Much better than last year … BUT, wwill nebver win a big game with Murray at QB. The pick at the end of the 2nd qtr was horrendous & led to 3 alabama points.

Then at the end of the game, no spike & the ever present tipped ball from Murray.

Also, Rambo can now shut up about how great uga’s defense is. Great defenses dont allow 350 yards rushing. They also make big stops when needed. Like when your team goes up 11 points with 6 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. Instead, alabama’s next 2 drives go 66 yards in 6 plays & 77 yards in 7 plays & your team now trails. SO SHUT UP RAMBO.

Amazing…I am stunned at this loss. As disappointed as Dawg fans are, we should be proud of our guys for fighting until the end. Heartbreaking. I would like to think that we would just reload and go get them next year. Unfortunately, I don’t think so. A loss like this could set us back a couple of years at least….we’ll see. No idea why we didn’t spike the ball…okay, so Bama’s defense had to set up. It wasn’t like they stopped us. Once again, ineptitude costs us a NC. Don’t care what anyone says we would beat ND. Now, the guys can make their NFL plans.

“Can’t criticize the non-spike”? Do a poll of all NFL QBs and you will find out that about 9 out of 10(maybe even all) would say spike it in that situation, and set up two good throws INTO the endzone. Just saw the replay again and neither of the GA receivers on the far right side beyond Conley were IN the endzone. That is a NO-BRAINER. Well, yes, I do know who the GA DAWGS coach is. Guess it fits.

I’m a Tech fan, but I found myself rooting for UGA on that last drive. Unless you are an Alabama fan, how could you help yourself? This was the rare game that lived up to the hype.

I understand you don’t want the AL defense to get set but that didn’t look like the best play call – even if the ball is not tipped.

The clock is dead at 15 seconds. If he spikes the ball when the whistle blows, there is 14 seconds left on the clock & time for three throws to the end zone. From Richt’s earliest years at UGA, he has never truly learned the art of clock management. Even earlier in the last drive, Georgia burned 3 – 5 seconds after each first down (watch the tape).

Very sad to let this opportunity slip away. This was set up for the Dawgs. Their schedule, the way thing broke for them at the end of the saeson & an Alabama team that was beatable. The difference is that alabama is better coached and knows how to win BIG games

I bet Rambo was up there on the tackles list today. Our secondary was having to make almost all the tackles. It was terrible watching our front seven be totally ripped apart in the second half. Our coaches could not figure out a way to get our guys lined up in a way that would allow ‘em to stem the Tide. I was embarrassed with our front seven’s effort today. Most of those guys will be playing on Sundays soon enough, but Alabama showed them what a real offensive line looks like. I hate to admit that, but facts are facts.

I’m surprised more people aren’t talking about Saban’s decision to go for two so early in the second half. That was the difference. Without it, UGA kicks the FG and goes to overtime. I thought it was a mistake at the time, but that’s why Nick makes $5M a year.

Enough of the bowl speculation. Who cares what bowl game Georgia goes to? Aside from the one ND and Bama are playing in, the rest matter as much as NFL preseason games. Just a reason for fans to travel and players to practice. They are not hanging any “Outback Bowl” banners in Sanford stadium.

We lost the game when we decided to punt from our 40 on 4th and 1 with 2:55 to go. Richt/Bobo coached scared. Lost their composure at the end.
This was UGAs year. This team was similar to the 1992 team (Zeier/Hearst/Hastings): Flat out loaded and so talented anybody could win double digits with them (except Chizik).
Never forget we were beat by UCF in a bowl, dismantled by Boise St at home and have not seen Bobo show one iota of progress/evolution over the past half-decade.

Prediction: Richt gone in two years.

I’ve been as hard on UGA and Richt on these blogs as anyone. However, I sensed a change with this team since the Florida victory. Damned proud of UGA and Richt with today’s game. I was there and today, the team didn’t quit like they did last year. Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to the other team.

If they played 10 times Bama woulda beaten them 10 times. UGA was lucky it was close to begin with. They got an int in the end zone to stop one bama drive and got a reprieve from the refs on a ball that was clearly not tipped. The next play they get a backhanded fg block and runback for a cheap td. That was just luck. The reality is that Bama mauled UGA, had about 120 more total yards, 37 minutes time of possession, 8 more first downs. They did everything they could to blow that game and they still ended up winning. If they replayed this game it wouldn’t be close. Bama’s backs would run right at the UGA D and maul them all over again.

