‘Sack Schultz’ unveils Bowl Blowout (from Potato to BCS)

IMG_0430

Welcome back.

The Sack Schultz contest continues to spread good cheer and free food. It has been another great Uneducated Guessing Season, as we’ve given away tickets to the Georgia-Georgia Tech game, a stay at the Hotel Indigo in Athens, tickets to the Chick-fil-A Bowl, a $5,000 trip to Hawaii (yes, that Hawaii), gift cards to Marlow’s Tavern and Fat Heads (the product, not Ray Edwards).

About the only thing we haven’t given away is a coaching job for Bobby Petrino, who at this time next week will be on Groupon.

Now, we’re doing it again. Just go to AJC.com/go/sackschultzbowl2012 and it will take you to our bowl games pick page. Enter just like before and pick the winners of all 35 bowl games. The winner of the contest again will receive our admiration, as well as a relative Gorge-A-Thon. I define that as $200 in gift cards from Marlow’s.

Is shrimp and grits an acceptable appetizer ...

Is shrimp and grits an acceptable appetizer ...

There are two great things about this contest: 1) I live pretty close to a Marlow’s in Alpharetta, so you can take me to dinner; 2) You don’t need to pick all 35 games right away. You can wait (or keep changing your pick) right up to game day for each bowl. The deadline is listed next to the bowl. However, the games start next week with the New Mexico and Famous Idaho Potato Bowls (and I wish I was making that up). As always, if you don’t pick a winner, the computer will pick for you.

... before a double cheeseburger and fries? (via Marlowstavern.com)

... before a double cheeseburger and fries?

Here’s the other cool thing about the contest: Because the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl (Toledo vs. Utah State) doesn’t quite carry the same significance as the BCS championship (Notre Dame vs. Alabama), the games have different point values. The 30 non-BCS games are worth one point each; the five BCS games are worth six points each.

In short, you can blow the Beef O’Brady’s Bowl and it probably won’t matter. And, as a bonus, if you win, you don’t have to eat at Beef O’Brady’s.

So go to AJC.com/go/sackschultzbowl2012 and sign up today. Good luck everybody.

I see the shrimp but not a single grit. The only things I’ve learned from this football season is don’t ever ask Mark Richt an embarrassing question and if Tech is going to a bowl there are way too many bowls. Notre Dame will defeat Alabama which will give the Red Elephants two losses. LSU has two losses. Georgia will have three loses. So the No 1 team in the country after all is said and done is the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame and the No. 2 team will be the Florida Gators who have only one loss to a tractor school in Athens.

Maybe not, but you’ve been smoking something because the grit was right there under the shrimp, and the only accuracy in your forcast is that the Gators will finish #2. It’s gonna be a long bowl season for you SEC haters hoping we get taken down. It isn’t gonna happen. But look on the bright side, hopefully someone will raise their game enough to compete with the top half of our conference next year. Till then, head’em up and mov’em out.

Bama will beat ND but only by 3. Reuben Foster back on the market today. Not sure he’s worth the risk. The 1st thing that would need to be addressed is for him to meet with the NCAA and come clean on his adventure with Auburn and DaTrupa. The NCAA passed a plan that allows whistleblowers to be able to come clean and still be able to sign and play. I would think UGA would be his 1st choice and not so much with Bama. I don’t want him in T-town.

Going to a bowl these days is no big deal. You can even go to a bowl with a losing record. Years ago going to a bowl meant something. You had to be ranked in the top 20.

