A few items of interest as we head into the holiday. …
I like this quote from Prince Miller on Georgiadogs.com. Asked if the underdog role given to UGA is the main reason everyone’s working harder this offseason, Miller says: “That is a reason, but I think guys are starting to realize that a 10-win season isn’t good enough anymore. We all want to win SEC and national championships.” …
Jeff Dantzler has a couple of nifty factoids on the Bulldawg Illustrated blog: Georgia is the first SEC school since the inception of the 12-game regular season schedule to face three BCS conference opponents in one year. And the early line out of Las Vegas has UGA a 3.5 point underdog at Oklahoma State. …
UGA recorded the second-highest number of SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll recipients among the 12 league schools. Georgia had 99 honorees on the list, which is based on grades from the 2008 Summer and Fall and 2009 Spring terms. The breakdown: Equestrian (30), women’s track (22), men’s track (19), baseball (seven), men’s golf (six), softball (six), women’s golf (four), men’s tennis (three), women’s tennis (2). South Carolina was tops in the spring with 114 on the list and Alabama was third with 90.
A contribution of a minimum of $150 per seat to the Georgia Bulldog Club’s Basketball Enhancement Fund gets you renewable season tickets among the priority seating in Stegeman Coliseum. If you’re interested, the donation deadline for this year is Aug. 15. For more information, contact the Georgia Bulldog Club toll-free at 1-877-GADAWGS or e-mail gadawgs@sports.uga.edu. One request, though. If you’re going to buy basketball season tickets, please show up for the games or give your tickets to someone who will! The many empty seats courtside at Bulldogs games can’t do much for team morale.
Have a great Independence Day weekend!

Here we go again, The Techies beat their wings off after a 3 point victory, and a decent season. Congrats for ending the drought but I guess you think the Big Dawg wont come back for a fight. Good luck in the future. Georgia has moved on from the most injury riiddled season EVER and is recruiting some serious talent for the next few years. Wish we could bet every thing we own that you dont go 50/ 50 with Ga over the next ten years. Talk now like you guys do every yr. What a joke of a bunch of fans. And I though Tennessee was bad…

No doubt we can’t seem to beat Florida. The other is too funny though. I mean, did you watch the game? Really? I’ll admit when we get beat. Definitely got beat by UF and by Bama. But sorry, the other loss was blatant self-destruction. Any sane person can see that. It matters not now. Enjoy your “45-42″ posts for 4 more months…
The thing is though, a Dawg victory this year, and you won’t hear much. Beating Tech…its such the standard. We strive to play for SEC championships and compete at a national level. You strive to beat your in-state rival once every 8 years. Live with that….

Last year the Dawgs were suppose to fear and get beat at Arizona State. We won convincingly. So, someone explain to me how/why UGA is expected to get beat at Ok State? I say, IF we can put together an offense (which will be the question-mark all season long perhaps) and IF the defense has solved it’s woes (but with Soft Willie you just never know) I don’t see Ok State being a problem.

The dawgs beat chan gomer gailey 6 times in a row (and probably would have beaten him a hundred times in a row if he had been allowed to say any longer).
However, the last 5 times that the dawgs played Tech with a coach not named chan gomer gailey, Tech has won 4 out of 5. I repeat, 4 out of 5.
Now, I realize that you dawgs are STUPID…but you have to know that playing Paul Johnson is a helle of a lot different than playing chan gomer gailey. If you really are too stupid to realize that, it WILL eventually sink in.

Bill what did your brother say – “Why can’t we all get along?”
I will be happy if the Urban establishes a average of 10 wins a 12 game regular seasons in the SEC, because we will win our share of SEC Championships with a few National Championships thrown in. If you really aren’t satisfied unless your team averages 11 or 12 wins every year you need to move to MJ’s “Neverland”! Due to player turnover after a great year, it ain’t happening, especially in the SEC and especially with the NCAA uneven enforcement of rules between conferences.

It is not the number of wins/losses that was disappointing last year. It was HOW the Dawgs played. Even some of the wins last year were not much fun to watch because the Dawgs played so poorly. Does everyone seem to forget that the 98, 99 and 00 GT “wins” were with academically ineligible players…I think that’s called cheating. Not talking about Lethal Weapon III either…LOL. But then again, that would be way below Tech to admit or discuss that because they are academically superior to our guys. Tech math still counts them as wins as well as the games played during the “war” years. That’s just plain old pathetic. I compare that to a baseball team like the Rays retiring Wade Boggs number just to have something on their wall to make them feel like a real franchise. That’s why 45-42 is the only score that’s continuously mentioned on this blog…and well, yes you won. Congrats! Why bring up old wounds? Guess it’s better for you to focus on the one true win in the last 18 games. Wow, that’s a looooooong time. Yes, UF has had it’s way with the Dawgs, but that’s at least on “nuetral” turf. That’s our goal and something we aspire to. Your aspirations are to be as good as UGA. Thanks for your support! Keep posting, please. For GT to be 1-18 against UGA with half of the games at UGA’s home away from home? That’s pretty pathetic, why not post 222-0? Isn’t that what you’re most known for? That’s your landmark victory! You may have been co-#1 in the nation, but you’ll always be #2 in the State. All the Tech posts prove that day in and day out. I wouldn’t even know where to find a Tech blog, nor would I want to waste my time on it. Thanks again for posting on the UGA blogs as it shows up in the numbers that helps solidify that UGA will keep getting the priority coverage.