One of the absolute greatest games I have ever witnessed.
As I watch 7-5 Wisconsin bludgeon Nebraska in the Big 10 CG, and Florida State slop around with Ga. Tech in the ACC, Alabama and Georgia truly showed the nation what football is all about.

Easily the best game of the year in all sports (except for the fact we lost). I just hate how everybody knows exactly what Richt should have done or not done after the game is over. Once again, Richt and Saban both can coach. The guy for Bama made a great play and tipped a potential game winning td pass. If that pass is not tipped and we score, both guys are still great…GREAT coaches. Richt coached his tail off today.

At the end of the first half Murray..as usual…waits to long…throws a touchdown pass short and 10 yards off line for a pick. Bama scores 3 before half…this was a 10 point swing. Bama has the exact situation and QB hits Cooper in stride. Murray’s pick before half (should have been a touchdown) cost GA the game.

Unbelievable how you can throw a pass that is designed outside the numbers to be thrown on the hash. INEXCUSABLE!

Saban went way too conservative with that prevent defense and also if if if Bama doesn’t give up a cheap TD on a blocked kick or if Bama doesn’t throw an int in the end zone or if Bama doesn’t mismanage the clock the same way at the end of the 1st half then this game wouldn’t have even been close. The better, stronger team won.

I knew we faced an uphill battle when Bama had 150 yards rushing…..in the FIRST HALF. Not too many national champions give up 300 yards rushing in a game like this. This one’s on the D.

I feel for Aaron Murray more than anyone because I really don’t feel like the “can’t win the big one” tag is all that fair.

Maybe we’ll get there one of these days. I’m sure not goin to quit.

Gurley is a great football player. He and Eddie put on a show as did TJ Yeldon. AJ has a hurt shoulder (happened vs Miss State ) and he’s just playing on guts.Amari Cooper is the best receiver to play at Bama and that includes Julio Jones. Bama played 22 freshman (true and redshirt) this year so the future is bright but the SEC is only going to get worse going forward. We really need 8 teams in the playoff.

I don’t care what CMR is saying after the game… you clock it w/ :15 on the refs whistle. You only had 2 or 3 plays tops w/ :13 left. So 1st down doesn’t matter. What mattered was the clock and having a plan. A disheveled offense in that situation produces (and produced) bad results. :13 affords you 2-3 plays AND the opportunity to set up your offense..allow the coaches to reaffirm to the players what to do an what not to do.
The result could have been the same, but by clocking it and giving the offense a chance at 2-3 plays w/ a reset… would give the best chance to win.

By not doing that, the ball wasn’t even snapped until :09… frantic play… bad result. Game over.

Sorry coach, you blew it. They looked like they were not prepared for the situation.
You coached a great game, but when your team needed you most… you blew it.

Richt needs to learn that penalties DO matter and pre-game smack talk is counter productive. Richt blew the spike call and is incapable of admitting his own mistakes. It was a good Georgia effort, but as usual, the best coached team won. Richt will not win a conference championship while Saban is at Alabama, and he will never win a national championship.

Jeff-no loss is easy for any team. My Jackets almost pulled this game out also tonight, went down to the last 1.5 minutes. I am just as sad as the uga fans are for their team. Why not ONE picture, not one story on the front page, all day long about Ga Tech? Nothing, all day long. Why? There are two colleges in this state, both going for conference championships, one gets covered. One lost by 4, one lost by 6. Fair? I think not.

I thought both teams played an excellent game and it was a classic.

Proud of my dawgs. Wish we had clocked it with the 14 or so seconds left on the clock and set up two or three pass plays.

I understand what happened though. Georgia was going to hit a quick pass to the receiver in the end zone at the pylon, but an Alabama lineman tipped the ball and the other receiver being a football player saw it in the air and grabbed it and fell down.