Thomas Brown

____________
Reuben Foster.
____________

Dawg19 says who cares if he is a team player or not ? We have 54 scholarship players to play Nebraska who is not only a # 16 BCS ranked team today # 23 and # 21 in the real polls which will be the only ones published for the 2012-2013 season, but a team whom we have lost to the only time we played them. Mark Richt has us back to the top 10 football teams in wins all-time now by running a clean ship and getting just exactly these types of guys in here for us all to enjoy. The win over Florida and great game against Alabama in our best shot, 2012, and a dominating performance against Vanderbilt who is going to end up in the Top 25 if they win their bowl game – especially if we beat # 23 Nebraska – have me excited about 2012. What Mark Richt and Rodney Garner needed to do February 2012 and did not do, which was to sign another dozen we did not sign, sitting here waiting for all these big names to fall on Signing Day and instead watched all but 1 sign elsewhere – is exactly what we need to do again. The 33 number is exactly the number openings. I class that high in numbers, as Dawg19 already stated, is going to have misses in it. Who cares ? Our attrition rate is 10 percent. It is what it is. We have 2 injured we have to count, and if we could disregard all these feel-good walk-on stories, many of whom are from very well-to-do families who do not in the least need our scholarship half as badly as we do, we need to get counting the 1 transfer-in, 27 as early enrollees. Up to 19 you say might come in early. 33 minus 19 leaves 14 for 2013 class. Fill every spot. 5-Star # 1 Linebacker in the United States of America with 11 NFL Draft Picks after the Nebraska game, including all these players who started here on Defense, and we have to question the guy’s leadership roles or ability to be a part of a finally 85-man team ? Seriously. 4.65 speed at 245 lbs. I don’t care what position we line him up at, but I would get him on the field and tell him to learn to run the ball since all Mike Bobo wants to do is to run it up the middle or leave the guys with speed for getting out in the spaces such as Keith Marshall, on the sidelines. Tell him as a Freshman all he has to do on Defense is get about 15 sacks and we don’t even want him to work on defense, spending his time instead learning the offense. You have natural guys like this come along once a decade. So what if 2 posters who don’t really contribute to this site anyway, run in here and tell us that Reuben Foster is another Caleb King, Washaun Ealey or Isaiah Crowell ?

We have folks whose only purpose in Life is to come onto these blogs and never contribute anything.

All these folks want to do is to write about how sorry some other poster is.

Excuse me : This is a Bulldogs blog where we came in here to discuss The Georgia Bulldogs’ Football Program.

Not to tell everyone how damn smart some FSU fan is who is upset that I say that FSU sucks and has since the Day Mark Richt said he was quitting that gig for this one.

If all you want to do in Life, is to run in here and put down EVERY POSTER as a jerk compared to yourself, please move on. You weren’t here prior to 2 months ago with that handle.

And, you AREN’T in here to discuss The Georgia Bulldogs’ Football Program.

You’re only in here to make yourself look great, as

to everyone who dares to come in here and discuss The Georgia Bulldogs’ Football Program.

It’s what we came in here to do.

And, to read about other fans of a like nature and what they have to say about our Football Program.

Not to read about how bloody smart you think you are as a FSU fan.

FSU is the # 97 university. And, about the same in all-time wins in football, not a Top 10 All-Time Football Program.

Does anyone really seriously consider for one New York nanosecond that any of these 3 compared to Reuben Foster namely Washaun Ealey, Isaiah Crowell and Caleb King, are really not great football players ? Sure as hell they all 3 were for Mark Richt. 1 flunked out and the other 2, all 3 running backs I point out, were kicked off the team. Now, we are supposed to act like – with 10 percent of Mark Richt’s recruits who have always been like this – that all of a sudden we do not want the very best talent we can possibly sign-up ? Look. The kids love

Mark Richt. He has averaged the 2nd best recruiting rankings, averaging both Scout.com and Rivals over the entire Mark Richt era 2001-2013, and has 71 NFL Draft Picks fixing to be 83 in the same timeframe, to not only validate the recruiting rankings of Scout.com and Rivals, but more importantly to give us wins like # 4 Florida 2012, # 13 Georgia Tech 2009 ( I know long stretch there. ) # 6 LSU 2005, # 9 Auburn 2006, # 4 Tennessee 2001, # 11 Alabama 2002, # 14 Auburn 2002, # 13 Florida in 2007, # 14 Auburn in 2002, # 15 Tennessee in 2003, # 16 LSU in 2004, # 17 Wisconsin in 2004, # 19 Virginia Tech in 2009, and # 19 Hawai’i in 2007. I have resigned myself to the fact that Mark Richt has a family atmosphere with a bunch of cast-off coaches on his staff, none of whom have ever done much to prove any of them have any smarts in life or on the gridiron. What I have to hang my hat upon is the talent we have here, and have sent through here.

We’ve never had this type of talent.

We’ve had far better coaching staffs. It is what it is. I am excited to have Reuben Foster join us. Steps out of line, and he can join the 30 others whose names I pasted their names of whom Mark Richt could have had playing against Alabama when we were just worn out on Defense after 60 running plays for 7 yards a carry against us. 245 lbs does not indicate that the guy is out of shape. He could actually carry a lot more weight than that on his frame and I think he will. We have 2 tendencies as fans in our great Bulldog Nation. (1) We tend to make excuses for players when they need to be told by everyone how crappy they just did. And, (2) We tend to say good riddance once Mark Richt gets the transfer-out of the guys such as this poster wrote. It is too bad those 2 posters are not in here today to answer the replies to their posts from October. Sign Reuben Foster.

