass Defense.
70 Ga Tech # 70 Sacking opposing quarterbacks.
91 Ga Tech # 91 Tackling for a Loss.
ACC does NOT compete nationally. And, Jeff Schultz writes an article of how Georgia Tech is going to win a National Championship. That would be a 1st since Georgia Tech has NEVER EVER been Ranked Number 1 in the Final AP Poll.
I know you guys are down there in the slums of Atlanta where the crime and drugs are, but seriously put your pipe down, get outside and get some exercise and try to meet a girl or something normal because Georgia Tech is NOT winning any national championship since you cannot even play in the ACC Chumpionship Game. You play a weak schedule, have no good game left, just a LOSS to UGA. You beat 1 team who is RANKED in the BCS Rankings Top 25 and that team beat NO ONE in the BCS Rankings Top 25. You never see a pass, so you can’t defend the pass nor throw one yourself. You have a horrid defense, and not all this is against a really sorry soft schedule. National Championship when Tech has NEVER been # 1 in the Final AP Poll EVER, ha ha ha ha ha. Put the pipe down nerds, you jerks.

Against Florida, the Dawgs should dust off Dooley’s old veer formation and use all those backs to juke it down the field against the Gators. In that package include a halfback pass. It will work and keep Florida off balance.

It’s nice to get a win but why do my Dawgs come out flat after every halftime break? What does Sweet Willie do to motivate these guys? I guess nothing because ahead 17-3 we let Vandy go 80 yards on a 5 minute drive that we just sit back and let them pick us apart. I’m glad we got the win but I am not going to let up about my wishing for a new DC.

Good piece.
Two things:
1.) Why no mention of Dontavious Jackson? I know he is 5th on the depth chart, but lets be honest the UGA RB depth chart is like a collection of the dollar items at a swap meet. Why not give Jackson a chance…he didn’t look bad enough to be relegated to the bench on his three runs Saturday. Is he that much worse than what we have going so far???
2.) Richard Samuel just doesn’t have it as a running back…there is nothing special there. Washaun will probably emerge as the starter, and Caleb looks to be improving and Thomas is a solid change up threat…or will be. But we are crazy if we let Samuel rust on the bench. If I remember correctly, he was a 4 or 5 start recruit as a linebacker. Are we considering putting him back there, and if not…why not? He is an athletic talent who can play linebacker…just end the running back experiment.
Just my thoughts…thanks for reading.

Well if Bill has ban power, then he needs to ban Ramble on from this blog. It would be nice to have a really good AJC blog to discuss UGA football without Ramble and all of her alternate hats coming along with their HS remarks. That’s the bad thing about blackberries — these HS kids can post from School. But by banning them, we can end this silly drivel.
Then those of you who like this kid, can go over to the GT blogs and kiss up to her. But I say clear her out of this blog so adults can discuss UGA football. Since we can’t have registration, selective banning is the next best thing.

Richard Samuel runs with his eyes, if he doesn’t see the hole, he gets nothing, the great ones senses the hole before it opens up, and lets his blocks form before exploding through for a touchdown. Richard loves the contact, he loves to run into people, not around them. Put him at middle linebacker and I guarentee he’ll run straight into quarterbacks and runningbacks. Another point, the reason why the freshman and sophmores are doing so well….they haven’t been coached down by the coaches. How many times you see a player regress from freshman to senior year at UGA? then have to be replaced by freshmen their senior year.(Prince Miller & Bryan Evans both 5 star recruits)It’s the coaching plain and simple…

I stated before the Vandy game the young Dawgs would be focused and motivated, and would win with a 37-17 score (close, but I got the cigar). I expect more of the same at Jax. Will it be enough? I dunno… but, who thought Arky could keep it so close the whole game (and lead for quite a while).
Here’s what bothers me. I noticed Bobo on the sidelines and the players were jacked up. Then, after the game, Cox said Bobo was lighting a fire under the offense AND the defense and STs… that got everyone fired up! Where has that “fire” been all season, and last year?? It should be coming from the coaches. And CMR said the same after the game. So, let Boo stay on the sidelines if he’s the only one who is “Firing Up The Dawgs!!” … oh… and GATA!

