Before we get to this week’s big question — will Georgia be caught looking ahead to the SEC Championship game, the BCS title game, world domination, next year’s rankings, global peace, contact with an alien life form and a voice from a burning bush somehow lose to Georgia Tech — let’s get to what really matters.
The continuing devolution of mankind. I speak, of course, of Black Friday.
Once we’ve finished our annual Thursday tradition of consuming four helpings of turkey, three pieces of ham, 17 side dishes, six rolls (or was it seven?), three desserts and a Diet Coke and lapsing into a food coma, we’ll segue into Shopping on Steroids. Black Friday is that wonderful time when we rise at 3 a.m. after four hours of sleep to save $40 on a laptop, $6 on a sweatshirt and 27 cents on Play-Doh.

December wasn't good enough. He just had to start after Thanksgiving.
We’ll be overcome by feelings of a tremendous conquest, until the following week when these same items are on sale for the same price, only without the 400-pound, fire-breathing woman who elbowed you in the head the week before as she reached for the $12 Crock-Pot.
The first Black Friday came following the first Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1924, when Santa Claus finished waving to little children, complained of a sore rump and a headache and said, “That wasn’t worth 50 bucks. Where’s my scotch?”
Stay in bed. I’ll generate riches for you so you can afford things full retail!
I’ll make this quick: Georgia is better than Georgia Tech at every single position. The Bulldogs have the added advantage of not having had to fire their defensive coordinator or seeing their athletic director quit for another job. Does Tech have a chance? Of course. Weird things happen in rivalry games. But I’ll side with facts: Better players, more at stake, home field.
It’s Red-and-Black Saturday: Dogs win and cover 13.

Here are some others coaches Saban is fond of.
Florida at FSU: The Gators have looked crummy the past few weeks. Will Muschamp’s retort: “We don’t win sexy, but my wife said, ‘You’re sexy.’” Show up in Tallahassee with leopard-skin briefs and a silk robe and just watch what Chief Osceola does with that flaming spear. However: Upset alert! Florida wins (but take the 8 just in case).
Auburn at Alabama: Nick Saban on Gene Chizik: “I personally think he’s done a really fine job.” Think of a fisherman praising the dead flounder in his boat. Bammy covers 31½.
LSU at Arkansas: Three future 7-Eleven night managers have recorded a song, pleading Jon Gruden to take the Arkansas job. The “Hey Grude” (sung to “Hey Jude”) video went viral — kind of like smallpox. Gruden hasn’t responded. He’s hoping Chernobyl comes through with a better benefits package. Tigers cover 12.
Three non-MBA’s from Arkansas
South Carolina at Clemson: Steve Spurrier has a chance to become South Carolina’s all-time winningest coach. I think that’s like holding the Double-A career hits record. (Bang! And here comes the email.) Clemson covers 4.

Meet the trophy boy for UK-UT: "Battle for the Barrel."
Help Wanted Bowl: Kentucky and Tennessee meet in the annual “Battle for the Barrel. But with two fired coaches and 14 SEC losses between them, UT might need a lure to get students to show up, like free sandwiches. Or tuition. Vols cover 13.
Miami at Duke: The NCAA sent semi-threatening letters to former Miami players, demanding evidence against infamous rich creep Nevin Shapiro. If the NCAA just throws a party on a yacht instead, I’m sure all of the players would show up. Canes cover 6½.
Maryland at North Carolina: Question: When Maryland cut a deal with the Big Ten, did school administrators have to dress up as, you know, like naughty nurses or something? Or was everybody just cool with the cash being left on the nightstand? Heels cover 24½.
Welcome to the Maryland School of Bidness
NFL TRIFECTA
Falcons at Tampa Bay: Matt Ryan threw five interceptions last week. Hey, maybe he just wanted to get it out of his system before the playoffs. (Sorry. Can’t help myself.) Falcons cover 1.
Packers at Giants: Jermichael Finley on Aaron Rodgers: “If I could throw myself the ball and run under it, I’d do it every play because he’s just not throwing me the ball like he used to.” Smart. He might want to bring a book this week. Giants cover 2½.
49ers at Saints: Paul Tagliabue says he’ll rule on the Saints’ bounty penalties by Dec. 4. So don’t be surprised if Jonathan Vilma jumps bail after the Falcons’ game in two weeks and hides in your bushes. San Fran covers 2.

Lilly Pick of the Week: Lilly is on a four-game winning streak since her one-week furlough. This week, it was a choice between cheese-accessorized pictures of Uga and Buzz. She went with her species. Dogs win.

