I think burning jerseys because of a loss would be a bit of overstatement.

But I agree that a team should have to earn the right to wear them.

Bill, what do you think about this idea?

If the UGA football team wants to wear the black jersey for any game, there needs to be to be a REQUIREMENT regarding its use. DEFEND ITS INTEGRITY!!!
There is no limit as to how many times they can wear it during the season, but it MUST REMAIN UNDEFEATED! If they keep it undefeated like the 2007 team did, they get to take it home with them when the season is over. If they fail to keep it undefeated, that seasons black jerseys are to be OFFICIALLY BURNED!!! I think that this would inspire a team commitment to excellence while insuring that the only UGA Black Jerseys in existence are UNDEFEATED. Can you imagine what kind of bid at auction one of these
jerseys might bring a few years down the road?

I like the idea of "winning the right" to wear the black jerseys and only wearing them for that "key" game. The coaches should keep their mouths shut about it all week, then spring the jerseys/uniforms on the players in the locker room - at the last minute. This will create excitement and intensity that is lacking with UGA. I remember decades ago when dreaded rival Clemson came back on the field after on field warm ups with their all orange uniforms. The intensity on the field and in the stands was extreme.

After reading many of your posts here...I think I have been won over by the Night home game in black idea. That way it is understood. The fans all know to wear black and the players will hopefully get pumped about it. The best part about this idea is that the coaches never have to mention it again. That is the key. The coaches only talk to the players about stomping the other team...a la Nick Saban before last year's blackout.

Only red helmets though. Not sure you could make a balck helmet look like anything but Grambling. Every team in the SEC beats Grambling by 3 touchdowns.

As to the poster about how neat Oregon's uni's are...If you have 25 of them, one has to be good looking-right? They should strangle the guy that decided to put diamond plate on the shoulder pads last year. That looked ridiculous. Why stop there at the diamond plates? I have seen some really cool bullet hole stickers on some cars around--add some of those to the helmets...maybe some flames for good measure. Maybe a few neon colored triangles on a checkerboard background on the pants. Arange the triangles so that they look like they are going to roll off the pants because you are running so fast. Awesome.
