There’ve been quite a few Bulldogs-related recordings issued over the years, but probably the best-known are Atlanta ad man Clisby Clarke’s rollicking “Bulldog Bite” and “Let the Big Dog Eat” (which some people call “It’s Time”) and the legendary James Brown’s funky “Dooley’s Junkyard Dogs.” Fortunately, all three can be found online (where I couldn’t find Clarke’s “Bulldawg Boogie” — if anyone has a link, please post it in the comments).
We can round out this far from complete selection of UGA tunes with Nathan Sheppard’s rockin’ “Damn Good Dawg” tribute to Uga and country singer Corey Smith’s optimistic “Every Dawg Has His Day.”
Is another Bulldog tune your favorite? Let us know about it in the comments. And in the meantime, pick a Song of the Day by voting in the poll.

I like all the songs but am more of a traditionalist, listening to selections from the Redcoat Band before games. Especially like the “What’s That Coming Down The Track?” chant.

Can yall believe the GA Theater is burning down as we speak? A truly tragic event. Athens will be a little less without it.

#1 beat – J.B. Dooley’s JunkYard Dawgs – Tingle when I think about the Saturday afternoons in Sanford Stadium winding down in the last few minutes of the 4th quarter with another W in the Bag and the Readcoats breaking down with JB and that beat …. Mobs of people on the tracks and in the student section rocking to it – Absolutely Classic Good Times —
Dont make to much of it though or M.A. is liable to ban it from the Campus. You know it does have that bad word in the title … “D_ _ _ _ _ Y’s”

We I think of UGAg, I think back to our second album, yes, and the one with RAMBLE ON.
“What is and what should never be”, where I first started to use my soon-to-become trademark Gibson Les Paul. I think it is appropriate when thinking of National Championships and UGAg football. It just isn’t going to happen.
In 1953, Tech’s Glee Club sang “Ramblin’ Wreck” on the Ed Sullivan show to approximately 30 million viewers. Because there were only 28 seats available on the train there and back, Glee Club members auditioned for the available spots. The group prepared three songs-”Ramblin’ Wreck,” There’s Nothin’ Like a Dame, and the alma mater. Sullivan made them sing “heck” and “heckuva” instead of “hell” and “helluva,” and wouldn’t let them sing “Dames.” According to The Technique, “The club sang ‘Dames’ at rehearsal and brought down the house, only to have Sullivan give it the axe. Then-Vice President Richard Nixon and Soviet premier Nikita Khrushchev sang the song together when they met in Moscow in 1958 to reduce the tension between them. As the story goes, Nixon didn’t know any Russian songs, but Khrushchev knew that one American song as it had been sung on the Ed Sullivan show. GT fight song may have save the planet from self-destruction.
“Ramblin’ Wreck” has had many other notable moments in its history, including being the first school song played in space. Gregory Peck sang the song while strumming a mandolin in the movie The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit. John Wayne whistled it in The High and the Mighty. Tim Holt’s character sings a few bars of it in the movie His Kind of Woman. Gordon Jones sings a few stanzas several times in the movie My Sister Eileen. There are numerous stories of commanding officers in Higgins boats crossing the English Channel on the morning of D-Day leading their men in the song to calm their nerves.
Perhaps this is why Sir Paul McCartney acquired the rights to the greatest fight song in College sports.
Now, that and 45-42 justifies all the jealously you mutts have for us Yellow Jackets.

I love the Dawgs, but all these songs are just awful. Even our fight song is pretty lame. Anyone with ears would have to admit Tech’s fight song is much better than ours. Michigan, Notre Dame and Tech have the best fight songs. Tennessee would be up there too, but once you hear it 20 times in a game, it becomes intolerable.
