Before we get to this week’s big question — will Georgia be caught looking ahead to the SEC Championship game, the BCS title game, world domination, next year’s rankings, global peace, contact with an alien life form and a voice from a burning bush somehow lose to Georgia Tech — let’s get to what really matters.
The continuing devolution of mankind. I speak, of course, of Black Friday.
Once we’ve finished our annual Thursday tradition of consuming four helpings of turkey, three pieces of ham, 17 side dishes, six rolls (or was it seven?), three desserts and a Diet Coke and lapsing into a food coma, we’ll segue into Shopping on Steroids. Black Friday is that wonderful time when we rise at 3 a.m. after four hours of sleep to save $40 on a laptop, $6 on a sweatshirt and 27 cents on Play-Doh.

December wasn't good enough. He just had to start after Thanksgiving.
We’ll be overcome by feelings of a tremendous conquest, until the following week when these same items are on sale for the same price, only without the 400-pound, fire-breathing woman who elbowed you in the head the week before as she reached for the $12 Crock-Pot.
The first Black Friday came following the first Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1924, when Santa Claus finished waving to little children, complained of a sore rump and a headache and said, “That wasn’t worth 50 bucks. Where’s my scotch?”
Stay in bed. I’ll generate riches for you so you can afford things full retail!
I’ll make this quick: Georgia is better than Georgia Tech at every single position. The Bulldogs have the added advantage of not having had to fire their defensive coordinator or seeing their athletic director quit for another job. Does Tech have a chance? Of course. Weird things happen in rivalry games. But I’ll side with facts: Better players, more at stake, home field.
It’s Red-and-Black Saturday: Dogs win and cover 13.

Here are some others coaches Saban is fond of.
Florida at FSU: The Gators have looked crummy the past few weeks. Will Muschamp’s retort: “We don’t win sexy, but my wife said, ‘You’re sexy.’” Show up in Tallahassee with leopard-skin briefs and a silk robe and just watch what Chief Osceola does with that flaming spear. However: Upset alert! Florida wins (but take the 8 just in case).
Auburn at Alabama: Nick Saban on Gene Chizik: “I personally think he’s done a really fine job.” Think of a fisherman praising the dead flounder in his boat. Bammy covers 31½.
LSU at Arkansas: Three future 7-Eleven night managers have recorded a song, pleading Jon Gruden to take the Arkansas job. The “Hey Grude” (sung to “Hey Jude”) video went viral — kind of like smallpox. Gruden hasn’t responded. He’s hoping Chernobyl comes through with a better benefits package. Tigers cover 12.
Three non-MBA’s from Arkansas
South Carolina at Clemson: Steve Spurrier has a chance to become South Carolina’s all-time winningest coach. I think that’s like holding the Double-A career hits record. (Bang! And here comes the email.) Clemson covers 4.

Meet the trophy boy for UK-UT: "Battle for the Barrel."
Help Wanted Bowl: Kentucky and Tennessee meet in the annual “Battle for the Barrel. But with two fired coaches and 14 SEC losses between them, UT might need a lure to get students to show up, like free sandwiches. Or tuition. Vols cover 13.
Miami at Duke: The NCAA sent semi-threatening letters to former Miami players, demanding evidence against infamous rich creep Nevin Shapiro. If the NCAA just throws a party on a yacht instead, I’m sure all of the players would show up. Canes cover 6½.
Maryland at North Carolina: Question: When Maryland cut a deal with the Big Ten, did school administrators have to dress up as, you know, like naughty nurses or something? Or was everybody just cool with the cash being left on the nightstand? Heels cover 24½.
Welcome to the Maryland School of Bidness
NFL TRIFECTA
Falcons at Tampa Bay: Matt Ryan threw five interceptions last week. Hey, maybe he just wanted to get it out of his system before the playoffs. (Sorry. Can’t help myself.) Falcons cover 1.
Packers at Giants: Jermichael Finley on Aaron Rodgers: “If I could throw myself the ball and run under it, I’d do it every play because he’s just not throwing me the ball like he used to.” Smart. He might want to bring a book this week. Giants cover 2½.
49ers at Saints: Paul Tagliabue says he’ll rule on the Saints’ bounty penalties by Dec. 4. So don’t be surprised if Jonathan Vilma jumps bail after the Falcons’ game in two weeks and hides in your bushes. San Fran covers 2.

Lilly Pick of the Week: Lilly is on a four-game winning streak since her one-week furlough. This week, it was a choice between cheese-accessorized pictures of Uga and Buzz. She went with her species. Dogs win.

Never before in the history of the BCS has such an undisciplined gang of illiterates, thugs, illegal drug users, woman-beaters, public urinators, drunks, jailbirds, and low-life morons come so close to backing into the title game. Fortunately for the integrity of the game, Alabama will send these pretenders and their low-rent fantards fleeing back to their mobile home parks and their wretched welfare existence.

