Early scores to decide Dogs vs. Gamecocks?

Hope you’re having a good Labor Day. I’ll be off on Tuesday, but the Blawg will return on Wednesday.

In the meantime, feel free to continue the discussion of where the Dogs go from here.

After seeing what their respective offenses did in their opening games, I’ve heard several fans say a score like 7-3 or 14-9 wouldn’t be surprising in the South Carolina game.

And on Sunday morning’s “Bulldog Brunch” on WSB Radio, Kevin Butler made the observation that if either the Dogs or the Gamecocks gets a couple of early touchdowns, that’s probably the game, as neither offense looks capable of coming back from 14 points down.

What do you think, too harsh or on the money?

But Bill!! @hat happened to all the preseason bravado, the talk of Cox’s leadership, the talk of the monstrous O-line, the talk of SEC and national championships, the chest thumping over some website’s top 5 ranking??? Now the great DAWGS have been relegated to praying for early miracle scores against lowly SOUTH CAROLINA so they aren’t in a position where they may have to come from behind!!!

And speaking of Cox… weren’t all the mutt fans saying that they didn’t need cox to be any good, that they were so loaded with talent that he merely needed to manage games? Wasn’t uog simply going to reload and win the national championship like UT after Peyton left? Didn’t they have the best O-Line in the country, as well as all these superstar freshmen that were all going to be the next AJ Green at their respective positions??

An ugly, pathetic effort by a group of overhyped knuckleheads against a very average OSU team. There are mutt fans who are trying to puff OSU up as a “top 5″ team now that they’ve dominated mighty uog. OSU will prove over the course of the season to be another 8-4/9-3 type squad that can’t beat the best teams in its league. They were nothing special on Saturday… but then again, uog was something else entirely.

Are you ready for it uog fans???… 6-6 regular season, loss to TULSA in the independence bowl

If there is any good new from the loss to OSU, it gets fair weather fans off the band wagon. God and Greyhound probably has several UGA flags in the trunk of his car now and is pissed only because he spent his hard earned money bagging groceries on them. What kind of loser goes on another teams blog to write about them at 7 in the morning? A PATHETIC LOSER! God and Greyhound, that is what you are – A LOSER!

So we lost to a top ten team. So we have problems with our play calling. So we had problems with a sick quarterback. The Dawgs will get better and their offense will come to life. I know it really bothers you bees but the SEC is much better than the ACC. Sure Tech has a good coach and I feel that he will give you some good wins but don’t let it bother you so much when we beat you. It’s only a game and we will try not to rub it in so much anymore.

I agree with 1958dawg, thank RomeDawg. It just pisses me off when the fair-weather fans get on here and start bad mouthing a college kid who has worked and practiced for four years and then looses to a top ten team on the road with a case of the flu. I keep forgetting that all of these bloggers were undefeated during their four years as the starting QB at and SEC school.

If you are so unhappy with the team and the coaches, why don’t you move on over to the Tech bandwagon and be happy with big wins on J-State, Duke and the other high school teams they play.

Tough loss, but that is why they plan the games. Hopefully we can rebound and make some noise in what looks like should be a strong season for the SEC.

…I said those words after the first scrimmage about how we looked a lot like last year and a lot of folks on here gave me grief. Now, it looks as though I was right, especially now that deja vu has hit and Sturdivant is lost again for the season.

So, where does this team go from here? Yes, we lost to a top 10 team, no shame in that. It is HOW we lost that is forebodiing. When I look at the D never making a crucial stop and getting ZERO turnovers, I cringe. Heck, if we can do as well as last yeat then Richt should be the coach of the year.

But, if we lose this week then I am afraid we are staring straight at a 3-9 season, and probably a 1-6 start. With all other SEC teams playing like SEC taams and blowing out who they should when they should (when was the last time UGA scored 63 points on another team, or beat someone 42-0 or 45-0?

And, what the heck was Rennie Curran doing playing on special teams?