Still wish we had a way to vote people off the blogs. You get a few jerks on both the UGA and Tech blogs, who do never have anything worthwhile to contribute. They not only make the other school mad, they embarrass their own school, although I seriously doubt any ever really went, much less graduated, from their schools. Then it excites others, who might be rational otherwise, to join in the trash talking. Would be nice to vote them off the island. But I guess that would mean less hits to the AJC sites, so we are not likely to see it anytime soon…

You can’t use the Florida/Arkansas game as a litmus test either. That was Florida’s Mississippi State game from last year but this year they got the W. The Gator D will not give up more than 20 points for at least the rest of the regular season. So if the Dawgs want to beat them their defense is going to have to hold them to under 20 points. 6 Games = 4 Touchdowns Allowed, 52 Total Points Surrendered.

You have to see the hole! You can’t sense it…. if your O-line can’t do a reach block, or down block, or just fall in front of a defender, then you will not get anything out of it. If you get better play up front, then all of the running backs will benefit. Richard is a great runningback, great linebacker too. I just want the O-LINE COACH to coach his squad. They have been lacking for several years!

Joe Cox to Tebow: “Hey uh Tim, I want to ask you a question… straight out, flat out… and I want you to give me an honest answer…what are the chances of a guy like me beating a guy like you in Jacksonville?”
Tebow: “Well Joe… that’s difficult to say… you really don’t..

Tim : Not good.

Even though I’m still concerned about our poor performance in the first half of the season and believe that we have a leadership problem somewhere, I’m very encouraged by the Vandy game. I think the fan base needs to be encouraging to the team unless and until we perform badly again. Florida looks beatable but they will certainly be up for UGA and we will need to have by far our best overall game to have a shot at them. Go Dawgs!

Well the Gators never lead the Hogs until the last 10 seconds. If Teijada could kick it might have been different. But the Dawgs beat the Hogs on the road and the Hogs almost beat the Gators in the swap. Why defenses don’t play the QB draw on third and 4 or less against the Gators is a big puzzle.
Just key to Tebow on every play and Florida has few other weapons. Their speedster is not as good as Harbin.

Glad to get the win over Vandy I hope it helps with the confidence. Maybe Bobo will keep the troops fired up until Jacksonville. It would be a perfect year to get a win over Florida. Wouldn’t hurt them and wouldn’t do us a damn bit of good. You have to figure there’s a chance because of the way UT handed us our arses. “Did you see anything Saturday that makes you feel better about Georgia’s chances against the Gators?”
Actually I did, but it didn’t occur during the Georgia game. I agree that it’s impossible to gauge Georgia’s readiness for UF by what we saw in the Vandy game. I WAS encouraged by what little I saw of the UF-Arkansas game, though. Florida’s starting to look a little tired, sloppy, and a lot like a team that may have peaked too soon. If that play continues and Georgia can somehow put together a complete performance on Oct. 31…well, who knows? They may not win, but they still might do themselves proud. After the Tennessee game, that’s all we can ask for.

I think Bobo’s move to the sidelines was important. Joe Cox said it…his enthusiasm was infectious…we need coaches that can get us fired up. While this is basically para-phrased, it said to me that if Mark’s style just won’t let him show his emotion (it used to be that he supposedly had to stay calm so he could call the next play, but with Bobo calling ‘em that’s no longer an excuse), and assuming he has some, then let Bobo and Martinez do it – and what about all those other coaches? Let them all get fired up.
As badly as we all felt following the UT game, I’m encouraged by the Vandy focus and execution that we haven’t demonstrated much so far. As for Florida, my recollection is that we have done some of our best against them when the expectations are the lowest…now if we can get that 30-year-old (looking) linebacker with the diamond studs in his ears back on the sidelines – maybe if somebody offered him a couple of extra carats for his bling – we might just have something.
And if you didn’t see that jerk Terrence Moore on one of the local cable sports talk things, be glad. I don’t know what the SOB was trying to do – probably land a job with Tech as a UGA basher – but whatever sympathy I might have ever had for the guy is forever gone. I found myself wishing I could put my fist through his face…tear his head off and crap in his neck…thankful that the AJC finally had run his ass off and thinking that the next bunch that puts him on the air deserves to be black-balled (so to speak) by all Dog fans.

i was encouraged to see Bobo on the sideline saturday. it’s alot easier to hold someone accoutable in person rather than on the other end of a headset. still say samuel is on the wrong side of the ball, along with boykin. sure would like to see him at RB.
just looked at our schedule, and this is something worth noting, there’s a strong possibility that 10 of the 12 teams we play will go bowling.. no one in the country can come even close to that.
Tech will have played 3,maybe 4 teams that will be eligible.
Problem is, doesn’t get you ranked high. so what you would rather do, play a tough schedule, and possibly lose a few games by doing so, or play a bunch of patsies(like the ACC or UF does) and be ranked in the top 5-10?

