Where the Starbucks now sits downtown, there was a place called Yudy's. Best chicken philly and curly fries. I miss that place.

Cuz..you got it right The old Shrimp Boat at the top of Baxter Hill used to be a student's heaven back in the 70's. A place where you could get a great fish or chicken lunch for under $3..and they would take a check..for any amt. I wrote quite a few $4 checks there on the float back in the day. They used to post the returned bad checks on a bulletin board behind the counter..I saw some friend's checks there more than once. Then on Tuesday night (or was it Thursday?), you could slip down to Papa Joes for cheap beer..used to be something like 25 c a cup for beer. you couldnt get in the place. The beer store across the street (next to Brumby) used to sell a gallon of beer on tap for $1.00..the only requirement was that you had to bring your own gallon jug. No Problem. Ah those were the days..except for way too much Krystal at 3 am.

Mexicali on the deck on the eastside.
I used to love peppino's pizza circa 1998 downtown (2 slices and 1/2 pitcher $4)