You know seeing people blogging ridicolous statements about Georgias players and our school tells me that going to Tech hasnt done a thing for them.
It should tell you why Tech isnt a school of choice as it is a school of conveinance or location for all those people living in Atlanta.
The only sport Tech grads should brag about at all is basketball. UGA has you not only in football but tennis, golf, volley ball, gymnastics, softball, ladies basketball, and more.
Those Smog Smokers that go to Tech really need to stay off the blog pages because its football season and youre not going to convince people that Tech has a great football program.
Yeah any team can upset or win a game and coaches arent judged on winning against one team as much as their overall record.
Mark Richt has been at Georgia for 12 seasons and in that time i believe that Tech has had 3 coaches and even had one head coach falsify documents to Notre Dame after he got the job but was immediately fired.
I dont think that Dawg Fans hate you as much as we feel sorry for your school. Other than playing us once a year im sure Dawg Fans like to see Tech win some games but in the football world you stink and often times i think Ga. Tech should go to a less competitive Division like D 2-A to play.
Its not that you have better scholastics or athletic programs than Georgia, its because youre more conveinant to Atlantans to be there.
Smarter people dont go to Tech ,they go there because its conveinant and a smaller school with all those buildings jammed in one place.
Where everything is built on top of eachother, where i hear they now offer courses on “Drive-by shootings”.
You cant expand and if you then you have to tear something up to build it. Georgias campuses are spread out, beautiful scenary without the Smog Effect.
No drive-by at night, no hold ups, no crammed buildings, no parking problems, no traffic problems and no graffitti on side of buildings.
Ive lived here all my life just below Atlanta and go thru that mess every morning afternoon and theres no way i’d ever live there MUCHLESS attend college there.
Georgia State is just as bad.
Heck Morris Brown has a better campus than Tech.
Nah alot of recruits go to Tech for conveinance and for The Varsity, and bars.
To get on here and talk about how great it is to be a Tech Fan is just dillusional , kinda reminds me of a midget waving at you asking for help in a concert so he can see it.
Just very odd that your statements make sense.

True RMike, every time tech starts doing well a REAL program comes and gets the coach and hires him away. True sign of a terrible football team. Of course, nobody wants Johnson because of his high school scheme. The delusional techies are screwed for years after they run him off too because he’s recruited for that stupid style of football and the new coach will have to do some serious rebuilding. Love it.

FACT: During the 1986 Jan Kemp trial, Hale Almand Jr., a lawyer for UGA, offered a justification for the favorable treatment accorded the athletes, citing a typical UGA player. “We may not make a university student out of him,” he told the jury, “but if we can teach him to read and write, maybe he can work at the post office rather than as a garbageman when he gets through with his athletic career.”
That trial exposed UGA for the football factory that it was, and exposed slimy Vince Dooley as a fraud and a sleazebag. It also derailed Dooley’s plans for a political career in the U.S. Congress. That’s why we see the decrepit old fraud doing TV commercials even now.
Mark Richt is just the latest in a line of douchebag UGA coaches who coddle athletes and discard them after four years of football. He recruits illiterate thugs he knows aren’t remotely intelligent enough for college, but he doesn’t care, as long as they help him line his pockets with millions of dollars each year.
Saint Mark isn’t quite all he appears to be, is he?

Georgia is bigger and if they don’t lose energy after Turkey day eating than they can win.? Tech can move the ball early in game, you might see them as winner. Either way I win, since years ago, I had a cheerleader on each team, one at Georgia, one at Tech. Great rivalry then, great rivalry now. Good luck to the winner. bob

GEORGIA TECH at GEORGIA
Edward Aschoff: The Bulldogs got some good practice with the triple-option offense last week against Georgia Southern. And they won’t be bothered by what Georgia Tech has to offer in a game that will bring Georgia one step closer to a national championship berth. … Georgia 41, Georgia Tech 21
Chris Low: This is right where Georgia hoped to be when the season began. The Bulldogs, who didn’t look like a national championship contender for much of October, now control their destiny. Strange things tend to happen in rivalry games like this, but the Bulldogs aren’t about to have a slip-up now. … Georgia 38, Georgia Tech 20

2. Gators on the ROAD don’t have a chance.

6. Vols cover. They can SCORE and Score but they finally have enough D to stop a team.
7. Miami loses to DUKE and it isn’t in basketball.
8. UNC doesn’t cover. They have to let the starter start writing their own papers to be eligible for next year.

If I’m not mistaken, since the game is being played in Athens, this means there will be ACC refs on the field and an SEC person in the replay booth. Hopefully this will mean the refs will know the difference between a cut block and a chop block because they’ve been exposed to GA Tech’s offense in the past, and the team won’t get a bogus call against them (like Georgia Southern did last weekend).
I also expect Paul Johnson is very pleased, coming into the game, his Yellow Jacket team is such a large underdog to the mighty Bulldogs. I think that “us against the world” motivational approach on top of the “gold old fashion hate,” piled on top of “we’re the ACC Coastal Champions” and “they’re the SEC Eastern Conference Champions”…and then Paul Johnson will probably finish his little “talk” with a gentle “reminder” of what happened at the end of last season on Grant Field with the UGA players.
I expect the Jackets to be fired up Saturday, and very aggressive the entire game. UGA will probably hit some big plays, but they’re also going to take some big hits and get tackled behind the line of scrimmage, too, including Murray getting sacked. I also think Tech is going for turnovers – interceptions, ball strips, blindsiding Murray to try to get him to fumble, maybe even a blocked kick.

Wasn’t it just a couple of years ago when Georgia had a mediocre season and then lost to Central Florida? How soon do we all forget those bad years; that goes for both sides!. When it’s a close game it’s because Tech over-achieves and Georgia underachieves! C’mon we all know that a 5 star loaded team should beat a 2 and 3 star roster. What is the Big surprise? Happy Thanksgiving to all!!

This wretched Kentucky team is favored by 13 over ANYBODY? Come on Jeff, that must be a misprint.
Given that Kentucky broke a 27 game losing streak against UT last year with a linebacker at QB and has won very few games with a QB at QB, if I was Joker Phillips I’d start the linebacker again and go out with a bang. Maybe wear throwback uniforms and run the single wing.