Exactly Ellijay. They tell us they just recruited the kids with the highest GPA in High School all with the highest SAT scores and then less than half every time graduate ?
What a great school is a school where you flunk-out college drop-outs the highest GPA and highest SAT ?
That’s what makes a school a great school ?

Just a repeat blog for the “doubters”. If UGa runs the table they will have possibly played “on the road” 2 teams ranked # 1 most of the season (Bama and ND), the # 2 team (FL) until UGa beat them, and # 3 (SC) the week after they beat the DAWGS. I don’t think there is a single “contender” who can make that claim. Only Bama can say 1-2 (ND, LSU). The moral of this story is that UGa will have played the toughest schedule (based on top 5 teams) if they run the table. Hard to argue with facts you doubters.

Why do Techies keep bringing up “45-42″? That is ancient history and the only blemish on CMR’s record. All that score does is remind me that CMR has ONLY won 90-95% of his games against GT…not 100%. Still, that’s an “A” any way you try to cut it. Thanks for the reminder Techies.

42-45 Don’t you understand ?
All Georgie tek cares about is to beat us.
They do not care how, why, when, how, where, what the circumstances are, whether the ball was fumbled they beat us on, whether the ball was not fumbled they beat us on, how bad their coach is, how bad their quarterback is, whether any of their players graduate or not, nothing – the only thing that matters is that they beat us.

Whether they go out and sign our own players and pay them to play for them because the year before they did not win any games, and we did.
Whether our guys are off at World War I fighting for them to stay here collecting players from every other school and claim how great they were while we and our coach were in France.
Whether again in World War II, our players are again off at war, and they once again put together a team of players who again are not Georgie tek students.
Nothing matters in all this world.
Play the FBI Most Wanted Criminal against us the whole entire football game.
Anything.
Beg.
Borrow.
Cheat.
Just to Hell with Georgia like their daddy used to do.
Just beat us.
Nothing else matters.
There is zero reason for us to playing this team.
Instead, what we should do is move the Florida game to the last game of the season, and play them HOME and HOME, or HOME and wherever they want to play their games – the stadium where the Gator Bowl has been held every year since 1946, or wherever they choose.
There is nothing to be gained by beating the brains out of the nerds.

I love the way GT likes to bring in the “academic” piece when they get kicked by UGa. It is a rare, rare occasion when GT loses a recruit to UGa because of “academic” qualifications. GT loses recruits to UGa because UGa is in Athens (consistently voted one of the top college towns in America). GT loses recruits because the UGa campus is so beautiful vs. uglier than ugly!!! UGa has numerous (diversified)programs like: Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy, Law, Engineering, etc. UGa has great coaches and a great tradition vs GT with ? And ancient history. UGa has Sanford Stadium. that is full on Saturdays vs. that butt ugly Grant Field/Bobby Dodd Stadium that is only partially filled….and mostly with visiting team fans. Most importantly, UGa has gorgeous women and GT has……… So Techies, you really don’t lose recruits because of “ACADEMICS” that is just a good excuse, and as an old coach once told me, “excuses are for losers”!!!

Good Morning buckeye.
Happy Thanksgiving
What I said buckeye, was that there is not 1 single solitary Ohio State University football player who has ever done anything, while The Georgia Bulldogs have 5 players who have Won The NFL Championship Game Most Valuable Player Award. Your answer was Chris Spielman, an ESPN broadcaster – when all ESPN is known for is purposely building up 1 player Tim Tebow for example, or 1 team, Southern California for example at the expense of other players and other teams. They want to not report the sports’ news. ESPN Chris Spielman especially, wants to create the news, bend the news, shape the opinions of the sports’ world. ESPN wants to dominate the news. As a player, Chris Spielman what ? Won 1 bowl game ? He certainly did not bring any national championship to Ohio State. In fact, his years were the lean years. His NFL career, also brought his teams NOTHING. Every year but 1 his NFL teams never won a play-off game. No, Chris Spielman has done NOTHING, after being drafted in the 2nd round of the NFL draft and nothing at Ohio State Unversity either. Nor at ESPN. This is your best example. Charley Trippi, by himself, runs rings around anyone on Ohio State University football teams or what they did after they left Ohio State University, and he is but 1 of many key Georgia Bulldogs through the years who have actually DONE SOMETHING. Ohio State University ? Never. Not 1 player at Ohio State University has EVER DONE anything.