CUZ – Agree with your post – way to keep the high road in defending your archrival to the mindless.
Tech fans have been waiting for years for their chance to tease UGA fans – and I would put money that GT makes it two in a row over UGA.
As a BAMA fan – I know a little about being humbled over the last few years with the circus that was Alabama Football before SABAN and our most recent bowl performance. Thanks to Coach Shula for stabilizing the ship.
I CALL EM AS I SEE EM:
As for GT:
- wish they were still in the SEC
- ACC is not a very good conference – but Miami, VT and GT can compete with about anybody.
– UGA will have their hands full – the GT team is really putting it together and they do not panic when they are down late in the game.
– Paul Johnson knows this offense! Makes very good adjustments during the game. This guy is the real deal.
As for UGA:
- 2009 UGA team would be a great fit in the ACC this year – no difference in UGA than Clemson, FSU, BC, etc. All Mediocre this year – stuck in the Parity Pack – showing flashes of promise in one game – then look horrible the next game – SOUND FAMILIAR UGA FANS? A lot of inconsistent teams.
– UGA recruiting Class is looking excellent this year. With recent injury to your big stud O-Line recruit – need to get another O-Line commit. Maybe the James kid that de-committed Alabama will go to UGA. This would help as this kid apparently has a huge upside. Wish we had him!
- Richard Samuel – is playing in the wrong position. Stiff, strait up runner with no Hip Wiggle. MOVE this young man to Linebacker – and he will eat RB’s for lunch. I’ve been told he is a great kid and a very good student.
– Florida is playing inconsistent this year – but still winning. They do look beatable – but they are very very talented. A very good defense!!!
– UGA could beat KY and Auburn. Both struggling to put it together. UGA could win both ….. but could lose both as well.
- Really surprised that UGA O-Line is struggling.
- Also surprised that UGA turn over margin and penalties are trending like last year. which tells me that it was not a one year fluke – but coaching
- If you need more proof that UGA needs to examine their DC position – look how Van Gorder’s defense played last night – looked like 2003 UGA squad. This is the same defense scheme that UGA runs – hope Martinez and the entire defense watched the game.
UGA needs this week off to rest, game plan, and work on the basics. Good luck against the Gators.

What I saw Saturday was a Georgia team Out coached again!!! All I have seen is we are pretty good at winning games when our team has better talent!! Oklahoma State about the same talent and we lost!!! Lsu about the same talent and we Lost!!!! Tennessee about the same talent and we Lost!!!! Vandy out coached us!!! Like Bill said yesterday everybody sees we are vulnerable to the fake punt even Vandy coaches!!! You think Florida want run 1 on us!!! I’ll take bets on that any day that they do!!! We can see it but our coaches see it about like Ray Charles can!!! Bet we don’t get 1 yard on a punt return against Florida!!! Nobody else has all year but I bet we still set up for a return!!! I also bet if we try to block a punt we can block 1!!!!. Why because that would be like a trick play!!! We never do that!!!! We have to be aggressive and not play to there strengths!!!! Richt tell our team and coaches to GADA!!!!!!

DIRTYDAWG – enjoyed your post – man, you are too funny. Tell us how you really feel about T. Moore!….Classic!!!
Regarding Emotion – I like a head coach that is serious. Look at Urban and Saban – these guys are intense and ultra-competitive – and show joy only on occassion. Richt has to focus on all aspects of the game – I like his calm demeanor – but wish he would grab a face mask or two along the way to get his teams attention after stupid penalties.

Dawgguy sounds like great motivation to tell our defense to finally step up!!!! Martinez needs to have the same game plan Arkansas had!!! Play man on man on receivers and bring everybody else to stop the run!!! If we double their TE Hernandez and stop there run game we should win the game!!! We need to bring back the no-huddle for this game to keep the Gaytors from subbing!!! It want hurt our defense they are in great shape they are used to staying on the field most of the game anyway!!!!

Playing a few different payers made a difference. I really wonder about this coaching bunch and their ability to look at the talent. We see the same players week after week and season after season without regard to success. Than we we come up with the lack of experience thing, as in Cox starting this year. As far as the defense, don’t think the Dawgs will react the the FL/ARK game. We bulldogs don’t do that. I not sure the coaches ever look at film.

