The Georgia High School Football Daily e-mail newsletter, cofounded by one of my former coworkers, Chip Saye, reports that running back Washaun Ealey passed a summer course at Emanuel County Institute last week, finishing his academic requirements to enroll at UGA. “He’s in,” ECI coach Milan Turner told GHSF Daily. You can contact the newsletter at ghsfdaily@bellsouth.net.
Bulldogs Blog’s David Hale had an interesting talk with senior Michael Moore about the returning players and incoming freshmen in Georgia’s receiving corps, including his own chances when opponents double-team A.J. Green. Asked what freshman tight end/receiver hybrid Orson Charles brings to the table, Moore says: “He’s a high motor guy. He always wants to know what to do. He wants to learn more, he runs well, he catches the ball well. I think he’s a better fit for tight end only because it will give him a better advantage. You can flex him out and he’s going to beat up a DB, but he’s better suited for tight end. He looks good.”
While on the subject of receivers, for a Bama fan spin on our discussion last week about how Julio Jones has managed to out-hype A.J., you can check out the RollBamaRoll blog. While taking a few shots at my “homerish” viewpoint (hey, it’s a UGA fan blog in case you hadn’t noticed), blogger “Todd” argues that Julio stole the spotlight because he was a higher profile recruit to start with, he was a bigger overall part of Bama’s offense last year (while Georgia also had MoMass, Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno), the Tide had a better season than Georgia (can’t argue with that) and there’s more uncertainty in 2009 about Georgia’s offense. All valid points, but I think the fact that he’s part of a program that’s a traditional media favorite plays into it, too.
ESPN.com’s SEC blogger, Chris Low, devotes today’s installment of his Hope and Concern series to Georgia. Chief hope: the “depth, experience and versatility” of the offensive line. Biggest reason for concern: “Killer schedule.”

BTW dont get too overjoyed with these freshman recruits because they haven’t played a down in college football. AJ Green will also have to overcome the soph. jinx too. If the spring game was any indication of UGAs recieving corps the its gonna be a long long season for the mutts.

Tech will lose eight(8)games this season. These games are sure losses for the bugs:
Clemson
Miami
N. Carolina
Florida St.
Vanderbilt
Wake Forest
Virginia Tech
Georgia
The bug fans will crawl back into the shadows where they have resided most of thier life. They have never.. and never will…. fully support thier program as shown by thier consistent failure to sell out their home games in a cracker box stadium.Tech did not sell out any home games last year. Any team that has to have rings made to commemorate a three point win definitely doesn’t know what it takes to be a solid respected program that consistantly wins.Have fun now bug fans cause when the season begins your gonna be so disappointed you won’t know where to turn. The Truth has spoken!

So glad that Washaun got his special admittance. Thank god the university admits special needs students. Do we have the short bus ready to drive him around campus? We know that the Athens PD will arrest him if he drives his own car.

Tech fans should enjoy 45-42. The series had lost the true hate factor. Now that UGA has been reminded that tech still fields a team, that will not happen again for another 7 years.
Welcome Washaun!! Stay away from Caleb so that you will stay hungry for results instead of resting on what was accomplished in High School.
Either way, Samuel will be the featured back.

Everyone on here is entitled to my opinion, even if you don’t deserve it.
This is the only place/school where someone can write a blog about a kid passing a freaking summer class. He may just live up to the legend of Caleb.
Please tell us the name of the class, Advanced Alphabet Reading?

Julio Jones is a manchild I will admit to that…but AJ is a beast in his own right they are different type of players though. It’s like Lebron or Kobe…. say what you will about who is better but it’s more like 1a to 1b than 1 to 2.I don’t think anyone would complain about having either guy.On another note ANYBODY out there know what’s the word on Kwame Geathers?I like to stockpile as many 300 plus guys as possible…but it’s been nothing on him since signing day..just wondering if he’s getting in or not.

Yes he should be on the hot seat. Three coaches w/less tenure in the SEC have four national championships between them. CMR is not one of them! Time to fish or cut bait!

I agree Doug! Its time for CMR to shut up or put up , quit whining about non conference schedules, playing in the Gator Bowl and having no indoor practice facility. Its time to toughen up and quit bowling and swimming…….

You techies define homo! I’ll betcha you wouldn’t talk that smack man to man!
Thought not. You trekkies and trekkers make me laugh when I see you, and its not from the funny clothes y’all wear either, its your snotty, better than thou attitude. Southern Poly is a much better school anyway and has 100% placement for all grads. What else,…… 15 modules to 9 at yech? Y’all have to apprentice under a Southern Poly man!

yellerjacket, no – this is not news. It is a blog you dumbass – strictly opinion. Learn your way around the paper and then start handing out criticisms.
On a lighter note, I find it funny how many techies read the junkyard blawg. I don’t think it has ever occurred to me to look up a blog about the GT football program. Is there one? Honestly, I could not care less to read anything it said.

JD,
i’m sure that UGA leisure studies majors can’t compare to the success experienced by the great Harvey Middleton, (Is he still a baggage handler at Hartsfield-Jackson), or his awesome Cuz Joe (what you talkin’ bout Willis)Hamilton- someone didn’t tell him that hit-n-run is for baseball not driving, or my fellow Cartersvillian Robert Lavette A.K.A baby-daddy to the masses.