The parody in the SEC is that some poor misguided Georgia fans actually believe they have a chance this year against the Gators. Enjoy your bantering with the Tech faithful, who are still giddy about beating you in your house with a depleted squad – - despite being down 16 at halftime and being ranked #1 pre-season. You went from pre-season #1 in the nation to post-season #2 in your state (both literally and figuratively).
I can understand Tech’s confidence. I can’t understand your arrogance. You can cite all the scores and records from all your wins in the past, but they were not Paul Johnson.
Tech has a much better chance beating Georgia this year than Georgia does beating the Gators. We all know that.

GR whatever the rest of your name, your post is well, patently ridiculous. When does UGA or UF go into a game saying, well we won’t win this one. What is the use of playing. When does a fan say, well we won’t win this one. Guess I will go shopping and see if the new line of Jorts, UF fans, or Camo shorts, UGA fans, have come in. It does not happen. Right before the kickoff, both teams are tied. It changes as soon as the first score. With your team this year, you should think you will win them all, I don’t think you will but we will see. I think that the Dawgs can win any game they play. That is why I am at a game, watching it on TV or listening on the radio. Do I think we will win them all, no. But as stated. If the football gods smile and the ball bounces the right way, strange things have happened and we have beat teams we supposedly had no chance beating. You may not remember, but back in 1985 the Gators came to JAX number one in the nation. There was no reason for us to even be on the field with the mighty Gators. Tim Worley ripped off an 89 yard touchdown and there was no looking back. The final score was UGA 24-UF 3. So yes, I think we can beat the “almighty” Gators. And I will either be in JAX, St. Simons or in front of my TV watching with anticipation. And win or lose, I will watch it to the end. There is no fair weather around my house and no bandwagon to jump off. I am a Dawg fan to the end, through good times and bad. And I would not have it any other way. I expect no less from any loyal fan of any University.
All have a safe and happy Independence day. I am cooking for about 150 people so after awhile I will be absent from the blog. And yes, I will be wearing my camo shorts, Dawg shirt and cap while cooking. I will put on my American flag shirt after the cooking is over tomorrow morning. Keep the UGA cap though. Truth be told, GT has produced the better scholars over time and UGA the better football teams from our NFL perspective. That being said, it is a well established “fact” everywhere (even including within your great state of Georgia), that any top “student athlete” in your state amounts to a Gold Medal Winner. . . in the Special Olympics. You may be the best in your own minds, but you’re still just retards to the rest of the country. Why do you think Alabama and Florida wipe the floor with your children in school, sports and adult life in society? 10 wins? Who cares, you frackin’ retards. And this will make some of you mad, but I’ve followed the Dawgs CLOSELY since 1971…Vince Dooley would’ve been gone around 1970 or so, if I were A.D….yiou don’t EVER go 5-5-1 and 5-5 in back to back seasons…I don’t care what era it’s in…the “younger” generation of fans have it RIGHT!!!!! Nothing funnier than reading Tech nerds act like their team killed UGA last year. 3 point demolishing.
So soon they forget the 7 straight ass whippings. Can’t beat Paul Johnson hahahaha. Get ready for your usual beat down at your stadium in the hood this year trekkies.

Bring it on SamoanDog. Unless there are some real coaching adjustments, which we have yet to experience out of the Bulldog staff, you will be facing far worse results this year. Alabama really showed you how overrated you were. Florida accentuated it. Tech put the nail in your coffin. You have less talent this year than last. Your team had Tech down 16 at half time and played like you were owed the game in the second half. Georgia has always had the talent, often more than its opponenets. It’s the coaching and execution that is sorely lacking. Until that changes, you will always be underachievers, lots of pre-season smack and hype and then late season collapses. You used to count on beating Tech as your consolation for not making it to the NC game. Now that Johnson is there, you can’t count on anything. He has been successful whereever he has coached, especially when he gets his recruits on the field. Your only hope is he is so successful that he leaves, as all successful Tech coaches have done since Bobby Dodd.
So, if you want to increase your odds against beating Tech every year, you should hope Tech does very well for the next three years or so and Coach Johnson leaves. That is your best bet for beating Tech.
You have no hope for any success against Florida. Accept it and deal with it.