Kudos to the loyal dawgs. Sure it hurts to lose but man I love it when they win and thanks to Coach Richt that happens about 10 times a year or more. Yeah I want a national championship and the SEC ring everyyear but lets be realistic here. The SEC is the toughest conference in the country and not even Florida has gone undefeated. Coach Richt may not get in front of the cameras and spit and cuss or humiliate his players if they struggle but he does take care of issues behind the scene.

This loss hurts, but it was to a legitimate top 10 team and anyone who watched the game saw that despite some poor coaching and offensive execution, we killed ourselves with 3 turnovers, 2 of hich were inside our own 25…..you simply cannot win when you make monumental mistakes like that and the other team protects the ball and has 0 turnovers.

To all of you who are calling for the coaches heads, give me a break. We’ve won 2 SEC championships in the last 7 years under CMR and it had been 20 since our last one before that. We lost a lot of talent, we are breaking in some new starters and had to do so on the road against a top 10 team…….remain cam men, we’re going to be okay!

Do we need some more fire in our belly’s? Based on Saturday, the answer is yes. But this loss is exactly the kind of thing that will breed that…….just wait we will be fine.

I really don’t care if Joe Cox was sick. If he was sick, 2 things should have happened. 1; we should have put Gray in. 2; if Cox is such a leader, he should have been honest with the coaches and his team and said “I can’t go today”. I understand being competitive and wanting to play but if you HAVE THE FLU, you should know better. And the coaches should have seen it. Can someone tell Mark Richt that college football is a business and he’s the CEO for this “company” when it comes to football.

One play with Logan Gray. ONE! Any other SEC coach would have ranked him(Cox) after half time! Even Cox’s TD pass was a floater that was late and could have easily been picked off. He’s also lucky he didn’t have a Quincy Carter day as several of his passes should have been picked off. But Logan Gray just sat on the sidelines…..maybe he had the flu too?!!!!!!!!!!

And we need to recruit 10 offensive lineman a year b/c we know once they put on the Georgia uniform, half will get injured. What is going on with that? Does this $hit happen to any other school on such a regular basis(injuries?).

The defense played decently but they will not make up for the issues that we now have on offense. It would seem that the talent level at DE is seriously under par from what we are accostomed too. This could be the second year in a row with no pass rush whatsoever.

Nothing encouraging or positive at all for the Georgia Bulldogs at this moment. Nothing.

Back to Richt. Again, he is the “CEO” of Georgia football. And the last time I checked, when an organization continues not to reach their goals over and over again, continues to poorly execute, and continues with the status quo only to expect different results, the CEO is usually held responsible.

I am no longer blaming the assistant coaches. I’m blaming Mark Richt. This is a business and we are in the business of winning. If he doesn’t realize that, his days in Athens are numbered. Time for him to be a CEO and make the necessary changes for us to achieve our goals and potential.

Bad news first:

Joe is just not the guy at qb…we know that.
Seymour doesn’t pick his feet up…the king of the three yd. gain.
CMR MUST appt. a special teams coach…we stink.
Carlton Thomas can’t run between the tackles in the SEC.
Two turnovers.
No sacks or picks.
Herky/Jerkey play calling.
Two HORRIBLE officiating mistakes…14 pts. for the ‘pokes.

Good news:

We are the Georgia “BY GOD” Bulldogs.
There IS a good qb on the roster.
O-Line is good and deep.
Receivers are top drawer.
We will knock the snot-boogers out of you.
No team improves as much from their first really competitive game to their second.
Lots of young performers will be much better next week.

If Cox plays the whole game UGA will lose. SC’s D is far better than OSU. If CMR did not rip Bobo a new one after that performance he is asleep at the wheel. While the majority of teams opened up with cup cakes UGA, lost a tough road game. We still don’t know a lot about the Dawgs. If that was there best effort it will be a long season. But, I believe the coaches are professionals and the players want to win. There is not a lack of talent and UGA will fight. Fair weather fans find another band wagon. I don’t think we have seen the best of the Dawgs but we may have seen the worst. The first drive was great but the rest of the game looked like so many past first games, lack luster and sloppy.

