"You guys demonstrate a UGA education . Joe Cox lost 1 game in his life and he had the flu. Give the guy a chance!" You must be reading a different blog than the rest of us - most of the posts I've read aren't knocking Cox they are pumping up Logan Gray as being second in command and in needing some game experience. Just as baseball teams have the bullpen, so should a football team have another quarterback, or two, or three waiting and ready to take the field. I haven't seen anyone mention Zach Mettenberger but he's @ UGA too patiently awaiting his own chance to take to the field.

Well Logan Gray fielding punts is not a new thing to the person who thinks it's crazy. He did that all last season. Yes, he should have some playing time with plays designed around his abilities. I have never understood the theory of only using one quarterback per game; not only is there a possibility of the starter being hurt but using more than one quarterback can disrupt the OPPONENT'S game because it is most likely that the opposing team has watched game film based on the starting quarterback. There is really not a question as to Logan Gray being second on the depth chart but giving him more snaps gives him confidence and builds the team confidence in his ability to keep the game going. He was recruited on his own certain personal strengths so let's see him shine - and I do believe that he will shine given the opportunities. By the way, it is "THEIR" (possessive) word, not THERE word. That one irks me and it's becoming more and more popular although wrong - someone failed in their teaching of the proper use and spelling of words.

I am so sick of reading "I saw such and such play in X game when he was @@ years old or when it was xxx weeks ago and he is not the answer"
Since when does one game or a kid's performance in the past dictate what they are going to do for Georgia? It's a team and they are COLLEGE players. They are still learning and one game does not equal the kids' potential. EVERYONE, even pros, has good and bad days.

thats a great strategy bill. in fact all our seniors will be gone next year so lets pull them all off the field to get the younger guys more PT so in the future they will be better. but then, they will be seniors then too. what then? if logan grey needed to be playing, he would be. he's the #2 because he is the second best QB on the team. we have played two games and not opened to passing game up

you will get a chance to see Gray fail later in the year...dog fans. Either way, Murray will be the starter by the end of 2010.

Bill,
Good job on this column. We are all scratching our collective heads on the coaching decisions, from the top on down. Logan Gray is just one piece of this very dysfunctional puzzle.

a few observations from the ol mystic: necuga, you hit it on the head with you comments on CMR - he's got you as far as you are gonna get; superB it's that attitude of playing teams in the past like Ga Southern and the like that attributes to the national perception that UGA is a paper tiger, a wanna-be power...playing OK State is a great thing..just win the game, dummy; North GA dawg, you can throw away those Marlon Brown pajamas you wear to bed every night, Brown is another 5 star bust. A couple of years from now he'll be a special teamer at Chattanooga or another small school...ps: there is only room for one intelligent post from north Georgia, and I hold that distinct honor. So turn off the computer you are using in the Ellijay library and get back to pickin apples, hillbilly...
