Play-action.

Bootleg.

I just thought I’d throw out a couple of basic offensive football terms that Willie Martinez apparently isn’t familiar with.

As a result, Georgia made Jonathan Crompton look like an all-conference quarterback Saturday as Tennessee repeatedly ran the same basic plays over and over again to great success in a 45-19 butt-kicking.

Not that the loss can be pinned entirely on Georgia’s defense. Because the Dogs’ offense put on one of the most toothless, inept performances since … last week’s first half. No running game to speak of. And this week precious little passing game. You remember all the talk about how Georgia’s offensive line was terrible at run-blocking but good at pass protection? Today they weren’t even good at that, as Joe Cox repeatedly had to throw the ball away or had it batted down. Volunteer defenders spent more time in Georgia’s backfield than any of the three tailbacks the Dogs used in vain. The Dogs basically took the third quarter off.

Backup quarterback Logan Gray did finally get to play quarterback … and showed us little. He did complete his first pass as a Bulldog, to Marlon Brown (who finally got to make some catches), but generally threw poorly.

The only Bulldogs unit that had any positives in this game was, incredibly, the special teams, which accounted for most of Georgia’s points thanks to a 102-yard kickoff return by Brandon Boykin, a blocked punt for a safety by Zach Renner and a long field goal by Blair Walsh in addition to the pick-6 by Bacarri Rambo. Even then, the Dogs still had a terrible kickoff return that saw the Vols begin a drive in Dogs territory.

What else? Missed tackles galore. Tennessee receivers continually wide open. Poor play calling by Mike Bobo. And, again, Martinez appeared to be clueless.

And the dean of SEC coaches was outcoached by Lane Kiffin, who now has the right to say whatever he wants to when it comes to the Dogs.

Kirby Smart, please come home!

Think about this…only a fantastic play by Curran and a Martinez-esque defensive performance by Arky separates this team from 1-5. (though a BS ref call also keeps this team from 4-2)

Have you noticed that Richt has the same expression in his Ford commercial that he had all day at the game today? Does he have another facial expression? How can he not be upset and the pathetic performance his so called team put on today?

CAN ANY UGA FAN ANSWER THIS QUESTION?

LOSING IT? ITS GONE. WENT 2 YEARS AGO. ALL WE GET IS MORE OF THE SAME. CHANGING OFFENSIVE AND DEFENSIVE COACHES IS NOT THE PROBLEM. CHANGE THE ONE WHO HIRE THEM TO RUN HIS PROGRAM. HIS PROGRAM HAS NOT WORKED IN N 9 YEARS OF TOP 5 NATIONALLY RECRUITS. ITS NOT THE RECRUITS OR SUBORDINATES ITS THE CAPTAIN WHO GOES DOWN WITH THE SHIP NOT THE STEWARDESS.

Absolutely pathetic. This team seems to be spiraling downward and out of control. I have never seen so many blown coverages, soft spots in the zones, missed tackles and assignments, or lackluster performances. The lines are inept on both sides of the ball when they should be a strength. The defensive backfield is incredibly inept as well. The running backs cannot find daylight and go down on first contact while the opposition continues to gain 2 to 4 yards after contact on nearly every carry. They have many players that are playing their hearts out but they are obviously poorly prepared and playing mostly undisciplined. The coaching staff is failing the team miserably. I have tremendous respect for CMR and feel we are fortunate to have him but he must come to the realization that he is either part of the solution or part of the problem. The organization should reflect the personality of the leader…

If CMR does not get rid of half the coaching staff at the end of the year then he needs to go as well. This was awful. I’ve backed CMR the entire time, but I am now second guessing myself now. The Dawgs are still and will always be my team. I’m just real dissapointed in them right now. There is just way too much talent to look this bad. It’s not the players which only leaves…… coaching. Things have to change quickly or recruiting is going to take a nose dive.

We will be lucky to get to 6 victories this year if we continue on this path. This tired group needs to get it together and beat Vandy.