SC HAS A PHYSICAL D. THEY will manhandle UGA’s over rated O line. Why worry about TS when he is done, through. Over. Too bad. SO, he gets a first class education. He can become an MD or attorney or exec or PE coach. Life goes on. When he went down, the O line caved in badly. You could sense it gang. Disgusting ……..lack of leadership by all.

The UGA D is not very physical and our safety play is just awful. QB? We do not have one apparently. The special teams are horrible. One nice punt and one nice field goal.

In 2008, we were told that “because the starting DEnds and Jeff Owens being out is why we were losing” to Bama and tech and Florida. Really? These guys played and we lost. UGA is 2-3 in OUR last 5 games and this is one ugly trend that will not stop in 2009.

The Bulldog Brunch radio show on Sunday had Butler and Jeff Dantzler and you could hear the resignation in their voices for the ENTIRE SEASON. Next year they kept saying or year 2011 is when we will be good.

with 4 or 5 NEW COACHES in the SEC, they ALL SCORED in the high 40 to yes, small school. UGA did not lose to anybody. OSU will be around 8-4 at season’s end. UGA?? 6-6 IF we are lucky.
Changes have to be made now to make a statement and after the SC game, we will hear an out cry. it is coming.

12 NATIONAL TITLES – 21 SEC TITLES!!!

Although it was the season opener for all teams – some things are very clear:

1. Bama has definately passed UGA as a program – coming out of our self inflicted wounds – in two years with SABAN. We looked mid year form and ready to rumble. Kudos to VT for absolutley bringing it – and their fans are awesome!.

2. UGA is a program that is SEC mid-level at best. Stafford and Moreno kept you ahead of the KY’s, Vandy’s and Auburn. But not so anymore. This program may be in trouble.

At best – UGA goes 6 -6 this year – and could pull a Fulmer or Tuberbville and go 5-7:

1. OSU – OSU WON
2. SC – UGA should win – 55/45 – but not surprised if UGA chokes
3. ARK – ARK wins
4. AZ STATE – UGA wins
5. LSU – LSU wins
6. TN – TN wins big – has passed UGA as a program – winning 4 of last 6 games.
7. VANDY – UGA wins
8. FL – FL humiliates UGA – total beatdown showing how far UGA has dropped from TOP 10 teams.
9. TN Tech – UGA wins
10. Auburn – 50/50 (UGA lucky to win last year)
11. KY – 50/50 (UGA lucky to win last year)
12. GT – Tech rumbles – and has passed UGA as a program.

As stated on another blog- SEASON is YOUNG. BUT UGA is showing same issues as last year:
– Special teams kickoffs – horrible!
– Stupid Penalties at critical times (see both UGA punt returns)
– Inept coaching – horrible offensive game plan – defense actually looked good – and the call on #9 Jones for hitting the receiver was a HORRIBLE CALL.

However – UGA was playing OKLAHOMA STATE!!!. A team that a Medicore UGA team should beat – even if this is the best ever OSU team.

UGA team peaked under Richt in 2005. Very inconsistent since.

Not much to really say. I’m certainly not a bandwagon fan, being alumni and all, but that was a really pathetic and poor display of football. I was expecting so much more of a fight. Joe Cox will not cut it in the SEC, so get someone in there that can. Hell, USC is starting a true freshman.

I was downtown at STATS for the Bama/Va Tech game, so it was hard to really see what was going on in the second half (not a whole hell of a lot, it looks like). However, when the tape is reviewed, the coaches better come up with a plan to change things. How is it possible that our special teams coach still has a job??

One thing though, no excuses whatsoever. We had a chance to win after the opening drive, and then nothing from us.

Even though all the rest of the SEC minus Bama and maybe LSU or SCar played cupcakes, they won convincingly enough to tell me that there could be major trouble ahead. I hope Damon Evans lets CMR know that this non-offense is not acceptable for the UGA football program.