It was a great game. Hold your heads up Dawgs.

the problem I have is the consistancy to which our fanbase embarrasses itself by all the mouth running every year and before almost every game

We havent done nothing in 32 years and we have only beaten 1 top 20 team in 4 yrs; we are 1-11 vs the top 10

and yet the comedy continues with all the mouth running from our fanbase

I’ve been reading the posts on this blog and now have more worries about our country going forward than the total f-up that is Barack Obama (who was referenced by a previous poster). Can most of you read and write? Seriously. Did you actually watch the game? If you did you saw a game that went down to the last 5 seconds. I didn’t say 5 minutes or 55 minutes. Five seconds. If not for an athletic but unwise move by a receiver and UGA has two more shots to win and, odds are, they do. So it is moronic for all of you Mensa Society members (haha) to rail on Richt and Murray. Get a life losers. Alabama won. UGA played the best team in the nation and lost in the last 5 seconds due to a kid making a terrible mental mistake. It wasn’t the quarterback nor the coach. A player on the field screwed up royally. Lay off the criticism. It was a great game. As an aside. Your team just barely lost the in the championship game in the toughest conference and you are calling for the head of your quarterback and coach. You are morons and not worthy of any response. Please ask Mommy to let you stay up later tomorrow night as the Simpsons are on at 8 p.m. Get a life losers.

I have heard many terrible things said about our coaching staff and the players because they lost. This was a great game! Georgia has nothing to be ashamed of. This team played their hearts out and left nothing on the field. You can’t ask anymore. We should be proud of our players and our coaching staff. Wake up Georgia fans, Georgia is an elite program right now. Georgia will continue to do well next year. We played in the SEC championship game two years running. That is a big deal and Georgia will have more opportunities. Go Dawgs!!!

Our players and coaches have some things to be ashamed of after this game. As for the fans? Well, we don’t go out there and play. All we can do is complain and bemoan what might have been. If nothing else, we learned that our defensive front was not physical enough to handle an extremely talented offensive line. That front seven will be different next season, so there is a possibility for improvement in spite of the expected heavy losses there. Let’s hope the new guys can show those newly-minted NFL rookies how it’s done in 2013.

Say all you want about the last drive and poor clock management, not stopping AL just one time during their 3 TD run would have meant a win for the dawgs. Blame the defense, esp the front 7 for poor tackling (no leg tackles but once!!) and CTG for not being able to stop AL on any of those drives!! He waited on AL’s last drive to bring the LB’s up in run support. Blame also lies on our FG kicker. He makes that FG and GA needs only a FG to win aT THE End of the game instead of having to go for a TD. If GA has any scholly’s left this year they should get another FG kickewr signed. This kid stinks!!! I agree w/one of the above bloggers, it was this year the dawgs had their best shot. The cupboard will be bare on D next season. If AM leaves, it’ll hurt the O in spite of what folks think of him. He didn’t cost GA this game. The D should of stopped AL, plain and simple.

Georgia was very prepared and absolutely ready to play the game. They lost a coin toss essentially. But, they were out-gained 512-394 and gave up 350 yards on the ground. The difference in the game was the mismatch between Alabama’s offensive line and the GA D-Line and LBs. Jarvis Jones was not physical in the trenches.
Interestingly, when ALA went down 21-10 they went right to the ground game and turned it around. I felt going into the game that the team that won would smoke Notre Dame. And, ALA will knock Notre Dame out by early 3rd Quarter.
Simply, The athletes in the SEC are just better. Bigger, stronger, faster, and just more physical. ND has no idea what’s about the happen to them.
Congratulations to GA for a game well played and an outstanding year. They should be going to BSC instead of FLA….

Respect? Are you kidding, if uga hadnt of played that soft schedule they never would have been in that game. They lost to 2 of the 3 good teams they played and the third had 6 turnovers. Easy to play one hard game a year. Thetis game wasn’t as close as the score. Once all those d players leave uga will be right back to middle of the pack with richt back on the hot seat.

How do I know that 4 of Bama’s OL will be in the NFL next year? Because three of them are seniors and are projected to be high draft choices and the other is a junior projected to go in the 1st round. UGA will have one DL go in the 1st round – senior nose guard John Jenkins. Both starting DE’s will return to UGA. UGA will probably lose two starting jr. LB’s early in the 1st round and both of UGA’s safeties will be drafted in the 1st or 2nd round. They have one CB who will go probably 2nd or 3rd round. Hopefully junior Kwame Gaethers will return and start at NT. One starting DE will return – the other was a senior out injured for this game and he will be drafted – maybe 3rd or 4th round. So UGA will be mostly new next year. If Murray returns there will be 9 starters back on the offense. Both kickers are freshmen.

