Jeff Owens knows food. (UGA Sports Communications)
Anybody who’s read Jeff Owens’ blogs and tweets — or seen him, for that matter — knows that the man loves to eat. He posts more to Twitter about food than he does football.
So if you follow the same logic that leads highway travelers to look for spots where the truckdrivers eat, and you’re really hungry, you might want to follow Owens’ gustatory tracks.
Big No. 95 tweeted this morning that he was going to eat breakfast at Plantation Buffet in Athens. It was his “first time eating here,” he said, adding: “I hope the food is good as it smells.”
A while later came a new update: “Breakfast was good. I have to hand it to them. I guess I found a new breakfast spot, they just move in front of the Waffle House.”
CRYSTAL FOOTBALL IN ATHENS … BRIEFLY

BCS trophy. (Associated Press)
The Coaches’ Trophy, the Waterford crystal football to be awarded to the 2009 BCS national champions, will be on display Friday at two Kroger stores in Athens as part of a national promotional tour. It will be at the Kroger at 2301 College Station Road from 1 to 3 p.m. and at the 191 Alps Road store from 4 to 6 p.m.
You can get your picture taken with it and enter to win a trip to the BCS national championship game in Pasadena, Calif.
David Hale beat me to the line about keeping Orson Charles away from it. (As I’m sure most of you know, Charles famously tipped over and smashed Florida’s 2006 season trophy while on a recruiting visit to the school. That’s when I knew he was born to be a Bulldog.)

That will be as close as UGA gets to the crystal football. Jeff Owens needs to hang with Steak Shapiro since they are such lovers of food.

Bill,
Can you tell if Saint Simons is the same person posting every time, or if he is actually part of a group of nerds that posts in every Georgia themed blog? I just want to know if this is one guy with no life, or a group of guys with no lives.

All Dawgs have to eat.
The Waffle House is usually reserved for 2:00am – 4:00am anyway, isn’t it?

As soon as our offense learns to score 55 points a game we may have one of those trophies permanently. Stupid Mike Bobo and his offense needs to step up their game with me and my defense.

Can we get a youtube video of Orson Charles shopping at Kroger, running a shopping cart into the trophy and then doing a hip hop rendition of Brittney Spears, Oops I did it Again?

Great job by the defense in the win against ASU. They got some good pressure and played tighter coverage and the results were obvious. I don’t know if this helps Martinez or hurts him. How can the same group of players allow two mediocre offenses to torch UGA’s defense and then look so good against two more formidable offenses in the same month? Martinez and the other defensive coaches deserve credit, but at the same time it points out the obvious talent on that side of the ball.
How can a team that played 4 real games and lost the turnover and penalty battle so badly in each and every game be 3-1? I can’t answer that question.
Will UGA commit fewer turnovers AND penalties a single time this season? In just one game? In all seriousness, I’m not sure we will. We may do one of those two things, but can we do both in a single game?

Oh come on – they’ve had to put up with us for, what, 7 or 8 years? Let them have their fun. It looks more like a tech fan inserted code in the AJC blogs to always post first.
After November it will just be funny. Course we may have to win 92-91, the way our defense has been playing…

Don’t even think about the NC when we can’t even get a SEC trophy in the trophy case. As long as Willie Martinez is the DC you can kiss any championships goodbye except maybe the Outback or CarQuest bowl champion. Willie needs to go and he needs to go now. We’ll look back and see that the change should have been made after his defense gave up an average of 33 points (yes 33 points) per game. How hard is it to win when you have to score 34 points to do it. It’s a crazy maker to see how CMR makes excuses for Willie, won’t address the issue and spins all he can to allow Willie to keep his job. If this were any other college in America … Willie would be long gone. I don’t watch pro sports anymore and now CMR and Willie’s taking all the excitement and enjoyment out of Georgia football. Do wins mean that much when you play second rate teams and can’t beat the headliners? Georgia has become an average team in a national championship league and they can’t run with the big dogs. I feel most of the responsibility lies with CMR since he knows the problem and is not choosing to do anything about it.