Bama Stanky,

thanks for the usual criticism of the dogs. Are you Darwin Holt’s son? Another fine example of the Alabama traditon. The secret for teams in college football is to keep improving. The Tide stopped last year, UGA never did. I was impressed with UA victory over VT. I think VT has some of the same play calling tendancies that UGA uses.

UGA season will depend on this week coming up, see if they win, they are not out of anything. They have a tough schedule, and alot tougher than UA, UF, LSU, UT for sure, and most of the rest of the teams in conference. UF plays one potentially tough out of conference team. Last game of season. You played yours, we hav two left, plus the SEC schedule. I am kind of befuddled about why you spend so much time on a UGA blog, if you are a Bama Fan there Bama Stan. You dodged another probation just a few weeks ago, you klansmen over the line there better be careful, you will ge the death penalty next.

Dee, I think you are right. Not CEO material. Not even close until he proves otherwise.

I wonder who will get injured next? Probably another lineman…..this time he’ll get injured on the way to the dining hall….he’ll try to dart into the pizza line and will tear his ACL. Give me a freaking break! Our players are like glass! Sick of this crap!

Start Logan Grey; start Caleb King. If King does this whoosy ‘leave his feet before contact playing scared kind of crap’, put Ealey in as it can’t get any worse. Richard Samuel should be on special teams and stay there! I don’t give a rat’s a$$ if he got 86 yards against osu. Any back worth his salt would have gotten 150 with cuts, vision, and balance as the holes were there. Moreno would have had a field day with that defense. Samuel is a linebacker “playing” running back and the honeymoon should be cut short….like now! DID THEY NOT SEE THIS IN FALL PRACTICE? I doubt he started that peculiar style of running in Stillwater!

Is it just me or is Aaron White hell bent on continuing the recent butterfinger tradition for Georgia TE’s started by Trip Chandler. Did he not drop the same kind of pass during the spring game? COME ON SON! If you are undersized as a TE and add dropping the ball to your resume, I don’t see you helping the team out.

And many thanks to the selfish players, Justin Houston and Bruce Figgins. For being punks, you are suspended. Your team could have used you but you are “punks” instead of team players obviously.

You think Marlon Brown is re-thinking his decision to go to Georgia? I do! What good is he and AJ Green if we don’t have a QB to get the ball to them? OSU dared us to throw deep and guess what…we couldn’t…so excellent coaching on their part.

Disgusting and embarrassing! For all the fire Willie is getting, I actually think the worse assistants/coordinators are Bobo and Fabris. I said right after Moreno and Stafford declared for the draft that we would see if Bobo is the real deal or if he’s had success b/c he’s had superstarts. At the moment, it is the latter and that is not good news.

Tired of this crap!

I don’t make many UGA games but drove up for this one. My thoughts and those of the OK State radio post-game I listened to (haven’t had time to ready any game commentary so apologies if any of this is repetitive):

OSU radio comments

1. OSU was very scared after the initial series of both teams. In the words of the OSU commentator, “If I’m Mark Richt I never pass the ball again.” Which was my thinking. Obviously OSU knew to run the ball late to eat up the clock. I thought going Dooley on OSU would have worn down the defense, eaten up the clock, and eventually led to long runs. But who knows,

2. OSU felt that it was better conditioned than UGA. They felt that they ran the ball and stopped the run much better than UGA in the second half. They also thought OSU was better conditioned than prior OSU teams, and credited a new workout program.

3. OSU was surprised at its own defense. They felt that they had had a string of guys who thought they were going to revolutionize defense. They replaced the DC’s with an old-school guy who simplified things and emphasized the fundamentals. I wish I could remember the exact quote: “defense is (a) athleticism, (b) wrapping up, (c) reading schemes, and (d) hitting hard” – something like that.

4. One commentator was extremely harsh on Joe Cox – “a hole at QB”. Another pointed out that UGA got into obvious passing situations and that made it too easy on the OSU defense.