Thieves Steal 800 Bags of Dog Food

ATLANTA — December 1, 2012

Authorities are investigating the theft of over 20,000 pounds of dog food from a pet shop in southeast Atlanta.

WSB-TV reports Intown Healthy Hound was burglarized after closing Wednesday, and the store’s owner returned to find thieves had stolen 800 bags of dog food from the shop.

James Galloway, the store’s owner, told the television station the stolen food was worth about $35,000.

Police say the thieves targeted an all-natural brand that is hard to find in many pet shops across Georgia.

Authorities say the suspects cut a hole in the fence of a building next door, climbed through a window and used a forklift to load pallets of the dog food into a getaway vehicle.

Police say the store is not equipped with a surveillance camera or alarm.

I read 1 blog that says it was not our rushing defense which lost the game. Yes, it was. When make 6 first downs running the ball and they make 18 first downs rushing the ball and you have what we have in the ability to run the football 2012, there is a-no excuse for giving up on running the football and b-what were we thinking? Seems to me that we always knew Nick Saban and Alabama were going to run the football. We knew before the game, at half-time adjustments, and at the end of the game, that all Alabama was going to do was to run the football. Our game strategy had to be that Nick Saban would run the football, and that we must take that away from them. After 13 games, you can attempt to try to say that we had OL issues as an excuse for us not running the football getting Keith Marshall the ball in space. But, we never tried to run the football, preferring to pass instead. It’s what we do. The reason we lost the game, and did not look good many other games all season long, is that when you have 11 defensive players playing their last meaningful game here, you cannot be the number 79 in the country rush defense for the entire season. This is SEC for heaven’s sake. A passing offense who doesn’t have any commitment to running the football, cannot be number 79 nationally after 13 games in rushing defense. And, there is no excuse for it.

I promised myself I would never cry again after my Braves were robed in the play in game but last night I cried again! I am proud of UGA! They fought to the end! It HURTS BUT after I slept over my hang over and thought about it, atleast our teams are in the hunt, Great season UGA gave us and now after the Braves and UGA, we are lucky enough to have another shot with the Falcons. Yes it hurts but ppl think before u type. Don’t curse out our coach or Murray!!!!!!! They try to win to make us fans happy and I could not do any better and you could not either!!!!!!!!! It’s simple. They are a running team, and we did not stop that all season as number 79 rush defense after 13 games. The game was too simple before the kickoff. We never adjusted to it. How can we be number 79 nationally after 13 games with all this talent on defense now leaving us to the NFL? Aaron Murray played well enough for him to have been the difference in the game. But all season long, we’re number 79 rush defense after 13 games. It’s going to be a long offseason, knowing we’re number 79 rush defense with all this talent.

I think all of us in retrospect could second guess the decisions made in this game for the rest of our lives. We could even wonder why an official who has been specifically trained to protect college athletes from injury, would be about 10 feet from a quarterback who was blind-sided with helmet to helmet contact and not throw a penalty flag. Something is fishy about this picture! Could a few other flags have possibly stayed in pockets that should have been thrown? But, for one, I have never been prouder of the fight that our team gave! Bama knew they were in a football game for its duration. It’s just a shame that UGA doesn’t have the clout for a rematch like some schools do, because right now the Dawgs are at least the second best team in the nation if not the best. Of course, UGA (as the SEC Runner-up) will likely drop significantly in the polls and play in a non-BCS bowl, while teams of far less quality will be rewarded.