Coaches play so crazy sometimes!!! Most coaches play to conservative!!! On 3rd and 15 or more coaches pretty much say less just try a short pass or draw play!!! If we don’t get it well just punt it away!!! I would be more of a gambler!!! I would call a go route or all streak!! The qb then can just throw it up and hope the receiver catches it or hope he gets interference!!! If we catch it or get the call then1st down!!! If he throws an interception then there is your punt!!!

“When the meek inherit the earth, my offensive linemen will be land barons!”- Lou Holtz. Why was Obama awarded the Nobel Peace prize when UGA’s run blocking is the best example of non-violence since Dr King? I long for the days of Southerland and ‘Nando and the Big Cheese and pancake blocks! Cuz, for the replace Willie fantasy league I nominate Erk Russell. Erk will never go into prevent mode, the cover two, or use a three man rush. At least Erk could coach the special teams since those coachs appear to have taken the year off. One thing is certain, Erk will never talk back to Richt about directional kicks.

I heard last night that the SEC officiating crew in the Ark -Florida game was the same crew that called the UGA-LSU game. Can anyone confirm that? If true, they must have greatly changed their view of “excessive celebration” What is that thing Tebow does every time he gets a first down anyway? Incredible Hulk, Superman ripping off his shirt,Kink Kong beating his chest? And what about spiking the ball? Does that rule not apply to Tebow? And could we get a zebra crew in the Gator Bowl that isn’t wearing a “what would Tebow do? ” bracelet on both ankles?

The mistakes UGA made against UT would have still gotten them beat against Vanderbilt. The only true error was Cox’s first interception and even that was not a glaring error. The team overall just looked a little crisper to me and that had nothing to do with the strenght or weakness of the opponent.

12 NATIONAL TITLES – 21 SEC TITLES!!!
JACK BULL – You, sir, have hit the nail on the head with the HAMMER!
It’s not about the wins – it’s about the losses.
Need proof? Look at Boise STATE. Played Oregon early – and Oregon did not have it’s act together – and now Boise plays no one – and will be going to a BCS bowl.
It’s funny how the media will pick on Florida for their weak nonconference schedule They always fail to mention that they play FSU, UGA, LSU, TENNESSEE, So Carolina, KY, VANDY and a rotating SEC West schedule every year – and a potential SEC Title game against the best the SEC WEST has to offer.
Damon Evans should not be worried about “Brand” marketing UGA. He should schedule tune-ups to prepare for conference games – with GT being the BIG OUTSIDE CONFERENCE GAME! WINS will get UGA national recognition.
MICHIGAN (#1)and OHIO STATE (#4) are two of the top ALL TIME WINNING % PROGRAMS – but look who they have consistently played thoughout their history. MI STATE (#36 all time winning%) – then Minn (#40), Wisc (#51), Purdue (#62), IA #67, IL (#70), NW #110, Indiana (#116).
I am not bashing the Big 10 – but it is what it is – a two team conference with 8 other teams that have had a some good years- but primarily fighting mediocrity. Yet – the media get’s hyped up about Ohio State and Michigan and their TRADITION.
AND Amazingly – they do not play every team in their own conference each year – avoiding each other.
Ohio STATE was criticized for playing such an easy OOC schedule – they picked it up by playing ONE very challanging game. This year – it was USC- give them credit – but they also play NAVY, TOLEDO, and New MEXICO STATE. This is very typical.
Michigan – besides their tough B10 schedule – they do the same – usally ONE tough OOC game (maybe Notre Dame) – but look at this year. Western MI, EASTERN MI, Delaware STATE. Typical!!!!!
UGA plays GT – and has the GATORS in JAX every year (losing a home game) – UGA should play MTSU, SO. MISS, LA Monroe (yes, they beat us – but hell – we sucked!) – maybe Clemson now and then – and DO NOT WORRY ABOUT MEDIA CRITICS – THEY ARE ALL Big 10 fans or Beg east fans anyway!!!
Now look at the SEC – 5 teams are in the top 17 in all time winning %. Yes, Mississippi State, KY and Vandy have been the bottom 3 – but with all these horses – somebody is going to lose.
I repeat – it’s not about the wins – it’a about the losses.
Schedule for wins with your nonconference games – and you will end up ranked higher with a better bowl opporuntity – and still have the benefit of playing a good number of quality opponents.
ROLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL TIDE!!!!!