5. Possibly ESPN radio … UGA misses Asher Allen.

My thoughts.

1. I thought there were too many times UGA’s defense looked confused – always looking towards the sidelines. I did not get the sense that UGA’s defensive players could read schemes or knew what they were doing.

2. Everyone in the UGA section nearly fell over laughing when the new attendace record of 53,000 was announced. “Valdosta has a bigger stadium.”

3. OSU was higher ranked and predicted to win. Better to lose to them than, say, Vandy. However, fan confidence is obviously low right now.

4. As I recall, OSU threw one long ball (for a touchdown). #1 Dez Bryant only had 3 catches but 2 were TD’s. As I recall, UGA only threw one long ball and Aaron White almost caught it. My thinking was that in those 2nd and 2 situations why not air it out long.

5. Overall, I didn’t think Joe Cox did that bad. However, I also had zero confidence in the offense with 7 minutes left. When OSU was up 17 – 10 my initial thought was, “Man, we’ve got to score 3 field goals to take the lead.” The OSU announcers thaought the OSU QB did not have a great game either. Opening games are supposed to favor the defenses – I’ll give Joe Cox a pass for now.

6. That block in the back penalty cost us 74 yards, a 1st & goal on the 2 and 7 easy points. I think it ended with a fumble and an OSU TD. If I’m right that needless penalty cost us a tie game at that point.

7. There were a lot more UGA fans present than I thought – especially given the economy and the gouging on the ticket prices. Charging $100 minimum for tickets (and boundling them into season packages) was over the top. There were more UGA fans tailgating. In the words of an OU co-worker “it’s not SEC football” – on the plus side, it was infinitely easier to get into and out of Stillwater on gameday.

8. UGA cheer leaders gave out fistfulls of red pom poms to the UGA section. This may be standard for away games but it was good thinking on someone’s part.

9. Don’t know if the “Big 12″ chants at the end made the TV broadcast.

Well one thing is for sure, these type of situations seperate the real fans from the fair weather fans. There are two weays to look at this game. Oklahoma state is an average team and we played terrible against an average team so forget about the rest of the season. That is for the immature fair weather bunch.

Or you could say that we lost to the #9 team in the nation who has a senior laden team with three of the best skill players in the country and an improved defense playing in the most important game in their schools history. Also, like it or not we are a young inexperienced team in many key positions and we made critical mistakes that changed the momentum of the game. If we had played perfectly we could have won that game but we didn’t. The defense played good and will continue to improve. The offense looked great on the first drive then did not adjust to Oklahoma State stacking the line to stop the rush. That was both a coaching and execution issue.

We will get better and we will beat South Carolina and Arkansas. Then the tenor of this conversation will change.

Tough loss, dawgies. Don’t panic, good to see y’all take it on the road outta the SE US for a change. Now you know where the problems are and can still have a good season.

But you gotta come to Knoxville. We’ll be looking forward to it. Buh bye.

The OSU game proved once again that a team cannot have crucial turnovers and win a relatively closely matched game. When will our defense have some meaningful turnovers? I think never, with our “read and react” method of playing defense. The SC game should give some indication of whether Cox is going to last the entire season as the QB. I said before the season that he’s a lot better than Joe T., but he didn’t prove me right Saturday. It will be an interesting game Staurday against SC, and I for one plan to be at Sanford Stadium as I am not a bandwagon fan. I’m an alumnus and a Dawg fan for life.

Looks like Bama Stanky is now doing that Yellow Backet thing of cutting and pasting onto various blogs. You people have no creativity. So now is Fla Int, N Texas, or UTC the team that is going to upset the tide this year? Maybe you will wait to go to a major bowl and lose to another MWC team. LOL. When was the last time the TIde won a major bowl, then one kicker, with real students? Before you start blasting others, look at the mirror. You had to vacate about 10 years worth of gamess for paying for play and intitituional acadmeic fraud. That means that it was condoned by the University. Clean up your act before you come on here and start flapping you klansmen backwoods lips, or fingertips. Just remember, when you go west across the ga ala line you turn your clock back an hour and your calendar back 50 years. ROLLLLL TIDED Charmin and soap, you need a lot more of it.