Talk about Ohio State University. Talk about Ohio State University. Where is Ohio State University ranked in the AP Poll. I’ll be back in a minute, buckeye warns us, leaving to go see where Ohio State University is ranked, forgiving them of what they have done.
Archie Griffin – 2-time Heisman Trophy Winner, never did a thing. In the NFL, he ended up 3rd string tailback on his team. One season he got nearly 690 yards rushing. I mean wow. # 24 NFL draft selection of the Bengals.
Vernon Gholston – New York Jets took a flyer on with the # 6 pick in the NFL Draft. Vernon Gholston made 34 tackles over 3 seasons and out of the NFL.
Art Schlichter – started 6 games losing all 6, never completed even half his passes, gambling issues led NFL to kick him out of NFL, let him back, more of the same, and ticket fraud. Currently serving 10-year prison sentence after being selected with the # 4 overall NFL Draft pick by the Baltimore Colts.
Exactly 1 year ago today, Ohio State University tailback Jaamal Berry was arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct after police say he punched a man in the face and then bragged about it.
According to a list compiled by The Associated Press, 20 Ohio State players were arrested or faced disciplinary action for rules violations between Tressel’s hiring in 2001 and 2005.
A number of the arrests were alcohol-related, but one player pleaded guilty to robbery, and another pleaded guilty to felony charges related to drug and gun possession. Two others were suspended after being charged with marijuana trafficking and passing fake in-house currency at a strip club.
Tressel may wear a sweater vest, but that doesn’t mean he tolerates such thuggery. Quarterback Troy Smith, who this season brought Ohio State its seventh Heisman Trophy, was convicted of misdemeanor disorderly conduct after a 2003 fight in a campus parking lot, where, a woman reported, her jaw had been broken.
Ohio State University is known as well as a group who think they are special putting THE in front of Ohio State University, while most of their fans are bandwagon fans who have little to no affiliation with the school what so ever. But, we are supposed to talk about them in here. Insisted we discuss Ohio State University.
buckeye – happy ?
This is what Ohio State University is, and it is the perception of Ohio State University nationally. And, you run in here on the UGA blogs to demand we discuss it.

Here is the national perception of Ohio State University :
Maurice Clarett : His rap sheet at Ohio State University prior to being dismissed from the team consisted of filing a false police report, academic misconduct, tumultuous life outside of football, including his dismissal from Ohio State, several arrests, and later, imprisonment. He also had spats with coaches on the sidelines and got into a public war with school administrators over various issues. Led Ohio State University to a national championship in 2002, when Ohio State University football players were selling their uniforms to a tattoo parlor for tattoos. There were no sanctions for Ohio State University over any of this. Until now, and now we’re supposed to look the other way and hand them the AP Poll because – well – the AP Poll voters (press) are supposed to IGNORE than Ohio State University has had all these advantages in order to build all these teams for a DECADE. It started with Maurice Clarett in 2002 and continued until their NCAA Probation 2012. And, of course, Ohio State University covered it all up. This is why Jim Tressel was fired.
He was seen yelling at his position coach during the Northwestern – Ohio State University game in the 2002 season. In December 2002, he publicly criticized OSU officials for not paying for him to fly home for the funeral of a friend. Maurice Clarett accused administrators of lying when they said he had not filed the necessary paperwork. In July 2003, Maurice Clarett became the center of an academic scandal when a teaching assistant told the New York Times that Clarett had received preferential treatment from a professor. Duh.
Maurice Clarett had filed a false claim that more than $10,000 in clothing, CDs, cash and stereo equipment were stolen from a car he borrowed from a local dealership in September 2003. Athletic Director Andy Geiger stated at the time that Maurice Clarett also took special benefits totaling approximately $20,000. There were no sanctions for any of that either. Maurice Clarett repeatedly misled investigators. Clarett later pleaded guilty to a failure to aid a law enforcement official.
Maurice Clarett signed with an agent before being denied the opportunity to join the NFL Draft, and the NCAA refused to reinstate his college eligibility on a number of grounds.
4.82 Maurice Clarett put up for his Combine 40-yard dash, and just up and quit the Combine at that point. He actually then asked Ohio State University, who refused to allow him to take part in a private workout for pro scouts in Columbus because it wanted to avoid a circus situation.
Maurice Clarett was drafted in the 3rd Round, and was released on waivers on August 28, 2005, only a month after signing his contract with no guaranteed monies. He never played even a single down in the NFL. Other teams could have claimed him and taken on his contract, then he was freed from that contract and was able to negotiate with any team, but no team expressed interest.
As his college and NFL careers tanked, The Miami Herald reported in September that Clarett was already $1 million in debt from legal fees for his fight with the NFL and other costs. They also reported that Clarett turned down the traditional signing bonus in the originally proposed contract from Denver wanting incentives that would get if he ran 1000 yards multiple seasons.
I am not even going to get in to all his arrests, mental health evaluations, police chases, guns, robberies, or his prisons.