Oh, I pick on players for cruddy performances ?

Damn right I do.

How’d that work out against Florida whom you said a lot about than I did this off-season and into the season when you said we would be measured by how we played against Mizzou a 6-Loss team I point out, not that you are addressing any of that, EITHER.

Just sitting there saying how cruddy I am.

Forget you.

That goes double for a LIAR who says the only team in Division III who meets his criteria is NOT the team I named. If you are a FSU fan or fan of some other team, I am supposed to address myself to YOU and not to Bulldogs such as myself ?

Excuse me again : This is The Georgia Bulldogs’ blog.

We have a Great Year 2012. Your teams you WANTED US TO TALK ABOUT

DID NOT.
________

LSU and Alabama are both wrong and we are right to question whether we sign him ? Good Lord, is all I can say. I agree with Dawg19 : Sign Alvin Kamara, Montravius Adams, and Reuben Foster – and, Laremy Tunsil, Antonio Conner, Eddie Vanderdoes and everyone else who wants to come here and let me watch him. It is what I love, you know. And, it is what Mark Richt does better than any coach in America.

So, Thomas, what does the arrest of a GT assistant basketball coach have to do with Bulldog football? For that matter, what does his arrest have to do with cheating during recruiting? If he was taking the prospective recruit out drinking with him you might have a point.

Here’s a question for you actually related to Bulldog football: why would a fan brag about the Bulldog defense being superior to the Alabama defense before the game, then after the game point out that the shredding of that Bulldog defense for 350 yards on the ground should not be a surprise, given the defense’s dismal record against the run all year long?

“That goes double for a LIAR who says the only team in Division III who meets his criteria is NOT the team I named. If you are a FSU fan or fan of some other team, I am supposed to address myself to YOU and not to Bulldogs such as myself ?”

Look, Thomas, the faacts are these: 8-2 regular season, 9-3 overall; won the conference for the third straight year and five of the last six. The team you cam up with, North Central, was 6-1 in their conference this year and shared their conference title this year. Don’t EVEN label me a liar because you didn’t find the correct division three team to pin on me. If you’re that obsessed, then keep diggging. IF you find the correct team, I’ll acknowledge it.

More importantly, where I went to school is not germane to any comments I might make in these blogs. I happen to think that the Georgia Bulldogs had a reasonably good season this year, although I realize it has not lived up to the expectations of some of their more die-hard fans, such as yourself. Hey, I wish my team had gone deeper than two rounds into the playoffs this year, but I am still, rightfully, proud of what they wer able to accomplish. Is the level of competition as hig as in the FBS? Of course not. I’ve even stated here that the conference we’ve dominated recently is fairly weak, as opposed to the SEC the Bulldogs play in. SO WHAT? At the end of the day, it’s just a game.

If you eatched the Army-Navy game this past weekend, there was a comment made during the pre-game show that put it all in prespective. One of the talking heads, I don’t recall which one said something along the lines that the Army-Navy game is special, in that all of the folks out on the field are willing to die for the people watching them play.

This just crossing the wire: Details of Bobby Petrino contract with Western Kentucky includes the following: No motorcycle riding with 20-something year old blonde staff members (unless you receive prior approval from the players); No clandestine meetings with representatives of Auburn or other poacher schools, unless there are millions of dollars involved; A buyout clause of $100 million if you leave for a middle school, high school, college, professional or any other football related job, including talking head jobs, No abandoning the team during the season (except for your own death), and absolutely no slinking around the co-ed dorms, cheerleaders, the President’s wife or even female dogs (commonly referred to as b@#%&hes.) Finally, attain a BCS Bowl each year and contribute $1,000,000 to build a new library on campus. Addendum: Kentucky is a right to work state (or it should be), so you can be fired for any reason at any time, like not winning enough. Thomas – Your usual style is to post these long screeds chock full of facts (although not all accurate). I have simply noted a couple of inconsistencies and outright errors and pointeed them out to you, Your reaction has been to whine and obsess over where I went to school, no doubt to prove that yoour Bulldogs have a superior program. I’ve freely stated that the programs are not in the same league, or even the same division, but have mentioned that my school has had some recent success in their world. Does that mean I want to turn the discussion to my school? No. I’m simply pointing out that other schools in other parts of the country and other athletic conferences have been successful, and should not be dismissed out of hand because they don’t play in the SEC. If you don’t like that, build a bridge and get over it.