With Bobo on the sidelines, didn’t the DAWGS look like a regular football team…by this I mean Cox goes over to him and they discuss what he did, or didn’t do correctly…a coach can get/gain your attention and can look at your face to see if you understand what he has stated, or pointed out…although Cox was up and down, he sure looked more comfortable…Vandy was Vandy, but the hands on really made a difference…appeared that AJ was a decoy on some plays and w/ Bobo’s coaching Cox would know who/what to look for and deliver the ball to a 2nd, and sometimes 3rd look…oh, what could have been

45ACP, all jokes aside, Kevin Butler came out and said that the Refs have it in for the Dawgs, and according to Butler it started long before the Cha-Cha in the endzone. I don’t know if that is true or not, but it does seem strange that calls go one way against one team and another way against certain teams. It could be that UGA has had so many stupid penalties that when an official sees something that doesn’t look quite right he assumes a UGA player did something wrong. Like Wallace in the NBA. Wallace has been Teed up so many times if he just looks at an official he gets a T.

Numbers are now in for the Oct 10 games.
A tie for first.
1. Will Muschamp and Bud Foster with 11 points. UT beat Colorado, VT beat BCU.
3. Kirby Smart beating Ole Miss with 14 points.
4. Dick Bumpas of TCU with 15 points they beat Air Force.
5. Chavis with his loss to the Gators with 19 points.
6. Coach Willie bringing up the rear with 25 points against the Vols. Well he did improve by ten points in the victory over Vandy.

The Magic 8 ball says UGA – FL could be close for a half. This Florida team is good, but they don’t have the gamebreaking threat they had last year with Percy Harvin. The problem is that UGA won’t be able to keep Tebow’s hands off the ball enough to win. So they’ll be pumped and jacked for the first quarter plus and keep it close, but then they’ll get behind and start getting sloppy and Urban will pounce. In the end it’s gonna be Gators 28, Bulldogs 13. Sorry guys! No blowout like last year, but still a solid, never-really-in-doubt thumping.

coachKR….Knowshown running style makes your arguement pointless, often times Knowshown cut before the hole opened, letting his blockers form, using them as shields and often making yards when there was nothing available. The great ones know how to do it, obviously RS getting only 6 carries, the coaches has noticed he is out of position, maybe a fullback, but not a true runningback. Knowshown made the OL look better than they actually were.

Bill,
I recently found out that Marc Curles, the head referee over the group that botched the call in the LSU/UGA game, is a Georgia Tech grad.
Is it possible that the SEC might realize the conflict of interest here and not assign his team to our games? Or would that be asking too much?

It was great to see some of the GA kids on the roster makes some plays sat. It’s time for those guys to start stepping up and playing to their potential.I feel pretty good about the Gator game
for a couple of reasons.1.Except for the last two games the scores have been tight and this year’s Fla team is not dominate on Offense.2.We have a bye week.We have done well in this game when we’ve two weeks to get ready. It gives us time to get rested, healthy and come out at full strength. We’ve played 6 teams so far that will probably go to a bowl game..that’s got to be the toughest run in the nation.I look for our kids to be fresh and amped up for this game.3.FLA is one team we could play our corners straight up man against.I like this matchup for our guys. This is a weak spot on their team.I believe Boykin and Smith can lock down anybody they have at WR.That would allow us to send the heat more often after Tebow and could lead to turnovers.Tebow needs to be on his back or running for his life often..my strategy would be hit Tebow hard and frequently..make him a passer and we can control their offense. You can run the ball on the Gators but will any of our RB’s step up to the challenge? That’s the key to the ballgame.

Y’all, we have to be realistic and steel ourselves to the outcome of the Florida game, which will be ugly. Florida would have to have their worst performance of the year for our boys to have a chance, and that just isn’t likely.
We do have enough talent to stay in the game, but as usual, the coaching just isn’t there. And you never know how many of our players will be in jail or suspended, sad to say.
Let’s all just stay focused on the one thing we fans can do, which is to come together to demand that Richt and his cronies be fired. All you have to do is look at Florida, Alabama, and LSU to know that we can do so much better.

I’m still thinking about the ref in the Tech game. There was a measurement to see if Tech had made a first down, it was about an inch short. Then, the ref rolled the ball over and viola, it magically crept forward an inch for a first down. We dawgs need a ref like that calling for us, and not against us as in the past.
