Brandon Boykin's return for a touchdown was one of the few bright spots for Georgia. (Associated Press)

Play-action.

Bootleg.

I just thought I’d throw out a couple of basic offensive football terms that Willie Martinez apparently isn’t familiar with.

As a result, Georgia made Jonathan Crompton look like an all-conference quarterback Saturday as Tennessee repeatedly ran the same basic plays over and over again to great success in a 45-19 butt-kicking.

Not that the loss can be pinned entirely on Georgia’s defense. Because the Dogs’ offense put on one of the most toothless, inept performances since … last week’s first half. No running game to speak of. And this week precious little passing game. You remember all the talk about how Georgia’s offensive line was terrible at run-blocking but good at pass protection? Today they weren’t even good at that, as Joe Cox repeatedly had to throw the ball away or had it batted down. Volunteer defenders spent more time in Georgia’s backfield than any of the three tailbacks the Dogs used in vain. The Dogs basically took the third quarter off.

Backup quarterback Logan Gray did finally get to play quarterback … and showed us little. He did complete his first pass as a Bulldog, to Marlon Brown (who finally got to make some catches), but generally threw poorly.

The only Bulldogs unit that had any positives in this game was, incredibly, the special teams, which accounted for most of Georgia’s points thanks to a 102-yard kickoff return by Brandon Boykin, a blocked punt for a safety by Zach Renner and a long field goal by Blair Walsh in addition to the pick-6 by Bacarri Rambo. Even then, the Dogs still had a terrible kickoff return that saw the Vols begin a drive in Dogs territory.

What else? Missed tackles galore. Tennessee receivers continually wide open. Poor play calling by Mike Bobo. And, again, Martinez appeared to be clueless.

And the dean of SEC coaches was outcoached by Lane Kiffin, who now has the right to say whatever he wants to when it comes to the Dogs.

Kirby Smart, please come home!

That was a typical pathetic display of Defensive Coaching. Not that our offense did well, but at least they were playing a sound defensive unit. UT ran the same play with repeatedly with roaring success for crying out load. It’s inexecusable to let Crompton put on a clinic. Flacid, deplorable, trepid, and completely bewildered are the words that come to mind when I think of a Martinez defense.

Good old floppy c*ck. Floppy c*ck Mar-Ti-Nez. Floppy c*ck Mar-Ti-Nez.

Why does Richt just stand on the sideline like he has been heavily sedated. I’m sorry but the fire that Richt injected the football program with has most certainly extinghuished.

Maybe I should shut up and give the coaches a break. Maybe we’re just due for a bad season.

Seriously?

WHY DO WE KEEP USING AN OLD-SCHOOL TYPE OFFENSE? Every team in the country has this stupid i-formation figured out. PLEASE, CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN WHY WE SEE THE SAME PLAYS YEAR AFTER YEAR AFTER YEAR. EVEN THE ANNOUNCERS SAID THAT MONTE KIFFIN IS MORE COMFORTABLE WITH THE TYPE OF OFFENSSE THAT UGA IS USING BECAUSE HE AND EVERYONE ELSE IS FAMILIAR WITH IT. SAME CRAP, TOSS TO THE LEFT..TOSS TO THE RIGHT…PLAY ACTION…I CAN UNDERSTAND IF YOU HAD A REALLY GOOD QB BUT USING THIS OFFENSE GUARANTEES THAT YOU ARE ONLY USING HALF YOUR TALENT. UNLIKE FLORIDA WITH THE SPREAD OFFENSE, THEY USE EVERY PLAYER WITH THE BEST TALENT TO MAKE PLAYS!

How does Alabama turn into title contenders 1 year into Saban comming in and Florida 1 year into Meyers reigns and we can’t do it in 9 years of Richt. Even Auburn is looking good now except for today as well as Tennessee. We need to get a BIG TIME COACH now or else Dawgs are going to fall behind for a long time. I think the program needs a complete change.

Martinez may be the only coach in America that can make Crompton look like an All-American. Richt recruiting all of this talent and then handing them to Bob and Martinez is like a master farmer picking his crops and tossing them in a wood chipper.

The Birmingham News did a breakdown of recruiting classes for the past 5 years and Georgia is ranked #3 behind USC and UF. Why isn’t this translating into a Top 10 team on a yearly basis? Is it the coaching? Is it athletes not progressing from freshmen to juniors/seniors? Somebody at UGa needs to take a look at this.

What is this???? Tennessee ain’t that good!!!! This is a disgrace. They quit. NO PASSION, NO HEART, NO DISCIPLINE, NO DEFENSE. Richt is too nice. He needs to kick some butt, including coaches & himself. Richt, find a defensive coordinator, players who want to play defense & TACKLE, players who want to play special teams & TACKLE. Demand discipline, no penalties, stop depending on offense. CMR, where is your passion; are you disinterested? This is embarrassing.