To the entire dog nation (AH’s too):
The fact is you controlled your own destiny. If you won last night, you play for the BCS Championship Game against Notre Dame and have a chance to win your first National Championship in 32 years. If you lost, you knew that you would fall behind Florida in the BCS rankings and not be eligible for a BCS bowl (no conference gets to send more than two teams). You knew this for over a week.
Everyone in college football knows that the BCS system is a crap shoot and that’s why it is being shelved in 2 more years. It sucks now, but it is what it is-an “everybody wins a trophy” type of system. While wanna bees like Louisville etc., get rewarded for underachievement, georgia needs to go to the Cotton Bowl, beat Texas by 30 and finish up a legitimate top 5 team! Think of where you came from just a few short years ago!
I could not be more proud of your players and coaches. They are top notch, though I think Grantham should have made adjustments and lined up Jarvis Jones in the middle instead of outside in the 2nd half. Same run defense, just more inside stunts and different looks for Alabama’s massive offensive line to contend with.
Nevertheless, Grantham is a great coach and georgia prepared for and played a tremendous game in the national spotlight. They won the hearts of many outside of the dog Nation (use Google and see for yourself). Coach Richt, Bobo, Grantham and company have brought you all the way back to national prominence. You can now compete NATIONALLY on the field and in the living room of the best recruits in America!
However, though I have gained a lot of respect for the Georgia program, I would not hesitate rolling one of you if you bark in my face in public.

Hey Falcon, I love my home town newspaper. I love they way they feed the UGA hype machine, I like the way your fans and players always jump on their bandwagon, then I like to read the comments from heartbroken dog fans after a UGA loss.

After that last drive which failed and led to Georgia’s demise-I’ve concluded that: I don’t like A. Murray, don’t like the coaches decision to NOT spike the ball, didn’t like the peanut throw to the defender outside of the endzone-What was he thinking? That was the dumbest thrown ball ever. If you know that time is winding down-why wouldn’t you spike it for another play call? I’ve couldn’t believe it when I saw it. If coaching was involved-that’s sad-and Georgia deserved that loss.

Richt went from a great coaching call (punting with under 3 minutes, holding 2 timeouts) to a horrendous one (not spiking the ball). One coaching call like that (whether it was Richt’s or Bobo’s) can mean the difference between playing for a National Championship and going to the Capital One Bowl. Sorry, Dawg fans, your coaches blew it and they know it. From ESPN: “Bulldogs offensive coordinator Mike Bobo said that if he had to do it over again, he would have instructed Murray to spike the ball to stop the clock. “Yeah, hindsight is easy,” Bobo said. “We’d have done it if I had to do it over. I would have liked to give us three shots in the end zone. There was confusion getting lined up. We didn’t get it lined up correctly.” How are you not prepared for that???? That’s just terrible. Saban, Meyer, etc. don’t make that mistake … and they have multiple NC’s to show for it.

SEC fans are a uniques bunch of homers. True Buckeyes would never pull for Michigan nor would Wolverine fans pull for OSU in a national title game. Winning championships attracts top players to a program. Bama will beat ND and again win the NC and have an amazing recruiting class. Bama will be back in the NC game again next year. They need to lose a NC game and maybe the top players will look at the other SEC teams. Coach Saban and Urban The Legend are by far the best in the nation. OSU and BAMA would be a great NC game, QB Miller would present Bama the same problems as Johnny Football did. No Dawg fan here, but a great game. Seems like I remember some clock management issues earlier in Richt’s tenure. Not sure why you don’t spike it and compose yourself for a last shot. Also, while spectacular, the blocked kick and run for six might have worked against the Dawgs. The defense was already gassed and then they are put right back on the field. The hands on the hips and the heavy panting told the story. You could also see it in their eyes. Nothing against them or the coaching. No defense could take being on the field that long against Bama’s offense. They just used all the fuel in the tank and Bama was able to run through them.

I was very proud of the way the Dawgs played. I was afraid that Alabama was going to do a SC on us, and that didn’t happen. What I saw was two very evenly matched teams plying hard and well against ech other. Ther are always should-have, could-have, would-haves after a game, but this was a great game and we just happened to be down at the end.

I will say congratulations to Alabma on one play – the decision to go for two points and then make them. That decision (and the execution) meant that Georgia could not kick a field goal at the end to tie it up and send the game into overtime (or if Alabama DIDN’T make the two points, to win the game). That was a gutsy call and good execution that worked well for them.

Jawga is a middle of the pack team who, on occasion, plays a good game. That is to be expected when you only have to get ready to play 2 or 3 games a year. The reality is UGA is 1-2 against top level opposition. This is similar to many other teams in the SEC and UGA is no more deserving of a BCS Bowl than LSU or Texas A&M.