After week 1, it’s clear that the 3 best teams in the SEC are Florida, Bama and Tennessee. UT will beat georgia easy and battle it out with florida in 2 weeks. I think UT upsets bama and is in the hunt in the SEC east if florida loses a game.

When is the last time BAMA won anything??????????????

Georgia has 2 SEC championships and played for a 3rd in the last 8 seasons

They have 6 top 10 finishes and 3 top 5 finishes in that time and 2 BCS bowl wins

They are the 2nd Winningest team in the COUNRTY over the past 8 years

all this talk has no meaning, Georgia needs a QB that can throw down field, spiral & tight, otherwise we are in big trouble! I don’t know why CMR think experience overweight talent, if that is true Rayan should not start for the Falcons neither Flaco to the Ravens nor Stafford to the Lions. I think the coaches made a big mistake by just handed Cox the starting job without real competition among all QBs, I think all of them should take snaps with the first team O. I like Murray, I think he will be an outstanding QB.
I was mostly impressed by Alabama and Tennessee. Bama was very very strong if they can keep it up they will give Florida a nightmare. I think Tennessee will easily beat UCLA but I still believe their butts will be handed to them when they play Florida but for now Tennessee is my favorite to challenge Florida for the East

You guys need to get up to speed on Cox. he didn’t have the FLU he had a stomach virus puking Wed and Thurs. So stop all the excuses for his limp arm as being “flu”.

Even Kirk Herbstreit stated on Game Day that he thought the dawgs would win no matter who the QB was. Corso thought Cox was good enough. So even others were fooled into thinking we have a team capable of better things.

Everybody’s calling for Logan but other than his HS films and his G-day game performance, there is zero proof he’s much better. We already know that Cox had good HS films and a decent G-day performance and how did that work out? The guy riding the pine is always the fave when things go wrong. personally I’d like to see both Gray and Murray get some action next weekend.

People should not underestimate Spurrier, even if he has passed his prime….particularly UGA fans. Spurrier ain’t dead yet. I wouldn’t be saying just how badly UG is going to beat SC so soon. Spurrier always manages to give Richt more than he’d like, and, based on the OKState performance, I would not be surprised to see SC win. So far as coaching ability goes, I would still put my money on Spurrier rather than Richt. Spurrier’s record may not be great at SC, but, tell me, who else has won big time there. SC, for some reason, is tough for anybody to win big there, including Richt.

Georgia is loaded but it was clear that the coaches didnt do a good job executing! very disappointed with Bobo, he was not smart enough. Offensively the coaches had very mediocre plan, considering all the time given to plan for OSU.

Give Cox another shot—the play calling and arm-tackling is the issue. Martinez must go and Bobo needs to learn to adjust or go with Martinez. At least we we have a good kicker and punter. That doesn’t get you far in the SEC, but it’s something.

Either OSU’s d is better than we thought or our offense is worse than thought. So the way I see it is either way we will get better, weather it’s a qb change or play calling. If it doesn’t improve then CMR needs to worry about the future. I like CMR, but this could be true test for his future. His loyalty just might cost him his job. I would like to see some of our young talent get some reps, and help them toward next year. I dont see this offense getting enough on the scoreboard to put them in during a big lead though.

That’s just my take on things, Now lets stay behind our team Bulldawg Nation! To the fairweather fans, good riddence! Uness you are possers in which case just worry about your own team!

Yellow Fuzz, you clearly get a perverse pleasure (and massive boost to your self esteem) by being obnoxious to Dawg fans. It says way more about you and your personal deficiencies than it does about the UGA football program. It is a long season with many more games to play. It will be interesting to see if you are still showing your wiener to get attention later on in the season. Let’s just say you don’t represent the teck fans I know. They are a lot more mature and have a lot more class and I suspect they wouldn’t claim you. Let’s talk again after Thursday and see what you have to say.

