And on another rare miss, I thought you were going in the other direction with that J-ville theory. I agree with you. Calling it “away” should be a good thing. FWIW, I have always thought that Richt was playing up the whole “unfair” issue as a way TO motivate, not complain.

AltamahaDawg: The other neutral site loss (the one that wasn’t Florida) was an SEC Championship.

The argument goes that Florida has closer to a homefield advantage in Jacksonville because of the proximity to Gainesville. Since we play better as an away team, if Florida had a true “home field advantage”, that *should* help us. You might argue venue (We are 2-6 in Jacksonville and 2-1 in Neutral Site games in Atlanta, which should really be looked at as 2-2 because of the Sugar Bowl) The more likely scenario is simply that we haven’t matched up well against Florida.

PS. Sometimes tradition is more important than money (even if Atlanta can’t manage its water). Stay in Jax! Take Jax back! UGA used to own that city.

Tn, doesn’t have 8 home games as a standard. They do this year because of the OOC schedule. If UGA was not swapping the OOC home and home, they would have had 7, which is what Tn and AU usually have. UF sacrifices a home SEC game as well to play in Jville, so that in itself means nothing to overall program success. I dont think ANY of the other SEC team would trade one more home game for the type of publicity that the Cocktail Party gets. UF just makes sure that schedules 2 OOC games that they dont have to reciprocate to make up for it, which we could have done too, but ventured out a little bit for a couple of years.
And what does (not) getting UF in Athens LAST year, have to do with THIS years home schedule anyway?

stephen, are you saying that playing in Athens every other year would be better financially for the school, improve the chances of winning, or just purely a fan enjoyment deal?

Florida Field has got to be one of the worst stadiums in the country. Since they added onto the stadium 60% of all the seats are now situated in the endzones. The stadium looks like there was no thought process whatsoever used in planning how it should look or function. Alabama, LSU,Tennessee, Georgia,Auburn and even Ole Miss have better stadiums.If you like swatting bugs, bad food, no parking,small restrooms that smell
(although the smell might be coming from the fans)then you’ll like Florida field. Its named ..The Swamp..and should be named the dump!

Hey, Auburn and Tennessee have 8 out of 12 games at home every year now.

Dawgs have 6 at home this year. WOuld have had another HOME game last year after leaving a ROAD game at Baton Rouge, but all you traditionalists had to play in JAX instead of Athens.

GA-FLA in jax is a no longer needed thing. Why not play FLA-TN in Nashville?? Look at all the tourism things the gators could do….what about it Foley?? didnt think so.
