The dawg's defensive backs are trying very hard...but; don't we have anyone back there that recognizes routes and knows where the ball is? The last one that displayed this knack was Paul Oliver....The ones we have now seem to be pre-occupied with being in a certain area instead of covering whoever goes into the area...I just wish someone would turn into a ball hawk..Looks like Fla. State got our Georgia boy ball hawk..

1. our secondary is playing awful. we continue to recruit small corners.

2. Tennessee's defense is legit. They are damn good.

3. Florida could score 75 points on our defense. We probably could not score 25 on their's.

Get it together, DAWGS! Let's go!

The Art of Forgiveness (at least on one side of the ball)

Football is stronger than love. It's a strong statement I would not make lightly unless I knew of what I spake. Southerners understand this intrinsically, being baptized in SEC football from the get go, but there are some who say nothing is stronger than love, to which I offer this cautionary tale.

I love the band Guns 'n Roses. For several years (that serendipitously conincided with my years at Georgia) I thought them the next coming of AC/DC, the Rolling Stones and Aerosmith all rolled into one. GnR rocked, and I would gladly listen to the refrains of "Sweet Child O Mine" for hours, unsullied by the repetition.

Then it happened. A grainy video of a GnR concert where Axel Rose, the mercurial front man, punched a fan for the sin of taking a picture of the band when Axel was having a bad day. I haven't listened to GnR since.

Two weeks ago, after losing to what I still feel was an inferior team, Joe Cox, our ersatz frontman, blew off the criticisms of the Dawg Nation as irrelevant. "Those comments are from people who...never played a down of football."

Right in the ol' kisser.

I was crushed. Apparently Joe forgot for who he plays. It's one thing to diss an opponent, or (yikes) an offical, but you don't EVER talk smack about the fans, Joe! We might appear to float on the winds of opinion blown from every flatulating orifice around the water cooler, but if you test us you will know we bleed red and black. We're fans. Fickle is our forte.

So is forgiveness.

In years to come, we won't remember Joe Cox's interception against SCar, we'll remember another W against a Spurrier team and I'll be thankful. We won't remember the loss to Ok State, we'll remember that in 2009, Joe Cox threw 5 lazer beam, in-your-face-unbelievers, on-a-wire, hog-killin' touchdowns, again for the win. (Anyone remember RS's fumble? No, but we'll be replaying that 80 yard gash on the backs of our eyelids for weeks to come.)

If Joe Cox plays as well the rest of the season we'll forgive him for the Spanish Inquisition, cover charges, dresses on female Tech students and disco.

Like I said, Football is stronger than love.

The fans now love Joe Cox, and we're proud to have you as the leader on the field. Just don't expect us to lower the bar of expectations now, after all, you're a DAWG, and you're carrying the hopes of the year on your shoulders.

p.s.

If you could pass this along to the guys in the secondary, we'd REAAAALLLY appreciate it.

Enter your comments here I think the directional kicking fiasco has gotten to the point that Fabris is just being plain bullheaded about it. Something along the line of " all you people out there who say's it doesn't work aren't coaches, so i'll show you " no matter how many times it actually for all the world to see doesn't work. JEEZE!

a) We spotted ARk and SC 14 points.
b) The D did well against the run. Whether they can do well against the run with LSU or UF remains to be seen.
c) Some of our guys were playing on Friday night last year.
d) The D did well in the fourth quarter.
e) Comparisons regarding last year are pointless. Comparisons with the early eighties are incredibly pointless.
d) ARkansas had a bye after an easy game. UGA flew back and fourth a considerable distance, played two good (not great) teams one of which was a rival, and the second game lasted about 4 hours. Petrino was wise to send his receivers sprinting.
e) Yes the D has problems, but there were some bright spots.
f) I DON"T SEE HOW WE ARE GONNA WHEN WITH A DUSTY WEIGHT ROOM!!!! NO WAY DOES FLORIDA HAVE DUST MITES IN THEIR FACILITY!!!! FIRE THE CUSTODIAL CREW!!!!!!
