Two-minute drill: Dogs pegged as SEC ‘surprise’

ESPN.com’s Chris Low has compiled his preseason SEC Superlatives and picks Georgia as the team most likely to surprise.

Says Low: “The pick here is based largely on the Bulldogs being an afterthought in the East race, only a year removed from being everybody’s preseason No. 1. Georgia isn’t good enough to unseat Florida in the East, but the Bulldogs behind a strong offensive line and a defense out to avenge last season’s poor showing will be a lot better than people think.”

By the way, his team that will disappoint? Alabama.

Encouraging report on defensive ends

The Athens Banner-Herald takes a look at the progress made at the important defensive end position this preseason and notes Rod Battle and Demarcus Dobbs look set as the likely starters in the opening game. Battle was credited with a combined six sacks during two scrimmages. Dobbs had half a sack in each scrimmage.

Dogs’ little big man

The Macon Telegraph profiled diminutive tailback Carlton Thomas and how he’s battled his entire life against perceptions he’s too small to compete. Says offensive coordinator Mike Bobo: “Carlton has always had a lot of confidence in himself because he’s been hearing it his whole life that he’s not big enough to play running back or play at this level. He’s a very confident guy, and he worked very hard.”

It doesn’t take a “math genius” from tech to realize that 1 win in 8 tries in not that great of a percentage. Go Dawgs!!

Obviously UGA is the surprise. LSU, BAMA, UF, Ole Miss are all supposed to be good. Everyone else is supposed to suck. So yeah, if Georgia played well it would be a surprise.

I don’t think anybody is supposed to “suck” in the SEC this year with perhaps the exception of Mississippi State and maybe Vandy. Other than that, even the bottom feeders would be competitive for the upper echelon in every other conference.

Please don’t forget about Marcus Washington at DE. It’s going to be hard for that Okie State qb to pass and run for all those yards when he is on his ass all day.

Fellow DAWG lovers, please ignore those who come on this blog to get attention. If you don’t give it to them they will leave. They are sick people and we shouldn’t enable them.

IMO we have 6 guys who can rotate in the DE position… Battle, Dobbs, Houston, C. Washington, Robinson and M. Washington. We should get way more pressure on the QBs than we did last year.

IMO, Richard Samuel starts but Carlton Thomas “stars” in the Oklahoma St. game. GO DAWGS

Burdell, if you were smart enough to read the posts, then you would have seen that Lagrange Dawg was responding to the drivel of St Simons. Although last year did hurt somewhat, it wasn’t the kind of hurt that lasts seven years. Hells a coming, and it’ll be wearing red and black

All you UGA rednecks better stock up on PBR and pork skins. It will be a looooooong season for you mullet-wearing, pot bellied, toothless rednecks. Goooooooooo Vols. Fear the Kiff.

we’re talking about practice. I mean listen, we’re sitting here talking about practice, not a game, not a game, not a game, but we’re talking about practice. Not the game that I go out there and die for and play every game like it’s my last but we’re talking about practice man.

we’re talking about practice. We’re talking about practice man. We’re talking about practice. We’re talking about practice. We’re not talking about the game. We’re talking about practice.

we’re talking about practice right now. … Hey I hear you, it’s funny to me too, hey it’s strange to me too but we’re talking about practice man, we’re not even talking about the game, when it actually matters, we’re talking about practice … How the hell can I make my teammates better by practicing?

The flames of ignorance burn without pain for tech fans
USC and UGA have the same amount of NCs in the last 30 years

UGA is ranked 11th alltime in wins……tech not so much
UGA has 107 wins in the BCS era……tech not so much

However:
UGA has been ranked 12 str8 years……….Tech not so much,

UGA has been to 12 str8 bowls…………………tech not so much

UGA has 9 bowl wins, in BCS era (most of all teams)…..tech not so much

UGA has ALL winning seasons in BCS era………….Tech not so much

Surprise!!! Yes, there is a lot of things about Georgia that are being overlooked. That is fine. This is just like the Auburn team of 2004. The year before they were picked to destroy everyone and underachieved. Next year went undefeated. Not saying the dawgs will go 12-0, but they will do better than everyone thinks. Starting Sept. 5th

UF if it gets past Jax will mop the floor with the rest of the country. They may well mop the floor with us.

Proof that Bill King is not Saint Simmons. Bill posted his 4:00 post at 3:55. Saint Richard Simmons was waiting for 4:00. Lagrange Dawg then beat Saint Dick to the post pole position. Somewhere there is a joke waiting to happen after that last sentence. Therefore ladies and gentlemen of the jury it was Colonel Mustard in the Library with the candlestick. Sorry another brown acid flashback. Uh, oh yeah, conclusive proof Bill is not Saint Simmons.

I still think that looking at his picture that if you paint Bill blue he would be Poppa Smurf but that is just the brown acid talking,