FIRE MARK RICHT, how many times? how many years does ONE guy have to prove to the entire world that he can’t get it done? Every year, and I mean every year it is the same excuses, ” they played a good game “, ” the refs were cheating”, ” they should have done this “, ” they should have done that “. “” FIRE MARK RICHT “”, DO THAT, and you can double- quote me on that. Until GA fans stop making excuses and look at the common factor year after year, nothing will change. MARK RICHT IS THE FACTOR, it’s not rocket science. Mark Richt is another Bobby Cox, these guys don’t care if they lose, it’s alright to them. Mark Richt is a wimpy coach with no backbone. He inspires his guys to play but he does not inspire his guys to win. He suffers the same syndrome of a Bobby Cox, and these guys infect their players with a play the game for fun mentality, instead of a play the game to win mentality and that is why they continue to lose.

It’s not rocket science or quantum physics, “FIRE MARK RICHT “, and get a coach with heart and with the passion to win. The people of Georgia have got to get fed up with this mediocre sports scene here in this state, and stop making excuses for failure. “Pourous” – you know nothing about football. You can’t expect ANY DEFENSE to be effective when your offense can’t maintain possession of the football. Bama held the ball for 2/3 of the game – eventually those guys are going to get gassed and start giving up plays. That is how it went down – most of those yards are on Bobo.

Bad decision at the end of the game goes on coaching. At the end you can see Murray’s arm motion indicating he is expecting to spike the ball. He’s looking to the sidelines probably for confirmation. The decision not to spike falls on Bobo and Richt. Terrible decision. Who knows what could have happened if we had been able to run a couple more plays. Also, penalties again killed us. UGA had 7 penalties to Alabama’s 2. Lack of discipline is the norm under this coaching staff. Also, the question to Richt after the game about not being able to win big games is a valid question. It’s one a lot of fans want answered and addressed. Maybe it was bad timing but Richt needs to own up to it. The record is there and cannot be ignored.

The following teams will lose to Georgia in 2013 regardless of what decision Aaron Murray makes on whether to come back and regardless of what decisions the juniors on Georgia’s team make: South Carolina, Vandy, Tennessee, Ga Tech, Missouri, North Texas, Appalachian State, either LSU or Florida and possibly Auburn again depending on who they find for their coach. Only Florida and South Carolina are SEC East contenders in 2013, and if Georgia can get by Florida again, which is very plausible, and depending on Florida’s schedule, it is very likely they win the SEC East again which was not expected in 2012 after the South Carolina debacle. Alabama will likely not win the West in 2013 due to the many personnel losses, so Texas A&M or LSU are likely headed to the Dome. Georgia is likely to return their entire offense minus King and Brown at the WR spots who graduate.

I bet Rambo was up there on the tackles list today. Our secondary was having to make almost all the tackles. It was terrible watching our front seven be totally ripped apart in the second half.

Um, it’s called domination by atheletes with superior strength. Georgia is a finesse team, always will be under Richt. Bama is old school, they pound the rock. What you saw is what they do, and you were not equipped to deal with it. Doesn’t matter the alignment. Just admit you got bitch slapped by a bunch of big bodies and move on.

The game was eeriely similar to the game played in the GA Dome just two days prior. One team dominated the stats, but was losing, even though the score was close. Rather than Drew Brees passing to the middle of the field with no time outs and 15 seconds left, Aaron Murray passed to the middle of the field with 15 seconds left and no time outs. Both times were at the end of a half, when the game could have changed, had incompletions instead been thrown.

Trapped in a mirror, with no escape. Looking in while looking out, frozen in time and history. Believing their reality is now dispair, when for so long they could do no wrong. But, do houses have influence? Can buildings take one’s talents and turn them upside down and inside out? They can … in the Twilight Zone.

Say goodbye to Georgia’s national title hopes. This was their one and only shot. And, yes, they played a great game against a great team, but they were only in this position in the first place because of a cupcake schedule. They faced two real teams during the regular season and got drilled by one (S.C.) and barely beat the other even though it practically beat itself for them (Florida). Next year the schedules get easier for S.C. and Florida, while Georgia adds Clemson and LSU and a more experienced Florida team. And after THAT, the playoff system moves into place, meaning Georgia will have no choice but to beat MULTIPLE quality teams to win a national title. And guess what? Never. Gonna. Happen. Enjoy the rest of the Mark Richt era, Bullpuppy fans, because this loss just guaranteed that you’ll never win a national title under Richt.
