Today marks the fourth anniversary of the founding of this blog. To mark the occasion, I thought I’d give you a chance to look back at that very first Junkyard Blawg from Aug. 29, 2005 about growing up in Athens town. …

Rob and Jane:
Thanks for checking in! Hard to believe it’s been that long, but you’ re right about the upcoming anniversary. Wow, a lot has happened since those days at the R&B and that little apartment in Oglethorpe Manor (as I think it was called). Hope you guys are doing well.

Let’s celebrate this anniversary by taking up a collection. If we get enough to pay Willie Martinez his salary for the next two years, is there any chance we could get him to quit?

The peach bowl was just an example of how and when CPJ offense is going to struggle. LSU had great d-ends that were able to contain the option and turn GT into a highschool offense. UGA had mediocre (at best) d-ends and was exposed as poor tacklers as well. Beating any spread/option style offense all comes down to d-ends. We were weak there last year and got killed by FL and GT. All the “mental” stuff seemed true as well, but LSU just had good d-ends and solid tackling.

Well, it’s Sunday, so most of us are off. But I guess when you work the 3rd shift at Geek Squad, the days tend to run together.
After reading that old blog, it looks like it used to take a whopping 4 hours for you NATS losers to start spewing your insecure ramblings. You’ve really stepped up your game as of late, well done!

Concerning the “classroom blitz” I wish the AJC would have listed more than 5 players from each football team and what they were majoring in (with electives). If they listed all 90 players from both schools you would see the difference between georgia and GEORGIA TECH. We don’t fit the mold, we make them.

GT Fan Old Timer,
I applaud you. I have valued every single moment spent with an “older” former Georgia or Georgia Tech player…and more importantly, man. All have been gracious, and I left with something valuable from each conversation. You likely are also one of those types of people. Keep up the good work leaving a positive mark on those around you as you pass through life.

BigMike -
Sorry but I have to disagree with you on all counts but one. By definition, a blog is a place to log thoughts or beliefs reflecting the personality of the author – so basically it tends to be whatever the blogger desires it to be. In my case, I chose to share my thoughts of years gone by watching the older greats play, hope for the future and appreciation for the athletes / students of today as well as other bloggers who share my views. However, you choose to share what you call “s%it”. I won’t comment any further on your “s%it” other than to tell you that although you have every right to spread your “s%it” in whatever form you chose. I do think you are in the minority – even on your own blog-site. And, if you don’t like the length of my blogs, there’s a little thing on the right side of your screen (at least my screen has one) that allows you to quickly pass by my name and go on to read the “s%it” of someone else. Just put the pointy thing on the bottom arrow and hold it down. It really does work if you’ll try it.
As far as the score of the game this coming year, you could be absolutely right – or not. However, if it turns out you are correct, I will stand and salute the University of Georgia as being one heck of a school with a great team and coach. And if it turns out the other way, I will still stand and salute your school and it’s fine team and coaches for none of us will be any less of a champion on the field or proud fans of our program for having given our all to the game and lost.

Chuck UGA,
Quick, before BigMike sees –
Thanks, I try to be civil but sometimes it gets a little tiring. It’s been a real pleasure reading the positive blogs here and the back and forth with y’all. Hopefully we can do it again soon. I feel like I’ve made some new friends I’d like to meet some day and talk over the “good old days” – Leaving now with a hardy handshake and friendly smile.