Here is how our KEY assistant coaches came to their CURRENT job….Bobo was a QB coach with little experience…now OC…Willie was our defensive backs coach with little experience..now DC…Tony Ball was our running backs coach(now receivers coach??) and “wet behind the ears”Bryan McClendan is our running backs coach..who was a wide out!! Tell me what is wrong with THIS picture ?? WHY would YOU put these people in KEY positions ???

McClendan (a receiver) is our RUNNING BACKS coach.

Right now we are the worst Georgia Team in over a decade. Maybe one of the worst I’ve seen in my 44 years as a fan. No heart as well. I know the offense was inept and the play calling atrocious (What’s with trying screen passes and running when they’d been blown up all day?) but for the Georgia Defense to give up that many points to a Tennessse offense that couldn’t tie its own shoelaces with any other team they’d played? Their backbones are jello…couldn’t tackle an eighty year old in a walker or cover a pinhead with a beach blanket. There are notable exceptions on both sides of the ball but I have a motivational tool. Not a single player wears the G on their helmets until they earn it….goes for the coaches as well….just plain red shirts. Perhaps nothing will help this team or the coaches but unless they start playing Georgia football it is going to be a loss to Vandy and a massacre in Jacksonville. Ugly.

As a lifetime fan of the Dawgs, I have to say that I’m embarrassed by the poor showing at Tennessee today. Tennessee is a second rate program at best this year and they made Georgia look like a sandlot team. Although I admire Coach Richt as a person, I have never thought much about his coaching ability. Today, he verified that he is not college coaching material. He should quit coaching and go into evangelism, where he can make a real difference.

As for the dogs for the rest of this season, I shudder to think what is going to happen. I won’t be watching.

Goodbye and good luck.

Willie Martinez and Mike Bobo are the worst coordinators in FBS. You can’t keep running the same plays over and over and tell me how, with the best wide receiver in the country we don’t throw deep to him in this game.

Our guys got the crap kicked out of them because they weren’t coached to know what do do. We also have no life. This is a dead football team!!!

Tech fan here. Not here to bash. I never want to see a team – not even a rival – get embarrassed. If your coaching staff doesn’t instill some focus and discipline…oh yeah, and maybe a decent GAME PLAN or something…you guys are not even going to get 7 wins and go to a bad bowl game. I mean, seriously…lining up wrong on kickoffs? Fielding punts inside the 5-yard line? Overshooting a receiver and letting an 8-yard pass go for 45 yards? Your coaches should be embarrassed at how they let your players down.

OK, I’ve said my piece and now I’ve got to go get ready for guests…coming over to watch the football tonite.

Humiliating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Year after year, UGA ranks among the best in recruiting. Wouldnt know it by our performance. Do the Georgia Bulldogs even understand what it means to compete? We just got embarrassed by a Tennessee team thats not that good. A 200+ year old institution with endless resources, no excuse not to be an SEC powerhouse year after year. Especially with a head coach who has had time to establish his program. Martinez and Bobo are an embarassment to SEC football. The fact that these two underachieving coaches were ever allowed to call plays for the University of Georgia football program makes me question the overall leadership. A head coach worth his salt would not have allowed Martinez and Bobo to stick around this long. If your not winning ball games, you make adjustments. As the leader of the program, its the head coaches job to find personnel thats up to the task. What are we waiting for? Im a truly embarrassed alum.

Travis Jones-current d-line coach for Saints, used to be on Saban’s staff at LSU and Miami, coached G.Dorsey. He is a UGA grad.Or make an offer that C.Strong, def. coord. at FLA. he can’t refuse. He need someone who is intense. We sure do miss VanGorder.

UGA made crompton look like all-sec today. My husband and I were wondering what adjustments the dawgs would make. All they did with crompton was roll him out and have him do deep drops. what the hell is halftime for if you aren’t going to make any adjustments. Why do you pay coordinators to sit in a booth and watch the game if they aren’t going to make any adjustments?

ALL CROMPTON DID WAS ROLL OUT OR DO A SEVEN STEP DROP. No one had any ideas?! None?!

UGA coaching staff is a joke. The players didn’t lose the game as much as the coaching staff did.