You replace Richt with who? You're mommy?

Kirby would leave bama b/c he loves UGA 3 year starter & if UGA opens their checkbook I think he would love to be DC at UGA

Why in the world would he leave a great situation at Bama for a sorry excuse for a program such as UGA? He’d be an idiot to do so. UGA would have to pay him an outrageous amount to even think about it.

We are as poorly coached as any UGA team as I have seen. I have been watching UGA football for over 40 years. Martinez has no clue, and neither does Bobo. What is the story with the OL and run blocking? This is a team in total disarray. Mark will need to make wholesale coaching changes at the end of the season, if he fails to do so then Mark must go. Bulldog nation will not tolerate this level of football, we’re not Tech. I predict now we will only win 2 more games maybe 3. As I type this I am watching Alabama and Miss. It is a joy to watch a college football team play good defense like Ala. By the way, did anybody see us throw a deep ball to Green? I guess that play requires too much thinking for Bobo. I just don’t see how CMR puts up with this mess, in the corporate arena some heads would be gone due to this level of performance. Come on Mark, act like a CEO and fire some people, or the board of directors, (Bulldog Nation), will replace you. Your being paid $2.5 million EARN IT!!

Getting burned by play-action bootlegs was bad enough.

Giving a 260-pound CAUCASIAN tight-end an 8-yard cushion on 3rd and 2 just drove me speechless.

We will soon see just how loyal Richt is to Martinez.

If Richt insists on keeping him on staff, they can work together at some other university.

Penalties, poor discipline, not being in the right position to even make plays – It all boils down to coaching. If CMR won’t let Willie go then Damon Evans has too. We are a better program than we have displayed the last two weeks. I am embarassed with our efforts today. With that being said, I would still rather be a Dawg on a bad day than a nerd in the flats on a good one.

And what, we show the world that the SEC officials made a bad call last week, so they are going to penalize us for the rest of our lives?!?!

Why isn’t Mark Richt as p-d off as I am??!?!?? I’m sick of seeing his stupid complacent expression when we are getting our ass handed to us. How about a little passion!??!? How about a little anger??!?!??! No wonder these players look so ambivalent!

Where are all the Blind Homers with their DAWG colored glasses on? What did CMR show up with today? WTF, I saw your post and I noticed how your standings went lower and lower. This team is not worth $hit. Top 5 recruits or not. This team QUIT today. Did you hear that? They QUIT on CWM, and they QUIT on the SACRED CMR.

CMR in a presss conference says… “That TENN team is truly special. Afterall they held UF to something like 23 points. We played our hearts out today, nevermind the 50+ missed tackles in the first half alone. Never mind that we made Crompton identical to Tebow Jesus himself.

Are we going to blame the defense today? The offense? When are you all going to start blaming the coaching? That is why we just had our A$$ handed to us by an inept UT team. We once again were unprepared to play. Our 12 play offensive playbook did s$hit. I successfully called the Freakin screen pass 4 out of 5. UGA sucks, and it is not just this year because we are playing alot of young players. NO, we suck because we are playing like CRAP, and because we are coaching like CRAP. The only game we are winning the rest of the year is TENN Tech. We don’t have the QB or the offensive imagination to score points. We also don’t have the BALLS on Defense to make plays.

Here is a message for #95 Owens… instead of concentrationg on Twitter, maybe focus a bit more on the F___ing game. Your draft stock is dropping rapidly, what with you constantly jumping off sides You are lined up right over the ball, and still cannot keep your FAT A$$ from jumping offsides.

Oh yeah. Thanks Colorado. What is up with Princess!?!?!? Why is he playing? I think every single touchdown pass when to the guy he was ‘covering’. And the one time he got within 2 yards of the receiver, he gets an interference penalty.

We get a 25 yard penalty because AJ Green looked the crowd. They had a 2 minute celebration on the 50 yard line after their touchdown and no flag?!?!? I don’t get it.

I keep going back to it in that the only reason CMR avgs. 10 win seasons is beacause of the extra games. You know the added game to the schedule and the SEC Champ. and Bowl game. People do not realize the level expectation he set with Donnan’s teams. Funnything is Donnan is one everyone wants to rag on. Ok – so the dawgs took a whuppin.
They’re 3-3 and lot of the season left. They will NOT be NACC Champtionship contenders by any means. Something is very wrong in the coaching as the talent to win is definitely present.
We can start sorting them out now and make the changes to restore our winning ways – next year!