Tomás – Thank you for your kind words.

After Further Review, sir,

Your posts are secretive, a blog post of NOTHING but personal Flames, and personal attacks.

You purport to be on Bulldogs’ blogs to post your viewpoint on Bulldogs football, but it is never what you do. You have carried on a long and detailed vendetta against me personally, personal attacks. You have zero interest in anything to do with Bulldogs’ football. Your knowledge of our football program, and the games we’ve played is totally lacking. You have no insight into our program. Your usual style is to carry on some rant about me, and then you intersperse into that that which you wish to include which you make up yourself and point out is your point of view of what you’ve read. You know nothing about the topics, nor do you have any desire to know anything about the topics – just to attempt to put me down personally.

Your understanding of where The Georgia Bulldogs’ Football Program stands today, or any day in history prior, and where we are looking forward in our program is non-existent, nor do you care.

All you want to do is to run on this blog and say to me that you are so much better than I.

Nothing else.

To be the blog bully and present nothing on the topic at hand, ever – NOT ONCE.

You are AFRAID to carry on a conversation with ANYONE on ANY TOPIC.

You want to hide anything about yourself and yet seem to present yourself without any background to present a viewpoint if you ever did ever in the future present a point of view on the topic at hand, as a guru to correct me.

This is what you want.

Hide who you are.

Hide what you know.

Hide what your credentials may or may not be.

But, present yourself as therefore based upon this utter lack of supporting evidence of your point, as better than I.

That’s all you want.

And, to hide yourself on the Internet and say how much better you than I.

Never anything other than that.

Oh, Thomas Brown, please answer this blazing bloody question burning in my heart.

Try answering a direct question hermit. I thought you said you wanted to have this conversation ? No. You see ? You do not want to have this conversation. You’re the easiest person in the world to debate with because you cannot demand an answer to a damn thing.

We will have been out-rushed in the 14-game season when our Defense has all these NFL Draft selections on it. A senior defense. And, this is because our offense is predicated on throw 1st. A Pass-happy Offense.

853 plays 2012 season.

Not 1 moment of 1 game has any back-up Quarterback been given meaningful opportunity to exploit his abilities. Again, 2012, as in every previous campaign – except for DJ Shockley.

He only because his Dad forced Mark Richt to promise the coach that he would prepare his son as back-up QB.

One would have suspected with Mark Richt’s own status in football as a player himself, and given his significant Calling in Life, that he would’ve tried every year to get the back-ups involved and to design plays that would substantially make them succeed, given their God-Given Talents.

30 have transferred-out who could’ve suited up and been a big help, especially on Defense, in our last game, for example.

Yes, some were forced out.

In each of those cases, too, it could be put-forth, that Mark Richt purposely and specifically, attempted to tell them that he preferred 1 other. Instead. 1 other. Always 1 other. I want this guy. This is my guy.

Running to the Press and Complaining to them of all people that this guy doesn’t have this or that. That this is why they a crowd favorite, are given no meaningful shot. Put them in maybe. But, make them run the play that is designed for the other guy. Not the play which would showcase the unique talent each of 125 men can bring to the table.

Round peg, square hole.

This is what we run.

Not.

(1) Who do we have ?

(2) What is the best play call based upon their unique talent ?

But, instead :

(1) We run this scheme.

(2) The player, in this scheme, playing that position is required to perform the following group of functions and skills, and any deviation from that, or short-comings related to that, mean YOU are not the chosen one, and so, when you do get in, you must do the same as he and run those plays because by God, that is what we run around here. Get it son ?

853 plays

366 passes plus 25 sacks. Sack is a play which would have been a pass.

391 passing plays.

853 plays.

487 rushes including 25 sacks in college counted as a rush.

462 rushes.

54 % rushes in The SEC.

46 % passes in The SEC.

That’s a Pass-Happy Offense.

We threw the football as many times as we ran it.

In The SEC.

Alabama, SEC Champions, ran the football 3 times as much as they allowed.

3 to 1.

Not out-rushed for the season as we will’ve done this season, but ran the ball three times as much as they gave up rushing.

Quite a bit of difference, wouldn’t you say ?

300 % per rush than Alabama gives up rushing.

825 plays Alabama.

300 Passes plus 23 sacks.

323 of 825 plays are Passes for Alabama. More than a-third of Alabama’s plays are pass plays, while again half of our plays are pass plays.

Pass-Happy Offense in The SEC.

We play an ACC-Offense or a Big XII offense in The SEC.

