Looks like it’s going to be a looooong season

Play-action.

Bootleg.

I just thought I’d throw out a couple of basic offensive football terms that Willie Martinez apparently isn’t familiar with.

As a result, Georgia made Jonathan Crompton look like an all-conference quarterback Saturday as Tennessee repeatedly ran the same basic plays over and over again to great success in a 45-19 butt-kicking.

Not that the loss can be pinned entirely on Georgia’s defense. Because the Dogs’ offense put on one of the most toothless, inept performances since … last week’s first half. No running game to speak of. And this week precious little passing game. You remember all the talk about how Georgia’s offensive line was terrible at run-blocking but good at pass protection? Today they weren’t even good at that, as Joe Cox repeatedly had to throw the ball away or had it batted down. Volunteer defenders spent more time in Georgia’s backfield than any of the three tailbacks the Dogs used in vain. The Dogs basically took the third quarter off.

Backup quarterback Logan Gray did finally get to play quarterback … and showed us little. He did complete his first pass as a Bulldog, to Marlon Brown (who finally got to make some catches), but generally threw poorly.

The only Bulldogs unit that had any positives in this game was, incredibly, the special teams, which accounted for most of Georgia’s points thanks to a 102-yard kickoff return by Brandon Boykin, a blocked punt for a safety by Zach Renner and a long field goal by Blair Walsh in addition to the pick-6 by Bacarri Rambo. Even then, the Dogs still had a terrible kickoff return that saw the Vols begin a drive in Dogs territory.

What else? Missed tackles galore. Tennessee receivers continually wide open. Poor play calling by Mike Bobo. And, again, Martinez appeared to be clueless.

And the dean of SEC coaches was outcoached by Lane Kiffin, who now has the right to say whatever he wants to when it comes to the Dogs.

Kirby Smart, please come home!

The refs screwed us again.
We have more injuries than anyone.
We’re just too young.
That guy Crompton is special.
Wait til next year.
The dawg ate my homework.
Yeah, but we pray better than anyone.
We’ll win more as soon as our players get out on parole.
If not for Jan Kemp we’d do a lotg better.

This loss hurts. But we can redeem the season with a win @ Vandy. Vandy played Army tough for 4 quarters and they will be formidible. I think we can do it and win the SEC. Go dawgs!

Tenn, GaTech,Fla,Ala are the last 4 big games UGA played and we were blown away in each game. Coaching has to be evaluated – those are the teams we have to beat!

Joe, that is so stupid, go read your fact before you spout your mouth off on here. Tech is way down in academics, and even worse with student athletes. Which one of those geunises in your backfield or your starting 5 in basketball are you speaking of anyway? Check your facts, before spouting your mouth off on here.

and just so you know. i hate quoting the past. the all time record has nothing to do with the present. will gt beat us this year probably so, hate to say it but probably will happen. Until we make a change in coaches we are as far as this team will go. i got lots of love for Richt for what he has given this team but it is time to move forward. his reticence to replace either martinez or cox is a prime example of the reason why UGA must go a different route.

Hey Dawggie,

Only problem with you coming over; I live next to an elementary school, and that’s closer than you child molesters can get to one.

Go beat your wife, like you usually do after U(sic)GA fans without a life do when the season is over prematurely.

And you’re very familiar with the word ‘premature,’ aren’t you?

I NEVER thought I would say this ,BUT maybe CMR needs to get a job with the BOYS CLUB or some other youth group. He is a GREAT human being, role model. This game is BIG BUSINESS and you have GOT to make the decisions to MOVE your program. If he CAN’t make those decisions….maybe he needs to be replaced.

The Georgia Bulldogs Football team reminds me of The Atlanta Braves they both are chokers. Georgia always have top talent and never can give over the top same goes for The Braves back in their winning days they had great teams but couldn’t never win multiple championships.

We are the most talented under-acheiving team in D1. We were in the same position two years ago and reeled off 8 straight wins to finish the season. I am not giving up on this team yet. We have Vandy and then two weeks to get ready for FL. GA must find a running game, must find a strong safety, must get pressure on QB’s. Too early to mail it in the rest of the year. Too much talent to be 6-6. Too much tradition to quit supporting. Too many memories of underdog teams going to Auburn, Jax and winning. Fight like hell the rest of the year then get a quality DC and an OC in January. GATA

Worst game since the Vandy/Homecoming loss several years ago. I watched the Tn. players taunt and laugh at us today and nobody was man enough to stand up and stop it. I don’t know what it will take for this team to play up to it’s potential, but something is missing. I would love to see CMR get mad, throw off his headset and yell at somebody. Pups don’t be upset about the loss to Tennessee today. You should realize that you guys have never played well against Tennessee. Georgia Tech has beaten Tennessee 17 times and you guys have only won 16 and now you have dropped 4 out the last 6. What happened today is what is supposed to happen. UGA is usually right there behind Tennessee and Florida.

This team is horrible. They are just a few plays from being 0-6. I mean we have had to fight to the end with subpar teams as much as we have with good ones. And UT is a subpar team. A midseason shake up could be a good thing with the termination of Martinez and/or Bobo. But we all know the “good guy” we have at the helm wouldn’t hear of it. I know you love your friends/coaches Mark Richt, but what about the thousands of us who support you and your program? Don’t you owe it to us as well. Im starting to feel stupid by continuously contributing to a fleeting program.