Alabama crushes Auburn, Florida St. beats Florida by 11, LSU pounds Arkansas by 20 and Georgia beats Tech by 18 , Clemson beats Gamecocks by 8.
Its Georgias game to lose but that wont be by lack of performances on the Offense and Defense, it may come down to turn overs, penalties that help Tech and Special Teams.
Our FG Kicker is young and hasnt had alot of pressure kicking the winning FG, then our poor special teams that dont cover kicks offs well or punts could be a factor.
Penalties arent Georgias best friend either. Alot of dumb penalties have hurt Georgia and alot of our games with Tech have come from momentum swings.
You best believe that Tech has nothing to lose and so expect trick plays alot in this game, fake FG’s, fake punts, 10 yard kickoffs and reverses.
Their gonna blitz like never before on Murray hoping for an interception, fumble or a srtrip of the ball.
This is why “Nothing to lose Teams” gain momentum and upsets.
Dawgs have got to keep all this in the back of their minds. Tech wants an upset or dethroning of Georgia and will do anything to accomplish that feat.
Stay focused, be aware, be confident in yourself, execute and blow them off the lines. Stay in your lanes and not get sucked in by deception.
This is especially important for those CB’s and Safeties because Ga Southern had recievers 20 yards down the field.Seal the corners and up the middle and jam their running game and it wont be close.
Force Tech to throw and its over for them.

Why do people say stupid things like “Throw out the record books” when it comes to rivalry games? It’s not true; in fact underdogs UNDERperform in rivalry games (a recent Harvard study looked at this http://harvardsportsanalysis.wordpress.com/2012/11/19/please-do-not-throw-out-the-record-books/. The truth is that not only does the favorite win overwhelmingly in rivalry games, they are 42% more likely to COVER than in a non-rivalry game. This is one of the dumbest sports clichés.
The UGA/GT rivalry is the 2nd most lopsided in favor of the favorite in college football; the most lopsided is the Iron Bowl where the favorite has won 73 of 76 times. That does mean that BOTH teams have done their part as the favorite, but the idea that you can throw away record books is silly.

Just sayin- I agree. IF UGA wins out, they deserve the MNC. My point is that so far this season, UGA has proven it can beat Florida. Nothing else. The “tough conference” argument is a joke, when the best teams play in the West and you didn’t play any of them. Of the Top 6 teams in the SEC (UGA being one), UGA has played 2 of them and gone 1-1. And I’m not sure how that comment “blew mine out of the water”, when the 5:39 comment was based on ifs. Mine was based on actual games played, not possible scenarios.

Georgia Tech has the nation’s highest average SAT score for football players, and also the highest average high school GPA.
UGA, on the other hand, has one of the very lowest SAT averages, as well as a very low GPA average. As a result, 88% of UGA players are “special admits,” when means that they can not meet the minimum educational and intelligence requirements for admission to UGA, even as low as that is. As a practical matter, most UGA players are functionally illiterate and will spend their lives on welfare or pushing a mop at a business that took pity on them and gave them a menial job.
Yes, it would be great if Tech was more competitive with UGA, but Tech fans are proud of our heritage of having intelligent, responsible athletes who go on to rewarding careers and contribute to society.
Contrast this with the very unintelligent thugs that UGA recruits. The 53 arrests over the last four years is proof enough, not to mention winning the Fulmer Cup. Most of these goons are tossed out after their eligibility is over, and many end up on welfare.
UGA is clearly just a football factory dedicated to winning at all costs, and most UGA fans are okay with this, with no concern about the embarrassment this brings to the State of Georgia.
Mark Richt is the architect of this situation. As long as he is paid a huge salary, he will continue to recruit the illiterate brain-dead thugs who he thinks will win. Unfortunately for UGA fans, he’s not remotely in the same league with the top coaches in the SEC.
So the bottom line is that Georgia Tech – win or lose – does so with honor and integrity, while the lowlife punks, woman beaters, drug users, and drunks in Athens continue to embarrass us all.