I predict that UGA will lose to Oklahoma State, LSU, Florida, Auburn, and GT. South Carolina and Kentucky could go either way. But, in reality, who really cares…..life goes on. I really don’t get hyped up over a bunch of thugs that should be in prison instead of college. Their interviewing skills bring a great deal of credit to UGA. By the way, I am a UGA grad (class of ‘81). I just tell it like it is. Unlike most folks on this blog, my life does not revolve around UGA football.

Let me point out some differences for you slow dawgies.
At Tech, you have culture….at ugag, you have agriculture.
At Tech, you have the winningest on campus stadium in America…at ugag, you have THE cesspool of the south at sanford and son stadium.
At Tech, you have Paul Johnson, an offensive genius…at ugag you have Mark Richt, a nice guy more cut out to be a preacher than a football coach.
At Tech, you have a winning streak over ugag…at ugag, you have a losing streak to Tech that is just the beginning.
45-42…glad it hurts so much.

With all the talent UGA has, winning 10 games is no big deal. Richt needs to start winning 11 or 12 games, and get to the title game. Florida’s probably going to win their 3rd title in 4 years this season. Ga needs to start getting to these title games or changes need to be made somewhere.

GR8, keep believing that the Dawgs have no chance in JAX. I like the idea of the Gators basking in their superiority just like the real reptiles bask in the sun. I am thrilled over the idea that we have no chance to beat the once and future champions. It reminds me of a game I attended in 1985. We were playing the number one team in the country. Every pundit said we did not belong on the same field as the number one team. We lost our first game and tied lowly Vanderbilt. No chance at all for us to get a win against the number one ranked Gators. Somebody forgot to tell the Bulldawg team. Tim Worley broke an 89 yard run for a touchdown and it was downhill for the Gators from that point on. The final score UGA 24-UF 3. So yes, I think we can beat the almighty Gators. I think we can win any game we step on the field. Do I think we will win them all, no. But I think that as long as those guys put on the uniform of the Dawgs and remember what it means to wear the uniform, we have a chance to win any game. I can’t wait til the game in JAX. And win or lose, no draws anymore. I will be a Dawg fan on every post-game Sunday, just as I was every day prior. American by birth, Bulldawg by the grace of God.
I would like to wish all fans, Dawgs and enemy bloggers, a very happy and safe Independence Day. Let us not forget the Patriots and the fallen Heros who gave/give us this opportunity to rip each other to shreds on this platform of free speech. I will be going this afternoon to cook barbeque for my closest 150 friends and family. I will thank the veterans that attend and if you see one, please thank them also. God bless America and you also.

10 wins is a great season. However, not when you get BLOWN off the field the other 3 games. That is the problem that DAWG fans had last year….Not the number of wins. Prince should be more worried about the way he covered and less worried about the number of wins. All talk and no bite out of him and the rest of our secondary.
Anyone else concerned that the weakest part of our D is coached by our DC Willie? It scares the heck out of me.
What a shift…UGA fans used to be at the concession stand or in the bathroom when our D was on the field. Now we are on the edge of our seats because we can’t get the job done against the big boys.

I find it funny how a blog about an opinion that was given by a player turns into a fight over whose team is better. The fact of the matter is the player stated that, “a 10-win season is not good enough anymore.” History will show you that in these past few years, the records of the teams in the NC have had no less than 11 wins, including their respective conference championship (whether given or earned). The facts indicate that it does take more than 10 wins to get into the NC, not how well you do in math or whether this team has beat the other in the past few years. That is truly what this blog was put on here for. So, why not just stay on track and post on what the blog was truly created for and not on whether you think another blogger’s IQ is below 50?

Cuz, thanks for the nice post. I totally agree, say thanks to all the vets, and clap for the ones you see in uniform! And, Army Vet, you are right, most of us take this game too seriously, it is only a game, and win or lose, the Sun shall still rise in the East the next day!! And, America, Bless GOD!!
Happy and safe 4th to all of you, no matter who you cheer for on any given Sat!

Cuz, you are right, I was at that 85′ game and we took one that day. I remember each year after we have won the NC we have had bad years the next year. Hopefully we have enough seniors this year and they will not let that happen and we will have a good year. Happy 4th to all.

Everyone knows that Tech Lies and Cheats. Tech’s athletic program is an embarrassment to the whole state of Georgia. Why would any fan of another school visit a Georgia blog? Tech fans must be morons to doing that. There is no other explanation.
Tech used ineligible players for their 3 wins in 98, 99, and 2000. Everyone knows this. Those wins will never count. Everyone knows you can’t count wins if you cheat and get caught.
Tech fans are ugly, they lie, they cheat, they wear glasses, they cuss a bunch, they drink too much alcohol, they are social rejects, they don’t have girl friends, and they are pathetic human beings.
The win over Georgia last year was the biggest flunk you will ever see. How many times do you think a school like Georgia will lose a home game while scoring 42 points? Get real Tech fans. Your program sucks! Just like you.