BAMA STAN, I agree with you it is that simple, I think Georgia is slipping because Richt is too loyal to his assistants and to seniors in the team! WM and Fabris should have been fired last year! Fabris is the DE and special teams coach and both suck. Richt is making too many mistakes and I was always on the side of CMR. We, Georgia fans, start making excuses and denying reality. and here is a bold statement if Stafford and Moreno were playing for Alabama last year, Alabama would have won the NC.

Guys, the “D” played well. This loss goes to Bobo who seemed to forget how to call plays after that first drive and to Joe Cox who, after 4 years in the system should be more capable of calling audibles at the line of scrimmage.
After that first drive, the wheels came off of the offense and it looked like we were running in quicksand. Credit OSU’s defense and their offense for taking advantage of our mistakes. That’s what good teams do. Now that Bradford is out for a while, it looks like OSU and Texas may rule the Big 12 this year.

We’ll do well to finish 8-4 this year, I think. It doesn’t surprise me that all the Techsters are on her bashing UGA. They would rather we lose than they win. The envy and jealousy is hilarious. Even after a poor performance like Saturday, I’d much rather be a Dawg than an insect.

No excuses, we got beat by a good team. I’d go 1-11 as long as we beat the bees in November.

Bottom line, this game came down to turnovers. You cannot play a top ten team and expect to win with a -3 turnover margin. I will give Joe the benefit of the doubt — the guy was sick and he deserves at least 3 games to show what he can do.

The defense was quite good save for one big play to Dez Bryan, which you had to expect at some point in this game. He is hands down the best WR we will face all year. Apart from Florida, this could be the best offense we face all year. 24 points, especially considering the field position OSU got, is really quite good.

If we can manage to bounce back and score 20+ points in a win over SC next week, I will still feel good about where this team is at. Obviously the offense has to protect the ball better and move the ball better, but I was expecting a somewhat slow start on that front.

I hate to burst bubbles but OSU started 2 first time starters at their offensive guard positions. And while there were no huge runs from scrimmage they gashed a us IMHO pretty good at times. 170 yards of rushing. Again to me it seemed more of the same bend but don’t break defense. Our defensive tackles should have wreaked havoc on those 1st time starters. They should have blown plays up and I didn’t see that. Not saying they played a bad game just that they were not how they were hyped up to be. They may be good but I didn’t see greatness Saturday, especially given how deep we were supposed to be.I also heard where 5 of our guys had to receive IV’s for fluids by the 1st half? Why were they not hydrated? I thought OSU played tougher than we did. More broken tackles and yardage after the initial hit than our guys.

Hows does Damon Evans explain that Georgia receives only 5,000 tickets to a game that is 10,000 short of a sellout. Thats right, there were 10,000 unsold tickets, but we had a cutoff at $4,000. This whole deal was a screw-up.
We have had a year to work on the kickoff problems, solved, hardly. And, the running backs can run over nothing. Blow on them, and they go down. And, we are working on turnovers, when, and where. The d-backs can not catch a cold, much less a football.

Always feels bad to lose a contest and this loss is no eaiser to take than the past ones were. Thanks to all our players for a great fought game.
Nothing on paper or on the field saturday was evidence that OSU was a better team than we were. Nor any evidence that OSU is a top 10 team.
We continue to recruit better players but can’t seem to get better results.
Lot’s of questions about saturdays game that maybe someone can answer.
1. Why when deep in your own territory do you hand off 10 yards behind the line to a freshman running back without a lead blocker, and its 3 and 10?
2. Why continue to kick off to the opponents 25 yardline whenever the opponents continue to kick off to us 5 yards deep in the endzone? Is this not a 30 yard loss for us by using simple math?

3. Why rush only 3 down lineman on 3rd and long and still give up touchdowns?

If all us fans think OSU was tough on Defence wait until saturday night when SC comes to Athens.