Fish out of water.

LSU 835 plays.

333 passes plus 26 sacks.

359 of 835 plays.

Again, 42 percent LSU plays are pass plays.

180 % more rush than they give up at LSU, too.

We run a Pass-Happy ACC Big XII Offense in The SEC.

It taxes our Defense.

South Carolina.

This is Steve Spurrier, mind you.

803 plays.

329 passes plus 35 sacks.

Again, 45 % passes, and this is Steve Spurrier I point out 2012.

120 % more rush than their opposition 2012.

How do you win football games in The SEC ?

Well, you throw the football as much as you run it, and actually will have given up more yards rush than you established in your own rushing game, when you have a

_________________________________________________________
STABLE RUNNING BACKS 2012 LIKE NEVER IN OUR HISTORY
__________________________________________________________

And, our Opponents will have MORE YARDS RUSHING THAN US.

In The SEC.

Florida.

768 plays.

259 Passes plus 36 sacks.

295 of 768

More than a-third again for Florida, too Passing Plays.

2 to 1 rush compared to gave up rushing Florida.

We run a Pass-Happy Offense in The SEC.

Like we’re some ACC or Big XII team.

Texas A and M :

1 and two-thirds more rush than gave up rushing.

Again.

959 plays Texas A and M

457 Passes plus 23 sacks.

480 of 959

And, even Texas A and M had more than 1 and two-thirds more rush than they gave up rushing.

___________________________________
It’s just us.

We’re the only team who will have GIVEN-UP more rush than we got.

This is because we’re a Pass-1st team.

A Pass-Happy Offense.

We go out there, run a few pass plays, sink or swim.

And, sent the Defense right back out there to defend the run.

54 Scholarship players plus a transfer-in.

Now, we play Nebraska a Top 10 All-Time Football program who beat us the only time we’ve played them.

Vanderbilt is the only other SEC Team who might end up Top 25 for 2012.

115 % more rush than pass.

Not out-rushed 2012 as we’re putting up 2012.

806 plays.

323 passes plus 23 sacks.

346 of 806

42 % of Vanderbilt’s plays are Passes.

We run a PASS-HAPPY OFFENSE.

Anyone beginning to attempt to whine that we’re NOT a Pass-Happy Offense in The SEC, is crazy.

Right ?

We’re going to be out-rushed by our Opponents for this season, while every other SEC team has out-rushed their opponents by LARGE MARGINS.

Nebraska

961 plays.

130 % more rush than they gave up rushing.

Not out-rushed like UGA will’ve put up for 2012.

351 Passes plus 30 sacks.

381 of 961 plays

39 % of Nebraska’s plays are Pass Plays

More than a-third again Nebraska, too, Passing plays.

We run a Pass-Happy Offense.

What is your post in reply, to make my damn point.

Thomas – the only direct question I’ve asked you recently is to explain the apparent inconsistencies in your position on the Georgia defense. Before the Alabama game you lauded the defense, and said that Alabama’s defense was inferior by comparison, naming at least four or five players on the Georgia defense Alabama hd nobody to compare to. After the game you said, basically, that the reason Georgia lost was the amount of running yardage piled up by Alabama against that defense, wheich was not surprising since the defense had been lousy all year agains the run. Why the apparent change of heart?

As to my feelings for the Georgia Bulldogs, I’m not as passionate about them as you and many of the others on these pages are. But I have stated, more than once, that I felt they had a good year this year, As such they should b econgratulated. If you bothered to look, you’d see that I took the “fans” who have been calling for the coaching staff to leave en masse to task for some of their comments, and pointed out that, under Coach RIcht your program has averaged nearly 10 wins a season, and many schools would kill for that kind of consistency.

As for where I went to school, you came on here and announced that I claimed to attend North Central. I simply pointed out you were wrong. I am of the opinion that where I attended school makes no difference at all win what I may or may not know about football. You apparently believe that it does. Franly there are several folks here who seem to have the attaitude that SEC is the only worthwhile football conference in the entire country. I believe that is untrue. I happen to thin\k that there are many schools with a deep footbal tradition outside of the SEC, and even outside the FBS.

Thomas, my apologies. I just realized that I also asked you direct questions recently about what the DUI arrest of the assistant Tech basketball coach had to do with Georgia football, and I also asked you how the fact that they were on probation for cheating was germane to anything surrounding his arrest. Please forgive my inaccuarate statement above when I said that the only direct question had beem about your flip-flop on the Georgia defens.
