Bulldog Bites: Big East Challenge, Edwards for Hall of Fame

Whatever Mark Fox’s first UGA team ends up looking like, they’ll get a fairly early high-profile outing thanks to the third annual SEC/Big East Challenge, which will match the Dogs with St. John’s at the Big Apple’s Madison Square Garden on Dec. 9 as the prelim (carried on ESPN2) to the Kentucky-UConn matchup on ESPN. The two programs have played only a couple of times before, most memorably when the Dogs eliminated St. John’s in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 1983. … Teresa Edwards, two-time All-American for Andy Landers’ Lady Dogs and the only basketball player, male or female, to represent the United States in five Olympics, has been nominated for the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame. Voting is open online through June 16 here. The inductees will be announced in July. If ever there was an Olympian worthy of the Hall of Fame, it’s Edwards. So go vote!

This fan blog and the beat blog are two different animals. The fan blop epitomized by Bill, represents the heart and soul of the Bulldawg Nation. The beat blog gives us info without the rah-rah. Just the facts Mamm, as Joe Friday would say. It is a travesty and a disservice to Bill to make him carry both loads. Notice the lack of responce AJC, and it has nothing to do with Bill. You made your bed, now watch it burn.

t there is a t. This whole house of cards is falling and no one at the AJC besides Bill cares. The great days of the all-blog team, gone. The great days of the FANS OF CHAN, gone. Buck Cochran is rolling in his grave. This was his final joy beside his church and the Lord. It is done. Many have written, we have appreciated. Lower us into the ground and shovel the dirt over the online edition. Rest in Peace. God bless you Bill and Chip, you kept us fired up all along, in good times and bad. See you in the unemployment line.

How is it that the city of Atlanta tries to hijack a game that was never meant to be there just so they don’t have to drive, and yet they let the Women’s Lingerie football team just walk out of town. Is the place run by lazy homosexuals?

Off current topic…

Thanks to Law, Newnan and Champaign: It was Herbies, I kept calling it Bernies. Man, that brought back memories.

Altamaha:
You mentioned Omaley’s. I used to love that place. I lived in Rivermill and could just “stroll” in and stagger out any time. I loved it until he rented it out for a gator only party in 95, we could not even get in to use the bathroom. He had me thrown off the property because I was walking around the parking lot with a bullhorn. It closed shortly after that, I am happy to say.

By the way, Edwards could probobly start for the 2009/10 mens team. She was great.

Omaley’s closing had to be a case study in bad management. Rivermill condos, every sorority in town holding pre-social parties there, frat houses up the hill, video games, multiple bars, and a deck overlooking the Oooooooooconee. Must have been snorting the profits.

The guestion is, where do all the folks who even remember the place go now, when in town.
